CEP Evaluation of the Working Memory Model
Atkinson s and Shiffrin s (1968) multi store model was extremely successful in terms
of the amount of research it generated. However, as a result of this research, it
became apparent that there were a number of problems with their ideas concerning
the characteristics of short term memory. Building on this research, Baddeley and
Hitch (1974) developed an alternative model of short term memory which they called
working memory. Baddeley and Hitch (1974) argued that the picture of short term
memory (STM) provided by the Multi Store Model is far too simple. According to
the Multi Store Model, STM holds limited amounts of information for short periods
of time with relatively little processing. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is helpful to think of it as the system that you use to mentally rehearse
information by repeating it over and over again4. And the Phonological Store (The
Inner Ear but not to be confused with the canals in your actual ear) The
phonological store uses a sound based code to store information, but this
information decays after about 2 seconds, unless it is rehearsed by the articulatory
control system. The phonological store receives its input either directly from the
ears or from long term memory. If you imagine your favourite piece of music you
are using your phonological store.5 The phonological loop explains why the word
length effect occurs the fact that people cope better with short words than long
words in working memory (short term memory). It would appear that the
phonological loop holds the amount of information that you can say within 2
seconds (Baddeley et al, 1975). This makes it hard to remember a list of long
words such as anthropomorphic and representative compared to shorter words like
walk or again . The longer can t be rehearsed on the phonological loop because they
don t fit (into the two second limit). But the word length effect goes away if a
person is given an articulatory suppression task, for instance if you are asked to say

articulatory process and means you can t rehearse the shorter words more quickly

Essay on The History of Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp
Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp was born March 19, 1848, in Monmouth, Illinois. Wyatt s
dad was a soldier in the Mexican War. Wyatt was named after a guy that was the
leader of his dad s unit. Wyatt never really had a permanent home because his dad
was a drinker and gambler. Because, of his dad s gambling and drinking problem he
moved his family around a lot and thats why Wyatt didn t have a permanent home.
When Wyatt was thirteen the Civil War broke out, Wyatt wanted to go fight for the
union like his older brothers but he was to young, so he snuck away from home and
tried to enlist 3 times but was found out he was young and was sent home. Since he
had to stay home he had to tend 8 acres on the farm and his two young brothers
helped.

Just a little before 3:00 P.M.the Earp brothers were walking down to the entrance
of the O.K. Carral and the deputy of the town told him that the cowboys were

Wyatt got to them he walked up and said You sons of bitches you wanted a fight

drew their guns first is still debated today, but it s believed that Virgil Earp pulled
out his revolver and shot Billy Clanton in the chest at point blank range, while Doc
Holliday killed Tom McLaury with a blast from his double barreled shotgun. Wyatt
Earp shot Frank McLaury in the stomach, and the wounded man staggered out into
the street but managed to pull his gun and return fire. Meanwhile, Ike Clanton and
Billy Claiborne ran for their lives. The wounded Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton
both managed to get off several shots before collapsing, and Virgil, Morgan, and
Doc were all hit. The sherrif of tombstone watched the gun fight and charged Wyatt
Earp with murder then a month later the charge was taken off. But, despite its name,
the gunfight actually occurred in a narrow lot six doors west of the rear entrance to
the O.K. Corral on Fremont Street, and also in the street. Another famous gunfight
Wyatt Earp was known for was killing Curly Bill while leaving Arizona. Wyatt Earp

Biology of a Squid Essay
Biology of a Squid
Squids are among the most varied and unique of all invertebrates. They are
mollusks of the Class Cephalopod, along with the nautilus, cuttlefish, and octopus.
Squids are highly evolved, and have developed a number of traits uncommon to
most other mollusks. Fossil records of cephalopods have dated back the Cambrian
Period (about 600 million years ago). Structurally, squids have only small variations
of a basic theme common to all cephalopods. They are spherical or cigar shaped with
two fins used to stabilize movement when swimming. Ten arms are easily
distinguished emerging from near the mouth Eight of these arms each have four rows
of suction cups encircled by rings of chitinous (horny) hooks. These suction ... Show

Squids (and cephalopods in general) possess several unusual abilities that help them
deal with their predators (which range anything from large fish to sperm whales).
Their lack of an external shell allows them to squeeze into very tight places, enabling
them to conveniently and easily hide from their enemies. When confronted with a
dangerous animal away from hiding places, however, squids seem to have a
disadvantage when compared to other mollusks with external shells. If attacked, they
have no exterior protection. To counter this potential crisis, they have adapted a
number of tactics. First, they are capable of temporarily altering the color of their
skin, in effect camouflaging themselves. They can shift their appearance from a deep
brown color, to a white, or almost transparent quality. Along with this, they are able to
slightly change the texture of their skin. This form of camouflage allows the squid to
take the form of rocks, seaweed, or other ocean dwelling objects. If a hazardous foe
is not fooled by camouflage, the squid can release an ink cloud. The ink cloud has
a number of helpful characteristics that can ward off enemies. The cloud initially
causes the nearby water to become dark and cloudy, reducing the enemy s visibility
and allowing the squid to escape from danger. Some deep sea squids contain bacteria
in their ink so that the cloud glows, and scares away harmful rivals.
Monster Study Stuttering Theory
The Monster Study
Wendell Johnson devised the Monster study in 1939 at the Soldiers and Sailors
Orphans Home in Dayton, Iowa to find the true cause of stuttering, which he and
many others suffered from (Reynolds, 2003). The popular theory at the time was that
stuttering was a physiological defect, meaning the brain s signals misfired; however,
Johnson believed that stuttering was a learned behavior and could be unlearned
(Reynolds, 2003, n.pag). To see if his hypothesis was correct, Johnson devised an
experiment now known as the Monster Study. Before he could begin he requested
the help of one of his students at the time, Mary Tudor, to carry out the experiment
for him. Before the experiment Tudor and 5 other graduate students ranked twenty
six children s speech on a scale of one to five, one being poor and five being fluent
(Reynolds, 2003, n.pag). Based on this the children were separated into four
groups: IA consisted of five children who stuttered, but were told nice things; IB
consisted of five children who stuttered and were told negative things; IIA
consisted of six children who did not stutter but, were told they did, and, IIB
consisted of six children who did not stutter and were told nice things. Tudor used
rehearsed responses such as, you will be able to speak even better than you are
speaking now on students in IA and responses such as Don t ever speak unless you
can do it right on children in IIA (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag.). Even after just two
sessions,
Essay about Male Dominance and Inequality in Sports
The superior man blames himself. The inferior man blames others. Don Shula The
discussion of superior has been brought up numerous times throughout the history of
time. Whether it is superiority over a species, subject, or attribute people tend to
render something better than other. In today s modern age with a peaceful global
world trying to be put into place, we have tried to eliminate superiority between
others humans and promote equality. The elimination of superiority has also reared
its head in business over time in the United States with the extinguishing of
monopolies. Even though the United States has tried to lead the charge in trying to
terminate superiority and inequality inside their country, men s superiority still...

They didn t mention as much that they person they were chasing in the medal count
was a female they just referred to her as a Russian athlete . Men superiority in United
States sports is clearly displayed throughout all the leagues and actions used to
display the gender differentiated leagues. There is still a spotlight on men superiority
inside the government within the United States. It is very known that all the
presidents that have served as the President of the United States roll have been a male
and not once has a woman got on the final ballot. In Congress for example, about
21% of congress is made up of women even though a majority of Americans are
women. Even though women are finding more opportunities to find jobs inside the
government, most heads and people with the highest power are usually males. The
males dominate all the branches of government even though the government
preaches equality to the United States. In the book, Palmer says under the Second
Tenet the principle goal of ethics is the giving and receiving of care appropriate to
specific persons and their situations (pg. 322). I believe many people inside the
United States follow this when it comes to politics with Nancy Pelosi and Hilary
Clinton with having such a wide scale of people who know who they are from past
endeavors like Hilary Clintons husband being Bill Clinton. Females in politics have
to be in the right situations to receive care and
Personal Narrative-Astrea
Staggering from the blow, he swung his staff rapidly in quick defensive
movements as he struggled to regain his balance. Seeing his opponent hopping
backwards to avoid his wild swings he took a deep breath to steady himself. That
breath made him wince as pain lanced through his side, a sure sign that the last
strike had penetrated his screen. He hunched forward driving the staff into the
ground as he studied his adversary. The silver armor was dented all over, a
particularly nasty furrow on one of his greaves was probably why his nemesis was
favoring his right leg and the half remnant of shield was proof that he d given as
much as he d received in this fight. The armored figure lowered his sword. An old

