What Is Blogging? (With Meaning, Advantages and Tips)
Often, people look for various ways to make money online. One such way to earn a steady
income is blogging, which refers to publishing various forms of content, including articles,
photos and infographics, online. If you want to create your online presence and share
content you are passionate about, blogging can be a lucrative career choice. In this article, we
answer, “What is blogging?”, explore its advantages, understand how you can start
blogging and make money from it and share some tips for running a successful blog.
What Is Blogging?
The answer to “What is blogging?” is that it is the process of creating blog posts and
publishing them on a website. The website can be owned by an individual or a company, and
the posted content can be articles, photos or other digital media. Blogging often involves
sharing long-form articles on a specific subject. Most blogs have a target audience, and
bloggers often choose topics that interest their target audience. Often, brands have blogs on
their websites, making it easier for users to know about the company and engage with them.
Blogs are an effective way to capture the audience's interest and interact with internet users.
As blogs are easy to use, they have become a popular method for sharing meaningful
information with the target audience. Organizations might use blogs to promote products
and convey the company's cause and mission to the audience. To promote a business and
reach potential customers, a blogger uses various types of content, such as infographics, how-
to guides and personal stories.
Advantages of Blogging
The following are the advantages of blogging:
Enhances search engine optimisation (SEO): Blogging can help to improve the organic
search ranking of your website. The more frequently you update a blog, the higher are the
chances of improving your website's SEO.
Maintains communication with the audience: Blog posts can help you continuously
engage with your audiences by keeping them updated on the recent trends in your industry.
By writing insightful and informative posts on fresh topics in your niche, you can keep your
readers coming back to your website and thus build brand loyalty.
Generates alternate income: Blogging can help you make money online. It can become a
rewarding career because you can earn money from affiliate products and advertising.
Builds rapport with the audience: A blog is a useful online tool that helps in showing your
credibility and expertise. It is a great way to build rapport because it allows you to post
content and interact with the audience.
How to Start Blogging
Blogging as a career can be a lucrative profession. You can pursue it full time or consider
maintaining a blog as a side business. Regardless of the employment type, you can start
blogging using the following steps:
1. Choose a topic
The first step to start your blogging career is deciding the topic on which you want to write.
You can write how-to-articles, advice columns, opinion pieces and general-purpose articles.
Consider blogging on a subject you are passionate about or something about which you want
to share information with others. Choose a topic that resonates with your target audience.
One benefit of blogging is that it allows you to interact with a community of subscribers that
share the same passion and interest as you do.
2. Set up a blog
After deciding on the topic, the next step is to set up the blog. At this stage, it is important to
choose your hosting method. You can either create an account on a free blogging platform
or buy a domain name. When you choose to buy a domain name and self-host your blog,
you get more control over the blog and its content. You can even format the URL of the blog
the way you want.
After choosing the hosting provider, design your blog using themes, templates and easy-to-
use navigation menus. It is the design that helps you showcase your creativity. For instance,
you can create eye-catching landing pages for your readers.
3. Produce valuable content regularly
Once your blog is operational, consider creating and posting content regularly to improve
your online presence. Using a content creation schedule, you can accomplish and follow
through on the planned posts. Focus on creating content that provides your readers with some
value. Your audience needs some motivation to keep reading your blog. So, provide them
with information that they might find useful. This also helps in developing a level of trust
between you and your readers. It can help you monetize your blog in the future.
4. Promote your blog
While content creation is an important aspect of blogging, just posting great content on your
blog may not be enough to attract your target audience. It is also important for you to
promote your content and focus on building engagement. Here are a few ways to promote
your blog and build engagement:
Build a profile for your audience: Knowing who you are trying to reach can help build a
persona for your target audience. After building a target audience profile, find out what
other blogs and podcasts they follow or use and what information they find helpful.
Write guest posts: Once you know what blogs or websites your target audiences are
following; you can offer to write guest posts on those sites to promote your blog there. You
can also ask successful bloggers with a large following to write guest posts for your blog.
Use SEO: SEO is a technique that you can use to increase the chances of your website
appearing on the results page of an internet search. You can even use backlinks from
external websites that can help direct readers to your website.
