Mothebe Mpho presented on the common means of communication through the internet. They discussed social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, video conferencing, chat rooms, blogs, dating sites, forums, audio conferencing, instant messaging, and email. For each communication method, Mpho explained what it is, how it works, and some examples. They concluded that while each method has advantages and disadvantages, instant messaging is generally the most convenient for quick and real-time communication online.

Is the exchange of data , information, and message between individuals , devices, or system
over the internet.
It encompasses various forms of online communication , including email , instant messaging ,
video conferencing and many more.

•In social networking, people join social media sites for example Facebook ,twitter ,LinkedIn etc.
•They create profiles .
•Befriend ,follow or join other users on such websites.
•Communication can then be instant private messages or public discussion forums.
7. Chat rooms
A chat room is an area on the internet where groups of people come together to communicate
.
• A user types a massage that is seen by all other users currently online in the same room.
•Users can see a list of all other users online.
•If a user right-clicks another user name , they are able to view his profile and send a private
message.

A blog is an online journal, or diary of an individual.
•It is usually written by a person
•Uses of a blog
• it can be used to tell about an individual’s life.
•To promote products.
•To Provide information.
•It make political statements
• Give tutorials

Dating sites are websites typically dedicated to matching singles people with other single ones.
•A member creates a profile that can be viewed by other members, who have the ability to
contact other members the person through the website in hopes of making a romantic
connection.
10. Audio conferencing
Audio conferencing is a connection between two computers that requires participants to have
mimicrophones and speakers.
•Uses an instant messaging program, such as America online messenger ( aol) or an audio
conferencing software such as :skype.
•User speaks into the microphone and the dialogue is heard through the speakers of tother users.
11. Instant messaging
An instant message ( im ) is the process of sending real-time messages from one user to
another.
•One user types a messages that is conveyed over a network and received by the other user.
•Instant messaging can be between two or more people using a specific program such as :yahoo
messenger or windows live messenger.
12. E-mail
•A shortened form of “electronic mail” an mail works much like traditional mail in that messages are
still sent by one person, received and sometimes saved by another,the process is instantaneous.
•Users are given a unique email address from which messages are passed back and forth.
•Additionally one message can be sent to several recipients simultaneously.
13. Forums
A forum is a part of a website that allows group discussion.
•Members have the ability to start a discussion , read and reply to others.
•Each individual discussion is called a thread.
• a forum is usually monitored by a moderator who has the ability to edit forum posts.
•Online forums are communities designed to allow users to post on specific topics and ask
questions ,answer ,or showcase their accomplishments.
•Without forums, consumers would be completely on support that a company provide.
14. Summary
Its my opinion that while all forms internet communication have their advantages and
disadvantages , instant messaging is generally the most convenient and efficient way to
communicate online. It allows for quick ,real-time communication without the need to check
your email inbox or wait for a response. That said, email is still a valuable tool for more formal or
lengthy communication. It all depends on your needs and preferences.