No Atlan. Whatever brotherhood we had was lost when you chose to murder in
the name of your god. They were demons, Jors! Atlan screamed, his eyes showing
fear. Monsters from the nether Dimensions! By the will of Astrea I will purge all
those filthy creatures that would dare to harm humans. The fear slowly faded
replaced by signs of fervor. I am the blade of Astrea. The justice in her name. Doom
on her enemies, Blessings on her followers. None shall stand before the Lady of
the Moon. Seeing the zeal slowly taking Atlan over, Jors sighed. He knew that
Atlan would be lost in his own world now, gone was the hesitation as that stalwart
armored figure mumbled his catechisms. No, they weren t Atlan, and at some time
in the past you also knew that. Jors muttered. Raising his voice, he continued.
Nonetheless, I am done with all these puppet masters, Atlan, I will be free.
Nodding his head Atlan spoke. I will bring you to justice in the name of Astrea.
Goodbye Jors. Atlan started to glow, a holy silver radiance slowly poured out of
him, instantly mending the rents in his armor and shield. It spread from him like
mist and became brighter and brighter. The pressure on Jors slowly increased and he
found it difficult not to cower in front of the radiant figure in front of
Immigration Through The Eyes Of Donald Trump
Immigration through the Eyes of Donald Trump Make America great again! As
Donald Trump s slogan goes on to say; but what does it mean to make America great
again? Does it mean we need to deport all the immigrants back to their country?
Seems like Donald Trump has an idea about what can be done to improve our country.
Trump has to be the most controversial presidential candidate running in the 2016
election, and his opinion about the immigrationpolicy is his most talked about issue
that continues to be involved in his campaign. Throughout the presidential campaign,
Donald Trumphas been the center of attention when it comes to the topic of
immigration. The media has clamped onto the talk of Trump wanting to build a
wall between the U.S and Mexico, all while having the immigrants build it. With
the use of media, Trump has been able to create a sense of fear that the immigrants
bring violence and crime to our country, as well as his intention of wanting to
create a whole new system and to create a secure country. To start off, Donald
Trump has taken into account that using fear as a tactic to help further him along in
the election is right way to go. According to the article The Politics of Fear: Why
Donald Trump is no Laughing Matter it states, After all, the United States is a
country that is often moved by fear and hatred, rather than love for fellow citizens
(Anderson, William). It has shown all throughout our history that fear is a way to get
the people to listen and

Brine Shrimp Case Study
3.Brine shrimp have survived successfully since the Triassic period, around 200
million years this has been possible through their unique adaptations which have
enabled them to avoid predators and suit their environment. They are pretty good
at surviving except in space (who knew radiation isn t good for shrimp). One of the
best adaptations the brine shrimp have is their ability to survive in waters of very
high salinity (up to 25%). There optimal levels of salinity are 3 3.5% but they are
rarely found in waters below 6 8% salinity for the same reason this adaptation is so
good, no predators occupy waters with this level of salinity. With this adaptation
they are protected from much predation and have very few predators except for
birds. Another reason there environment is good for their survival is that it is so
widespread. Salt water lakes are found all over the world. They also use autotomy in

Firstly adult female brine shrimp ovulate approximately every 140 hours and in
optimal conditions the fertilised eggs can almost immediately hatch, even over a
relatively short lifetime of a year this is a lot of young. They have another brilliant
reproductive adaption; while in extreme conditions, such as low oxygen level or
salinity above 15‰, female brine shrimp produce eggs with a chorion coating
which has a brown colour. These eggs, also known as cysts, are metabolically
inactive and can remain in total stasis for two years while in dry oxygen free
conditions, even at temperatures below freezing. The shrimp have also been able
to survive dangerous salinity levels as the eggs wait to hatch if the salinity levels
are too high. Once placed back in briny water the eggs hatch within a few hours.
This ability also has enabled them to spread the population by the eggs travelling on
the feet of birds. They have also been known to reproduce asexually by
parthenogenesis in the absence of
Isaac Asimov Self Driving Cars
In 1953, Isaac Asimov wrote a story about self driving cars. It shares many
similarities to what is happening right now and what will happen in the future.
There are even articles talking about self driving cars that share many similarities to
what happened in Sally. There are pro s and con s to self drivingcars, and these
articles feature both. The negatives of self driving cars in the articles are similar to
the negatives in Sally, just like the positives in the articles are similar to the positives
in Sally.

being able to drive themselves. Not because police are going soft but because you

Another futurist paints a more chilling picture, where the driverless world intersects
with terrorism. (Washington) They found him dead, she said. Imagine that. Just
lying dead in a ditch. , It might be a stranger altogether, I mumbled. (Asimov 14) In
the article, it talks about terrorists being able to use the cars for malevolent deeds. In
Sally, the cars also can injure and kill people. Cars need to have safety features so
that terrorists and other people with bad intentions can t use them for their terrible
agendas.
Self driving cars will be much more safe if humans are not behind their wheels. All
that s needed to remove humans entirely from the equation is for the cars to better
learn to read and respond to the roads. (Washington) In all that time, there d never
been a human being behind her wheel. Not once. (Asimov 1) Both articles reference
self driving cars not needing human assistance. The both talk about how much more
safe the roads will be if humans are not in control of the vehicles.
Both the articles about self driving cars and Sally share many, many similarities.
Hopefully, self driving continue to evolve and the market continues to grow. We
may be able to use them in may more ways than we could have ever imagined. They
could cause issues, but we should be able to solve them. Self driving cars are already
in the making, and will soon be the
College At Oneonta For My Masters
All of my experiences in life have lead me to apply to SUNY College at Oneonta
for my Masters of Science in Education. I have many goals, both professional and
academic that are related to school counseling. All throughout school I had many
inspirational school counselors that molded who I am today. This set me up for
success in my collegecareer. Upon entering college, I began to appreciate the
importance of planning and organization in order to build the life I wanted for
myself. While completing the application process for graduate schoolI realized that
everything I had done over the years lead to this moment. I thoroughly enjoyed
applying for schools, only because I had the confidence and motivation from my
many mentors and counselors surrounding me. My friends would ask for my
assistance everyday during their own educational planning and I knew I wanted to
make a career out of it. During these experiences, I learned the importance of
discovering a meaningful life path. This is the most important aspect I will instill
in the students I work with on a daily basis. I was lucky enough to have an amazing
counselor at my undergraduate college. Jennifer Rooney, Director of Career
Development and Engagement at St. Joseph s College, provided me with amazing
advice regarding school counseling. She motivated me to follow through with my
dream and encouraged me to use my past experiences as a way to succeed in the
field of School Counseling. Working with children is my
Analysis Of The Article The Accidents Of Nature By...
The article Redefining Normal: A Critical Analysis of (Dis)ability in Young Adult
Literature by Jen Scott Curwood discusses the importance of proper disability
representation in young adult literature for the benefit of school children. Curwood
writes young adult literature should not only provide accurate portrayals of
individuals with disabilities, but must offer themes that are not didactic,
condescending, or pedantic (Curwood, 18) because literature about disabilities and
differences can be a powerful tool to heighten the achievement of all students by
broadening attitudes and perceptions of self and other (18). She also argues that if
schools don t include diverse characters and topics, then that effectively condones
prejudice and stereotypes and continues to further the othering aspect. In contrast to
Me Before You, the book Accidents of Nature by Harriet McBryde Johnson is a
book that provides readers with both a positive representation of life with disabilityas
well as showing a wide range of disabilities. Accidents of Nature is set in the year
1970 and is about a seventeen year old girl named Jean who has cerebral palsy and
uses a wheelchair to get around. Despite her condition, Jean has always thought of
herself as the same as everyone else as she goes to a normal , abled bodied school
and has normal abled bodied friends. She has never even known another disabled
person before going to Camp Courage for a week, a camp solely for disabled youths.
A Brief History of the Cellar Phone
There have been many inventions that have served Americans, but very few have
had an overall impact on the course of humanity as the cell phone. The history of
cell phones has been compared to our discovery of fire and the invention of the
wheel. This is partly due to its adaptability to many aspects of human life, as well as
its mobility to influence and reach geographical areas that extend to global ones.
Around the world, cell phones are used in schools, corporate conglomerates, even
religious institutes. Although use of them in cars has been banned in many American
states, they continue to govern the way we live our lives. From its advent, the cell
phone has changed the way humans not only communicate, but how information is...