Use relevant keywords: To increase your website ranking, focus on using keywords based on
relevance. By incorporating keywords in your blog post, you can increase your content's
visibility and build audience engagement.
5. Create partnerships
For building a blog that generates money, it is essential to form digital partnerships. Some
ways in which you can form partnerships are:
Local partnerships: When producing content related to your city or region, reach out to local
businesses and see if they want to partner with your blog. For instance, if you run a health
blog, you can consider partnering with local medical centres, hospitals or nursing homes.
Affiliate marketing: Many companies offer affiliate programs that allow your blog to
advertise a company's goods or services. It helps you receive a commission when a visitor
uses your affiliate link to purchase a product.
Digital partnerships: You can take help from influencers who can share your blogs on their
feeds and direct traffic to your blog. These digital partnerships can help in scaling your
website and blog traffic.
How Can You Make Money Blogging?
Here are a few ways you can make money through your blog:
Affiliate income: Affiliate income is another form of income earned from affiliate
marketing. When a user clicks on your affiliate link, you earn a commission.
Advertising income: As your readership grows, companies and advertisers can pay you to
promote their products or services on your blog. You can earn an income by running ads of
their products or services on your blog.
Recurring income: After establishing your blog, you can set up memberships programs to
earn recurring income. Readers purchase a monthly or annual membership to gain access to
additional or premium content.
Services: You can earn from a blog is by providing services such as copywriting, consulting,
training or coaching.
Products: Many bloggers earn money by selling products they create. These products can be
eBooks, software, merchandise or any other product you want to sell.
Tips For Blogging
Follow these tips for blogging:
Consider selling the advertisement page: Companies might contact you to place ads on
your blogs once your blog gains followers and website visitors. If you want to increase your
earnings as a blogger, focus on using a service that helps you find advertisers who fit your
blog's criteria.
Improve your skills: Pursue certifications to learn new skills related to your niche. Focus on
improving your skills to enhance the quality of your work.
Create evergreen content: Evergreen topics remain relevant for readers forever. Topics such
as “Top social media trends 2022” might become irrelevant after 2022, but topics such as
“History of social media” is evergreen, as the audience can find it useful for years.
Want to start a blog on your own?
Creating your own personal blog takes a few steps. First, you need to decide on a name for
your blog, also called a domain name. Then, you need to choose the best blogging platform
for your needs. We recommend going with a self-hosted platform. There are a few choices
when it comes to self-hosted platforms, but the most popular is WordPress.org.
The next step is to choose a web hosting service. For new bloggers, we strongly recommend
Bluehost. You will get a Free domain name when you sign up with them and if you don’t
like their services, they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Title: UX design | Skills | Tools| Advice
Description: Learn what user experience (UX) design is, plus insights on how to become a
great designer featuring advice expert UXers.
What is UX design? Skills, tools, and advice
User experience (UX) design is often mixed up with user interface (UI) design. Although
the two work closely together, they are different. This article will give you a run-down on
everything you need to know about UX design, from a UX designer’s business functions to
useful tools and resources to become a better UX designer.
The experts like Fabio Rose, UX Engineer and UX professor, and Hazel Watts, UX Content
Specialist, suggested ideas here.
What is user experience design?
User experience (UX) is the relationship between a product and the person using it. UX
design focuses on building products that someone can easily use and enjoy using.
“User experience design is about supporting user’s needs, but making sure not to distract
them from the overall experience of the product.
The story you’re telling about a product should speak exactly to the intended audience with
no unnecessary jargon or imagery.
There is definitely a sweet spot between supporting the process and overcomplicating it!
Research, trying, testing, iterating, and testing again. That’s UX design—your job is never
done. The story you’re presenting is always developing along with your products.” — Hazel
Watts, UX Content Specialist.
What does a UX designer do?
A user experience (UX) designer makes sure a product is learnable and usable for the end-
user. A UX designer works from the very beginning of any product process to ensure product
teams are building products that are conscious of their users, their needs, and pain points.
A UX designer works with branding, navigation, content, and product functions to ensure all
of these elements are tied together to create an end result that’s joyful and fluid.
UX designers are responsible for more than just the product experience and product
lifecycle—they’re key players in the entire customer lifecycle.
