There is a lot of information about DevOps, the technology, the culture, the behaviour. There is not, to be honest, a lot of information about tackling DevOps in large enterprises and there is certainly very little about tackling DevOps in large financial organizations.
This presentation will talk about lessons learnt rolling out DevOps in a large insurance organization. What are the characteristics of these organizations? They are very different to Facebook, Twitter, IT product companies and start ups. They are large, they typically have an "old brand" and maybe resistant to change, they outsource sometimes both Dev and Ops and sometimes to many different providers, they are global and built on a matrix structure of many business units and segments, they often are running application consolidation programs, they frequently are resistant to cloud based technologies, they are project rather than product driven with large project portfolios, they have stringent but maybe ineffective governance models. When approaching DevOps in this style of organisation I like to use the mantra "Respect the Monolith" - where the Monolith is not just the legacy IT systems but also some of the above challenges. Underestimating these challenges will be the downfall of a DevOps initiative.
I will cover a "successful" DevOps initiative that I set up for the organization and show how it "failed". I will cover how security, suppliers and regulation impacted us. This will be a great presentation for anyone about to embark on a DevOps journey in a large disparate organization.

Lean and Agile by Regis Medina - Lean IT Summit 2013Operae Partners
IT managers who want to improve their software development activities are quickly faced with the “Lean or Agile?” question. Are lean and agile the same thing? Should we deploy agile before implementing lean? Having been on both sides of the table, Régis shares what he has learned so far about both approaches, and how best to use them to create high performance software development organizations.
The digital landscape is rapidly growing with emerging technologies that regularly impact the role we play as designers. Rather than shying away with intimidation, we can choose to use this as an opportunity to affect more than just screen designs. By applying attributes of traditional design skills like the ability to synthesize large amounts of data, analyze & organize findings, and clearly communicate complex concepts in a relatable story, we are able to evolve to more innovation-driven roles.
In this talk, Kat will explain how her core skills have helped push her projects along, how she’s acclimated to an innovation-driven role, and how you can capitalize on your skills as a designer to drive organizational change and leverage the newest technologies at your disposal.

AppWorks Accelerator #15 intro in Hong KongGaga Liu
Apply for AppWorks Accelerator: http://appworks.tw/accelerator/
A small team working out of a garage is no longer the most efficient way to do a startup — you don’t have the time to keep track of what’s going on out there, and often caught off guard when things suddenly turn against you and competitors pop out of nowhere. You have limited knowledge around the fundraising scene. You don’t have good connections to quality mentors and investors. Suppliers and channel partners don’t pick up your calls. And even getting job candidates to come in for an interview is hard. On top of that, you make all the rookie mistakes simply because you don’t have a chance to learn from other startups’ failures.
As former founders ourselves, we started AppWorks Accelerator in 2010 because we want to help fellow founders solve all these problems. Starting up a startup in an accelerator, together with a big group of really smart and driven founders, is a much more efficient way to do a startup in the 21st century.
Every 6 months, we invite 35 of Asia’s most talented startups to join AppWorks Accelerator. The AppWorks Team, our 50+ mentors, and the alumni community are all there to help you fine tune your product and business model. And then at Demo Day, you get to tell your story in front of 1,000+ investors and potential business partners to win their partnerships.
We looked around and tested many different platforms but finally adopted PrestaShop. We have made this choice because it’s easy to develop, it’s lightweight and super
easy to use.

The continuous innovation model - combining Toyota Kata and TRIZ Teemu Toivonen
Companies are facing increasingly tough competition in the global economy. Previously sustainable competitive advantage strategies are insufficient in the changed market conditions. The only sustainable advantage is continuous innovation at a faster pace than rival organizations. This requires a systematic approach to innovation and engaging staff on all levels to effectively take part in the innovation efforts.
Toyota Kata is proven and highly successful method for continuous improvement at the whole organization level. Toyota Kata was discovered by Mike Rother while he researched Toyota’s quality improvement methods. It is a holistic system method for improvement efforts which contains processes and behavioral patterns for strategically aligned goal setting, problem solving, coaching, management and training. It is a simple and teachable approach which also covers the management of improvement efforts. The downside of the approach is its focus on incremental improvement instead of breakthrough innovation.
The approach can be improved by adding TRIZ techniques like contradiction analyses, FAA, inventive principles and trends of evolution to various parts of the method. This approach will allow to keep the benefits of the Toyota Kata approach while changing the focus from incremental improvement to true innovation. The combined approach is also better suited for the more complex problems of today’s knowledge workers. Toyota Kata can also be used as method for introducing and training TRIZ to the organization in an effective and incremental way.
The combined method for continuous innovation can be further improved with the Lean Startup methods to validate the solutions. The Lean Startup experimentation approach is geared to design quick and inexpensive approaches for the market validations of service, management and software innovations.
Hackathon - Continuous Innovation by DesignRashmi Tambe

