Essay about Primary Education in Uganda
Primary Education in Uganda A Policy Analysis
Over the past five years, Uganda s education system has proved both effective and successful.
Although in the process of further development, it has nonetheless served as a model for many
developing African countries. The Ugandan government, with President Yoweri Museveni at its
forefront, has determined primary education to be one of the major channels toward poverty
eradication and as a vital resource for economic and social development. The Ugandan government
has made a national commitment to eradicate illiteracy and educate its citizens through the 1997
initiative, Universal Primary Education (UPE). All levels of government, the private sector, grass root
organizations, local and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a consequence, policy was adopted that would better Uganda s financial position, which led to an
emphasis of secondary and higher education in order to fill the demand for high level manpower.
(Bell, p. 4) The emphasis soon changed as it was realized by the Commission of Education in Uganda
in 1965 that the content and structure of primary school education should also be geared toward
meeting the economic needs of the country. P. Beghin wrote in Recent Trends in Primary Education
Policy in Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, primary education is no longer regarded as a mere preparation to
secondary and higher education. Primary school is, in the view of the Syllabus, a terminal education
for a part of the pupils, which at present is actually the majority of them. (1968, pg. 6) From this time,
documented Ugandan education policy on issues such as instructional language, examinations, and
scientific literacy was expanded and reformed to include primary education.
During the political turmoil of the 1970s and 1980s when leadership changed hands, the education
system suffered, yet functionally operated by relying on local and regional based administrators and
nation wide standardization. (Upenn Sas) As the political situation settled in Uganda, education
became the new hot topic and was regarded as an issue of international development. President Yoweri
Museveni and the National Resistance Movement Government, initiated a review of education policy

Parent Child s At Risk For Relationship Difficulties
The Present Study The present study will examine various aspects of parent child dyads at risk for
relationship difficulties. There are three main objectives to this study. The first objective it to relate
different indices of parent child relationships such as: attachment security, parental sensitivity and
emotional availability, to assess their relationship quality. It is hypothesized that there will be a
relationship between all indices. The second object will attempt to add to the incremental validity of
the emotional availability (EA) scales while relating it to early attachment representations obtained by
the Strange Situation. Attachment and emotional availability will be coded from digital recordings of
the Strange Situation interaction. It is hypothesized that caregivers who exhibit greater overall
emotional availability in their interactions will have children who are securely attached. All of the
previous studies have focused on disorganized/disoriented infant behaviours in terms of a categorical
variable. The last objective is to quantitatively examine disorganized/disoriented attachments
behaviours. It is hypothesized that lower EA will be related to higher incidences of
disorganized/disoriented attachment behaviours. As reported by Candelaria, Teti, and Black (2011),
childhood attachment and parental sensitivity is impacted by cumulative risk factors such as single
parent status, poverty, maternal education, and maternal mental health. In the present study,

The Importance Of Taste In Gulp By Mary Roach
Taste, like smell, is a doorman for the digestive tract, a chemical scan for the possible dangerous
(bitter, sour) elements and desireable (salty, sweet) nutrients. (46)
If you, like me, enjoy reading about what actually goes on inside of our bodies, science author Mary
Roach has a very meticulous and compelling way of describing the body s digestive system of both
humans and animals. In the hilariously disgusting book Gulp, Roach describes why we as humans
love enticing smells and sugary foods by comparing a variety of studies done in various laboratories
across the nation. The book is layered in a way that each section focuses on a different aspect of the
digestive system.
The first section of the book titled, Nose Job: Tasting has little to do with taste, Roach focuses on a
sensory analyst by the name of Sue Langstaff and the differences between taste, smell ... Show more

If someone says that a drink they just had tasted horribly reminiscent of garbage, it s a little off putting
to the next person who tastes it they go into that tasting with the garbage in mind which shapes their
brain to that exact flavor. Taste as in personal preference, discernment is subjective. It s ephemeral,
shaped by trends and fads (29). So, if you are going shape your beliefs of flavor to what someone else
has shaped theirs to, it s not really what YOU personally believe the flavor is.
Section two of the book titled I ll have the Putrescine: Your pet is not like you, focuses on why
animals are picky with their food. The AFB International offices are studying this problem to try and
figure this problem out first and forehand. There are many various types of animals that have different
taste receptors that can either make them hate a food or love it. Flies taste with their hands, crayfish
with their antennae and catfish with their entire body. Flies loves sugar whereas crayfish and catfish

Tet Offensive Vietnam Summary
Olson and Roberts introduces the chapter when the NVA launched major offensive against the US
Marine base at Khe Sanh, located just below the DMZ (165). The goal was not the Khe Sanh as the
target, but the US commanders decided to send 50,000 of his men as reinforcements in order to secure
and hold the base. Viet Cong chose the Khe Sanh in order to make the Americans forces weaker
farther into the South, which is a more significant offensive. The Viet Cong begun the Tet Offensive,
which is Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese Communists gets the a huge amount of general offensive

over 500,000 US troops were stationed in Vietnam, but almost 30,000 of the troops had been killed in
an unknown war that was hard to win and defeat. In March 1968, the American policy and public