The decisions a UX designer makes influences if a user is attracted to, willing to pay for, and
can use a product in the first place. Updates and tweaks a UX designer makes to a live
product can positively affect customer retention rates and customer lifetime value (CLTV).
What’s the difference between a UX and a UI designer?
UI design is a little different because it focuses on human-computer interaction. This can
be anything from a desktop web page to the usability of an app screen on a handheld device.
User interface designers (also known as interaction designers) focus solely on the interface of
a product, not the flow between interfaces or the user’s experience going through the
journey.
User interface design works closely with user experience design. Together, UX and UI
designers conduct user research, measure usability, and are constantly testing designs for any
stand-out success to replicate or error to fix.
A UI designer usually has some kind of understanding of front-end development and graphic
design. They focus on visual assets, while a UX designer will focus on all parts of the user
experience.
Discover how to measure the success and progress of your UX activities with these essential
UX KPIs.
What skills do UX designers need?
Let’s break this section into two parts; hard skills and soft skills needed in UX design.
There are certain practical skill sets a designer needs to learn to become a UX designer. At
the same time, a UX designer needs to practice certain soft skills to become a successful UX
designer.
Hard skills UX designers need
You need quite a few hard skills to earn the title of UX designer. Most of these skill sets you
will learn in a UX design course or degree.
 UX Research
 Wireframing & prototyping
 Visual communication
 Interactive design
 Design thinking
 User flows
 Interaction design
 Testing designs
 Decision mapping
 Information architecture
 Mood boarding
 Visual & UI design
 Coding—up for debate, more on this later
It’s not easy to conquer all of these UX design skills, and it’s certainly not easy to become an
expert in all of them. UX design courses—linked later in this piece—tend to have you
specialize in a few specific areas of design and give you the basics of all the above.
Discover how to ask the right user research questions to get valuable insights and make
better design decisions.
Soft skills UX designers need
The UX Engineer, Fabio Rose, says to get a better idea of some of the soft skills a UX
designer needs to succeed in the industry.
“For me, there are three core soft skills every UX designer needs.
1. Empathy: UX design leads with users in mind. You’ll need to investigate and completely
understand the motivations, anxieties, needs, and problems of the people who will use your
design. If you want the result to be functional and meaningful, it needs to be built with
empathy. Forget about yourself. Listen to and understand what your users want.
2. Organization: UX design is like a puzzle. You can’t miss a single piece of research if you
want it to be complete. Put all of those (user research) pieces together in a way that makes the
most sense for the goal of the product, and you’ll have a successful design. Good
organization is essential to get you there.
3. Curiosity: UX designers need to stay curious. If you want to discover that last piece to
your UX design puzzle that ties everything together in harmony, a certain amount of curiosity
is needed. This means you need to be comfortable in challenging assumptions and looking for
alternative solutions to those that seem the most logical.” — Fabio Rose, UX Engineer.
UX Content Specialist Hazel Watts agrees: “Empathy is the number one skill all UX
designers need. The people whom you are designing for are human beings. They aren’t
‘Product Managers’ ‘Entrepreneurs’ or ‘CEOs,’ they are busy mothers, daughters, sons, and
fathers.
They have deadlines, fears, money worries, and time is precious for all of them. How is what
you are designing going to support them first, and then persuade them to engage with your
product?”
Soft and hard skills aside, there’s one area of UX design that remains unclear to many, and
that’s code. Ready to get it answered?
Do user experience designers need to code?
In short, no. User experience designers don’t need to code, although it’s definitely a nice skill
to have.
Even if a UX designer doesn’t code themselves, they’ll be working with engineers and
developers that code for them, so it’s useful to understand coding capabilities.
By speaking the language, designers can better translate the feasibility of a user experience
design concept.
Most user experience designers have basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Although, they haven’t necessarily learned it to become a UX designer, more so because of
past experience or because they want to collaborate better with their engineering colleagues.
Today, we’re seeing more and more SaaS models popping up to support ‘no-code,’ or ‘low-
code’ user experience design methods, so the demand for coding expertise in UX design jobs
is thinning out.
Which types of projects are UX designers involved in?
