Comparison of hand stainless steel and nickel titanium rotary / dental implant courses

This study compared the effects of stainless steel hand instruments and nickel-titanium rotary FlexMaster files on root canal curvature during root canal preparation. 194 root canals were prepared by 8 experienced dentists, with 110 canals prepared using FlexMaster files and 84 canals prepared using hand instruments. The results showed that the use of FlexMaster files resulted in significantly less straightening of the root canals and shorter preparation times, compared to the use of hand instruments. Master apical file sizes were also significantly larger when using FlexMaster files.

MATERIALS AND METHOD :
Eight experienced dentists
194 root canals of maxillary , mandibular
premolars and molars in patients
Each dentist was familiar with both the
hand and the rotary instrumentation.

TOOTH INCLUSION CRITERIA:
 Teeth with at least one curved canal and
whose preoperative canal angulation was 10°
 Canals with more than one curve (s- shaped)
were eliminated from the study
 Canals that could not be distinguished from
each other because of superimposition of the
canals were eliminated from the study.

ROOT CANAL PREPARATION :
 110 Root canals were prepared by FlexMaster
instruments using a crown-down technique.
 84 Canals were enlarged using hand
instruments and traditional techniques.

ASSESSMENT OF ROOT CANAL CURVATURE
AND DEGREE OF STRAIGHTENING :
 Standardized working length radiographs were
taken before the instrumentation with the initial
instruments inserted into the canals
 Radiographs were taken with a bite block and
the EndoRay II film holding instrument.
 The degree and the radius of canal curvature
were determined using a computerized digital

ASSESMENT OF CANAL PREPARATION AND
ANALYSIS OF DATA :
 In addition to the degree of straightening, the
time for canal preparation was also recorded.
 Preparation time and the degree of
straightening were statistically analyzed using
the Mann-Whitney U test .

RESULT :
The use of FlexMaster instruments
resulted in significantly less straightening
and a shorter preparation time
(p<0.0001) compared with hand
instruments. Master apical file sizes
were significantly greater for FlexMaster
than for the hand instruments (p< 0.01)

The original curvature was significantly
better maintained with rotary FlexMaster
files than with hand instruments.

This study compared the success rates of classic endodontic techniques (using hand files, 5.25% NaOCl and 3% H2O2 irrigants, multiple appointments) to contemporary techniques using endodontic equipment (using files and motors, usually single appointments, using NaOCl, EDTA, chlorhexidine, H2O2, microscopes, apex locators). It analyzed medical records of 984 endodontic treatments on 857 patients. The demands for orthodontic treatment are in continuous increasing, hence producing an ideal treatment plan need to cover all stages of the treatment carefully, especially the retention and stabilization stage. As, any changing in the arch width through changing the inter-molar width will lead to impair the stabilization of the arch and will lead to relapse. Due to that, the present study performed to evaluate the inter-molar width of the mandible using three different commercial orthodontic wires. Thirty patients had been allocated in this study, using a cone beam computed tomography to create an assessment for the inter-molar width. It concluded that there is an increase in the inter-molar width between pre-treatment and after finishing of aligning stage, also there is a highly significant increase in post-aligning stage between the three groups.

This study compared the cleaning efficacy of the RaCe rotary instrumentation system to manual instrumentation using stainless steel K-files in extracted human maxillary molars. Twenty teeth were instrumented, with half receiving manual instrumentation and half receiving rotary instrumentation with the RaCe system. Both techniques left dye remaining in the canals, with manual instrumentation removing significantly more dye in the middle third of the canals. Overall, both techniques provided satisfactory cleaning, though neither achieved complete removal of dye from the canal walls. The RaCe system performed comparably to manual instrumentation in cleaning efficacy.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to make an evaluation of inter-canine width before and after the stage of levelling and alignment in the mandible using three different orthodontic arch wires. Subjects and methods: Thirty orthodontic patients both males and females were selected and treated by the same researcher. The patients were randomly divided equally into three groups according to the type of wire that was used, so Group A, B and C will be used. Group A, this group included 10 patients treated with (CNA) wire. Group B, this group included 10 patients treated with (Cu NITI) wire. Group C, this group included 10 patients treated with (NITI) wire. Results: The results showed that inter-canine width showed no significance after the finishing of the leveling and alignment stage.

This micro-CT study investigated the largest original diameters of Vertucci type IV mandibular molar mesial root canals at 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-mm levels short of the apical foramen. The diameters were then matched to currently available instrument sizes recommended for apical preparation. The study found that the original canal diameters were usually larger than recommended instrument sizes, making it impossible to fully shape most canals without risk of deviation, perforation, or root weakening. Approaches are needed to better determine optimal apical preparation size and address the problem of unprepared canal walls.

