The COP28 President launched the Global Decarbonization Accelerator (GDA), a comprehensive plan consisting of three pillars to drastically reduce emissions: rapidly scaling renewable energy and efficiency; decarbonizing existing energy systems through commitments from 50 oil and gas companies; and reducing non-CO2 gases including methane and cooling emissions. Over 100 countries signed pledges supporting the GDA's goals. The GDA aims to address both energy supply and demand through broad stakeholder cooperation to accelerate the transition to a 1.5°C future.