UX designers are often asked to contribute towards business development projects that are
not traditionally within a designer’s scope of work. This is largely because they often provide
a unique, empathetic lens that other core business roles don’t tend to focus on. Let’s explore
some of the projects you could (and should) involve a UX designer in.
Customer retention
UX designers can provide a unique input when it comes to customer retention. They often
have specific data sets that can pinpoint problem areas that need improvement and can help
retain customers by reducing these friction points.
Specifically, user experience designers can help with:
 App design
 Product design
 Lead Generation
Any lead generation project should include a UX designer’s input. Whether that’s qualitative
input and guidance, or the actual design of a lead gen flow, user experience designers can
give your generation machine the best chance possible at success.
A few lead generation methods to include a UX designer in are:
 Landing pages
 Email flows
 Website design
 Blogs, Guides & Case Studies
 User Research
 Internal processes and systems
Lastly, user experience designers can go beyond your customers, users, product, or service.
They can also help towards strategies that help keep employees happy and retain staff.
By using a combination of soft and hard skills, user experience designers can offer support,
guidance, and technical design solutions when it comes to building new processes, systems,
and communication methods.
6 tools for UX designers
No matter how long you’ve been in the business, there will always be user experience design
tools to help you get your work done more efficiently and accurately. We share a more
detailed look at the top user experience design tools in another article. However, a few well-
known favorites are:
1. Figma: a collaborative, web-based, vector graphic edit and interface design tool
2. Adobe XD: a vector-based experience design platform
3. Maze: a rapid user-testing platform for user experience prototypes—gathering user
feedback from real humans
4. Sketch: a collaborative digital design app for Mac
5. InVision: a digital product design platform
6. Web flow: a no-code, visual canvas website builder.
Wrapping up
Whether you're building a digital product or showcasing a service, you'll need some talented
user interface designers and user experience designers on your product team from day one.
No matter what you're building, the end-users are human users, and it's the designers'
prerogative to lead with that notion in mind.
UX design is all about the experience. If you’re not building a positive product and brand
experience for your customers, you’re not building a business. Your end-user needs to be
your first user, and you can do this by hypothesizing, testing, and building people-conscious
products from day one.
Hopefully, this article has shed light on the world of UX design and what it can potentially
offer your business.
Title: WordPress | Beginners| uses
Description: WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS). It's a
popular tool for individuals without any coding experience who want to build websites and
blogs.
What Is WordPress? A Beginner's Guide
What is WordPress? If you've ever heard anyone talk about building a website, there's a
good chance you've heard of WordPress. Originally launched in 2003, WordPress has since
become the most popular CMS in the world, powering over 60 million websites today.
WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS). It’s a popular tool for
individuals without any coding experience who want to build websites and blogs. The
software doesn’t cost anything. Anyone can install, use, and modify it for free.
What Websites Can WordPress Make?
Hobby or Lifestyle Blogs
Due to WordPress's origin in the blog space, its features for this purpose are rich, including:
The ability to differentiate between posts and pages
A robust WYSIWYG editor for easy post creation
Posts, tags, and categories for creating a rich content organization system
Options for users to leave comments and you to easily moderate them
Once you have WordPress installed, the main thing you'll want to do is choose a theme that
appeals to you and what you want to accomplish with your blog. There are themes that
accommodate news, magazine, and tiled layouts (and more).
Next, you'll want to add plugins for any functionality you want that doesn't come with the
theme, such as social sharing buttons or click-to-tweet.
Professional Portfolios
You can also find a variety of themes for professional portfolios, making WordPress a great
choice for showcasing your personal brand. The "Pages" functionality can be used for your
homepage, about page, contact page, etc. while the "Posts" functionality can be used for the
specific pieces you want to highlight — whether they're in image, text, audio, or video
format.
You can choose a theme with a built-in gallery, or you can install plugins for portfolio
carousels or sliders.
Business Websites
A business website needs to get even more mileage out of WordPress, in many cases having
more pages and posts than the average personal blog or site and needing additional
functionality. However, due to its powerful built-in CMS capabilities and the open-source
community continuing to iterate solutions, WordPress is fantastic at meeting those needs.
You can choose a website theme that works best for what you're looking to accomplish and
then customize it according to your brand. Page builders such as Elementor and Divi make
the layout process even easier.
