Comparing George Bush and Al Gore
Comparing George Bush and Al Gore
George Bush has seven principles of reform, only four of which I will elaborate on, for a better
quality education in our nation's schools: (1) Achieve Equality; Just as Bush is closing the
achievement gap in Texas, he plans to do so across the states (2) Promote Excellence; Bush believes
in clearly defined standards of basic skills plus crucial knowledge. The states should devise tests to
ensure that the standards are met (3) Ensure that Every Child Can Read; Statistics show that 70% of
4th graders in low income schools cannot read. Bush stands firm that reading is the pathway to
learning and will make sure that every child can read by 3rd grade (4) Improve School Safety;
Juvenile gun laws will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that the only things that our schools need are (1) Recognizing advanced students and
providing advanced education (2) Providing more money to public schools, especially high schools
(3) More advanced technology and provide training in more advanced technological equipment.
ABORTION
In short terms, Bush is against abortion. He believes in pro life with exceptions for rape, incest and
life of the mother. He plans to set the goal that all children should be welcomed in life and protected
by law. He supports parental notification, banning use of taxpayer funds for abortion, and banning
partial birth abortion. He also supports the increasing of adoptions to prevent abortions. He opposes
doctor assisted suicide and believes that a doctor's role is to relieve pain and suffering and cure, not
to end life. Gore, on the other hand, is personally against abortion but he is doing nothing to stop it!!
In fact, he is supporting it by providing funds for programs that inform patients about abortion
services in District of Columbia. Keep it in mind that he is personally against it but also believes
that it is a woman's choice and that he has "stood strong time and time again to defend a woman's
right to choose. He also supports the expansion of Medicaid funds for abortion. I am totally in sync
with Bush's beliefs. I am a Christian and I stand firm of what the Bible says and I think that is what
Bush is standing for also. Abortion is wrong morally and for me, it

President George Bush Essay
George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents, he
had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty–third president of The United States.
Because of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of being
the Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never gave up
on his country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21). The Bush family moved to Texas when George was only
two years old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George's father, had just graduated from Yale and
wanted to attempt a living in the oil business. The family moved to a rough part of Texas called
Odessa, and though times were not always easy , it eventually became a ... Show more content on

He became the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and enjoyed drinking, playing
football, and dating. His grades were not his main priority (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21). Bush admired
his history professor Thomas T. Lyons at Yale. This admiration led George to major in history.
George had very little intellectual curiosity and was not interested in politics. However, some of his
classmates believe that being a stickball commissioner and the head cheerleader were pre– political
experiences. While he was a well known figure, there were many times he faced conflicts at school
for being a male cheerleader, and some agree that this prepared him for the world of politics. Bush
himself claims that his student activities qualified him for the White House. After he attended
Andover, he persistently demonstrated the same leadership: "not a powerful intellect or dazzling
policy but rather an exceptional ability to make friends, work a crowd, cheer people up and take
them all in his direction" (The New York Times Company). When he was the governor of Texas, he
worked with both Democrats and Republicans, and built successful coalitions which led him to
become a popular leader without becoming engaged in policy details (The New York Times
Company). George Bush, the forty–first president, was surprised to see his first–born son become
interested in politics,

I. INTRODUCTION
Bush, George Herbert Walker (1924– ), 41st president of the United States (1989–1993), president
at the end of the Cold War between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
(USSR). Bush also organized an unprecedented global alliance against Iraq during the Persian Gulf
War of 1991, but he was less successful in dealing with U.S. domestic problems and was defeated
after one term by Bill Clinton in the 1992 election.
II. EARLY LIFE
Bush was born in Milton, Massachusetts, but grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. His parents came
from wealthy Midwestern families. His father, Prescott Bush, a partner in a leading Wall Street law
firm, was a Republican U.S. senator from Connecticut between 1952 and 1963. ... Show more