The key challenge is to remain successful. This presentation explains could we remain competitive and successful by imbibing the culture of Customer Focus, Continuous Improvement
A short introduction into Lean Startup for the ETH Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lab (ieLab). We want to show the Startups of this incubuator how Lean Startup changes the way startups work. Instead of planning and implementing everything perfectly, Lean Startup uses small experiments and validated learnings after failures.
In this presentation, we will use a fast-paced, methodical approach to provide a full picture of what Agile is, how it works, who is using it and how you can use it. We’ll cover a lot of information, but will introduce, compare, and contrast concepts which encourage an objective picture based on your experience. Agile is not a panacea or a prescriptive methodology. At its foundation, it is a mentality and a way of working and managing work that permeates everything you do. We will discuss how that is and what that means in practical terms.
The Lean Startup Method: Its Value for TestersTechWell
A startup is an organization created to deliver a new product or service under conditions of extreme uncertainty. Approximately 40 percent of all startups will cease operation with investors losing everything; 95 percent will fall short of their financial projections. And the number one cause of startup failure? No one wants to buy their product. Eric Ries, author of The Lean Startup, learned that under conditions of extreme uncertainty, classical management methods do not bring success. Based on his and others’ experiences, he formulated the Lean Startup methodology consisting of five important principles: (1) Build-Measure-Learn (BML) loop, (2) Minimum Viable Product (MVP), (3) Validated Learning, (4) Customer Development, and (5) One Metric That Matters. Lee Copeland believes these same Lean Startup ideas have great value for testers. Come and discover how the BML loop is similar to exploratory testing, how the MVP idea suggests a Minimum Viable Set of Tests, how Customer Development suggests developing clients for your testing services, and more. Learn how to apply Lean Startup ideas in your testing organization.

UX Poland 2016 Masterclass- Jeff Gothelf - Lean Ux in the EnterpriseUX Poland
Agile has taken over the software development world. As a result we've created highly-efficient software engineering teams incentivized to get bug-free code shipped quickly. What we've failed to do is empower these teams with the decision-making mechanism necessary to decide:
What should we work on?
What's the best prioritization for our work?
When is it done? (Shipping != done)
Is it meeting customer expectations?
Should we continue to design and optimize this feature?
It is imperative that our product teams understand how to practice effective product discovery methods which can simultaneously feed our product delivery efforts.
The most effective way to achieve this is in collaborative, cross-functional teams that base their decisions on evidence from the market gained through experimentation and hypothesis. These teams bring product design, user experience, engineering, product management and organizational leadership together in a customer-centric effort to build the right product and to build the product right.
Jeff Gothelf is an expert in teaching teams how to work in this collaborative fashion and has captured these ideas in his book, Lean UX: Applying lean methods to improve user experience.
The myth goes that the more perseverance, brilliance, good timing and a good product, the higher the chance for success. I will show you why exactly the opposite is true: Survival and, even more so, success are highly correlated with the successful application of the “Build-Measure-Learn Feedback Loop”. The fact that this lean framework can be learned and taught is the final kill of the myth. I will give examples of how you can deliver more business value earlier and with less risks by testing everything as soon as possible using a so-called Minimum Viable Product.

Launching Performance Support: It's the Message That MattersChristopher King
If your boss asks you to develop a performance support solution, do you know here to begin? There are varying definitions and degrees of understanding of what "performance support" means in practice. There are critical first steps to take when designing a solution that fits the needs and culture of your organization. Success is a balance of proper planning and figuring out how to address "what's in it for me?" for your stakeholders. This session explores cases of integrating performance support into learning strategy, with examples of how the speakers are adapting their training design processes. The goal is to make the five moments of learning need the focus instead of an afterthought. Using a case study detailing the launch of an initial performance support effort for a Federal agency, the speakers will examine valuable lessons for anyone launching their first performance support solution. They'll also study lessons from other first-time performance support efforts that reinforce the importance of a client champion, and the consequences of not clearly explaining what you're doing and why. This session will introduce basic skills and approaches that anyone can use to get started with a performance support project.
Product Management: The Innovation Glue for the Lean EnterpriseJosiah Renaudin
At a time when organizations of all sizes both want and need innovation, exciting approaches including lean startup and agile development have risen to the forefront. Although there is no shortage of resources and expertise on these approaches, less guidance is available on the daunting challenge of introducing and increasing innovation in our organizations. Organizations of different sizes face different challenges in innovation which, if not dealt with, end up stifling the potential results. Mimi Hoang and George Schlitz share experiences from many years of successes and failures introducing and increasing innovation in diverse companies. Mimi and George explore the difference between the challenges that startups and big companies face increasing innovation and how product management can help overcome them. They share innovation killers, give top insights on how to be successful, and present participants with an assessment they can take back to their own workplaces.

In Luxembourg we see many IT teams that are struggling to respond to new business requests while supporting existing systems. Without a proper management framework and clearly defined objectives, this can lead to misunderstanding between business and IT, and eventually disappointment and distrust.
In the past few years a new approach has emerged within the Lean/Agile community: Kanban for software development. This method differentiates from most other Agile approaches as it is not iterative but based on a continuous flow managed with a pull system.
During this session you will discover the Kanban Method and how to implement it for empowering your team for managing both software development projects and support activities, achieving better results and rebuilding trust with your business stakeholders.
Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Editor's Notes
The Product Owner dilemnaIs my vision realistic? What should we build next?
All too often the feedback loop is blurred between the final customer and the P.O.This is OK with limited uncertainty, but not in a situation of extreme uncertainty (startup, new market, unknown customer…)
Cohort analysis, split tests,Example of metrics depending on engine of growth