The first one was the infrastructure needed. There was great need to create a system
that would be easily adaptable within these occupations, while at the same time
offering security and reliability without interfering with each other. A cell phone
works as a series of non invasive processes and actions. When a person dials a
number on a handset, this number is converted into an electronic signal. This
signal is then relayed to a base station. The base stations are also known as masts
and they are the towers seen along road sides and atop buildings. From these
towers, the electronic signal is transferred from one base station to another as it
seeks a corresponding receiver in the form of another handset. When this signal
matches, the phone rings and it can only be regarded as connected when the other
party takes the call. This amazing technological advancement opened up new
avenues in how we communicate. In the near future, a new process, LTE, or Long
Term Evolution, is the new globally accepted 4G wireless standard. All of the U.S.
carriers are turning it on (PC Magazine).Communication can also be considered as
another process. The audio signal form one speaker is transformed into an electronic
signal when it gets into the mobile phone. This is transferred to the recipient phone as
an electronic signal and then transformed back into the original audio format. This is
how an individual manages to speak with another even when
The Relationship Between Old Age And Older Age
Recently, there has not been much written about the relationship between art and
aging, or aging artists. We face an aging population, meaning the average age is
rising, and there are more elderly people in proportion to young people. In order to
better care for and understand the growing elderly population, there must be research
and advancements made in all areas pertaining to human growth, longevity, quality of
life, and wellbeing. Past research has shown that art and art related activities are
beneficial to elderly people, however this topic should be revisited in order to bring
attention to the benefits of the artistic process and encourage elderly participation.
In the sixteenth century, artists were severely limited by the effects of old age. In her
article on the effects of aging on sixteenth century artists, Erin Campbell (2002)
explores the pressures placed on artists by both physical decline and by art critics.
According to Campbell (2002), the social expectations of the time required artists
to give up art as a profession; a push largely influenced by art critics. Artists who
grew old and were not hindered by the physical aspects of age and continued to
produce work for sale were heavily criticized (Campbell, 2002). Campbell (2002)
provides the example of the artist Titan receiving harsh reviews from an art critic
named Vasari, for painting his final pieces. In sharp contrast, Vasari praises other
aged artists for their later works on the grounds that they

There is yet another disadvantage of the reservation system. The thought behind
reservation was to give everyone equal opportunities and reduce the social gap
between people caused by having different opportunities and responsibility in the
society. But it seems that they may be reinforcing the caste divisions.
Reservation enhances the identity politics and gives castes and ethnicity more
importance in the Indian society. In a country with such a huge diversity in religions,
beliefs and traditions, caste based reservations seem to be another way of fragmenting
the nation instead of bringing people together. (fokusindia.no)(Caste based
reservations: enhancing the differences?)
In this way, reservation system brutally perpetuates the caste system,a system which
everyone feels we need to do away with for better progress and development.

can react to this more nimbly than established competitors. How technological change
affects the supply chain coordination of incumbents from developed economies and
new entrants from emerging economies should strongly determine the speed of

When working out one can choose many exercises that will strengthen muscle and
burn fat. The IDEA website has many videos that will provide exercises to define
and build muscles for yourself or those you may coach. The exercise I chose is the
wide reverse grip barbell deadlift. This exercise has many benefits including fat
burning; it is one of the safest exercises. So many multiple muscles are stimulated in
the process, and you will obtain better posture, and it increases hormones for growth
in your body. This exercisegives more benefits than a squat or a hamstring curl,
which are both exercises that work the lower body like this deadlift except this one
targets more muscles.

The population, sample and procedure will be covered in the following sections.
Sample The population will be gathered from all adolescent girls ages 5 15 in
Lubbock, TX. Given that children develop a self concept at the age of 6, 120
African American female children ages 6 8 will be invited to participate in the
study from North, South, East and West Lubbock. This is the equivalence to a
child s first, second and third grade level. Prior to any participant recruitment or
data collection, all procedures will be approved by the school district and written
parental consent will be obtained for each participating girl. Verbal consent will be

Positive Effects Of The Crusades
The Crusades have often been portrayed in a negative way and have been perceived
to be guilty in the eyes of modern day people. On the other hand, the wars have had
a great benefit in Europe and the future of The Crusades or also known as the holy
wars were conflicts between the Western Christians and the Eastern Muslims. These
Crusadeswere very impactful in a positive way during the events and the effects of
the wars. The Positive influences that led to the Crusade wars and what motivated the
Crusaders to journey into the middle east to retake the holy landby their religious
beliefs of Christianity. For example, the Crusaders believed that to fight for
Christianity was the right thing to do and it would help them find favor in God

The Crusades affected trading in Europe for the better, improved European lives
and cities like Venice. The new products stimulated the growing commercial life of
the West. Venice and Genoa, the ports from which much of the produce of the East
was funneled into Europe, prospered exceedingly (Anderson). This proves that the
Crusades in fact assisted in the wealth and prosperity in Europe when before
Europe was struggling after the Middle East expansion into their land. After the
wars, their legacy made the first steps to the financial tools used in modern times.
Thus the Crusades contributed to the introduction of new products and helped
create the conditions that led to modern methods of finance (Anderson). The
Crusades ended up improving and creating new methods and tools which helped
advance finance that is normally used currently. Another effect the Crusades had
on the Europeans were the realization that Muslims were not what they thought
they were. Moreover, the discovery that all Muslims were not savage beasts, that
profit lay in trade relations with them, and that coexistence was possible, must
have broadened the outlook of those who made the discovery (Anderson).
Europeans discovered that it was possible they could live together in peace
regardless of religious differences and by trading with one another both sides
benefit from each other. After the events of the wars, it opened the outlook of the
world to the Europeans and opened their minds to explore other places. Finally, the
incentive given to geographical discovery led various travelers, such as the
celebrated Italian, Marco Polo, and the scarcely less noted Englishman, Sir John
Mandeville, to explore the most remote countries of Asia (Alchin). This led many
explorers like Marco Polo to discover, meet and open relations between Europe and
Asia to
Bp Deep Water Horizontal Explosion
INTRODUCTION BP originated from a British petroleum company founded in
1909. After experiencing crises during the 1980s 1990s, the company started to
have a cost cutting culture. During mid 1990s, with an aggressive growth strategy,
BP started to grow and reposition. After BP merged with Amoco in 1998, John
Browne started to serve as chief executive until May 2007. Browne repositioned BP
as a green oil company after he took over and practiced the model of organizational
decision making strategy, known as asset federation. Under this new strategy, onsite
asset managers had the authority to make decisions, and employees compensation
was directly tied to asset performance (Ingersoll et. al, 4). Many decisions made by

working fine at court (Ingersoll et. al, 16). The drilling engineers of the Macondo
project were warned about potential risks, but they willfully ignored the warnings
and insisted everything would work fine. Such bias and rationalized behavior of
drilling engineers just added another warning sign to the explosion of Deepwater
Horizon. Secondly, BP s business relationships are complex, and the legitimate
priorities often conflict (Crews). BP s failure to prevent the explosion was due in
part to complex partnership. BP held the rights to drill using the rig and operation
services leased from Transocean. As a result, of the 126 people aboard the
Deepwater Horizon, 79 were from Transocean, seven were from BP, and the rest
were from other firms (Ingersoll et. al, 1). People serving on Deepwater Horizon
came from different organizations. A decision making process involved many
authorities, which decreased the efficiency and effectiveness of decision making.
Even though BP maintained main operational authority, only six percent of people
aboard the Deepwater Horizon rig were from BP. As an important business partner of
BP, Transocean provided the equipment and performed the majority of the work, and
thereafter it had some authority over operations and maintenance. The complex
business partnership caused serious
Assassin s Creed History
Video games were first created for the sole purpose of entertainment. We found that
people loved to play video games and started to play them as much as they watched
TV. Educators and game developers decided to use that to their advantage by
implementing facts and details to help teach and fuel learning in video games. Even
video games that have a sole purpose of entertainment have historically accurate
stories. In this new age of gaming, video games are now able to provide
entertainment and knowledge.
Markedly, some games were designed solely for education. On December 3, 1971, a
new educational game was created: The Oregon Trail. The game was produced by a
team in Minnesota to teach students about how hard life was when pioneers traversed

One game series that depicts multiple instances throughout history is Assassin s
Creed. The series has a total of 11 major games, which span multiple time periods
and locations. It features a setting in Jerusalem during the third crusade, Italy during
the Renaissance, New England during the Revolutionary War, the Caribbean during
the colonial era, Louisiana during the colonial era, France during the French
Revolution, England during the Victorian era, and Egypt during ancient Egypt (49
B.C). To be sure that they are historically accurate in their depiction of an era, the
developers speak with historians about said era. Each game has the player involved
with real world historical events and figures, such as the player helping Paul Revere
warns multiple people that the British are approaching Lexington. The newest game
takes place in ancient Egypt, and contains a feature called Discovery Tour , which
disables combat and allows the player to freely explore Egypt, as though it were a
museum. The game, while having grim gameplay, still incorporates accurate
historical facts about the era. Assassin s Creed is a very successful franchise, and in
effect, has inadvertently taught it s many players about

Friedrich Durrenmatt s epic tragicomedy The Visit is a haunting commentary on the
nature of mankind and morality. Bringing to the surface many questions about the
difference between justice and revenge, the play is constructed in a way that leaves
the reader at once perplexed and conflicted. The difference between right and wrong
is often overlooked and even contorted in order to conform with convenience as the
citizens of the town become more desperate. The Visit is both a philosophical
masterpiece and a harrowing tale of conditional morality.
From the very first mention of the millionairess Claire Zachanassian, the reader is
barraged with philosophical questions about the difference between right and wrong.