Humans Are The World s Greatest Achievements
Bill Bryson states, It s an unnerving thought that we may be the living universe s supreme
achievement and its worst nightmare simultaneously. This could translate to the idea of how humans
are the world s greatest achievement or the world s worst creation. Such as, developing human rights,
achievements in medicine, the building of the Great Pyramid or the Olympics. All of these
achievements were all accomplished humans. Humans being able to achieve the unachievable show
how humans are the most complex creatures in the universe. Being able to do many tasks that other
creatures would not be able to do. While being complex creatures, also leads to humans being the
worst nightmare . Bryson describes humans as being the worst nightmare emphasizing how rotten
humans can be.
Creating the Greatest Achievements Humans are the most advanced creatures on Earth. Our minds and
bodies are more capable of any other creature in this universe. For example, the creation of the
internet has enhanced communication to a whole new level and has allowed us to make use of the
internet, every day of our lives. Also, how people like doctors, soldiers, policemen, even teachers
devote their lives every day to make people feel safe and create an impact on our future. Even
Leonardo de Vinci s Mona Lisa is considered to one of the world s greatest achievements as the
painting is adored by millions. More specific examples would be the man on the moon, the building of
the Great Pyramids, or even the development of vaccinations. The man on the moon is considered to
be a great scientific achievement to put a man in space. This scientific achievement shows how hard
humans were able to work at NASA especially, the engineers and the astronauts themselves to put a
human being on a different planet. Also, the development in scientific discoveries led to the creation
of vaccines. Vaccines are an essential part of health today in helping us protect from serious diseases
and commonly use today. Back then, the life expectancy was short, since humans were not able to
develop such medicine. Doctors and scientists were able to develop these vaccines only show how
they are able to save many lives and create a medicine common in health today.

The Extinction Of Sharks
Sharks are one of the oldest living species on planet earth. Their earliest discovered fossils have been
dated back to over 420 million years old. Being one of the oldest species alive today, they have
undergone significant changes over time. The purpose of my research on these magnificent creatures
was to discover exactly why they ve been able to survive for so long, in contrary to other species that
have become extinct. Existing research shows that sharks have been able to survive because of their
ability to adapt to different environments. In 2013, a paleontological dig site in southern France
yielded fossilized teeth of a tiny shark relative, indicating that the fish escaped catastrophic events by
swimming to deeper oceans. This is an example of such adaptations that sharks have ... Show more

Sharks have been able to survive mass extinctions since the prehistoric era because of specific
characteristics they possess which give them advantages over other ocean species.
One of the traits that give shark species the advantage is their teeth. Sharks teeth vary in size, shape
and design to suit their many different environments. For example, long, narrow, needle like teeth
belong to sharks that prey on fish.

The Causes Of Embarrassment And Brain Pruning In The Human...
For decades, the human brain has been one of the most complex organs found in our body. Scientists
all around the world are always trying to find new information as to how this special organ works and
all the affects it has on people. The brain has its own way of developing and changing as it grows, and
many scientists and researchers find that as the brain grows in our teen years, there are a lot of reasons
behind embarrassment and brain pruning. Embarrassment is a feeling of self consciousness, shame, or
awkwardness caused by hormones, while brain pruning is extra neurons and synaptic connections that
are eliminated in order to increase the efficiency of neuronal transmissions. Each text discusses a
different relationship between behavior and the brain, which are embarrassment and pruning. Two
major differences between embarrassment and brain pruning are what goes on in the brain that causes
these activations and the age at which they occur. One pivotal difference is what goes on in the brain
during embarrassment and brain pruning and how they each occur. To begin with, embarrassment
deals with hormones. These hormones that get released into the brain cause many imbalances and
trigger embarrassment. From passage 1, Embarrassed? Blame Your Brain by Jennifer Connor Smith
states, This imbalance means even small problems, like tripping in the hallway, can trigger a wave of
embarrassment . This shows that the disproportion of hormones in the brain cause

Abg Analysis Lab
Arterial blood gas analysis (ABG analysis) is a method used to measure the levels of oxygen and
carbon dioxide in the blood, these values are often reported as the partial pressure of oxygen and
carbon dioxide respectively (1). AGB analysis is also used to directly measure blood pH, with the
blood pH and partial pressure of carbon dioxide, one is able to calculate the concentration of
bicarbonate in the blood. ABG analysis can also be used to measure hemoglobin, lactate and
electrolyte levels contained, but is most commonly used to measure oxygen, carbon dioxide and pH
levels. As the name suggests, a sample of arterial blood is used to do the analysis. Arterial blood is
used because it allows the physician to measure the levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide that are

Due to the lack of insulin patients with type I diabetes are unable to use glucose as their primary
energy source, as a result their body switches to fat metabolism as its source of energy. As a result
acidic ketones are produced as metabolic byproduct, this can be directly detected as a decrease in pH
on ABG analysis. Patients with moderate to severe DKA have a blood pH ranging from 6.9 7.2,
lowered bicarbonate levels and a carbon dioxide partial pressure in the rage of 15 20mmHg. The the
cause of our patient her partial pressure of carbon dioxide was 15mmHg, bicarbonate was low and a
blood pH of 7.14, these values suggest that the patient has metabolic acidosis and that the diagnosis of
DKA is likely correct. While ABG analysis can be used to diagnose DKA several studies suggest that
the ABG test results rarely effect a physicians diagnosis, treatment and management of the condition
(3). In addition the same studies have shown that the pH venous of venous blood was precise enough
to serve as a substitute to arterial pH analysis and is less painful for the patient

