ASSESSMENT OF THE GLOBAL COST OF CORROSION
The global cost of corrosion is estimated to be US$2.5 trillion, which is equivalent to 3.4% of the global GDP (2013). By using
available corrosion control practices, it is estimated that savings of between 15 and 35% of the cost of corrosion could be
realized; i.e., between US$375 and $875 billion annually on a global basis. These costs typically do not include individual safety
or environmental consequences. Through near misses, incidents, forced shutdowns (outages), accidents, etc., several
industries have come to realize that lack of corrosion management can be very costly and that, through proper corrosion
management, significant cost savings can be achieved over the lifetime of an asset.
Fitness-For-Service (FFS) assessments are quantitative engineering evaluations that are performed to demonstrate the structural integrity of an in-service component that may contain a flaw or damage.

Water scarcity is the lack of fresh water resources to meet the standard water demand. There are two type of water scarcity. One is physical. The other is economic water scarcity.
Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Introduction:
It is well known in the construction industry that the three control parameters for construction projects are: quality, time, and cost.
Concrete and steel are the main materials utilized in the construction industry. This workshop is aimed at providing delegates a
good understanding regarding Construction Quality Control, and Site Inspection of concrete and steel structures generally
coming in industries like: Real Estate, Industrial, Oil & Gas, Power, Cements, Steel, Heavy Engg, EPC, Mines, Infra etc. Main
role of inspection is observation of quality of materials and quality of workmanship. Inspectors must know the contract
documents - mainly, the drawings and specifications. Quality management ensures that an organization, product or service is
consistent. It has four main components: quality planning, quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement.
Your expert instructor will explain in detail how to approach Construction Quality Control, and Site Inspection systematically, in
accordance with prescribed, recommended, and tested procedures.
Participants will receive a comprehensive set of practical tips/ notes as guide and study materials that explains the subject
concepts covering following major topics:
Quality Assurance (QA) Quality Control (QC) Inspection Characteristics
At this workshop, delegates will learn how and what are required for Construction Quality Control, and Site Inspection for
building components to extend the useful life of the facility, reducing the number of breakdowns and costly repairs, and
minimizing system and equipment downtime. Quality is often sacrificed to save time and cut costs. However, quality work saves
both time and money by doing work correctly the first time and eliminating rework. In far less than one percent of annual working
hours, the delegates will have an opportunity to learn useful ideas for considerable savings in their quality control and site
inspection budget for the facility/ premise they build upon. The civil structures involved in petrochemical or oil and gas industry
installations have been grouped into the following sections as per Oil Industry Directorate of India:
? Tank pad foundations and dyke walls
? Equipment foundations
? Buildings and structures
? Pipe racks and tracks
? Marine structures
? Concrete/Steel - general inspection
