3. Program Description
The Cosmetology program is a year-long (excluding core), full-time,
day program is offered on the Moultrie Veterans Parkway and Tifton
Campuses. It is also offered in the evening at the Moultrie Industrial
Drive Campus and the Tifton Campus.
The Cosmetology program is a sequence of courses that prepares
students for careers in the field of cosmetology. The program
emphasis specialized training in safety, sanitation, state laws, rules
and regulations, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, skin, hair, and
nail diseases and disorders, hair treatments and manipulations, hair
shaping, hair styling, artificial hair, braiding/intertwining hair,
chemical hair reformation and application, hair coloring, hair
lightening, reception, sales and salon management.

Opportunities: There are endless job
opportunities available in the cosmetology
field, here are just a few: cosmetologist,
cosmetology salesperson, salon manager,
platform artist, nail technician, skin care
specialist, makeup artist, salon owner.
Job Placement: Over 95% of all MTC’s
cosmetology graduates were placed in field.
Salary: Salaries can range from minimum
wage to unlimited. It depends on your choice
to rent a booth in a salon or be a
commissioned cosmetologist.
5. Timeline
How often is registration offered?
You can register for core courses any term. The program courses
begin every Spring and Fall term.
What is the procedure to register each term?
Contact your program advisor through e-mail or in person during
new student registration day or preregistration week.
How long does it take to complete my core?
Usually core classes can be completed in 1 term depending on class
availability.
How long does it take to complete the program (minus core) ?
The Cosmetology program takes 1 year to complete.

Tuition is based on $89 per credit hour
($1,335 for 15 hours or more)

8. PROGRAM FEE EXCEPTIONS:
OUT OF STATE STUDENTS: Tuition is two times the regular tuition
OUT OF COUNTRY STUDENTS: Tuition is four times the regular tuition
MALPRACTICE INSURANCE:
Students in Early Childhood Care and Education, Cosmetology, Esthetician, and all Allied
Health programs (except EMT) will be assessed an $11.00 malpractice fee each Fall
Semester. EMT malpractice insurance is $46.00.
SENIOR CITIZENS:
Upon request, Georgia students 62 years of age or older who are otherwise qualified may
attend MTC, for credit courses only, without charge of payment of the standard tuition rate
on a space available basis. Proof of age must be presented at registration to receive the
tuition waiver. All fees will be assessed. Admission under this provision does not apply for
Continuing Education classes.
ONLINE STUDENTS: TRANSIENT students taking online classes are not charged insurance
or activity fees. MTC does not charge online students for proctoring when taking classes
through a TCSG college. Online students should be aware that other sites may charge fees.
The student is responsible for any expenses incurred to secure a proctor.
DUAL ENROLLED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Do not pay instructional fees, application
fees or late fees.

10. Frequently Asked Questions
What are the actual class hours?
The day class hours are 8:00 am until 3:30
pm. The evening program hours are 5:30 pm until
9:30 pm. The classes run Monday through
Thursday.
Will I be training on actual clients?
You will have opportunities to work on
clients and experience training as if you were
employed in a salon.
Is there a required dress code?
The required dress code for Cosmetology is
black slacks or skirts and red tops.
