Unit VI Lesson 3 Social Business Messages Introduct.docxouldparis
Unit VI
Lesson 3: Social Business Messages
Introduction
Communicating in a social environment involves a knowledge of the cultures that you interact
with on a daily basis. The environment may be internal (involving coworkers and the culture of
the organization) or external to your organization (involving customers and other organizations).
Likewise, being aware of business etiquette is a necessity so that your communication does not
result in negative outcomes for you, your fellow workers, and your company.
An important communication function is networking, that is to say interacting with others
externally and internally. As much or more so than education and experience, networking can
help anyone’s career. Whether we like it or not, the majority of jobs are secured by networking
more so than a job application. Networking is about exchanging information about situations in
your line of work, sharing ideas, and helping others who may need advice or ask for help in
completing a project.
Networking
Networking is a forum in which contacts are developed both professionally and personally.
Business power and opportunities increase with the support and resources acquired by
networking. Networking groups help increase a customer base. The feedback from these groups
and the individuals who
compose them can help resolve issues that otherwise might be very challenging.
Networking online occurs at sites such as Linkedin, Biznik, Fast Pitch, Ryze, and dozens more.
Networking that occurs locally in the community is often fostered by volunteering at a variety of
services. Joining local business groups and other social organizations may change some business
practices with helpful and constructive advice from networking contacts. Through networking,
people encounter employees who want to work with them as they learn to share dreams of
success.
Communicating in Person
When communicating face to face, always be aware of business etiquette and interpersonal
communication. These skills can help or hinder credibility and persuasive abilities, especially
when promoting a business.
Business Etiquette
Business etiquette involves one’s conduct, the ways in which we speak to others, our
demonstration of respect for others, and several nonverbal communication habits such as
appearance, posture, and gestures. These habits are viewed in various ways by different cultures.
For example, in one culture, it may be appropriate to wear denims to a social gathering while in
another culture it is taboo.
We have to be aware of our hygiene while sharing a workspace with others. While smothering
others with too much perfume or the scent of aftershave lotion is certainly not a good idea, using
enough to encourage others to share our work environments in a comfortable way is very
appropriate. In any office, employees should always try to add to a positive work environment.
Speaking with ...
Generally speaking, human relationships are reciprocal. According to research, we are fundamentally urged to belong to a community and form connections with others. At least in part, such ties are founded on the knowledge that assistance will be given to any of us who require it.
The implication of that is that we anticipate both providing and receiving assistance. When we are constantly the ones providing, we do not feel as though we are truly contributing, we do not experience any same sense of belonging.
When you only communicate with individuals when you need something from them, they’ll soon stop responding to your messages. Over time, it’s important to support and sustain your relationships. Only networking when you need something is not something you can afford.
You are aware that networking is advantageous for you and that it can lead to a variety of opportunities (business, social, or personal), but it is much easier said than done.
You won’t be able to establish personal or professional relationships or use them to further your career unless you have the proper networking abilities.
In this deck, you’ll learn;
The guide to effective networking
Why you need to network.
The basic rules that governs effective networking.
The proven strategies that add up to having a productive business networking.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

3. ACCESSION
Human beings are continuously engaged in some activity or other in
order to satisfy their unlimited wants. Every day we come across the word
‘business’ or ‘businessman’ directly or indirectly. Business has become
essential part of modern world. And in any field of business employees
communicate with each other and agree on certain rights and obligations
among themselves. So business partners conclude contracts of various kinds.
4. 1. BUSINESS CONTRACTS
Contracts are an important part of business life. The business
environment is full of agreements between businesses and individuals.
Contracts also are legally enforceable in a court of law. Contracts often
represent a tool that companies use to safeguard their resources.
5. Business contracts typically include a negotiation process
in which various terms to which each party must abide are
stipulated. The negotiation process may take days, weeks or months,
depending on the contract and the contractual responsibility of each
party.
Contracts also can include a process for making changes
or addendums to the agreement. Businesses frequently use contracts
to ensure that a certain level of service is maintained or that
competing companies do not have access to specific economic
resources.
6. Service contracts outline the specific duties a company will perform in
a contractual agreement. These contracts typically are used when companies
contract with other businesses to perform services such as maintenance, technical
support or call-center operations.
Service contracts usually include information relating to prices for each
service and the frequency at which the company will perform the services.
Businesses use these contracts to ensure that they do not complete work without
being compensated.
7. Businesses often use
contracts to enforce non-compete
agreements. Non-compete
agreements prohibit individuals
or other businesses from offering
goods or services in the
economic marketplace. These
contracts create strategic
relationships between two
companies and allow them to
provide unique goods or services
to consumers.
8.
9.
10. 2. CORPORATE ETHICS
As times change, so do
social norms for personal
and professional behavior,
but that doesn't mean basic
etiquette doesn't matter.
Performance and quality are
important, too, of course,
but not exclusively. We
sometimes forget that
business is about people.
There is no shortage of
competent and reliable
people in the business world
and manners can make the
difference.
11. Business ethics is the system of laws and guidelines by which business
professionals and corporations operate in a fair, legal and moral fashion. Ethical
issues include the rights and duties between a company and its employees,
suppliers, customers and neighbors, its fiduciary responsibility to its
shareholders.
13. Always say your full name.
In a business situation, you should use your full name,
but you should also pay attention to how others want to be
introduced.
14. A handshake is still the professional standard.
Not only does this simple gesture demonstrate that
you’re polite, confident and approachable, it also sets the tone for
any potential future professional relationship.
15. Watch your language.
Verbal and written communications are often much less formal than in times past,
but be careful to choose your words wisely. Of course, derogatory, rude or offensive
language is unacceptable, but so is slang. While it may be commonplace in our
society, it’s never acceptable in a professional atmosphere.
16. Don’t yell and scream at others.
Compassion and empathy will serve you much better
to earn respect.
17. Be on time.
We’re all busy. Being punctual shows others that you value their
time. Being late doesn’t mean that you’re busier than other people; it just
means that you’re inconsiderate.
18. Don't cross your legs.
Both men and women do
it, but it can be distracting and
even too sexy for a professional
setting. Crossing your legs is bad
for your circulation because it
increases the pressure on your
veins.
19. Ladies – don’t wear revealing clothing.
Let others see your skills, not private body parts.
20. Don’t gossip.
It’s so hard sometimes to resist engaging in a little
“harmless” gossip. It’s natural to be curious and interested in
what other people are doing, but talking about someone who is
not present is disrespectful.
21. Don’t eavesdrop.
Everyone is entitled to private conversations, in person or
over the phone. The same goes for e-mail; don’t stand over someone’s
shoulder and read their e-mails.
22. No phone during meetings.
When you’re in a meeting, focus on the meeting
discussion. Don’t take calls, text or check e-mail. It’s disrespectful
to the other attendees, not to mention, extremely annoying. It also
makes meetings last longer because the participants keep losing
focus.
23. Always say “Please” and “Thank you.”
This should go without saying, but even in a very casual
professional atmosphere, this basic form of courtesy is still
imperative. Today, sending a thank you e-mail is perfectly
acceptable, but a handwritten thank you note is always a nice
touch.
Please Thank you
24.
25. CONCLUSION
The role of ethics in society can’t be overestimated because improvement
in terms of this sphere has no boundaries. It deals particularly with
entrepreneurship and business. Business ethics as never before should
interfere in the business relationship of modern businessmen. Improving
of the ethical standards of business should be provided by the appropriate
education and upbringing. That is why in any business schools and
universities it is important to treat the study of business ethics and
education of future entrepreneurs with all responsibility.