With plugins for SEO, lead capture, analytics, and more, you'll be able to integrate and grow
your business using WordPress.
E-Commerce Stores
WordPress is particularly good for creating online stores. With e-commerce plugins such as
WooCommerce, you can manage products, payments, and shipping in the back end while
your visitors have an enjoyable shopping experience on the front end.
Mobile Applications
It can be far more convenient for some users to access your site's features through a mobile
app rather than their device's browser. App development can be costly, but WordPress
plugins can turn your site into an app with no hassle.
Membership Sites
If you're looking to monetize your efforts by restricting premium content to members only,
WordPress supports plugins to create membership sites. You'll be able to manage payments,
set up member levels, and monitor signups.
Why Use WordPress?
WordPress is the beloved platform for many bloggers and businesses. In fact, more than
40% of all websites online use WordPress. Here are a few reasons why WordPress is so
popular:
1. WordPress is open-source.
WordPress is an open-source platform. This means anyone can modify the source code and
redistribute the software. It’s designed for people to contribute their ideas to improve the
platform. There’s an open-source community that helps make WordPress even better.
2. WordPress is easy to use for a beginner.
WordPress doesn’t require a computer engineering degree. It’s actually built for non-
technical people. The user interface is intuitive and friendly.
To add a new design to your website, you can simply download a theme. If you need to add a
new function, like a contact form, just install a plugin. Web development tasks that used to
take hours to complete can be done in a matter of minutes.
3. WordPress is SEO-friendly.
It’s not enough to just build a WordPress website. You want people to find and visit your
website through search engine optimization. With SEO plugins, like Yoast SEO, you can
boost your rankings with internal linking suggestions and meta description templates.
4. WordPress supports all media types.
WordPress doesn’t limit any major media types. So, you can use any combination of text,
images, and videos on your website. In this competitive market for consumers’ attention, it’s
good to know that the platform gives you creative freedom.
5. WordPress is secure.
Security is a major concern for businesses. With the number of data breaches happening
every year, you want peace of mind that your data (and your customers’ data) will be
protected. As long as you keep plugins updated and passwords secure, WordPress is one of
the safest and secure CMS platforms. The platform offers several features to safeguard your
website, like logging out idle users and adding two-factor authentication.
6. WordPress is free to use.
WordPress is completely free. It won’t cost you anything to use the software. However, you
will need to pay a third-party hosting provider to make your website available online.
When Did WordPress Start?
In 2003, WordPress was created by Matt Mullenweg, a college student at the time. It started
as a relaunch of a previous project called b2/cafelog, originally built by Michel Valdrighi.
Matt saw an opportunity to improve the functionality of a website without modifying its core
source code. And WordPress was born.
The Importance of WordPress 1.0
Matt developed a new branch of b2 on SourceForge by forking the original concept. With
the help of his friends, he created another version and got the name WordPress.
Several iterations later, WordPress 1.0 was released to the public in 2004. It was codenamed
“Davis” because Matt admired jazz artists, like Miles Davis. Similar to the platform today,
this version included multiple categories to group your website content and comment
moderation.
The Rise of WordPress
WordPress gained traction after a competitor changed its pricing structure. Users started
looking for alternative solutions, like WordPress. After quitting his job, Matt started his own
company Automattic. He raised $1.10 million in Series A funding from multiple investors,
including True Ventures, Radar Partners, and Polaris Ventures.
The WordPress of Today
WordPress is now a growing community of developers, designers, and bloggers. In 2017,
WordPress redesigned its user experience with a new editor called Gutenberg. The latest
version, WordPress 5.0 (Bebo), includes a new and improved showcase theme. Major
industries continue to see the value of the platform.