Citizen Soldiers Chapter 14 Analysis
CH 14 On chapter 14 Ambrose talks about many things that had happened in his life. The first topic of
chapter 14 was his writing skills. He tries to answer the question that many people ask him how do
you write so good. He answers with it s just a lot of hard work. Then he is sometimes asked what is
his best book that he has written, and Ambrose responds with it is usually his last published book that
is the best. Then Ambrose talks about Moria and how she has helped him with his writing, also how he
sometimes gets things directly from her to help him with his writing. That is when he does the
transition to talking about some of the books that he has written. That leads to the travels that he had
and that lead to the publishing of the book Undaunted Courage. Ambrose then talk about the trips that
he had with his family following the Lewis and Clark trail. After that he talks about what happens in 3
of his books. The book Citizen Soldiers is about Soldiers in Europe during the second world war. The
book was a sequel to D Day. The book was a combination of accounts of soldiers that were in the
European theater of the Second World War. The technique that he was trying to use was that he would
write what the eyewitnesses said not what he thought was right to write. ... Show more content on

could not do any research because his reading capabilities were not as good but he did have his

This created a conflict for her in regards to maintaining a good relationship with coworkers and family
members, so she gave up the promotion and went back to her old position. This could be construed as
management attempting to influence employee¡¦s rights to organize and a potential ULP section 8a 3
violation. Employer tried to coerce the employees to keep them from attending union meetings with
negative comments that they should stay away from the union representative if they knew what was
good for them. This was demonstrated several times in the film especially when employees were
going to and from work and Ruben was at the gate passing out pamphlets. Another example depicted
employees that had obviously been thing about going to the meeting, but only spoke about it to their
closest friends and then in whispers while management was not around. This is another example of a
potential ULP section 8a 1 violation. Barrick 4 The company after realizing that there was union
organization in progress increased employee workload while reducing the workweek (called a stretch
out). This is an implied financial threat by management that they controlled the workers, their income
and their ability to have a job and their time off from the job. As long as employees showed sympathy

Essay on Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman is
wrought with symbolism from the opening scene. Many symbols illustrate the themes of success and
failure. They include the apartment buildings, the rubber hose, Willy s brother Ben, the tape recorder,
and the seeds for the garden. These symbols represent Willy s attempts to be successful and his
impending failure. When Willy and Linda purchased their home in Brooklyn, it seemed far removed
form the city. Willy was young and strong and he believed he had a future full of success. He and his
sons cut the tree limbs that threatened his home and put up a hammock that he would enjoy with his
children. The green fields ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His wife Linda, who finds the hose, knows what he was going to do with it, as does Biff. When
confronted by Biff, Willy not only denies that he was going to use the hose, but also denies ever
seeing it before. Instead of being remembered as a successful businessman who died, Willy is seen by
his family as a failure who cannot even commit suicide or tell the truth. Willy s brother Ben seems to
symbolize all of Willy s dreams that have not borne fruit. Ben provides an example of the type of
success that Willy desires. Ben went into the jungle with nothing and became extremely wealthy. Ben
achieved in a few years what Willy has dreamed about his entire life. Ben also provides additional
evidence on the foolish behavior and poor decisions made by Willy. Ben offers to take Willy with him
and make him rich an offer that Willy declines. Another important symbol is Howard s tape recorder.
It represents the many material objects wealthy businessmen could provide for their families and for
themselves. Willy wanted this lifestyle; he wanted something he could lay his hands on (Miller pg. ).
It would not be enough to just be successful; Willy wanted to be able to show people material
representations of his success. The tape recorder shows that Howard has reached this level of success.
Yet while the recorder symbolizes the wealth and power of Howard, it also represents Willy s
discouragement and

How Does Rick Riordan Use Figurative Language In The...
Rick Riordan is an amazing author that is well known for his amazing books and novels. Rick Riordan
wrote several novels, but his most famous series is the Percy Jackson. The Lightning Thief was the
beginning of the series. Percy had to accept how he is a half blood and has to return the stolen
lightning bolt from Hades before a war starts. The authors style is fiction and greek mythology.
Rick Riordan writing style is very vivid. He writes in such detail that no area is not defined. His books
contains figurative language. For example, Just as it hit me, as I stumbled backward and felt its razor
sharp claws ripping through my armor, there was a cascade of thwacking sounds, like forty pieces of
paper being ripped on after the other. ( Ch 8, pg. 130) To explain this quote uses simile. A simile is a

Another writing style he uses is imagery. An example of imagery in the Lightning Thief is, The
landscape was dotted with buildings that looked like ancient Greek architecture an open air pavilion,
an amphitheater, a circular arena except that they all looked brand new, their white marble columns
sparkling in the sun. In a nearby sandpit, a dozen high school aged kids and satyrs played volleyball.
Canoes glided across a small lake. Kids in bright orange T shirts like Grover s were chasing each other
around a cluster of cabins nestled in the woods (Chapter 5, pg. 67) To explain imagery is a visually
descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work. An example of imagery is, the slide
was smooth and slick and was painted a bright faded red. This quote visually explains how the slide
looks like. The use of this simile furthers the story because you can feel the story forming around you.
To conclude, the use of imagery makes the story more clear for the reader to understand the