In 1964 Bush ran for the U.S. Senate against Ralph Yarborough, the Democratic incumbent.
Yarborough argued that Bush's views were too extreme, and, like most Republican candidates that
year, Bush was defeated in the landslide that accompanied the victory of Texas Democrat Lyndon B.
Johnson over U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona in the presidential election. Bush's strong
showing in the firmly Democratic state, however, won the attention of a former Republican vice
president and U.S. senator from California, Richard Nixon. In 1966, with assistance from Nixon, an
affluent Houston district elected Bush to the U.S. House of Representatives, and reelected him in
1968.
In the Congress of the United States Bush identified with Republican moderates who were practical
and business–oriented, approaches to which his father had subscribed. He won a coveted seat on the
powerful House Ways and Means Committee (which has jurisdiction over financial matters),
supported the extension of voting rights to 18–year–olds, and voted to abolish the military draft.
After two terms, he gave up his seat in the House to run again for the Senate, expecting to take on
his old rival Ralph Yarborough. The Democrats, however, nominated a much more moderate
candidate instead, former congressman Lloyd Bentsen, who defeated Bush in the fall.
Despite his defeat, Bush was just the kind of

George Bush: The World's First President
From September eleventh to his handling of hurricane Katrina and the invasion of Iraq, there is an
abundance of crisis related information we can use to judge, define, and sum President Bush's
leadership. Nevertheless, through his contribution to various cultures, leadership, and social
outreach intervention programs President Bush excellently portrayed what it means to be a world
president and humanitarian.
As President, George Bush made fulfilling his citizenship responsibilities a priority. Hence, due to
the fact that he was commander in chief, everything he did came with its degree of controversy or
judgment. As President of a powerhouse nation, it was his responsibility not only to engage in the
various cultures of the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he allowed each individual state and school district to design their curriculum, they still
had to adhere to national standards. Hence, President Bush impacted childhood education not only
on a state and local level, but also nationally.
In addition to No Child Left Behind, President Bush also pushed for economic growth in a time of
economic turmoil. His hope was to grow the economy and to raise living standards in the United
States. Thus, by passing the "4% growth project," President Bush targeted "real and sustainable"
GDP growth that would create "good jobs for Americans, reduce the burden of government debt,
and greatly increase prosperity (George W. Bush)." Hence, his economic growth project not only
benefited the United States economy, but the world economy. As a world power, other nations
depend on the health of the United States economy in order to operate efficiently.
Furthermore, President Bush's civic engagement shone through his buttressing of global health and
human freedom. Instantly gripped by the expansive "Freedom Wall," we are reminded–through the
images of soldiers greeting children–how President Bush championed domestic and global freedom.
By enacting his "Freedom Agenda," President Bush encouraged future presidents and congresses to
"continue leading the cause of freedom worldwide (NSDP–58)." Hence, President Bush sought to
"advance liberty" by enacting the "National Security Presidential

The George W. Bush Administration Summary
The George W. Bush administration was riddled with many tragic events, from natural disasters to
terrorist attacks, and economic hardships that made lasting impressions of the American peoples'
perceptions of our government and the world outside of the United States' boundaries. The six
people who conducted this research, George Shambaugh, Richard Matthew, Roxane C. Silver,
Bryan McDonald, Michael Poulin, and Scott Blum, set out to discover how the before mentioned
events effected the group unit of analysis, "U.S. Public", views towards our government, the media,
terrorism, and their overall outlook on America's future. It had appeared that they had the
predetermined notion that because of terrorist attacks and natural disasters the U.S. public would be
pessimistic and afraid foreign countries. Other suggested hypothesis were that peoples' independent
identities affect their perception of national and personal threat, outlook for the future, trust in the
government, and approval of policies passed in our nation's difficult times in a way that creates a
noticeable divide at these identities. Although, neither of these hypothesis seem to be true. This was
explanatory research with a fixed sample panel research design. Which is a better choice than the
other longitudinal research design, repeated cross–sectional, because it allows the researchers to
gage the shift in the U.S. Public's stands on terrorism as a personal threat as well of the detrition of

George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader Essay
George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader
George Bush and Niccolo Machiavelli are two very influential political figures that share some
similar ideals. Machiavelli's work was never intended to be applied to republics, or a democratic
government. The advice written in The Prince would have likely been applied in the time of absolute
government, when countries were ruled by one leader. It is a work which, as Machiavelli himself
says that his philosophy is only applied to principalities, or what we call dictatorships in modern
times.
Elected from the state of Texas, George Bush is a strictly right–winged conservative. When he was
governor, Bush showed no clemency for the death row inmates which resulted in a record number of

And in case you missed the message, Russia has also agreed to supply advanced surface–to–air
missiles to Syria, the latest focus of U.S. ire in the Middle East – again in defiance of Washington's

