INTRODUCTION
Cordyceps mushroom, scientifically known as
Cordyceps spp., is a type of fungi that belongs to
the family Cordycipitaceae. It is renowned for its
unique life cycle, which involves parasitizing insects
and other arthropods in the wild. Cordyceps
mushrooms have a long history of use in traditional
Chinese medicine, where they are believed to offer
various health benefits, including immune support,
increased energy, and improved athletic
performance. They are also cultivated for medicinal
and culinary purposes. One of the most well-known
species is Cordyceps sinensis, though Cordyceps
militaris is also widely cultivated for its medicinal
properties.

NUTRITIONAL IMPORTANCE
20XX Presentation title 7
• It's essential to note that while Cordyceps mushrooms offer some
nutritional value, they are primarily valued for their potential
medicinal properties rather than being a significant source of
nutrients. As with any supplement or food, it's essential to
incorporate Cordyceps mushrooms into a balanced diet for optimal
health benefits.
• It's important to note that these values are approximate and may vary
depending on various factors. Additionally, fresh Cordyceps
mushrooms may have a different nutrient profile than dried ones.
Always refer to specific nutritional information provided by reputable
sources for accurate nutrient content.
20XX Presentation title 8
• The nutritional value of Cordyceps mushrooms can vary slightly depending
on the species and growing conditions, but here are some general
nutritional components found in Cordyceps mushrooms:
• 1. Proteins: Cordyceps mushrooms contain all essential amino acids,
making them a good source of protein.
• 2. Carbohydrates: They contain carbohydrates, including dietary fiber,
which can aid in digestion and promote gut health.
• 3. Vitamins: Cordyceps mushrooms are rich in various vitamins, including
vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin
B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), and vitamin E.
• 4. Minerals: They contain minerals such as potassium, calcium,
magnesium, iron, zinc, and selenium, which are important for various
bodily functions, including immune support and bone health.
• 5. Polysaccharides: Cordyceps mushrooms contain polysaccharides,
which are complex carbohydrates known for their immune-modulating
properties.
• 6. Ergosterol: Cordyceps mushrooms contain ergosterol, a precursor to
vitamin D, which may have potential health benefits.
20XX Presentation title 9
Nutrient content found in Cordyceps mushrooms per
100 grams of dried mushrooms:
• Calories: Approximately 350-400 kcal-
• Protein: Approximately 10-20 grams-
• Carbohydrates: Approximately 70-80 grams-
• Dietary Fiber: Approximately 20-30 grams-
• Fat: Approximately 5-10 grams
BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES.
1] Cordyceps sinensis cannot be cultivated, and needs to
be harvested from the wild, where it grows naturally on
caterpillars high in the tibetan plateau. It is super rare and
therefore fetches insanely high prices.
• Cordyceps militaris Mushroom, Packaging Type:
Package at Rs 300000/kg in Ahmedabad.
• orange Cordyceps militaris Powder, Packaging Size: 1
Kg - 50 Kg at Rs 55000/kg in Chennai
2] Cordyceps have long been a local folk remedy, but within
the last few decades Chinese demand has mushroomed,
driving up prices. Since the early 1970s the cost of a
kilogram of high quality cordyceps has increased up to forty
thousand-fold—fetching as much as $110,000 per kilogram
3] Theses mushroom can make good profits to him at last.
This mushroom farm does not only sell products but also
being a complete mushroom cultivation learning center, that
hosted many farmers, researchers, entrepreneurs and
students who would like to learn from him.

20XX 11
1. Selection of Strain: The process starts with selecting the appropriate cordyceps strain for cultivation,
typically Cordyceps militaris.
2. Preparation of Substrate: Cordyceps is a parasitic fungus that usually grows on insects in nature. In
cultivation, a suitable substrate is prepared to mimic this environment. The substrate may include rice,
soybeans, or other grains, and sometimes nutrient supplements.
3. Inoculation: The prepared substrate is inoculated with the cordyceps spores or mycelium (the
vegetative part of the fungus). This can be done through liquid culture, agar culture, or spore powder.
4. Incubation: After inoculation, the substrate is placed in a controlled environment, such as a growth
chamber, with specific temperature, humidity, and lighting conditions. The mycelium begins to grow
and colonize the substrate.
5. Development of Fruiting Bodies: Once the mycelium has fully colonized the substrate, fruiting bodies
(the actual mushrooms) start to form. This stage requires precise environmental control to optimize
growth.
6. Harvesting: The cordyceps mushrooms are harvested when they reach the desired size and maturity.
Timing is important to ensure the highest quality product.
7. Drying and Processing: After harvesting, the mushrooms are typically dried to preserve them and
concentrate their active compounds. The dried mushrooms may then be processed into powders,
extracts, or other forms for use in supplements.
8. Quality Control: Throughout the cultivation process, quality control measures are important to ensure
the mushrooms are free from contaminants and meet safety and potency standards.

MEDICINAL USE OF CORDYCEPS
MUSHROOM
• Cordyceps mushrooms are a type of fungi that have been used for
centuries in traditional Chinese medicine for their potential health
benefits. There are several species of cordyceps, but Cordyceps militaris
and Cordyceps sinensis are the most commonly used in traditional
medicine and supplements.
• It's important to note that while there is some scientific evidence
supporting these potential health benefits, more research is needed to
fully understand the effects of cordyceps on human health. Additionally,
supplements containing cordyceps should be taken with caution,
especially if you are taking other medications or have underlying health
conditions. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting
any new supplement.