Bringing Back the Big Guns A Star Wars: The Force Awakens Analysis
It s true the Force, the Jedi, all of it. It s all true (Harrison Ford, The Force Awakens). The new Star
Wars flick The Force Awakens burst onto the big screen with enormous critical and monetary success
this past winter, and it seems that the franchise has truly been revived from the overall upsets of the
prequels back to its epic roots in pop culture. But does the movie really hold up compared to the
original trilogy? Indeed, the film shines through its engaging plot, important themes and flawless
technique.
The Force Awakens is very similar in plot to A New Hope, but there are plenty of interesting twists.
The movie starts off on the desert planet of Jakku. Poe, a rebel fighter, is taken into custody by the big
bad of the film Kylo Ren. However, Finn, one of the First Order s stormtroopers, helps him to escape
Ren s ship and they crash land on Jakku. With Poe seemingly killed in the crash, Finn wanders into
town and meets our main heroine, Rey, who is a scavenger fending for herself on Jakku. Rey has
found a BB 8 droid belonging to Poe and the Rebel Alliance with a map piece leading to the missing
Jedi Luke Skywalker. Finn lies to Rey about being a rebel fighter to escape Jakku with her. On their
journey towards the Rebel Alliance, the two encounter friends and foes alike, and Rey ends up

The Design And Development Of The Architecture For The...
History of REST
Since 1994, the REST architectural style has been used to guide the design and development of the
architecture for the modern Web (Roy T. Fielding, 2000)
When HTTP , Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), was being developed by the Internet Engineering
Taskforce there was a need for a model to be created of how the WWW should actually work.
This idealized model of the interactions within a web application, is what was then later referred to as
the Representational State Transfer (REST) architectural style and it became the foundation for the
modern Web architecture, providing the guiding principles by which flaws in the preexisting
architecture could be identified and extensions validated prior to deployment. (Roy T. Fielding., et al.,
2005)
World Wide Web
Initially the web was meant for researchers but around 1993 it became evident that more entities were
likely to use it as usage was starting to spread to campus dorms, clubs houses personal home pages
and later to the institutions and commercial companies.
When individuals started publishing their personal information, on different topics they felt fanatic
about this social network effect started a rapid growth of sites that still goes on to this day.
Commercial interest also was beginning, but it was evident by then that the ability to publish on an
international wide scale would be inevitable to business and related entities.
Despite this initial success that was being witnessed, a concern came to the

CJD: OUTLINE/ROUGH DRAFT/INFORMATION
The purpose of this term paper is to review the literature regarding Creutzfeld Jacob Disease. The goal
is to examine the information as it relates to homeostasis in human body systems.
NAME: CREUTZFELDT JAKOB DISEASE (KROYTZ felt YAH kub) (CJD), originally discovered
in 1920 by Hans Gerhard Creutzfeld and Alfons Maria Jacob, is also known by several other names:
transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE); acquired (vCJD or iCJD) ; sporadic (sCJD); familial

Dhoni was a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur railway station from 2001 to 2003, under
South Eastern Railway in Midnapore (W), a district in West Bengal. His colleagues remember him as
a very honest, straightforward employee of the Indian Railways. But he also had a mischievous side to
his personality. Once, while staying at the railway quarters, Dhoni and a couple of his friends covered
themselves in white bedsheets and walked around in the complex late in the night. The night guards
were fooled into believing that there were ghosts moving around in the complex. The story made big

The Pros And Cons Of Remote Shopping
In 1966, this is what the Time magazine published. Remote shopping, while entirely feasible, will flop
because women like to get out of the house, like to handle merchandise, like to be able to change their
minds . If Time magazine were to publish the same thing today, one would think that it s not remote
shopping that will flop, but the magazine itself. Such has been the intertwining of business and
technology that one cannot survive without the other. It s no wonder that tech savvy companies like
Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc. are among the top ten richest companies in the world. From miniscule
things like car parking to major things like payroll processing, the role of technology is inevitable. The
future would witness a business battle between the human mind and the robotic kind. The time when
the robot species set up their own enterprises, run them using the best available technology and make

Florentine Codex Translation
Florentine Codex Translation The Florentine Codex has four version available to read. The original
Nahuatl version, Spanish, English from spanish translation, and the new English from Nahuatl
translation. Among these four versions, they both discuss the same story line without much variation.
But it s the small differences in the Old vs New English that create interesting difference that change
certain details and emotions. The new direct Nahuatl translation is of course the more true and
preferred version for accurate information. But between these two versions you can see the errors that

Herpes Simplex 1 Symptoms Natural Treatment
There is a old misconception Herpes Simplex 1 only infects above the belt by manifesting as cold
sores. Herpes Type 2 was previously considered below the belt and caused genital lesions. However,
the medical profession has found oral genital contact can spread either, so that types of herpes have
become virtually insignificant.
Let s define herpes. It is very contagious. It is transmitted by bodily fluids. Proper hand washing
precautions should be taken to keep the virus from a cold sore from spreading to the genitals. The first
time herpes symptoms appear is called the primary occurrence and it worse than recurring outbreaks.
Symptoms generally occur within 4 7 days after contact. Initial symptoms are burning, chronic itch or
tingling. In a couple of days, pimply sores pop up on reddish skin. Later, the pimples metamorphose
into agonizing blisters.
When the blisters burst, they secrete blood and yellowish pus. Approximately a week after the first
symptoms, scabs form, which signals healing has begun.
While it is rare, it is possible for Herpes to spread to the eyes. This requires the speedy attention of a
medical professional.
A person can be infected and not know it. Symptoms may not show for some time following contact,
yet the person can still be contagious. This is because viral shedding occurs during the tingling stage.
Of course, people who have active lesions shed the virus and are contagious.