business courses were Introduction to Business and Principles of Economics. These
courses introduced me to business and showed me how to work in a business
setting. The next couple classes I took were Principles of Accounting and
Principles of Accounting II. In these classes we learned how to analyze a company

course called Introduction to Taxation. In this class we are learning how to
complete and fill out taxes. In my accounting classes, not only did we learn how to
do an income statement and a balance sheet, but we also completed a case study
where we applied it. This process gave me an overall understanding of how the
financial side of business works. In my business class we learned how the operation
of a business works. We learned market trends and learned about stocks and investing.
We also learned how negative public relationscan drastically effect the value of the
business. In my introduction to taxation class, we are currently doing case studies

A History And Stance For Benjamin Bloom s Theory
A History and Stance for Benjamin Bloom s Theory
Benjamin Samuel Bloom was an educational psychologist from America who is
remembered for his creation of Bloom s Taxonomy. This included the theory of
mastery learning and the development of the exceptional talent. All of his research
and findings lead to this foundational and vital element within the educational system.
History
Benjamin Bloom was born on February 21, 1913 in Langsford, Pennsylvania. He
received a bachelor s and master s degree from Pennsylvania State University in
1935, and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Chicago in 1942. In 1943

Also, in 1964, Bloom published the book, Stability and Change in Human
Characteristics. This was based on many studies that lead to an interest of early
childhood education, which included the beginning of Head Start. All Bloom s
research predicted that many physical and mental characteristics of adults are
somewhat present during the younger stages. Finally, Bloom made a final summary
of his work in 1980 in the book, All Our Children Learning. This showed evidence
that virtually all students can learn and function at a higher level if the appropriate
measures are taken at home and in school (Contributors, 2013).
The Taxonomy Bloom s taxonomy was created so that students would exhibit higher
thinking during instruction, like evaluating concepts, processes, procedures, and
principles, rather than remembering facts and just learning to a test. There are three
domains within this learning theory and they are cognitive, affective, and
psychomotor. Cognitive domain is a person s mental skills or knowledge. Affective
domain is the growth in feeling and emotional areas or attitude. Psychomotor
domain is manual and physical skills (Benjamin S. Bloom, 1956). Bloom s theory
is a way to set the goals of the learning process. In a sense, this means that a student
should acquire a new skill, piece of knowledge, and/or a new type of attitude (Paul,
1985). Originally, only the
The Significance of Vietnam War Essays
The Significance of The Vietnam War Within one generation, The United States
have experienced The Second World War, The Korean War and fifteen years of The
Cold War crisis. The Vietnam War was the last drop into the cup of American
patience. The costs of The Vietnam War were intolerable, because they contravened
traditional American values and hopes. In the year 1965, American government
announced, with public support, that America is going to win the guerilla war and
defeat the global communist conspiracy . It also promised to build free institutions in
South East Asia. Two years later, in the year 1967, the same affair was considered

On March 29 in 1973, the last American troops left Vietnam, leaving thousands of
missing behind. The same day, a few hundreds of war prisoners were released in
Hanoi. Within a couple of months, the war between the North and the South was
restored and it was soon apparent that the communists are more unified and have a
military dominance. In Cambodia and Laos, where the fights were not so strong, the
communist victory also seemed unavoidable. In March 1975 the northern Vietnam
commenced a complete military invasion in the South. Southern president Thieu
asked Washington for help, but the democratic majority in the Congress refused and
on March 30, the Americans could watch on TV how North Vietnamese tanks enter
Saigon, which was soon renamed to Ho Chi Min s town. Scenes in American
embassy in Saigon, where thousands of scared Vietnamese fought for places on
board of last American helicopters were a sad ending of the biggest American
foreign policy catastrophe. The Vietnam War caused one of the great shifts in U.S.
foreign policy. The U.S. would no longer be the quot;world s policeman, quot; which
was how she viewed herself since the Second World War. She would no longer
recklessly jump militarily into the affairs of other countries, even if major problems
occurred, including Communist uprisings or human rights violations. The U.S.
government would make more careful
Workers Compensation System
Workers compensation provides cash and medical benefits to workers who are
injured or become ill in the course of their employment and benefits to the
survivors of workers killed on the job. Benefits are provided without regard to fault
and are the exclusive remedy for workplace injuries, illnesses, and deaths. Nearly
all workers and employers in the United States are covered by workers
compensation and each state, with the exception of Texas, has a mandatory
workers compensation system. In 2105 more than 135 million workers accounting
for more than $7.1 trillion in wages, were covered by a state or federal workers
compensation system. When a covered worker is injured becomes sick or dies as a
result of his or her employment, that worker is entitled to full medical coverage for
the injury or illness, cash benefits to replace a portion of wages lost due to inability
to work, and benefits for surviving family members in case of death. Employers are

The federal government has only a limited role in the provision of workers
compensation because most workers are covered by state laws. Although every state
has a workers compensation system and in all but one state workers compensation or
an equivalent is mandatory, there is no federal mandate that states must have
workers compensation, no federal standards for state programs and no federal
oversight of state systems. Prior to the establishment of workers compensation laws
at the beginning of the 20th century, the civil courts were the only avenue for the
adjudication of disputes over responsibility for employment related injuries, illnesses,
and deaths, and the courts could order employers to provide compensation to injured
workers or the survivors of workers killed on the job if it was determined that the
employer was negligent. Under the common law doctrine of negligence, the
Case Study On Knee Replacement
1.My mother has knee pain for many years and recently it has worsened. She has
some deformity around the knees and can barely walk more than 10 15 minutes.
What should be done?
Recent worsening of chronic knee pain and deformity probably indicates that knee
arthritis has reached advanced stage i.e. the protective lining of the joint is nearly
completely worn out. At this stage, pain medication often doesn t help much. Rather,
one may suffer from dangerous side effects of prolonged pain medication therapy on
heart, liver, kidney, stomach and intestines. It is recommended that one should
consult a joint specialist and get certain X rays. If it is advanced arthritis, then one
should consider knee replacement to get rid of the problem.
2.What do you mean by knee replacement?
It is a surgical procedure in which the damaged or worn out cartilage lining of the
joint is removed and replaced with an artificial implant thus removing the cause of

Competition in the beverage industry is extremely intense. Competitors continually
introduce new innovative products and consumers are bombarded by numerous
choices and promotions. Nantucket Nectars has been successful with increasing
sales and continually innovating new products, and grown to a middle sized
company. This position proves to be a dangerous one as it does not possess the
financial strength of a large company but yet may not have the nimbleness and
innovativeness of a small company. In addition, the entrance of big players such as
Coke, Pepsi and Tropicana (Seagram) with strong financial standing may reduce their
revenue.
Furthermore, the past few years saw Nantucket maturing and it has begun to
stabilize as a company. This is a dangerous period for the company as they will
reach a crisis should they not undergo renewal in order to rejuvenate and stay
relevant as well as competitive.
Therefore, it will be advantageous for Nantucket Nectars to form strategic alliance in
order to leverage on the financial strength of its counterpart or parent company to
obtain shelf space in supermarket chains. With an extension of the distribution
channels, they would be able to gain a greater market share.
Should First and Scott sell Nantucket Nectars?
From the SWOT analysis, my recommendation would be for the founders to sell part
of their company. This will form a symbiotic relationship whereby Nantucket Nectars

Play Coaches Research Paper
Coaches come from many different backgrounds. Some are former players, some
are students of the game, and some just want to learn a new skill. Growing up, I

these coaches have taught me different ways to coach the game. My sport of choice is

Generally if you get a hit 30% of the time you are considered an above average
player. There is a fine line between being a good player, or a below average player.
Some call it luck, but above average players can certainly be developed. I want to
coach to help develop these above average players. I want to teach that if you work
hard enough and put in your time you can elevate your game. I ve seen it work for
many people that have put the time in, and would enjoy to help these players get
better. Another aspect that explains my interest in coaching, is that there are many
new methods used that can help win games, and that can help develop players. The
methods used when I was young have now been discredited, yet many coaches still
use them. I would have interest implementing the newly researched methods.
Finally sports are about more than winning and losing at the end of the day. I want
to coach to help these men learn to work together as a team. This is an essential
aspect of their future and they need to learn to use this skill. Players also need to
learn to be respectful and responsible. If you make an error it happens, I would
hope my players would learn from it. I don t believe in embarrassing them after
that, they know they made a mistake, and they need to know how to fix it, not that
they made a mistake. I also want to coach because too many players are disrespectful
to officials in today s game. I don t go after umpires, and I would expect my players
to act in the same

