Self-concept is the set of beliefs that one has about one's behavior, ability, and unique characteristics. It answers the question, "Who am I?” This is a mental picture that a person has about oneself. Self-concept can be adjusted when an individual is young and trying to identify oneself. These perceptions become clearer as one matures as one can learn from their experiences and that of others( Elliott, 2013). One can understand what is expected of them and what is important to them.
People contain different sets of values and personalities that differentiate them from other individuals. Self-concept is defined by relations with others such as friends, siblings, spouses, and parents. There are three parts of self-concept: self-image, self-esteem, and ideal self. Self-image refers to the view a person has of oneself. This is a mixture of attributes such as physical appearance, personality, and social roles.Self-esteem is how people value themselves. This can be broken down further as how a person compares oneself with others and how others respond to oneself. When people respond positively to a person’s behavior then they are most likely to develop positive self-esteem. The ideal self is how people would like to be. In most cases what people see of themselves and how they would like to be seen doesn’t match.
In this essay, I describe myself as an intelligent person. This is the box that reflects my personality. Intelligence is the potential that one has to acquire knowledge and skills, thereafter applying them in the day to day life experiences. There are three categories of intelligence (Visser, et al., 2006). Practical intelligence is one, it refers to how one can react to stimuli in the environment by either changing it to suit one's needs or to find a way of adapting to it. This is the ability to survive and to thrive in the real world that is filled with competition and uncertainties. It implies the ability that one has to be outstanding when dealing with day to day tasks and challenges. This is simply a way that one relates to the world around them.
Creative intelligence is how one approaches new information, tasks, or challenges. It tastes a person’s ability to apply acquired knowledge to solve new problems. A person should be able to tackle the same problem differently when it is presented again. A person should be able to come up with a new way that is better and more efficient than the one that was used before. This is the measure of how a person can be able to.

three categories of intelligence (Visser, et al., 2006). Practical
intelligence is one, it refers to how one can react to stimuli in

find a way of adapting to it. This is the ability to survive and to
thrive in the real world that is filled with competition and
uncertainties. It implies the ability that one has to be
3. outstanding when dealing with day to day tasks and challenges.
This is simply a way that one relates to the world around them.
Creative intelligence is how one approaches new information,
tasks, or challenges. It tastes a person’s ability to apply
acquired knowledge to solve new problems. A person should be
able to tackle the same problem differently when it is presented
again. A person should be able to come up with a new way that
is better and more efficient than the one that was used before.
This is the measure of how a person can be able to think outside
the comfort zone to come up with new solutions.
Analytical intelligence defines a person’s ability to analyze and
evaluate ideas. It also defines an individuals’ ability to solve
emerging problems with the easiest of ease and come up with
decisions. One has to be intelligent and possess skills that
would enable one to comfortably analyses a situation
considering all aspects involved.
The intelligence container is suitable for this discussion because
personally when it comes to the attributes of problem-solving, I
possess the knowledge and skills to be able to solve them and in
the most effective manner. Creativity is key in the box because
there are endless possibilities for a problem. People tend to fear
taking up some of the measures that could be the solution.
Learning from previous mistakes and achievements is a way of
increasing intelligence as one knows how to tackle a problem
the next time it is encountered.
Several tangible factors can be used to represent a person.
People are easily judged by their physical appearance and
personal grooming. Clothing is an important factor that is used
when describing a person. There are several clothing types that
people wear to work and other places that they visit. These
clothes should be used appropriately and following the task to
be performed. One should under no circumstance go to work
dressed casually or go on vacation dressed officially.
People have different opinions regarding books. It is the oldest
and most accurate source of knowledge. Intelligence is earned
and the majority of the time is through reading. We learn the
4. history of various people and how they tacked problems during
their time. We learn to speak appropriately from the books
considering every occasion that we are in. Books represent hard
work and determination in a person because it is by considering
those factors that one can comprehend a book and enjoy reading
it.
The internet is a new phase of technological advancement. It is
a source of information and entertainment. However, one has to
possess a device that is equipped with connectivity to be able to
access it. The laptop is, in my opinion, the best device to be
used when accessing the internet. This is because it is portable
hence one can go to places with ease while carrying the device.
It has a better screen in terms of size and quality of visual and
cam perform tasks better and faster than a regular smartphone.
These days people can work while at home thanks to the
internet. Tasks are not only performed easier and faster but one
can be able to multitask while using the computer.
The environment in which one lives in describes a person's
personality. Some people cannot stand being in a dirty or untidy
environment. This is in most cases shows a person’s neatness. It
is often reflected from the residential place to the workplace
and the person’s physical appearance.
The bedroom is most cases is where people start and finish
their days. I prefer being in a clean room with all the
components being kept tidy and stored where they are meant to
be kept. Peace of mind is attained by being in a tidy room and
one can focus on performing other tasks. This has a positive
effect on the creativity level of a person.
SUMMARY
A self-concept box is a box that describes the perceived self of
a person by people. It is a mystery because it is hard to tell
what people think. It is however worrying not to know people's
thoughts. Self-concept is the perception that an individual has
about oneself. These include behavior, abilities, and
5. characteristics.Self-concept is best-natured as one is younger to
avoid future problems such as low self-esteem (Elliot, 2013).
Intelligence is an example of self-concept. A person can believe
that they are intelligent by the way they act and tackle
problems. A person is also said to be intelligent by the way they
take analysis situations and problems before they can come up
with the best solution. A person is also said to be intelligent
based on their level of creativity. This is the ability of a person
to tackle the same problem but differently the next time it is
encountered. This should be done in a much more efficient way.
Several tangible objects can be used to describe a person. These
include the normal stuff that is around an individual’s
environment and things that an individual can relate to. These
may include cars, books, room, clothing, and other personal
items that a person is attached to. These items describe a
person’s attitude, idea, and belief.
A person’s attitude is what drives them into performing a task
and activities. Anindividual needs to have the right attitude
because it is then that the will get to perform an activity putting
in all the effort and determination. Tangible objects that a
person identifies with giving people a general idea of the
individual that one is. It also shows the type of beliefs that of a
person.

THE SELF Concept box Assignment
THE SELF CONCEPT
6. COM 1090
The Self-Concept is a stable collection of beliefs about oneself.
Generally, one’s self-concept embodies the answer to "Who am
I? It includes the past, present, and future selves, where future
selves represent individuals' ideas of what they might become,
what they would like to become, or what they are afraid of
becoming.
Self-concept is distinguishable from self-awareness, which
refers to the extent to which self-knowledge is defined,
consistent, and currently applicable to
one's attitudes and dispositions.
Self-Concept also differs from Self-Esteem.
Self-concept is a cognitive or descriptive component of one's
self (e.g. "I am a fast runner"), while Self-Esteem is evaluative
and opinionated (e.g. "I feel good about being a fast runner").