This study evaluated 5 facebows - the Snow facebow (traditional) and 4 newer earpiece-type facebows (Artex 3-D, Spring-bow, Quick, Whip-Mix Quickmount). 25 dentists performed registrations with each facebow and rated them. The Artex 3-D was easiest and fastest but most expensive. The Quick was favored for its design and cost benefits. Overall, the earpiece-type facebows were superior to the Snow due to being simpler, faster, and preferred by dentists.

Subjects and methods: Thirty patients including both males and females have been allocated in this study. Three orthodontic wires including NiTi, copper NiTi, and Beta-Titanium wires had been used. A special observational technique including cbct had been used to make an evaluation for the inter-premolar width before and after the aligning stage. Results: The results showed a highly significant increase in post-treatment inter premolar width in CNA and NITI groups; compared to Cu NITI group; with highly significant statistical difference (p < 0.01 respectively). Conclusion: The present study showed that there is a high significant increase in the inter-premolar width in the mandible, when comparing the wires in the groups (NiTi, CNA, and copper niti). Also, the gender of the patient does not seem to have an impact of the gender on post-treatment efficacy of each wire.

Pre-extraction records provide important clinical data for the continuing treatment of the complete denture patient. These data reveal the progressive changes which occur when natural teeth are extracted. Many methods of recording pre-extraction data have been advocated. Dentists use arbitrary methods while determining the vertical dimension of occlusion and arranging the maxillary anterior teeth. Though there are many advances in techniques and materials employed in the field of prosthodontics for recording vertical dimension at occlusion; still, there is no accurate method for assessing vertical dimension of occlusion in edentulous patients and henceforth difficulty is faced by clinician during denture fabrication. Prosthodontists who do not make use of pre-extraction records and consider the natural findings of the patient while denture fabrication lack the scientific component in denture fabrication, translating into compromised patient‟s satisfaction. Every denture should be characterized according to existing state rather than performing a pearl like arrangement of artificial teeth. Pre-extraction records provide a useful guide while fabricating denture and it should be preferred over arbitrary methods which are commonly used. Therefore, pre-extraction records serve as a reliable tool during denture fabrication.

This study evaluated the performance of four heat-treated nickel-titanium rotary instruments (Twisted Files, WaveOne, Hyflex CM, and V Taper 2H) in shaping S-shaped simulated resin canals. Micro-computed tomography was used to analyze transportation and changes in canal volume after instrumentation. All instruments caused more transportation at coronal versus apical curvatures, except Twisted Files which transported most at the apex. Hyflex CM resulted in the most conservative canal preparations overall with the least transportation, especially at the apical curve. Amongst heat-treated nickel-titanium instruments, CM-wire based Hyflex CM and V Taper 2H created the most favorable canal shapes in resin canals.

Abstract— This case report describes how CAD CAM technology can be used in a complex dental prosthetic treatment. The patient was a 62 years-old man with loss of the vertical dimension resulting in chronic pain in his temporo-mandibular articulations. All the fixed prosthetic elements were created using CAD/CAM technology using the 3Shape™Trios® system and vitro-ceramic blocs (IPS E.max CAD, IvoclarVivadent®) and (IPS Empress LT CAD, Ivoclar Vivadent®). The diagnostic set-up and wax-up served as references for the CAD/CAM system. The two-implant bridge and the mandibular removable prosthesis were produced using a conventional technique. At the end of the treatment, the patient reported good functional comfort with no pain.

This randomized clinical trial compared the effects of two different force magnitudes (200g vs 400g) for maxillary buccal segment intrusion using mini-screws in patients with skeletal open bites. Twenty-two patients were randomly assigned to receive either 200g or 400g of intrusive force. Both groups experienced statistically significant posterior teeth intrusion and open bite closure, with no significant differences between the groups. The study concluded that 200g and 400g forces produced similar outcomes for maxillary posterior intrusion and open bite correction.

5. AIM : The aim of this clinical study was to compare the effect of hand instruments and rotary nickel titanium FlexMaster files used by eight experienced dentists in private practice on the extent of straightening of curved root canals www.indiandentalacademy.com

6. MATERIALS AND METHOD : Eight experienced dentists 194 root canals of maxillary , mandibular premolars and molars in patients Each dentist was familiar with both the hand and the rotary instrumentation. www.indiandentalacademy.com

8. ROOT CANAL PREPARATION :  110 Root canals were prepared by FlexMaster instruments using a crown-down technique.  84 Canals were enlarged using hand instruments and traditional techniques. www.indiandentalacademy.com

14. RESULT : The use of FlexMaster instruments resulted in significantly less straightening and a shorter preparation time (p<0.0001) compared with hand instruments.