June 11, 2015 was the night I learned a very important lesson. I learned that all of my

It was a hot summer night in South Carolina and all of my friends and I were
getting ready to go to a Waka Flocka Flame concert at the House of Blues. We had all

then arrived at our friends house to hangout before. We were all having a great
time and finally decided to leave the house to go to the concert. Once we pulled
into the parking lot, I remembered that I had forgotten to use the restroom. I had to

hold it in. I quickly searched the surroundings and sadly, I didn t see any porta potty

Truman Doctrine Essay
Truman had no foreign policy experience but now as the Commander and Chief he

that was the possibility of an attack by the Japanese.
Truman approved of the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

When marijuana was illegal police would have to question and sometimes arrest
people that were in possession of marijuana. Now, with marijuana being legal
police no longer have to question and or arrest those in possession of marijuana

Lastly, one of the best benefits for legalizing marijuana is that people that could
not afford the medical marijuana card in the past and wanted to use marijuana for
treatment for their medical condition, now can go buy marijuana without the
medical card at retail stores. Many people with different medical conditions like
Aids/HIV, Alzheimer s, Arthritis, Asthma, Cancer, Crohn s Disease, Epilepsy,
Glaucoma and Multiple Sclerosis can benefit from marijuana and won t have to

work on more important issues, and more people can use it for medical issues. In the
end I feel that the legalizing of marijuana has hugely benefited my community, my

and ambitions. My whole life I have studied human behavior and analyzed why
people act a certain way. I also like to help others and I want to give people the best
lives that they can live. Being a psychiatrist would make me happy because I could
learn more about human minds and the way they work by also helping people who
are mentally and emotionally suffering. I had to make hard decisions on which car
and house to buy. Firstly, I chose to buy a large family home which cost $199,900
because I thought it was a reasonable price for a home with four bedrooms and two
bathrooms. The house also has a warm and happy exterior which is very important to
me. I know that if I have a family someday they would enjoy living in our house too.
The car I bought was a New 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan SE. I bought this car
because not only because it was a nice price of $21,879, but because it s a big and
safe minivan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After tax, food, and necessities, I still had thousands of dollars that I could put
towards my family and entertainment. My job is perfect for me and i make lots of
money while doing what I love most (helping people I think this is obvious by
now). I know as a student I would have to work as hard as I possibly can to become a
psychiatrist, because I would need to go through many extra years of school. I
also will need to focus more on science because it will be essential for me to
become a psychiatrist. If I were to mess around during high school and not focus on
my future then I would most likely never be able to be a psychiatrist. To reach my
goal I need to be more confident and work my absolute hardest, because I m very
ambitious about what I want and I will do anything to achieve my goal of being a
psychiatrist (hopefully with a nice salary
Teenage Dating in the 1950s Essay examples
Teenage Dating in the 1950s
Teenagers in the 1950 s are so iconic that, for some, they represent the last
generation of innocence before it is lost in the sixties. When asked to imagine this
lost group, images of bobbysoxers, letterman jackets, malt shops and sock hops
come instantly to mind. Images like these are so classic, they, for a number of
people, are as American as apple pie. They are produced and perpetuated by the
media, through films like Grease and Pleasantville and television shows like Happy
Days, The Donna Reed Show, and Leave It to Beaver. Because of these entertainment
forums, these images will continue to be a pop cultural symbol of the 1950 s. After
the second World War, teenagers became much more noticeable in... Show more

She then is given the option of accepting his call by letting him in or rejecting it by
making up an excuse as to why she cannot see him. Refreshments were often served
(though not always), and the entertainment was primarily piano playing in the parlor.
But because the lower classes were not so well endowed so that they own pianos or
even parlors, they started their own form of courtship which soon became known as
dating. This practice was soon picked up by the upper classes, and from there it
progressed into the middle class, with which it is still inherently associated today
(Bailey 17).
Calling and dating are so intrinsically different it is hard to imagine how the
transition from one to another was even made. Firstly, calling was practiced with the
intention of finding a suitable husband for a young lady; whereas, in dating, this
was, and still is, not the primary goal. People date because it is enjoyable, pleasant,
and valuable (Merrill 62), and they thought that they could gain rewarding
experiences from it. In the fifties and surrounding decades, handbooks and other
books exploring relationships described dating as a fun activity in which teens are
allowed to meet and mingle with many members of the opposite sex. Besides, dating
allowed young people to be with each other without their parents interfering.

1.INTRODUCTION
Research in the genome sequencing technology have been creating an enormous
amount of genomic sequencing data as its main objective is gene identification. In
the eukaryotes, the prediction of a coding region depends upon the exon intron
structures recognition. Whereas its very challenging to predict exon intron structure
in sequence due to its complexity of structure and vast length. Research analysis on
the human genome have nearly 20,000 25,000 protein coding genes [1]. Still, there
are nearly 100,000 genes in human genome. Which indicates a huge number of genes
are still unidentified [2,3]. Most of the computational techniques
Decision Making Model
RUNNING HEAD: DECISION MAKING MODEL Decision Making Model MGT
350 University of Phoenix Abstract Decision making models can be very effective
in problem solving. Scheduling is a big problem at Direct HomeHealth Care and a
solution needed to be found. Scheduling software which can be very expensive was
the only conclusion that could be reached. With much thought and analysis a
resolution was reached with critical thought and a decision making model from the
Small Business Development Center. Decision making models can be very helpful
in analyzing a problem and setting up a step by step process to evaluate and come to
a favorable conclusion. Recently there has been a problem at my agency with
scheduling and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Training CDs were used by the schedulers to familiarize themselves with the new
program. They were able to take these CDs home and were paid for a total of five
hours of training. New computers were purchased for each office scheduler and
also for the on call scheduler. A networking system was set up with a router and
wireless networking software. Evaluation of the new program is the last step in
the decision making model. The program had to be evaluated to determine its
success in solving the problem. The program has proven to be very effective and
has resulted in a higher efficiency rate and higher patient satisfaction. The program
has also cut back considerably on the man power and time needed to accomplish
weekly payroll and billing. The conclusion is that this software has been a very
positive investment and there are no regrets as to purchasing and implementing
the program. A decision making process based on critical thought and data leads to
good decisions. Some decisions affect several people and some only a few. The
scheduling decision at Direct HomeHealth Care involved several people and was
not to be taken lightly. The decision making model from the Small Business
Development Center is a very effective tool in decision making and breaks the
process down into several steps which can be utilized by any business to assist with
difficult choices. References Small business development center: decision making

Family Is An Important Role Of My Family
Family plays an important role in every society. It is the main structure that made up
a good society. Samovar, Porter McDaniel (2015) write, families are instrumental in
teaching young people about their identities, how they fit into their culture, and
where to find security (p.73). Family is the first school in one s life. In the early
stages of our life, we learn how to eat, speak, communicate, and behave from our
family, consciously and unconsciously we imitate our parents. In my religion (Islam)
there is a great deal of attention to the importance of marriageand making family.
Prophet Mohammad said, The best of you is the best to his family and I am the best
amongst you to my family . Moreover, Islam assign a role to each member of the
family, as parents take care of their children and the children should respect and obey
their motherand father. I totally agree with Samovar, Porter McDaniel (2015) when
they mentioned that the three most influential social organizations are (1) family, (2)
state, and (3) religion (p.70). For me, I believe that my family shapes most of my
identity.
In my country (Saudi Arabia), most families are large and extended. Personally, I
have 3 brothers and 4 sisters. I grow up in an educated family. My mom was an
elementary school teacher. I still remember my mom s classroom and I still
remember how she prepared her lessons and the tools that she used in the class.
During that time, I liked how the students love and respect her. I
Analysis Of The Oath Of Horatii By Jacques-Louis David
Inspirational works of art, such as the Oath of the Horatii, will forever be
remembered throughout history. It was unique in that it inspired two revolutions:
the emergence of the neoclassical style and the French Revolution. This
progressive piece was painted in 1784 by the French artist Jacques Louis David,
who looked to the classics as guidance for his work. The results embodied the
ideals of the Age of Enlightenment, which was at its peak in the 1700s. Ironically,
although it was originally commissioned by the Administrator of Royal Residences,
the Oath became a piece of anti monarchy propaganda ( Jacques Louis David ). The
Oath acts almost as a foreshadowing of David s future participation in the revolution,
while also clearly expressing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term neoclassicism is derived from the Greek word nГ©os, meaning new or
revived, and classicism, referring to the features of ancient Greece and Rome (
Neoclassicism ). Artwork of this nature typically draws its stylistic inspiration from
Greek and Roman art, primarily its paintings, frescoes, and bas relief sculptures.
Specific attributes of neoclassical artwork, including simplicity, shallow space,
strong linear aspects, and a clear, precise form, can all be traced back to the classical
arts ( Neoclassicism, an Introduction ). Through the usage of a shortened one point
perspective, David directs the essential components of the Oath of the Horatii to the
foreground. The lighting highlights and outlines the figures, giving it the effect of
being pushed out of the painting. He uses three arches to frame the subject and
establish the background, practically forcing the viewer to focus on the people. This
technique is similarly used in Roman relief sculpture, where key features are
emphasized by being given a more prominent
The Differing Perspectives of the Patriots and Loyalists...
Patriots vs Loyalists Being subjected to public humilation in front of massive crowds
with harsh punishments, the loyalists found themselves in a tough predicament
between the radicals and their independence from Britian while the loyalists thought
differently. Most of the loyalists found their properties vandalized, looted and burned
by angry mobs of men. There was no doubt that the patriots of the thirteen colonies
controlled the public discourse. There was bound to be a revolt against the British by
the patriots because they didn t agree against the policies imposed by the British
parliament. The patriots of The New World have a much more logical reasoning than
the loyalists because they felt that the British parliament was in... Show more content

