Talk abstract: Misinformation has always been part of humankind’s information ecosystem. The development of tools and methods for automatically detecting the reliability of information has received a great deal of attention in recent years, such as calculating the authenticity of images, calculating the likelihood of claims, and assessing the credibility of sources. Unfortunately, there is little evidence that the presence of these advanced technologies or the constant effort of fact-checkers worldwide can help stop the spread of misinformation. I will try to convince you that you also hold various false beliefs, and argue for the need for technologies and processes to assess the information shared by ourselves or by others, over a longer period of time, in order to improve our knowledge of our information credibility and vulnerability, as well as those of the people we listen to. Also, I will describe the benefits, challenges, and risks of automated information corrective actions, both for the target recipients and their wider audience.

The importance of a carefully crafted message cannot be overstated. The government has many possible dissemination tools and sometimes the tool can dramatically affect the reception of the message. Proof of this became evident during the 2008 U.S. Presidential election where fundraising from the internet dwarfed conventional fundraising methods. The internet proved a more viable tool to communicate with the public. When communicating terrorist related information, it is critical to reach the target audience with the targeted message.

Talk abstract: Misinformation has always been part of humankind’s information ecosystem. The development of tools and methods for automatically detecting the reliability of information has received a great deal of attention in recent years, such as calculating the authenticity of images, calculating the likelihood of claims, and assessing the credibility of sources. Unfortunately, there is little evidence that the presence of these advanced technologies or the constant effort of fact-checkers worldwide can help stop the spread of misinformation. I will try to convince you that you also hold various false beliefs, and argue for the need for technologies and processes to assess the information shared by ourselves or by others, over a longer period of time, in order to improve our knowledge of our information credibility and vulnerability, as well as those of the people we listen to. Also, I will describe the benefits, challenges, and risks of automated information corrective actions, both for the target recipients and their wider audience.

Self-concept is the set of beliefs that one has about one's behavior, ability, and unique characteristics. It answers the question, "Who am I?” This is a mental picture that a person has about oneself. Self-concept can be adjusted when an individual is young and trying to identify oneself. People contain different sets of values and personalities that differentiate them from other individuals. Self-concept is defined by relations with others such as friends, siblings, spouses, and parents. There are three parts of self-concept: self-image, self-esteem, and ideal self. Self-image refers to the view a person has of oneself. This is a mixture of attributes such as physical appearance, personality, and social roles.Self-esteem is how people value themselves. This can be broken down further as how a person compares oneself with others and how others respond to oneself. When people respond positively to a person’s behavior then they are most likely to develop positive self-esteem. The ideal self is how people would like to be. In most cases what people see of themselves and how they would like to be seen doesn’t match.
In this essay, I describe myself as an intelligent person. This is the box that reflects my personality. Intelligence is the potential that one has to acquire knowledge and skills, thereafter applying them in the day to day life experiences. There are three categories of intelligence (Visser, et al., 2006). Practical intelligence is one, it refers to how one can react to stimuli in the environment by either changing it to suit one's needs or to find a way of adapting to it. This is the ability to survive and to thrive in the real world that is filled with competition and uncertainties. It implies the ability that one has to be outstanding when dealing with day to day tasks and challenges. This is simply a way that one relates to the world around them.
Creative intelligence is how one approaches new information, tasks, or challenges. It tastes a person’s ability to apply acquired knowledge to solve new problems. A person should be able to tackle the same problem differently when it is presented again. A person should be able to come up with a new way that is better and more efficient than the one that was used before. This is the measure of how a person can be able to.

Clinical staff members are not washing their hands between patients
Hand washing is one of the most important procedures for preventing infections. Health care workers hands are mostly contaminated after activities such as cleaning wounds, cleaning patient’s excrement and touching contaminated surfaces in patient’s rooms. Bacteria from these activities can cause infections to other patients being handled by the health worker, to the health workers and even death in postpartum women during child delivery. To prevent these hospital-associated infections improving hygiene in the patient’s rooms and practicing hand washing regularly after every encounter with a patient especially after being exposed to bodily fluids, before and after contact with a patient and their surrounding will go a long way. Hospitals should provide more hand rub dispensers and create awareness to make hand washing a hard-wired habit.
Employees are not knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishers
Almost all buildings are fitted with fire extinguishers in case of fire incidents but unless the employees know how to use them they are on no use to them. As much as every building has a fire extinguisher very few people are trained or ever used a fire extinguisher. Only a handful of people can operate a fire extinguisher in the event of a fire breakout. Employers should provide training sessions to their employees to make them familiar with the steps and principles of using fire extinguishers, they should also be conversant with the PASS acronym as a way to remember the steps in using a fire extinguisher and know where to find them. Fire engines might take time to arrive at fire incidents and having these skills will help reduce and prevent the spread and damage caused by the fire.

Psychology
Why We Care About Theories
The goal of science is to develop and test theories. Science does a lot of other
things that don’t seem like they have anything to do with theory development, but
the bottom line is producing good theories.
Scientists and philosophers argue about what a theory really is, and what a good
theory looks like. Some of the formal definitions include:
“A set of principles that explains and predicts many, but not all, observed
relationships within a given domain of inquiry” (Stangor, 1998, p. 30).
“A formalized set of concepts that organizes observations and inferences
and predicts and explains phenomena” (Graziano & Raulin, 2000, p. 37).
There are many more definitions, but they generally come down to these basic
parts:
1. explain nature
2. predict events
3. tell us what to look for and how to look
4. tell us what our data mean
Theories explain why things are the way they are. Why does water become “hard”
at 0ºC? Chemical theories explain why compounds change state: what they are
made of (atoms, molecules, etc.) and how they respond to change in energy (tem-
perature). Why do people become racially prejudiced? Social psychology proposes
a dozen theories to explain various aspects of this complex event, for example, it
seems to reflect a cognitive bias that produces negatively valanced thoughts about
others for whom we have poorly articulated cognitive schemata. “Why?” is the
scientist’s mantra, and when you stop asking Why? it’s time to pack it in and turn
on the TV.
Good theories go beyond just answering Why? to being able to predict events
given the necessary information. A theory that explains why ice forms but can’t
predict when it will form has a problem. Psychological theories are better at
explaining why than at making predictions, in part because behavior is multiply de-
termined: it is the result of many complicated intersecting and interacting factors.
Ice is not as simple as it seems at first, either: how about predicting the formation
of ice from dirty water? salty water? .