  • 5. Title: UX design | Skills | Tools| Advice Description: Learn what user experience (UX) design is, plus insights on how to become a great designer featuring advice expert UXers. What is UX design? Skills, tools, and advice User experience (UX) design is often mixed up with user interface (UI) design. Although the two work closely together, they are different. This article will give you a run-down on everything you need to know about UX design, from a UX designer’s business functions to useful tools and resources to become a better UX designer. The experts like Fabio Rose, UX Engineer and UX professor, and Hazel Watts, UX Content Specialist, suggested ideas here. What is user experience design? User experience (UX) is the relationship between a product and the person using it. UX design focuses on building products that someone can easily use and enjoy using. “User experience design is about supporting user’s needs, but making sure not to distract them from the overall experience of the product. The story you’re telling about a product should speak exactly to the intended audience with no unnecessary jargon or imagery. There is definitely a sweet spot between supporting the process and overcomplicating it! Research, trying, testing, iterating, and testing again. That’s UX design—your job is never done. The story you’re presenting is always developing along with your products.” — Hazel Watts, UX Content Specialist. What does a UX designer do? A user experience (UX) designer makes sure a product is learnable and usable for the end- user. A UX designer works from the very beginning of any product process to ensure product teams are building products that are conscious of their users, their needs, and pain points. A UX designer works with branding, navigation, content, and product functions to ensure all of these elements are tied together to create an end result that’s joyful and fluid. UX designers are responsible for more than just the product experience and product lifecycle—they’re key players in the entire customer lifecycle. The decisions a UX designer makes influences if a user is attracted to, willing to pay for, and can use a product in the first place. Updates and tweaks a UX designer makes to a live product can positively affect customer retention rates and customer lifetime value (CLTV). What’s the difference between a UX and a UI designer? UI design is a little different because it focuses on human-computer interaction. This can be anything from a desktop web page to the usability of an app screen on a handheld device.
  • 6. User interface designers (also known as interaction designers) focus solely on the interface of a product, not the flow between interfaces or the user’s experience going through the journey. User interface design works closely with user experience design. Together, UX and UI designers conduct user research, measure usability, and are constantly testing designs for any stand-out success to replicate or error to fix. A UI designer usually has some kind of understanding of front-end development and graphic design. They focus on visual assets, while a UX designer will focus on all parts of the user experience. Discover how to measure the success and progress of your UX activities with these essential UX KPIs. What skills do UX designers need? Let’s break this section into two parts; hard skills and soft skills needed in UX design. There are certain practical skill sets a designer needs to learn to become a UX designer. At the same time, a UX designer needs to practice certain soft skills to become a successful UX designer. Hard skills UX designers need You need quite a few hard skills to earn the title of UX designer. Most of these skill sets you will learn in a UX design course or degree.  UX Research  Wireframing & prototyping  Visual communication  Interactive design  Design thinking  User flows  Interaction design  Testing designs  Decision mapping  Information architecture  Mood boarding  Visual & UI design  Coding—up for debate, more on this later It’s not easy to conquer all of these UX design skills, and it’s certainly not easy to become an expert in all of them. UX design courses—linked later in this piece—tend to have you specialize in a few specific areas of design and give you the basics of all the above. Discover how to ask the right user research questions to get valuable insights and make better design decisions. Soft skills UX designers need The UX Engineer, Fabio Rose, says to get a better idea of some of the soft skills a UX designer needs to succeed in the industry.
  • 7. “For me, there are three core soft skills every UX designer needs. 1. Empathy: UX design leads with users in mind. You’ll need to investigate and completely understand the motivations, anxieties, needs, and problems of the people who will use your design. If you want the result to be functional and meaningful, it needs to be built with empathy. Forget about yourself. Listen to and understand what your users want. 2. Organization: UX design is like a puzzle. You can’t miss a single piece of research if you want it to be complete. Put all of those (user research) pieces together in a way that makes the most sense for the goal of the product, and you’ll have a successful design. Good organization is essential to get you there. 3. Curiosity: UX designers need to stay curious. If you want to discover that last piece to your UX design puzzle that ties everything together in harmony, a certain amount of curiosity is needed. This means you need to be comfortable in challenging assumptions and looking for alternative solutions to those that seem the most logical.” — Fabio Rose, UX Engineer. UX Content Specialist Hazel Watts agrees: “Empathy is the number one skill all UX designers need. The people whom you are designing for are human beings. They aren’t ‘Product Managers’ ‘Entrepreneurs’ or ‘CEOs,’ they are busy mothers, daughters, sons, and fathers. They have deadlines, fears, money worries, and time is precious for all of them. How is what you are designing going to support them first, and then persuade them to engage with your product?” Soft and hard skills aside, there’s one area of UX design that remains unclear to many, and that’s code. Ready to get it answered? Do user experience designers need to code? In short, no. User experience designers don’t need to code, although it’s definitely a nice skill to have. Even if a UX designer doesn’t code themselves, they’ll be working with engineers and developers that code for them, so it’s useful to understand coding capabilities. By speaking the language, designers can better translate the feasibility of a user experience design concept. Most user experience designers have basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Although, they haven’t necessarily learned it to become a UX designer, more so because of past experience or because they want to collaborate better with their engineering colleagues. Today, we’re seeing more and more SaaS models popping up to support ‘no-code,’ or ‘low- code’ user experience design methods, so the demand for coding expertise in UX design jobs is thinning out. Which types of projects are UX designers involved in? UX designers are often asked to contribute towards business development projects that are not traditionally within a designer’s scope of work. This is largely because they often provide a unique, empathetic lens that other core business roles don’t tend to focus on. Let’s explore some of the projects you could (and should) involve a UX designer in.