James Otis mentions No part of His Majesty s dominions can be taxed without their
consent... this would seem to [contradict] the theory of the constitution which
explains that the governed must have a say in what they will be taxed on and if not,
the British Parliament is par taking in illegal actions. With no representation in
Parliament, American colonists who felt the taxes to be a little excessive had no
other option other than civil disobedience to rebel. It is safe to to say that the
colonists had every right to rebel against the British. Unlike other acts and taxes
imposed by the British parliament the Stamp Act effected everyone in the colonies
even the colonists who remained loyal to King eventhough, all the colonies were all
equally effected by this act imposed by the British. This meant that all legal
documents including permits, contracts, newspapers and even playing cards had to
carry a tax stamp, the revenue (collected by American customs agents) was
supposedly to be used for defending, protecting and securing the colonies, but the
patriots would have thought differently. They just wanted to be independent from
Britian. There was little expectation from Britian and the members of parliament of
how intense of a protest that the Stamp Act would generate in America. As mentioned
before, the colonists didn t like to be taxed by Britian any more because they felt
living separate from the mother country would only decrease the amount of taxation

The Statue Of Liberty, The Washington Monument
Monuments preserve a memory that serves as a reminder of a significant event or
person. The Statue of Liberty, the Washington Monument, Bunker Hill Monument
these structures honor and immortalize remarkable occurrences in history, people, or
concepts; and when it is time to construct a monument, many aspects of the
established memorialneed to be planned. Factors a group or agency should consider
when memorializing an event or person and in creating a monumentis the location,
which should be in the area that was most significant to the person or event. When
memorials are placed in an inappropriate spot, the message is skewed, and there
seems to be of little relevance if the monument is not where the impact was most
prominent. You would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, agencies or groups should consider location when memorializing an event or
person and when constructing a monument because the place can be improper in
regards to the history of the memorial; that is why, with the Holocaust museum, many
were outraged because it was going to be in a location that did little to stop the
Holocaust from occurring.
In Source A, it states, communities . . . come together in an act of [viewing] a holy
site, [and] seeing as relic. In context, the article illustrates the magnificence of
seeing monuments, for it offers an . . . experience: a face to face encounter in a
specifically valued place. When memorializing a person or event, and when
constructing the monument itself, Source A clearly demonstrates that the location
is similar to observing a holy site, or a relic. The place is incredibly important when
considering memorializing something, for merely making a trip to the memorial is
extraordinary, and incredible to encounter . . . in a specifically valued place. To
reword, location is a factor of memorializing an event or person and when
constructing the monument that should be considered because it amplifies the
experience, for the author of Source A conveys it to be like [viewing] a holy site, and
seeing a relic in a valued place.
Another reason why location should be considered when memorializing an event or
person, and when constructing the monument, is because location is critical for the
monument s

  • 2. evaluation of the WMM CEP Evaluation of the Working Memory Model Atkinson s and Shiffrin s (1968) multi store model was extremely successful in terms of the amount of research it generated. However, as a result of this research, it became apparent that there were a number of problems with their ideas concerning the characteristics of short term memory. Building on this research, Baddeley and Hitch (1974) developed an alternative model of short term memory which they called working memory. Baddeley and Hitch (1974) argued that the picture of short term memory (STM) provided by the Multi Store Model is far too simple. According to the Multi Store Model, STM holds limited amounts of information for short periods of time with relatively little processing. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is helpful to think of it as the system that you use to mentally rehearse information by repeating it over and over again4. And the Phonological Store (The Inner Ear but not to be confused with the canals in your actual ear) The phonological store uses a sound based code to store information, but this information decays after about 2 seconds, unless it is rehearsed by the articulatory control system. The phonological store receives its input either directly from the ears or from long term memory. If you imagine your favourite piece of music you are using your phonological store.5 The phonological loop explains why the word length effect occurs the fact that people cope better with short words than long words in working memory (short term memory). It would appear that the phonological loop holds the amount of information that you can say within 2 seconds (Baddeley et al, 1975). This makes it hard to remember a list of long words such as anthropomorphic and representative compared to shorter words like walk or again . The longer can t be rehearsed on the phonological loop because they don t fit (into the two second limit). But the word length effect goes away if a person is given an articulatory suppression task, for instance if you are asked to say the the the... while reading a group of words. When Wyatt got to them he walked up and said You sons of bitches you wanted a fight well now you have one that is a direct quote. The question of which side actually drew their guns first is still debated today, but it s believed that Virgil Earp pulled out his revolver and shot Billy Clanton in the chest at point blank range, while Doc Holliday killed Tom McLaury with a blast from his double barreled shotgun. Wyatt Earp shot Frank McLaury in the stomach, and the wounded man staggered out into the street but managed to pull his gun and return fire. Meanwhile, Ike Clanton and Billy Claiborne ran for their lives. The wounded Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton both managed to get off several shots before collapsing, and Virgil, Morgan, and Doc were all hit. The sherrif of tombstone watched the gun fight and charged Wyatt Earp with murder then a month later the charge was taken off. But, despite its name, the gunfight actually occurred in a narrow lot six doors west of the rear entrance to the O.K. Corral on Fremont Street, and also in the street. Another famous gunfight Wyatt Earp was known for was killing Curly Bill while leaving Arizona. Wyatt Earp was told
  • 4. Biology of a Squid Essay Biology of a Squid Squids are among the most varied and unique of all invertebrates. They are mollusks of the Class Cephalopod, along with the nautilus, cuttlefish, and octopus. Squids are highly evolved, and have developed a number of traits uncommon to most other mollusks. Fossil records of cephalopods have dated back the Cambrian Period (about 600 million years ago). Structurally, squids have only small variations of a basic theme common to all cephalopods. They are spherical or cigar shaped with two fins used to stabilize movement when swimming. Ten arms are easily distinguished emerging from near the mouth Eight of these arms each have four rows of suction cups encircled by rings of chitinous (horny) hooks. These suction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Squids (and cephalopods in general) possess several unusual abilities that help them deal with their predators (which range anything from large fish to sperm whales). Their lack of an external shell allows them to squeeze into very tight places, enabling them to conveniently and easily hide from their enemies. When confronted with a dangerous animal away from hiding places, however, squids seem to have a disadvantage when compared to other mollusks with external shells. If attacked, they have no exterior protection. To counter this potential crisis, they have adapted a number of tactics. First, they are capable of temporarily altering the color of their skin, in effect camouflaging themselves. They can shift their appearance from a deep brown color, to a white, or almost transparent quality. Along with this, they are able to slightly change the texture of their skin. This form of camouflage allows the squid to take the form of rocks, seaweed, or other ocean dwelling objects. If a hazardous foe is not fooled by camouflage, the squid can release an ink cloud. The ink cloud has a number of helpful characteristics that can ward off enemies. The cloud initially causes the nearby water to become dark and cloudy, reducing the enemy s visibility and allowing the squid to escape from danger. Some deep sea squids contain bacteria in their ink so that the cloud glows, and scares away harmful rivals.
  • 5. Monster Study Stuttering Theory The Monster Study Wendell Johnson devised the Monster study in 1939 at the Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home in Dayton, Iowa to find the true cause of stuttering, which he and many others suffered from (Reynolds, 2003). The popular theory at the time was that stuttering was a physiological defect, meaning the brain s signals misfired; however, Johnson believed that stuttering was a learned behavior and could be unlearned (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag). To see if his hypothesis was correct, Johnson devised an experiment now known as the Monster Study. Before he could begin he requested the help of one of his students at the time, Mary Tudor, to carry out the experiment for him. Before the experiment Tudor and 5 other graduate students ranked twenty six children s speech on a scale of one to five, one being poor and five being fluent (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag). Based on this the children were separated into four groups: IA consisted of five children who stuttered, but were told nice things; IB consisted of five children who stuttered and were told negative things; IIA consisted of six children who did not stutter but, were told they did, and, IIB consisted of six children who did not stutter and were told nice things. Tudor used rehearsed responses such as, you will be able to speak even better than you are speaking now on students in IA and responses such as Don t ever speak unless you can do it right on children in IIA (Reynolds, 2003, n.pag.). Even after just two sessions,

