Confucianism is a humanist philosophy that places man at the center of the universe and believes individual happiness is achieved through peaceful relationships with other humans. Confucius discovered five key relationships based on love and duty that were meant to establish peace and unity. Confucianism developed from the teachings of Confucius and became a major influence in Chinese civilization for over 2000 years. It emphasizes moral, social, political and religious duties and virtues like benevolence, righteousness, propriety and filial piety.