The Effective Use of Dramatic Devices in Miller s The...
The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a famous play which was written in the early 1950 s. The Crucible is
a play based upon the events in 1692, which led to the Salem Witch Trials , a series of hearings before
local magistrates to prosecute over 150 people accused of witchcraft. This was due to the hysteria
caused by a group of girls accusing innocent people of witch craft. The play was set in Salem,
Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. Salem was a very isolated and puritanical
community, so their biggest fear was the devil and witchcraft. A person being accused of witchcraft
was the worst thing possible in this society. The definition of crucible is a container that is used to heat
metal in order to separate the pure from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the play writers that was blamed was Arthur Miller himself, and he had to suffer the
consequence of prison for one year as there were no free trials. After Miller s time in prison, he wrote
the Crucible, an allegorical play in which Miller linked the situation of America going hunting
Communists to the Witch Hunts in Salem. Throughout the play Miller creates tension between the
characters, however this tension is mainly shown in Act Two. Although the main theme of the
Crucible is witch craft, this act concentrates mainly on the relationship of John and Elizabeth Proctor.
Miller uses a variety of dramatic devices such as, stage directions, long pauses and silences, entrances
of other characters (interruptions), use of contrast, length of sentences and punctuation to express
mood and feeling, use of figurative language and repetition and how other characters react to a
particular problem. Prior to this act the girls have named the witches and have accused innocent
people, for example I saw Goody Hawkins with the devil... This scene ends with everybody screaming
and being hysterical and as soon as act two starts, there is silence. This shows a powerful use of
contrast between the acts through the stage directions. This also affects the audience because as the
curtain is falling they are left at the edge of their seats and as soon as it drops they are left hanging as
they want to know what has happened to the girls. Arthur Miller uses this device

Steele Creek Analysis Essay
Steele Creek Analysis : Andrew Lai 10F
During the many sessions we had to investigate and research the health and condition of Steele Creek;
at the same time we also hypothesized that If the results indicate that Steele Creek is in the optimum
range for damselfly nymphs then damselfly nymphs will be abundant. The many experiments we
conducted on the creek provided us with crucial findings that showed Steele Creek was in the lower
range of good health . The several experiments we conducted consisted of a: Habitat Survey, Soil
Analysis, Water Analysis and Macro Invertebrate Identification. These tests were restricted to the
section we chose of Steele Creek (excluding the Macro Invertebrate test) . This allowed us to compare
an array of aspects of Steele Creek s water such as pH level and turbidity , giving us an insight into the
kind of species that the Steele Creek habitat could sustain and the very nature of it. The fact that the
the investigations were conducted at different times, dates and conditions, suggests a possible
variation in our results.
Habitat Survey
The habitat survey; a visual assessment of the creek was conducted on the 3rd of May at 11:40 AM
producing an overall habitat rating score of 29/40. However, the test was subjective and so results ...

controls such as time of the day and condition over a period of time to get the most accurate answers
possible. Eg. Dissolved oxygen rates can vary over the period of the day. Another improvement would
be following the methodology more strictly to reduce any margin for error, clearly apparent in our

an oil spill in the creek that would have impacted on the macro invertebrates results we tested after

How Social Exclusion Affects The Feeling Of Physical Coldness
Psychologists Chen Bo Zhong and Geoffrey Leonardelli from the University of Toronto wanted to
analyze the idea that social exclusion generates a physical response of coldness. In 2008, they did just
that by carrying out an experimental study to address two questions in two different experiments;
whether recall of a specific (social exclusion) event influences the feeling of physical coldness. The
second experiment is based on the hypothesis of the first, given that coldness leads to the liking for
warm or cold food. The present paper examines whether or not notions such as cold and lonely are
expressions that can be applied to reality and not just an abstract illustration. Empirical evidence is
adequately provided supporting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose was to revive their feelings of isolation and loneliness. Comparatively, the other group
recalled an experience in which they had been socially acknowledged and included into a group.
Researchers hypothesized that priming social exclusion, as opposed to inclusion, would lead
participants to report lower room temperature in experiment 1 and thus prefer hot food and drink in
Experiment 2. The results of the experiments were in line with the experimental predictions that social
exclusion leads to physical coldness and that the lack of social acceptance leads people to seek hot
food and drinks. The following paragraphs will analyze Zhong s research, evaluating strengths,
limitations, and possible improvements for Experiment 1 and 2.
Going through the methodology, the participants were students at the University of Toronto and were
asked to recall a social exclusion event. It is a between participants design, making it interesting to
analyze individual differences in recall and how cold they felt afterwards. However, this doesn t
equate for external validity, as it is very unclear by what event the participants referred to as social
exclusion. The researchers refer to previous studies carried out by Bargh, Chen, Burrows (1996) in the
introduction about the physical signs of social influence. This experiment however, is carried out in