In today s modern age with a peaceful global world trying to be put into place, we have tried to eliminate superiority between others humans and promote equality. Men superiority in United States sports is clearly displayed throughout all the leagues and actions used to display the gender differentiated leagues. There is still a spotlight on men superiority inside the government within the United States. It is very known that all the presidents that have served as the President of the United States roll have been a male and not once has a woman got on the final ballot. In Congress for example, about 21% of congress is made up of women even though a majority of Americans are women. Even though women are finding more opportunities to find jobs inside the government, most heads and people with the highest power are usually males. The males dominate all the branches of government even though the government preaches equality to the United States. In the book, Palmer says under the Second Tenet the principle goal of ethics is the giving and receiving of care appropriate to specific persons and their situations (pg. 322). I believe many people inside the United States follow this when it comes to politics with Nancy Pelosi and Hilary Clinton with having such a wide scale of people who know who they are from past endeavors like Hilary Clintons husband being Bill Clinton. Females in politics have to be in the right situations to receive care and

He hunched forward driving the staff into the ground as he studied his adversary. The silver armor was dented all over, a particularly nasty furrow on one of his greaves was probably why his nemesis was favoring his right leg and the half remnant of shield was proof that he d given as much as he d received in this fight. As Donald Trump s slogan goes on to say; but what does it mean to make America great again? Does it mean we need to deport all the immigrants back to their country? Seems like Donald Trump has an idea about what can be done to improve our country. Trump has to be the most controversial presidential candidate running in the 2016 election, and his opinion about the immigrationpolicy is his most talked about issue that continues to be involved in his campaign. Throughout the presidential campaign, Donald Trumphas been the center of attention when it comes to the topic of immigration. The media has clamped onto the talk of Trump wanting to build a wall between the U.S and Mexico, all while having the immigrants build it. With the use of media, Trump has been able to create a sense of fear that the immigrants bring violence and crime to our country, as well as his intention of wanting to create a whole new system and to create a secure country. To start off, Donald Trump has taken into account that using fear as a tactic to help further him along in the election is right way to go. According to the article The Politics of Fear: Why Donald Trump is no Laughing Matter it states, After all, the United States is a country that is often moved by fear and hatred, rather than love for fellow citizens (Anderson, William). It has shown all throughout our history that fear is a way to get the people to listen and

They are pretty good at surviving except in space (who knew radiation isn t good for shrimp). One of the best adaptations the brine shrimp have is their ability to survive in waters of very high salinity (up to 25%). There optimal levels of salinity are 3 3.5% but they are rarely found in waters below 6 8% salinity for the same reason this adaptation is so good, no predators occupy waters with this level of salinity. They have another brilliant reproductive adaption; while in extreme conditions, such as low oxygen level or salinity above 15‰, female brine shrimp produce eggs with a chorion coating which has a brown colour. These eggs, also known as cysts, are metabolically inactive and can remain in total stasis for two years while in dry oxygen free conditions, even at temperatures below freezing. The shrimp have also been able to survive dangerous salinity levels as the eggs wait to hatch if the salinity levels are too high. Once placed back in briny water the eggs hatch within a few hours. This ability also has enabled them to spread the population by the eggs travelling on the feet of birds. They have also been known to reproduce asexually by parthenogenesis in the absence of

The article Redefining Normal: A Critical Analysis of (Dis)ability in Young Adult Literature by Jen Scott Curwood discusses the importance of proper disability representation in young adult literature for the benefit of school children. Curwood writes young adult literature should not only provide accurate portrayals of individuals with disabilities, but must offer themes that are not didactic, condescending, or pedantic (Curwood, 18) because literature about disabilities and differences can be a powerful tool to heighten the achievement of all students by broadening attitudes and perceptions of self and other (18). She also argues that if schools don t include diverse characters and topics, then that effectively condones prejudice and stereotypes and continues to further the othering aspect. In contrast to Me Before You, the book Accidents of Nature by Harriet McBryde Johnson is a book that provides readers with both a positive representation of life with disabilityas well as showing a wide range of disabilities. Accidents of Nature is set in the year 1970 and is about a seventeen year old girl named Jean who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair to get around. There was great need to create a system that would be easily adaptable within these occupations, while at the same time offering security and reliability without interfering with each other. A cell phone works as a series of non invasive processes and actions. When a person dials a number on a handset, this number is converted into an electronic signal. This signal is then relayed to a base station. The base stations are also known as masts and they are the towers seen along road sides and atop buildings. From these towers, the electronic signal is transferred from one base station to another as it seeks a corresponding receiver in the form of another handset. When this signal matches, the phone rings and it can only be regarded as connected when the other party takes the call. This amazing technological advancement opened up new avenues in how we communicate. In the near future, a new process, LTE, or Long Term Evolution, is the new globally accepted 4G wireless standard. • 15. The Relationship Between Old Age And Older Age Recently, there has not been much written about the relationship between art and aging, or aging artists. We face an aging population, meaning the average age is rising, and there are more elderly people in proportion to young people. In order to better care for and understand the growing elderly population, there must be research and advancements made in all areas pertaining to human growth, longevity, quality of life, and wellbeing. Past research has shown that art and art related activities are beneficial to elderly people, however this topic should be revisited in order to bring attention to the benefits of the artistic process and encourage elderly participation. In the sixteenth century, artists were severely limited by the effects of old age. In her article on the effects of aging on sixteenth century artists, Erin Campbell (2002) explores the pressures placed on artists by both physical decline and by art critics. According to Campbell (2002), the social expectations of the time required artists to give up art as a profession; a push largely influenced by art critics. Artists who grew old and were not hindered by the physical aspects of age and continued to produce work for sale were heavily criticized (Campbell, 2002). Campbell (2002) provides the example of the artist Titan receiving harsh reviews from an art critic named Vasari, for painting his final pieces. On the other hand, the wars have had a great benefit in Europe and the future of The Crusades or also known as the holy wars were conflicts between the Western Christians and the Eastern Muslims. These Crusadeswere very impactful in a positive way during the events and the effects of the wars. The Crusades affected trading in Europe for the better, improved European lives and cities like Venice. The new products stimulated the growing commercial life of the West. Venice and Genoa, the ports from which much of the produce of the East was funneled into Europe, prospered exceedingly (Anderson). This proves that the Crusades in fact assisted in the wealth and prosperity in Europe when before Europe was struggling after the Middle East expansion into their land. After the wars, their legacy made the first steps to the financial tools used in modern times. Thus the Crusades contributed to the introduction of new products and helped create the conditions that led to modern methods of finance (Anderson). The Crusades ended up improving and creating new methods and tools which helped advance finance that is normally used currently. Another effect the Crusades had on the Europeans were the realization that Muslims were not what they thought they were. Moreover, the discovery that all Muslims were not savage beasts, that profit lay in trade relations with them, and that coexistence was possible, must have broadened the outlook of those who made the discovery (Anderson). Europeans discovered that it was possible they could live together in peace regardless of religious differences and by trading with one another both sides benefit from each other. After the events of the wars, it opened the outlook of the world to the Europeans and opened their minds to explore other places. Finally, the incentive given to geographical discovery led various travelers, such as the celebrated Italian, Marco Polo, and the scarcely less noted Englishman, Sir John Mandeville, to explore the most remote countries of Asia (Alchin). This led many explorers like Marco Polo to discover, meet and open relations between Europe and Asia to

Browne repositioned BP as a green oil company after he took over and practiced the model of organizational decision making strategy, known as asset federation. Such bias and rationalized behavior of drilling engineers just added another warning sign to the explosion of Deepwater Horizon. Secondly, BP s business relationships are complex, and the legitimate priorities often conflict (Crews). BP s failure to prevent the explosion was due in part to complex partnership. BP held the rights to drill using the rig and operation services leased from Transocean. As a result, of the 126 people aboard the Deepwater Horizon, 79 were from Transocean, seven were from BP, and the rest were from other firms (Ingersoll et. al, 1). People serving on Deepwater Horizon came from different organizations. A decision making process involved many authorities, which decreased the efficiency and effectiveness of decision making. Even though BP maintained main operational authority, only six percent of people aboard the Deepwater Horizon rig were from BP. As an important business partner of BP, Transocean provided the equipment and performed the majority of the work, and thereafter it had some authority over operations and maintenance. The complex business partnership caused serious