  • 8. Customer retention UX designers can provide a unique input when it comes to customer retention. They often have specific data sets that can pinpoint problem areas that need improvement and can help retain customers by reducing these friction points. Specifically, user experience designers can help with:  App design  Product design  Lead Generation Any lead generation project should include a UX designer’s input. Whether that’s qualitative input and guidance, or the actual design of a lead gen flow, user experience designers can give your generation machine the best chance possible at success. A few lead generation methods to include a UX designer in are:  Landing pages  Email flows  Website design  Blogs, Guides & Case Studies  User Research  Internal processes and systems Lastly, user experience designers can go beyond your customers, users, product, or service. They can also help towards strategies that help keep employees happy and retain staff. By using a combination of soft and hard skills, user experience designers can offer support, guidance, and technical design solutions when it comes to building new processes, systems, and communication methods. 6 tools for UX designers No matter how long you’ve been in the business, there will always be user experience design tools to help you get your work done more efficiently and accurately. We share a more detailed look at the top user experience design tools in another article. However, a few well- known favorites are: 1. Figma: a collaborative, web-based, vector graphic edit and interface design tool 2. Adobe XD: a vector-based experience design platform 3. Maze: a rapid user-testing platform for user experience prototypes—gathering user feedback from real humans 4. Sketch: a collaborative digital design app for Mac 5. InVision: a digital product design platform 6. Web flow: a no-code, visual canvas website builder. Wrapping up Whether you're building a digital product or showcasing a service, you'll need some talented user interface designers and user experience designers on your product team from day one. No matter what you're building, the end-users are human users, and it's the designers' prerogative to lead with that notion in mind.
  • 9. UX design is all about the experience. If you’re not building a positive product and brand experience for your customers, you’re not building a business. Your end-user needs to be your first user, and you can do this by hypothesizing, testing, and building people-conscious products from day one. Hopefully, this article has shed light on the world of UX design and what it can potentially offer your business.
  • 10. Title: WordPress | Beginners| uses Description: WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS). It's a popular tool for individuals without any coding experience who want to build websites and blogs. What Is WordPress? A Beginner's Guide What is WordPress? If you've ever heard anyone talk about building a website, there's a good chance you've heard of WordPress. Originally launched in 2003, WordPress has since become the most popular CMS in the world, powering over 60 million websites today. WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS). It’s a popular tool for individuals without any coding experience who want to build websites and blogs. The software doesn’t cost anything. Anyone can install, use, and modify it for free. What Websites Can WordPress Make? Hobby or Lifestyle Blogs Due to WordPress's origin in the blog space, its features for this purpose are rich, including: The ability to differentiate between posts and pages A robust WYSIWYG editor for easy post creation Posts, tags, and categories for creating a rich content organization system Options for users to leave comments and you to easily moderate them Once you have WordPress installed, the main thing you'll want to do is choose a theme that appeals to you and what you want to accomplish with your blog. There are themes that accommodate news, magazine, and tiled layouts (and more). Next, you'll want to add plugins for any functionality you want that doesn't come with the theme, such as social sharing buttons or click-to-tweet. Professional Portfolios You can also find a variety of themes for professional portfolios, making WordPress a great choice for showcasing your personal brand. The "Pages" functionality can be used for your homepage, about page, contact page, etc. while the "Posts" functionality can be used for the specific pieces you want to highlight — whether they're in image, text, audio, or video format. You can choose a theme with a built-in gallery, or you can install plugins for portfolio carousels or sliders. Business Websites A business website needs to get even more mileage out of WordPress, in many cases having more pages and posts than the average personal blog or site and needing additional functionality. However, due to its powerful built-in CMS capabilities and the open-source community continuing to iterate solutions, WordPress is fantastic at meeting those needs.