Presently, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, India, and China have or can develop
devastating nuclear bombs. Nuclear bombs can cause unfathomable destruction of land and people.
North Korea and Iran, the two very radical countries appear to be on the verge of making nuclear
bombs. Mr. Bush on his recent trip to Europe tried to rally support from major leaders to stop selling
nuclear material and secrets to these two states. His opposition of nuclear energy in the hands of
dictators is for the common good of America and other countries. It may not be fair or equitable to
keep the nuclear energy away from a certain group or state, but the result is focused mainly on the
security for the rest of the world.
Machiavelli also wrote how to govern dominions that are being occupied by people that live under
their own laws and values. His first edict reflects the Bush Administration's actions and decisions on
how to spread democracy in Iraq:
"When those states which have been acquired are accustomed to live at liberty under their own laws,
there are three ways of holding them. The first is to despoil them; the second is to go and live there

Rhetorical Analysis Of George W. Bush
The Iraq war was an issue that started in 2003 that had taken over America. Citizens were conflicted
with sending their own to a foreign country to solve an issue that had nothing to do with their own
nation. Four years later into the war, Senator Barack Obama and his constitutes attend a meeting
where Obama was to give a floor speech to George W. Bush. During the speech, Obama expresses
the use of Aristotle's Appeals, logos, pathos, and ethos, along with Kairos in order to convince the
president to pull their troops out of Iraq. One of the main rhetorical devices Obama uses throughout
the speech is pathos. He starts his argument off with a description of an ex–soldier. He explains how
he is blind and how he has lost control of one arm due to the war. He follows up talking about his
family and how they adapt to dad's new lifestyle. Obama starts the speech off appealing to pathos.
He creates an emotional connection between his listeners and our Iraqi soldiers. He also creates a
sense of imagery by saying, "Too many have returned from Iraq with broken bodies and shattered
nerves and wounds that even the best care may not heal... come home shrouded in the flag... moms
and dads and husbands and wives have answered that knock on the door," and it makes one
reevaluate if it's all worth it. He reminds us that we are fighting someone else's war and that
"Americans standing in the world is a precious resources not easily rebuilt." Our lives are precious

George Bush : The Effective President
GEORGE BUSH: THE LEAST EFFECTIVE PRESIDENT

George Walker Bush, the former President of the United States, was not the hero that many people
to this day believe he is – on the contrary, Bush is considered by numerous individuals do be the
worst effective president in the history of the United States of America. Many ordinary Americans
that live in states like Washington, Georgia, and Florida regard Bush as the greatest president in the
history of the United States of America. In their minds, regardless of any controversy, he did it all.
Bush won several wars that had been ongoing for many years, solved conflicts between various
parties as quickly as he could, and fearlessly advocated for the American people and the rights that
they deserved as ordinary American citizens. In the eyes of his loyal subjects (and subsequently,
political supporters), President Bush was a political figure that few people could hope to compare
themselves to. However, George Walker Bush harbors a dark side within himself, an empty void that
indicts curiosity into the mind of the blissfully unaware reader. This seemingly impregnable fortress
of happiness and content that the President portrays is often no more than a façade when it comes to
the dealings of Mr. Bush during his tenure as the President of the United States. Unfortunately,
George Walker Bush is not the dogmatic crusader that many people believe that he is

President George W. Bush
Throughout the years we have had some great United States presidents and some terrible ones.
When we elect a president, we want someone who will improve our country and stabilize our
economy. However, many presidents do not accomplish this during their term and end up causing
the opposite effect to happen. One president who is on the list of presidents that made the country
worse and our economy decline is George W. Bush. He was the United States president from 2001
to 2009. George W. Bush was one of the worst United States presidents for many reasons, but the
top three on my long list are first and foremost his decision to start the war on Iraq, second his
support of the Military Commissions Act, and last but not least his handling of the Hurricane
Katrina disaster. President George W. bush made the decision to go to war with Iraq just months
after the 9/11 terror attacks on the United States. There is evidence that shows Bush was after
Saddam Hussain from day one of his presidency. Paul O'Neill claims that Bush started constructing
arrangements for the invasion of Iraq within days of Bush's inauguration. Bush denied these claims
and discredited O'Neill by declaring he was a dissatisfied employee who was dismissed by the
White House and that O'Neill had no reliable comprehension of U.S. foreign policy. The Iraqi
National Congress argues that soon after Bush's inauguration, Bush contacted them to discuss how
to remove Hussein from power, which confirms O'Neill's allegations