St Wren Cathedral Essay
This research is going to address The Cathedral of Saint Paul building which has been in existence, in
various buildings since 1841. St. Paul s Cathedral, which was designed by the architect Sir
Christopher Wren, is one of the commonest iconic Anglican Cathedral buildings. It is the tallest
structure in London since its completion in 1710 till 1967 and it is the seat of the Bishop of London
and is devoted to Paul, the Apostle. It dates back to the original church on the site. Wren was inspired
by contemporary Renaissance trends in Italian architecture, and designed the cathedral in a restrained
Baroque style, attempting to combine the traditions of English medieval cathedrals with the classical
style of Inigo Jones and French buildings by Mansart. St. Paul s is unusual among cathedrals in that it
has a crypt which extends under the entire building rather than just under the eastern end. The most
important feature is the dome which is also among the highest in the world. To ensure the dome
appeared visually satisfying when viewed both externally and internally, Wren designed a double
shelled dome, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Moral Behavior In Cahn s Happiness And Goodness
In the novel Happiness and Goodness the authors Cahn and Vitrano argue that moral behaviour is not
necessary in order to obtain happiness in life. I agree with this argument and will defend it by referring
to an example presented in the early introduction of the book. On page 25, and 26 Vitrano and Cahn
present a theoretical example of a man who engages in immoral behaviour in order to reduce the
likelihood of him suffering from devastating consequences in the future. Fred is a married man who
has devoted his life to gaining fame, wealth, and reputation, so when the physician attempts to end his
affair with a flight attendant he met, she threatens to expose him to the world and risk him losing his

Kate and Joan s academic careers expansion. If one says yes regardless of the repercussions they will

the job could be hers, as long as she agreed to pass all of the varsity athletes in a future class of hers
with passing grades, unless their work was utterly disappointing. Joan rejected this position having
cared more about academic integrity, than money, or prestige. On the other hand, Kate was then
offered the same position as Joan and instead decided to accept the offer given by the dean. Kate was
later awarded with a very successful career, became a popular teacher and a renowned researcher,
while Joan was forced to purse a path that didn t satisfy her because she was never again offered a
faculty position, she continued living her live unhappily. In the end, Kate would occasionally look

Muhammad Ali Fighting Style Analysis
Introduction:
Muhammad Ali is known as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in the world. He was a
Charismatic Entertainer, Civil Rights Activist and an Avid Trash Talker. He was known as the man
who could float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. Ali had a very unique fighting style which many
believe gave him an advantage over his opponents. He combined speed with punching power.
However, Ali s deadliest weapon was not his fists but it was his ability to break down his opponent s
Psyche and exhaust them before throwing a fatal punch. This fighting style/tactic can be seen in the
famous fight between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali known as The Rumble in the Jungle .
During this particular fight in 1974, Ali Taunted Foreman using phrases such as: Hit harder! Show me
something, George That don t hurt. I thought you were supposed to be bad . Foreman was enraged, his
confidence was weakened and so Foreman punched away furiously, wasting his energy. After Eight
rounds, Ali threw his last punch and just like that. The fight was over. Foreman was defeated.
Muhammad Ali used Trash Talk to intimidate and discourage his opponents and it worked!
Rebuilding the Walls:
This is not a new tactic. In fact, there are several examples of Trash Talk in the Bible. When Nehemiah
heard about the condition of his people in Jerusalem and that the temple and walls lay in ruins, he was
grieved. Nehemiah decided to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah 4:1 tells us that, when

guilty. The case eventually made its was up to the Supreme Court where more evidence was
discovered. Which was that the men were riding a train car to Alabama in 1931, while the women
were on a completely separate car (Anderson). The men were claimed to be guilty again. One of the
women on the train stepped forward, and stated that her and her friend were prostitutes illegally
coming into Alabama. They said that they were raped because they wanted

Cathedral, a Story Review Essay
Have you ever closed your eyes and envisioned a world of nothing? Have you ever stopped and
pondered what it would be like to have never seen the sunrise, fireworks or even your own face? For
many, the answer is yes, but for even more the answer is no. People seldom take the time to
understand and appreciate the uniqueness that each of us possesses. For this reason, people are often
uneducated about those individuals who live with various disabilities on a daily basis. Society has
become so accustomed to turning a cold shoulder to those members who are less fortunate by no fault
of their own and now this cruel behavior of discrimination is somewhat the norm in the world today.
In the short story, Cathedral, by Raymond Carver, a man named ... Show more content on

because he is a stranger but more so that he is blind.
Bub s wife had read for Robert ten years prior to the visit and the two had kept in touch by sending

felt that working for Robert was something extraordinarily meaningful that had happened in her life.
Although Robert has just lost his wife, this is no excuse for Bub to show any courtesy to the man; after
all he is a stranger. He even jokes with his wife about taking the man bowling. Bub finds it hard to
believe that a woman, Beulah, Robert s wife, would want to marry a blind man. Bub is convinced that
Beulah must have had a calamitous life with the blind man. Bub is so exhausted with the fact that
Robert never knew what his wife s face looked like and cannot understand why the blind man rubbed
her face.
When Robert arrives at the home, Bub is nervous about the conversation topics he wants to bring up.
He is unsure what to talk about with the blind man because he perceives him as unequal from
everyone else. Bub does not understand that he can talk to Robert just as he would his wife. Bub