  • 11. You can choose a website theme that works best for what you're looking to accomplish and then customize it according to your brand. Page builders such as Elementor and Divi make the layout process even easier. With plugins for SEO, lead capture, analytics, and more, you'll be able to integrate and grow your business using WordPress. E-Commerce Stores WordPress is particularly good for creating online stores. With e-commerce plugins such as WooCommerce, you can manage products, payments, and shipping in the back end while your visitors have an enjoyable shopping experience on the front end. Mobile Applications It can be far more convenient for some users to access your site's features through a mobile app rather than their device's browser. App development can be costly, but WordPress plugins can turn your site into an app with no hassle. Membership Sites If you're looking to monetize your efforts by restricting premium content to members only, WordPress supports plugins to create membership sites. You'll be able to manage payments, set up member levels, and monitor signups. Why Use WordPress? WordPress is the beloved platform for many bloggers and businesses. In fact, more than 40% of all websites online use WordPress. Here are a few reasons why WordPress is so popular: 1. WordPress is open-source. WordPress is an open-source platform. This means anyone can modify the source code and redistribute the software. It’s designed for people to contribute their ideas to improve the platform. There’s an open-source community that helps make WordPress even better. 2. WordPress is easy to use for a beginner. WordPress doesn’t require a computer engineering degree. It’s actually built for non- technical people. The user interface is intuitive and friendly. To add a new design to your website, you can simply download a theme. If you need to add a new function, like a contact form, just install a plugin. Web development tasks that used to take hours to complete can be done in a matter of minutes. 3. WordPress is SEO-friendly. It’s not enough to just build a WordPress website. You want people to find and visit your website through search engine optimization. With SEO plugins, like Yoast SEO, you can boost your rankings with internal linking suggestions and meta description templates. 4. WordPress supports all media types. WordPress doesn’t limit any major media types. So, you can use any combination of text, images, and videos on your website. In this competitive market for consumers’ attention, it’s good to know that the platform gives you creative freedom.
  • 12. 5. WordPress is secure. Security is a major concern for businesses. With the number of data breaches happening every year, you want peace of mind that your data (and your customers’ data) will be protected. As long as you keep plugins updated and passwords secure, WordPress is one of the safest and secure CMS platforms. The platform offers several features to safeguard your website, like logging out idle users and adding two-factor authentication. 6. WordPress is free to use. WordPress is completely free. It won’t cost you anything to use the software. However, you will need to pay a third-party hosting provider to make your website available online. When Did WordPress Start? In 2003, WordPress was created by Matt Mullenweg, a college student at the time. It started as a relaunch of a previous project called b2/cafelog, originally built by Michel Valdrighi. Matt saw an opportunity to improve the functionality of a website without modifying its core source code. And WordPress was born. The Importance of WordPress 1.0 Matt developed a new branch of b2 on SourceForge by forking the original concept. With the help of his friends, he created another version and got the name WordPress. Several iterations later, WordPress 1.0 was released to the public in 2004. It was codenamed “Davis” because Matt admired jazz artists, like Miles Davis. Similar to the platform today, this version included multiple categories to group your website content and comment moderation. The Rise of WordPress WordPress gained traction after a competitor changed its pricing structure. Users started looking for alternative solutions, like WordPress. After quitting his job, Matt started his own company Automattic. He raised $1.10 million in Series A funding from multiple investors, including True Ventures, Radar Partners, and Polaris Ventures. The WordPress of Today WordPress is now a growing community of developers, designers, and bloggers. In 2017, WordPress redesigned its user experience with a new editor called Gutenberg. The latest version, WordPress 5.0 (Bebo), includes a new and improved showcase theme. Major industries continue to see the value of the platform.
