The sound quality wasn’t the best when recorded through the
Samsung S7 or the bridge camera, so we recorded the audio
with a professional microphone, whilst also filming so that the
audio would sync up with the video.
During the editing stage we removed the original audio from
the video and had to listen closely so that we could sync the
mouth movement to the audio file recorded on the high quality
microphone.
This made our audio sound so much clearer and gave us the
professional feel that we wanted.
New audio file
recorded on a
higher quality
microphone
which we had
to sync to the
video file.
This bottom audio file is our
background music which
we’ve set to a lower volume so
that the audience can hear the
speech.
We will be using around 5/6 layers whilst editing our
documentary as we need the video, the subtitles, the music, the
voice over, the cut scenes in between and filler shots.
We are going with simplistic transitions as we noticed from our
research that professional documentaries only use simple cut
aways. With the scene of Richie Banks rapping, we are going to
be adding a ‘barn door’ effect as from watching multiple grime
videos we noticed that that’s how they began. E.g. Stormzy’s
‘Scary’.
We also needed to colour correct specific scenes as
the white balance was completely off, and the
lighting was terrible.
