This document discusses computer-mediated communication (CMC). It defines CMC as human communication that occurs through two or more electronic devices. There are two types of CMC: asynchronous (one-way) such as email and voice mail, and synchronous (two-way) such as chat and video calls. Asynchronous CMC allows communication anytime and anyplace but can cause delays, while synchronous CMC enables immediate response but faces challenges like language barriers. The document examines features, problems, and solutions for both asynchronous and synchronous CMC, and considers factors for determining which type of CMC is best for a given communication situation.
This session will provide one of the soft skills required by site engineering. It will also give the learners an understanding of communication barriers and, it's improving methods, learning two main types of communication (oral and written communication)
This presentation introduce how to create a small group of students engaged in a Whatsapp group and how to integrate vocabulary learning with it.
Feel free to use it and let me know by email: mustbek@yahoo.com

The social and cultural transformation and even social interaction that has been influenced by computer and internet is evident in the recent decade. The role played by the new media has increased and is always on the rise, transforming every single life that it touches effecting the individual, but sometimes it has positive and negative effects.
Computer Mediated Communication can simply be put as a transaction between two or more network computer like chartroom, emails, SNS (Social Networking Sites), text messages etc. This growing topic has been talked and argued by theorists and scholars Joseph Walther, Ramirez and Zhang, Denis McQuail, etc., and has been debated and many other scholars continue to debate and argue on CMC, its scope and reach on vast field in New Media. The following summary throws light on CMC
Computer-mediated communication (CMC) refers to human communication via computers and includes many different forms of synchronous, asynchronous or real-time interaction that humans have with each other using computers as tools to exchange text, images, audio and video.
Using new technologies, with a particular focus on teaching languages. A description of the usage of these technologies, their advantages and disadvantages. Methodology to foster good communication and improve your teaching practice.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.

JMeter webinar - integration with InfluxDB and GrafanaRTTS
Watch this recorded webinar about real-time monitoring of application performance. See how to integrate Apache JMeter, the open-source leader in performance testing, with InfluxDB, the open-source time-series database, and Grafana, the open-source analytics and visualization application.
In this webinar, we will review the benefits of leveraging InfluxDB and Grafana when executing load tests and demonstrate how these tools are used to visualize performance metrics.
Length: 30 minutes
Session Overview
-------------------------------------------
During this webinar, we will cover the following topics while demonstrating the integrations of JMeter, InfluxDB and Grafana:
- What out-of-the-box solutions are available for real-time monitoring JMeter tests?

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Computer Mediated Communication
2. Computer Mediated Communication
• Computer-mediated communication (CMC) is defined as
any human communication that occurs through the use of
two or more electronic devices.
3. Computer Mediated Communication
• That communication takes
place through different
ways in the following
elements:
• Timing
• Number of participants
• Medium
7. Feature of Asynchronous:
• Available anytime
• Available anyplace
• Variety of media
• Multiple perspective
• One to one or one to
many communication
8. Problems with asynchronous CMC?
• Posts to the discussion boards need to be frequent for
people to maintain an interest in the boards, and so if the
level participation drops below a certain degree, no further
postings take place.
• The asynchronous nature encourages people to give
participation a lower priority.
• Delay in communication occur in asynchronous CMC.
9. How can we solve these problems?
• Make the discussion time -dependent, so that participants
cannot late in participation .
• Cut and paste discussion threads that diverge or are
repeating discussions elsewhere, so that each thread
corresponds to one topic.
10. How can we solve these problems?
• Identify specific points within the threads to
prompt particular discussions, eliciting answers to
specific questions.
12. Feature of synchronous CMC:
• Immediate response
• Collaboration
• 1 to 1 communication
• Allow body language
13. Problems with synchronous CMC?
• Language difference between two
communicator create difficulties in
communication.
• Students on a slow connection always lag
slightly behind in the discussion.
14. Problems with synchronous CMC?
• The discussion tends to lose focus because of many
side discussions.
• Some students cannot jump in because they are slow
typists.
• Responses get out of sequence.
15. How can solve these problems :
• The solution to this is to have a prepared set of
questions, subjects to discuss, etc.
• Introduce some of the abbreviation and
emoticons used in chat to their less experienced
peers.
• In face-to-face one’s authority can be underlined
by raising one’s voice, in chat you can use
upper case to make your point more forcefully.
16. Which CMC should we use?
• “should the communication be synchronous or
asynchronous?”
• Are the participants part-time students/spread across time
zones?
• Is the subject matter one which requires in-depth analysis
and response? If so, then an asynchronous medium is most
appropriate.
17.
18. Collaborative Work
Management Tools
Computer Mediated Communication tools?
Calendaring and
Scheduling
Task and Project Management
Workflow Systems
Document Sharing
Knowledge Management
19. Why use CMC tools?
• As the world flattens with increased
globalization, being able to
effectively communicate and
collaborate over distance has
become a critical skill.