Also, in 1964, Bloom published the book, Stability and Change in Human Characteristics. This was based on many studies that lead to an interest of early childhood education, which included the beginning of Head Start. All Bloom s research predicted that many physical and mental characteristics of adults are somewhat present during the younger stages. Finally, Bloom made a final summary of his work in 1980 in the book, All Our Children Learning. This showed evidence that virtually all students can learn and function at a higher level if the appropriate measures are taken at home and in school (Contributors, 2013). The Taxonomy Bloom s taxonomy was created so that students would exhibit higher thinking during instruction, like evaluating concepts, processes, procedures, and principles, rather than remembering facts and just learning to a test. There are three domains within this learning theory and they are cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. Cognitive domain is a person s mental skills or knowledge. Affective domain is the growth in feeling and emotional areas or attitude. Psychomotor domain is manual and physical skills (Benjamin S. Bloom, 1956). Bloom s theory is a way to set the goals of the learning process. In a sense, this means that a student should acquire a new skill, piece of knowledge, and/or a new type of attitude (Paul, 1985). Originally, only the

The car I bought was a New 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan SE. I bought this car because not only because it was a nice price of $21,879, but because it s a big and safe minivan... My job is perfect for me and i make lots of money while doing what I love most (helping people I think this is obvious by now). I know as a student I would have to work as hard as I possibly can to become a psychiatrist, because I would need to go through many extra years of school. I also will need to focus more on science because it will be essential for me to become a psychiatrist. If I were to mess around during high school and not focus on my future then I would most likely never be able to be a psychiatrist. To reach my goal I need to be more confident and work my absolute hardest, because I m very ambitious about what I want and I will do anything to achieve my goal of being a psychiatrist (hopefully with a nice salary
  • 41. Teenage Dating in the 1950s Essay examples Teenage Dating in the 1950s Teenagers in the 1950 s are so iconic that, for some, they represent the last generation of innocence before it is lost in the sixties. When asked to imagine this lost group, images of bobbysoxers, letterman jackets, malt shops and sock hops come instantly to mind. Images like these are so classic, they, for a number of people, are as American as apple pie. They are produced and perpetuated by the media, through films like Grease and Pleasantville and television shows like Happy Days, The Donna Reed Show, and Leave It to Beaver. Because of these entertainment forums, these images will continue to be a pop cultural symbol of the 1950 s. After the second World War, teenagers became much more noticeable in... Refreshments were often served (though not always), and the entertainment was primarily piano playing in the parlor. But because the lower classes were not so well endowed so that they own pianos or even parlors, they started their own form of courtship which soon became known as dating. This practice was soon picked up by the upper classes, and from there it progressed into the middle class, with which it is still inherently associated today (Bailey 17). Calling and dating are so intrinsically different it is hard to imagine how the transition from one to another was even made. Firstly, calling was practiced with the intention of finding a suitable husband for a young lady; whereas, in dating, this was, and still is, not the primary goal. People date because it is enjoyable, pleasant, and valuable (Merrill 62), and they thought that they could gain rewarding experiences from it. In the fifties and surrounding decades, handbooks and other books exploring relationships described dating as a fun activity in which teens are allowed to meet and mingle with many members of the opposite sex. Besides, dating allowed young people to be with each other without their parents interfering. Secondly,

  • 44. Decision Making Model RUNNING HEAD: DECISION MAKING MODEL Decision Making Model MGT 350 University of Phoenix Abstract Decision making models can be very effective in problem solving. Scheduling is a big problem at Direct HomeHealth Care and a solution needed to be found. Scheduling software which can be very expensive was the only conclusion that could be reached. With much thought and analysis a resolution was reached with critical thought and a decision making model from the Small Business Development Center. Decision making models can be very helpful in analyzing a problem and setting up a step by step process to evaluate and come to a favorable conclusion. Recently there has been a problem at my agency with scheduling and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Training CDs were used by the schedulers to familiarize themselves with the new program. They were able to take these CDs home and were paid for a total of five hours of training. New computers were purchased for each office scheduler and also for the on call scheduler. A networking system was set up with a router and wireless networking software. Evaluation of the new program is the last step in the decision making model. The program had to be evaluated to determine its success in solving the problem. The program has proven to be very effective and has resulted in a higher efficiency rate and higher patient satisfaction. The program has also cut back considerably on the man power and time needed to accomplish weekly payroll and billing. The conclusion is that this software has been a very positive investment and there are no regrets as to purchasing and implementing the program. A decision making process based on critical thought and data leads to good decisions. Some decisions affect several people and some only a few. The scheduling decision at Direct HomeHealth Care involved several people and was not to be taken lightly. The decision making model from the Small Business Development Center is a very effective tool in decision making and breaks the process down into several steps which can be utilized by any business to assist with difficult choices. • 45. Family Is An Important Role Of My Family Family plays an important role in every society. It is the main structure that made up a good society. Samovar, Porter McDaniel (2015) write, families are instrumental in teaching young people about their identities, how they fit into their culture, and where to find security (p.73). Family is the first school in one s life. In the early stages of our life, we learn how to eat, speak, communicate, and behave from our family, consciously and unconsciously we imitate our parents. In my religion (Islam) there is a great deal of attention to the importance of marriageand making family. Prophet Mohammad said, The best of you is the best to his family and I am the best amongst you to my family . Moreover, Islam assign a role to each member of the family, as parents take care of their children and the children should respect and obey their motherand father. I totally agree with Samovar, Porter McDaniel (2015) when they mentioned that the three most influential social organizations are (1) family, (2) state, and (3) religion (p.70). For me, I believe that my family shapes most of my identity. In my country (Saudi Arabia), most families are large and extended. Personally, I have 3 brothers and 4 sisters. I grow up in an educated family. My mom was an elementary school teacher. I still remember my mom s classroom and I still remember how she prepared her lessons and the tools that she used in the class. During that time, I liked how the students love and respect her. I
  • 46. Analysis Of The Oath Of Horatii By Jacques-Louis David Inspirational works of art, such as the Oath of the Horatii, will forever be remembered throughout history. It was unique in that it inspired two revolutions: the emergence of the neoclassical style and the French Revolution. This progressive piece was painted in 1784 by the French artist Jacques Louis David, who looked to the classics as guidance for his work. The results embodied the ideals of the Age of Enlightenment, which was at its peak in the 1700s. Ironically, although it was originally commissioned by the Administrator of Royal Residences, the Oath became a piece of anti monarchy propaganda ( Jacques Louis David ). The Oath acts almost as a foreshadowing of David s future participation in the revolution, while also clearly expressing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term neoclassicism is derived from the Greek word nГ©os, meaning new or revived, and classicism, referring to the features of ancient Greece and Rome ( Neoclassicism ). Artwork of this nature typically draws its stylistic inspiration from Greek and Roman art, primarily its paintings, frescoes, and bas relief sculptures. Specific attributes of neoclassical artwork, including simplicity, shallow space, strong linear aspects, and a clear, precise form, can all be traced back to the classical arts ( Neoclassicism, an Introduction ). Through the usage of a shortened one point perspective, David directs the essential components of the Oath of the Horatii to the foreground. The lighting highlights and outlines the figures, giving it the effect of being pushed out of the painting. He uses three arches to frame the subject and establish the background, practically forcing the viewer to focus on the people. This technique is similarly used in Roman relief sculpture, where key features are emphasized by being given a more prominent

Patriots vs Loyalists Being subjected to public humilation in front of massive crowds with harsh punishments, the loyalists found themselves in a tough predicament between the radicals and their independence from Britian while the loyalists thought differently. Most of the loyalists found their properties vandalized, looted and burned by angry mobs of men. There was no doubt that the patriots of the thirteen colonies controlled the public discourse. There was bound to be a revolt against the British by the patriots because they didn t agree against the policies imposed by the British parliament. With no representation in Parliament, American colonists who felt the taxes to be a little excessive had no other option other than civil disobedience to rebel. It is safe to to say that the colonists had every right to rebel against the British. Unlike other acts and taxes imposed by the British parliament the Stamp Act effected everyone in the colonies even the colonists who remained loyal to King eventhough, all the colonies were all equally effected by this act imposed by the British. This meant that all legal documents including permits, contracts, newspapers and even playing cards had to carry a tax stamp, the revenue (collected by American customs agents) was supposedly to be used for defending, protecting and securing the colonies, but the patriots would have thought differently. They just wanted to be independent from Britian. There was little expectation from Britian and the members of parliament of how intense of a protest that the Stamp Act would generate in America. As mentioned before, the colonists didn t like to be taxed by Britian any more because they felt living separate from the mother country would only decrease the amount of taxation not

Hence, agencies or groups should consider location when memorializing an event or person and when constructing a monument because the place can be improper in regards to the history of the memorial; that is why, with the Holocaust museum, many were outraged because it was going to be in a location that did little to stop the Holocaust from occurring.