  • 2. Essay about Primary Education in Uganda Primary Education in Uganda A Policy Analysis Over the past five years, Uganda s education system has proved both effective and successful. Although in the process of further development, it has nonetheless served as a model for many developing African countries. The Ugandan government, with President Yoweri Museveni at its forefront, has determined primary education to be one of the major channels toward poverty eradication and as a vital resource for economic and social development. The Ugandan government has made a national commitment to eradicate illiteracy and educate its citizens through the 1997 initiative, Universal Primary Education (UPE). All levels of government, the private sector, grass root organizations, local and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a consequence, policy was adopted that would better Uganda s financial position, which led to an emphasis of secondary and higher education in order to fill the demand for high level manpower. (Bell, p. 4) The emphasis soon changed as it was realized by the Commission of Education in Uganda in 1965 that the content and structure of primary school education should also be geared toward meeting the economic needs of the country. P. Beghin wrote in Recent Trends in Primary Education Policy in Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, primary education is no longer regarded as a mere preparation to secondary and higher education. Primary school is, in the view of the Syllabus, a terminal education for a part of the pupils, which at present is actually the majority of them. (1968, pg. 6) From this time, documented Ugandan education policy on issues such as instructional language, examinations, and scientific literacy was expanded and reformed to include primary education. During the political turmoil of the 1970s and 1980s when leadership changed hands, the education system suffered, yet functionally operated by relying on local and regional based administrators and nation wide standardization. (Upenn Sas) As the political situation settled in Uganda, education became the new hot topic and was regarded as an issue of international development. President Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement Government, initiated a review of education policy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Parent Child s At Risk For Relationship Difficulties The Present Study The present study will examine various aspects of parent child dyads at risk for relationship difficulties. There are three main objectives to this study. The first objective it to relate different indices of parent child relationships such as: attachment security, parental sensitivity and emotional availability, to assess their relationship quality. It is hypothesized that there will be a relationship between all indices. The second object will attempt to add to the incremental validity of the emotional availability (EA) scales while relating it to early attachment representations obtained by the Strange Situation. Attachment and emotional availability will be coded from digital recordings of the Strange Situation interaction. It is hypothesized that caregivers who exhibit greater overall emotional availability in their interactions will have children who are securely attached. All of the previous studies have focused on disorganized/disoriented infant behaviours in terms of a categorical variable. The last objective is to quantitatively examine disorganized/disoriented attachments behaviours. It is hypothesized that lower EA will be related to higher incidences of disorganized/disoriented attachment behaviours. As reported by Candelaria, Teti, and Black (2011), childhood attachment and parental sensitivity is impacted by cumulative risk factors such as single parent status, poverty, maternal education, and maternal mental health. The Importance Of Taste In Gulp By Mary Roach Taste, like smell, is a doorman for the digestive tract, a chemical scan for the possible dangerous (bitter, sour) elements and desireable (salty, sweet) nutrients. (46) If you, like me, enjoy reading about what actually goes on inside of our bodies, science author Mary Roach has a very meticulous and compelling way of describing the body s digestive system of both humans and animals. In the hilariously disgusting book Gulp, Roach describes why we as humans love enticing smells and sugary foods by comparing a variety of studies done in various laboratories across the nation. The book is layered in a way that each section focuses on a different aspect of the digestive system. The first section of the book titled, Nose Job: Tasting has little to do with taste, Roach focuses on a sensory analyst by the name of Sue Langstaff and the differences between taste, smell ... Section two of the book titled I ll have the Putrescine: Your pet is not like you, focuses on why animals are picky with their food. • 6. Humans Are The World s Greatest Achievements Bill Bryson states, It s an unnerving thought that we may be the living universe s supreme achievement and its worst nightmare simultaneously. This could translate to the idea of how humans are the world s greatest achievement or the world s worst creation. Such as, developing human rights, achievements in medicine, the building of the Great Pyramid or the Olympics. All of these achievements were all accomplished humans. Humans being able to achieve the unachievable show how humans are the most complex creatures in the universe. Being able to do many tasks that other creatures would not be able to do. While being complex creatures, also leads to humans being the worst nightmare . Bryson describes humans as being the worst nightmare emphasizing how rotten humans can be. Creating the Greatest Achievements Humans are the most advanced creatures on Earth. Our minds and bodies are more capable of any other creature in this universe. For example, the creation of the internet has enhanced communication to a whole new level and has allowed us to make use of the internet, every day of our lives. Also, how people like doctors, soldiers, policemen, even teachers devote their lives every day to make people feel safe and create an impact on our future. Even Leonardo de Vinci s Mona Lisa is considered to one of the world s greatest achievements as the painting is adored by millions. More specific examples would be the man on the moon, the building of the Great Pyramids, or even the development of vaccinations. The man on the moon is considered to be a great scientific achievement to put a man in space. This scientific achievement shows how hard humans were able to work at NASA especially, the engineers and the astronauts themselves to put a human being on a different planet. Also, the development in scientific discoveries led to the creation of vaccines. Vaccines are an essential part of health today in helping us protect from serious diseases and commonly use today. Back then, the life expectancy was short, since humans were not able to develop such medicine. Doctors and scientists were able to develop these vaccines only show how they are able to save many lives and create a medicine common in health today. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being one of the oldest species alive today, they have undergone significant changes over time. The purpose of my research on these magnificent creatures was to discover exactly why they ve been able to survive for so long, in contrary to other species that have become extinct. Existing research shows that sharks have been able to survive because of their ability to adapt to different environments. • 8. The Causes Of Embarrassment And Brain Pruning In The Human... For decades, the human brain has been one of the most complex organs found in our body. Scientists all around the world are always trying to find new information as to how this special organ works and all the affects it has on people. The brain has its own way of developing and changing as it grows, and many scientists and researchers find that as the brain grows in our teen years, there are a lot of reasons behind embarrassment and brain pruning. Embarrassment is a feeling of self consciousness, shame, or awkwardness caused by hormones, while brain pruning is extra neurons and synaptic connections that are eliminated in order to increase the efficiency of neuronal transmissions. Each text discusses a different relationship between behavior and the brain, which are embarrassment and pruning. Two major differences between embarrassment and brain pruning are what goes on in the brain that causes these activations and the age at which they occur. One pivotal difference is what goes on in the brain during embarrassment and brain pruning and how they each occur. To begin with, embarrassment deals with hormones. These hormones that get released into the brain cause many imbalances and trigger embarrassment. From passage 1, Embarrassed? Blame Your Brain by Jennifer Connor Smith states, This imbalance means even small problems, like tripping in the hallway, can trigger a wave of embarrassment . This shows that the disproportion of hormones in the brain cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman is wrought with symbolism from the opening scene. Many symbols illustrate the themes of success and failure. They include the apartment buildings, the rubber hose, Willy s brother Ben, the tape recorder, and the seeds for the garden. These symbols represent Willy s attempts to be successful and his impending failure. When Willy and Linda purchased their home in Brooklyn, it seemed far removed form the city. Willy s brother Ben seems to symbolize all of Willy s dreams that have not borne fruit. Ben provides an example of the type of success that Willy desires. Ben went into the jungle with nothing and became extremely wealthy. Ben achieved in a few years what Willy has dreamed about his entire life. Ben also provides additional evidence on the foolish behavior and poor decisions made by Willy. Ben offers to take Willy with him and make him rich an offer that Willy declines. Another important symbol is Howard s tape recorder. It represents the many material objects wealthy businessmen could provide for their families and for themselves. Willy wanted this lifestyle; he wanted something he could lay his hands on (Miller pg. ). It would not be enough to just be successful; Willy wanted to be able to show people material representations of his success. The tape recorder shows that Howard has reached this level of success. Yet while the recorder symbolizes the wealth and power of Howard, it also represents Willy s discouragement and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History of REST Since 1994, the REST architectural style has been used to guide the design and development of the architecture for the modern Web (Roy T. Fielding, 2000) When HTTP , Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), was being developed by the Internet Engineering Taskforce there was a need for a model to be created of how the WWW should actually work. This idealized model of the interactions within a web application, is what was then later referred to as the Representational State Transfer (REST) architectural style and it became the foundation for the modern Web architecture, providing the guiding principles by which flaws in the preexisting architecture could be identified and extensions validated prior to deployment. (Roy T. Fielding., et al., 2005) World Wide Web Initially the web was meant for researchers but around 1993 it became evident that more entities were likely to use it as usage was starting to spread to campus dorms, clubs houses personal home pages and later to the institutions and commercial companies. When individuals started publishing their personal information, on different topics they felt fanatic about this social network effect started a rapid growth of sites that still goes on to this day. • 22. Herpes Simplex 1 Symptoms Natural Treatment There is a old misconception Herpes Simplex 1 only infects above the belt by manifesting as cold sores. Herpes Type 2 was previously considered below the belt and caused genital lesions. However, the medical profession has found oral genital contact can spread either, so that types of herpes have become virtually insignificant. Let s define herpes. It is very contagious. It is transmitted by bodily fluids. Proper hand washing precautions should be taken to keep the virus from a cold sore from spreading to the genitals. The first time herpes symptoms appear is called the primary occurrence and it worse than recurring outbreaks. Symptoms generally occur within 4 7 days after contact. Initial symptoms are burning, chronic itch or tingling. In a couple of days, pimply sores pop up on reddish skin. Later, the pimples metamorphose into agonizing blisters. When the blisters burst, they secrete blood and yellowish pus. Approximately a week after the first symptoms, scabs form, which signals healing has begun. While it is rare, it is possible for Herpes to spread to the eyes. This requires the speedy attention of a medical professional. A person can be infected and not know it. Symptoms may not show for some time following contact, yet the person can still be contagious. This is because viral shedding occurs during the tingling stage. Of course, people who have active lesions shed the virus and are contagious. What are Natural Treatments for Herpes Simplex 1? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Crucible is a play based upon the events in 1692, which led to the Salem Witch Trials , a series of hearings before local magistrates to prosecute over 150 people accused of witchcraft. This was due to the hysteria caused by a group of girls accusing innocent people of witch craft. The play was set in Salem, Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. One of the play writers that was blamed was Arthur Miller himself, and he had to suffer the consequence of prison for one year as there were no free trials. After Miller s time in prison, he wrote the Crucible, an allegorical play in which Miller linked the situation of America going hunting Communists to the Witch Hunts in Salem. Throughout the play Miller creates tension between the characters, however this tension is mainly shown in Act Two. Although the main theme of the Crucible is witch craft, this act concentrates mainly on the relationship of John and Elizabeth Proctor. Miller uses a variety of dramatic devices such as, stage directions, long pauses and silences, entrances of other characters (interruptions), use of contrast, length of sentences and punctuation to express mood and feeling, use of figurative language and repetition and how other characters react to a particular problem. Prior to this act the girls have named the witches and have accused innocent people, for example I saw Goody Hawkins with the devil... This scene ends with everybody screaming and being hysterical and as soon as act two starts, there is silence. This shows a powerful use of contrast between the acts through the stage directions. The many experiments we conducted on the creek provided us with crucial findings that showed Steele Creek was in the lower range of good health . The several experiments we conducted consisted of a: Habitat Survey, Soil Analysis, Water Analysis and Macro Invertebrate Identification. This allowed us to compare an array of aspects of Steele Creek s water such as pH level and turbidity , giving us an insight into the kind of species that the Steele Creek habitat could sustain and the very nature of it. Ali had a very unique fighting style which many believe gave him an advantage over his opponents. He combined speed with punching power.
