6. Scab labour is a derogatory term outlining the
actions of union members who refuse to go out
on strike or workers who are hired by businesses
to replace striking workers. An employer will
also hire new personnel to complete the work of
regular employees who are on strike.

7. This is a conflict resolution strategy where
employer seeks to gain an upper hand in a conflict
by using the media to gain public support for its
position in a dispute. This in turn places public
pressure on employees to return to work.

This occurs when employers forcefully give
their employees an ultimatum to agree to their term
of employment or position on an internal dispute or
face termination of employment. Employees may
also be sent home without a definite possibility of
returning.

This is the act of threatening to change terms of
employment if workers don't agree to terms of
contract with a view to enforcing or resisting
demands or expressing grievances by not
supporting other employers in their demands or

employees deciding to complete only those task
outlined on their employment contract in order
to force employers to agree to some concession.

refuse to work more than the contracted number
of hours each week. Union employees refuse to
work any overtime during this dispute. This action
