Why does it matter?
We live in the digital age
The environment has deep impact on children’s behaviors and development.
Good or bad? It depends on how we use media.
Science behind
Learning from TV and other media:
Require repetition
Familiar characters
Socially relevant and contingent feedback (looks at and talk to the child)
Here is a video represents above three contents in a show.
Children under 2.5 or 3 years old learn better from a real-world than from an equivalent media. They develop the ability of dual representation (need to represent TV as something they learn from) around 3 years old.
Learning two “5”
Children follow 5 steps to learn new things
Sensory register: receives input from the environment and registers it for processing
Information processing: Approach that describes how people learn using a computer analogy
Short-term memory: Holds information temporarily
Long-term memory: Stores information processed from short term memory for later retrieval
Learning response: Recognize and recall information from short- and long-term memory.
5 capabilities that contribute to social learning
Symbolization: can think about social behavior in words and images
Forethought: anticipate consequences of our own and others’ actions
Self-regulation: adopt standards of acceptable behavior for us (aspirational, social, moral)
Self-reflection: analyze our thoughts and actions
Vicarious learning: learn by watching others be rewarded and punished

Parenting instructions:
Media is a new environment for children. Parents should guide them to adapt to the environment.
Consider media as an optional tool for learning. Parents’ companion is necessary for children’s development. It always better to learn from real-world than from the screen.
Don’t use it as an emotional pacifier. Parents should not use TV or other media to calm down their children. They need to learn to control their emotion.
Set limits and encourage playtime. Kids are kids. They will make mistakes using media. Parents’ surveillance is indispensable.
Be a good role model. Except for limiting children’s on-screen playtime, parents should control their time on using media each day.

How to Sensitize Children to Adopt Coronavirus Preventive Measures?NehaNaayar
Amul is a seven-year-old child studying in Grade-2 in a municipal corporation school in
Delhi. He is a sociable person. He loves to hang out with his friends and asks innumerable
questions to his best friend Yasmin when they have mid-day meal together. Due to the
COVID-19 pandemic situation, his school is closed. He keeps on staring at the door of his
house and looks forward to asking so many questions to his best friend when the school
reopens.
This time when the school reopens after a long vacation, Yasmin may not have all the
answers to Amul’s questions because children in primary classes would be learning new
things hitherto untouched or not discussed previously. She will also be one of the thousands
of children who will be told about new norms in the school when she goes back to the
school after a while.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
3. INTRODUCTION
The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2020 (COVID-19)
may be stressful for people especially for
Students/Children. Fear and anxiety about a disease can be
overwhelming and cause strong emotions. Coping with
stress will make our community, the people we care about,
and us stronger. Students/children respond to stress
differently. Some common changes in their behavior are
like irritation, worry or sadness, unhealthy eating or
sleeping habits, avoidance of activities enjoyed in the past,
headaches or body pain etc. This stress affects children
academic success as well as health.
6. CURRICULAR
As the COVID-19 continues to spread, many school/colleges
around the globe are shifting to online learning in an effort to
slowdown the spread of the disease. Students are provided with
e-contents, which is of two types i.e. Assembled e-contents and
Created e-contents. Assembled E-Contents means assembled
from several resources and books with due care. On the
another hand Created E-Content is that form which is
developed by author based on various sources, as well as
his/her own work. Various forms of contents are text, picture,
sound, video, animation, simulation and presentations. It may
Video classroom, Virtual classroom, E-lessons, online
discussion, Mobile learning.
7. To cope with the problem of students stress, teachers
may start some online co-curricular
practice/activities with students. For example
NON-CURRICULAR
10. There are some special things which are required to consider while online
learning as well as activities. These ideas from educators from around the
world, many of whom have already been teaching during coronavirus
lockdown are
1. Consider digital reach and infrastructure unequal capacity-
This is the major hurdle in preparation for online learning. Many out of us do not
have smart devices to use. Most families don't have one computer per person.
During the country lockdown, parents may also be working from home, meaning
several people could be competing for one or two computers. Therefore, make
sure all online apps work lockdown on mobile devices in case a laptop is not
available.
2. Practice- Teachers should train themselves and their students on the apps
and technology tools they may need to use in the event of lockdown. Must
consider many of the skills learned during the online learning period will be
equally beneficial in a regular classroom. 1/5
11. 3. Provide clear guidelines to staff and parents-During a
lockdown, communication between administrators, staff, parents and
students is more important than ever. The channels of communication need
to be frequent and clear. There should be step by step detailed information
of how the college will operate during a lockdown so staff and parents are
on the same page/platform it may be a whats app group. It also includes
where to find the daily assignments; a list of sites and tools the students
will need, how to log in and what to do if the technology doesn’t work etc.
4. Establish daily schedules-Guidelines should be clear about when
teachers and students need to be logged on. A full day in front of a screen
is a lot for kids and teachers, especially for families who may be sharing
one device. Many schools are choosing two check-in times – a morning
meeting and an afternoon check-in – and then allowing families flexibility
about how they organize the schedule.
2/5
12. 5. Provide robust learning-it is tempting for teachers to upload Quality E-
contents for students otherwise students will suffer. Following things must
consider:
It should be as per objectives of curriculum,
Clear expectation,
Break learning into smaller chunks,
Immediate feedback through online knowledge checks,
Comments on collaborative documents and
Chat to keep students motivated and moving forward,
Include virtual meetings, live chats or video tutorials to maintain a human
connection,
Others 3/5
13. 6. While it may seem fun to work from home, it can be challenging
to keep to a regular schedule.
Following things that can help include
Take regular breaks.
Making time to exercise.
Keep to a regular sleep schedule.
Limit distractions when possible (turn off social media notifications, for
example).
Set daily and weekly goals.
Make time to socialize, even if it’s virtually.
4/5
14. 7. Choose the right tools and stick with them-There is variety of
technology tools, many free, are available to help. With so much out there, it
can be tempting to try to use everything. Instead, limit the number of tools,
apps and platforms so students and their parents are not overwhelmed.
Videoconferencing will take you and your students into each other's homes
so it's important to consider privacy. Even the privacy issues of each and
every technology tool.
5/5
15. Non- Academic
There are strategies and methods that can be utilize our daily time.
Some methods/strategies to cope up with this problem are:
16. FITNESS
Exercise
Healthy food to eat
Yoga
Meditation
Practice Dance

17. The protection of students/children is very
important. Precautions are necessary to prevent the
potential spread of COVID-19 in school/colleges. It
is important to remember that COVID-19 does not
differentiate between borders, ethnicities, disability
status, age or gender. Education settings should
continue to be welcoming, respectful, inclusive, and
supportive environments to all. It is requested to
follow following instructions/checklist to for healthy
INDIA.
18. Checklist for parents

teachers.

support them in safety efforts (though parent-teacher committees etc.)
19. Checklist for students and children
In a situation, it is normal to feel sad, worried, confused, scared or angry.
Know that you are not alone and talk to someone you trust, like your parent or
teachers
