The Benefits Of Doing Things DifferentlyMike Ellis
During October and November 2009, Mike Ellis (Eduserv) and Dan Zambonini (Box UK) built a museum website in 12 hours from beginning to end, under the title "Museum In A Day".
These slides accompany a workshop we delivered at DISH 2009 with the same title (see http://www.dish2009.nl/node/89)
The workshop uses the Museum In A Day project as a means to frame the wider conversation, and looks at where online museums are in terms of audience, traffic and reach, asking:
- How can we do things differently?
- How can we do more with less?
- How can we be where our audiences are?

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

3. What is content?
● Content is any material that results from an idea or
concept having been expressed into a physical
recording medium.
– Physical media include rock, paint, wood, paper, ink,
film, vinyl, digital memory, and any other medium that
can take an "impression" from a "tool" wielded by the
content creator.
● Content is not content until it is physically recorded.
– Because content is recorded, it is shareable: another
can see, feel, hear, taste it.
– Because content is recorded, it is copyable.

6. Content value
● The cost of creation of content is set by the content
creator - material cost, creation time, "thinking about it"
time, skills required to create the content.
● The market price of virtual content is set by the
content viewer - demand (necessary vs. optional),
availability (rare vs. common), quality (high vs.
substandard), and awareness (known vs. unknown)
– The value of content is what other people are willing to
trade for it, whether the trade be in legal tender,
equivalent goods and services, prestige, or other
currencies.
