The document discusses how to write an effective conclusion for a research paper on COVID-19. It recommends briefly restating the topic, rephrasing the thesis statement in 1-2 sentences, and summarizing the main points without introducing new information. For COVID-19, the conclusion should note that without a vaccine, preventing infection is important by reducing risk for all. It then outlines a group activity having students discuss conclusions and recommendations in their assigned topics within 15 minutes.
1. YOU’VE GOT THE REPORT ABOUT THE
COVID-19 VIRUS AND SOME OF SOCIAL
MEDIA CONTENT IS ALL ABOUT THE
POSSIBLE LOCKDOWN. WHAT IS YOUR
CONCLUSION ABOU THIS?
3. LET’S LOOK AT HOW TO START A
CONCLUSION FOR A RESEARCH PAPER:
•:
1.Briefly restate the topic
• It should be short (one sentence at most) with an
explanation of why it is essential. If you were writing on a
topic like the effects of COVID-19, this is how to do it:
• “COVID-19 is a highly infectious respiratory
syndrome with devastating effects across a wide
spectrum.”
4. 2. Rephrase the thesis statement
• Do not make it too similar to the original one stated. A
research paper conclusion example of a thesis
restatement would be:
• “Following its ravaging spree, the disease has brought
forth physical, psychological, economic, and social
impacts.
5. 3. Summarize your main points in brief
• Give your reader a recap of your arguments in the body
paragraphs without introducing anything new. For example:
• “Physically, the disease has left some paralyzed. Many
patients have also had to deal with stigmatization while
most countries have gone into economic recession.”
• In our last bit of this segment, we look at how to close a research
paper (after implementing the three points discussed above):
6. 4. A call to action where appropriate.
Once you’re through, urge your reader to do something. In
our case, we can say:
• “Since there is no vaccine to this virus yet, it is
important to prevent and reduce the risk of
infection. Remember, you can get it, I can get it.
So, let’s all play our parts diligently.”
7. G R O U P A C T I V I T Y : R E P O R T I N G
The students will be grouped in to 3 . Each group will
discuss the topic give to them. They will be given only 15
minutes to prepare.
• Group 1: Conclusion
Group 2: Recommendation
Group 3: Example of Conclusion and Recommendation