A Day in the Mind of George W. Bush
I am writing to request that you vote for H.J.RES.114: Authorization for Use of Military Force
Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Hastert). This resolution will ensure American national security
and prioritizing the states overseas assets by deploying troops to rid Iraq of weapons of mass
destruction and to bring forth democracy to the Iraqi people. I wholeheartedly support your voting
record, and as the representative of the American people of the Nation's capitol, "I believe your vote
is especially symbolic."
Many in the international community are against American military intervention on Iraqi soil. They
suggest that we either send in United Nations investigators to find out more about the weapons of
mass destruction or work with other countries to establish some sort of sanctions. But I know there
is no time to waste and I must immediately deploy three hundred thousand troops to be able to
declare "Mission Accomplish" as soon as possible and with "limited" American and "Iraqi"
casualties. Others say that we should do nothing on the basis that invading another country is
destructive of human life, costs substantial amounts of money, undermines our moral authority,
could ruin our international reputation, and violates the sovereignty of Iraq. We the United States
and me myself, George W. Bush, lead this so called "Free World" and have the duty to intervene and
the right to protect the American peoples interest for global issues.

Like Father Like Son – George Herbert Walker Bush and George Walker Bush
Although all individuals are unique no matter how closely related they might be, sometimes their
similarities over shadow their differences, and yield a very interesting combination of events that
almost have a deja vu effect on its audience. The Bush family serves as the perfect illustration for
this phenomenon. From their family history and business life, to their life as the Presidents of the
United States, Bush Senior and Junior have led quite parallel lives. The thesis seems to be more
complex than this.

George Bush Biography
Introduction
George W. Bush is one of the most controversial figures in recent memory. From his boyhood
boarding schools and military background to the election in 2000, Bush has been the beneficiary of
preferential treatment. Coming from a family of wealthy politicians and businessmen, he did not
have to want, or work very hard for anything. That is, until his presidency pushed him on to the
global scene making it nearly impossible to underachieve like he did in school and in the military.
Several encounters with both the law and the Securities and Exchange Commission weren't enough
to check the Bush privilege. In fact, his family influence was strong enough to infiltrate the U.S.

After two years of piloting and logging over 336 flight hours, Bush requested to transfer to 9921st
Air Squadron in Montgomery, Alabama under Colonel Reese R. Bricken, in order to work on the
senate campaign of George H.W.'s close friend William Blount. Before he could do so, Bricken
made it clear to Bush that he had not yet fulfilled the obligation agreed upon when he entered the
service, but Bricken approved his request anyhow. Much to the dismay of Bush, on July 31, 1972,
the Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC) overruled Bush's transfer request, saying that he could not
be reassigned to an Air Reserve Squadron in Montgomery because of his service obligations.
Against the orders of his superior officers, Bush relocated to Alabama anyway, leaving his guard
responsibilities unresolved. In August 1972, Bush was suspended from flying due to his failure to
report for a medical exam. Soon after, Bush reapplied for transfer to 187th Tactical Reconnaissance
Group in Alabama and was promptly approved. This is where allegations of Bush going A.W.O.L
come into play. There are no actual records of Bush performing any of his Guard duties between
May 1972 and May 1973. William Turnipseed, the commander of the 187th, doesn't even remember
Bush at all. "Had he reported in, I would have had some recall and I do not," said Turnipseed when

The budget will also be adversely affected. The net loss in the budget would be about 2.5% of the
country's GDP representation $4.5 trillion. There are the figures that could have developed with the
implementation of the tax policy in the country. The adverse effects of the tax policy has forced the
federal government of the United States of America to shift to the alternative minimum taxation as it
is stipulated in the Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 law. This was more lenient as it had much
negative effects on the operation of the country. Even though the revenues and the budgets are
affected, the effect of the alternative taxation was no such much adverse. The alternative taxation

The tax policy that have been implemented need to be financed in order to ensure stability in the

spending is reduced significantly in the market. An example is 2014 whereby the government has to

Bush had an infamous public relations disaster when he displayed his ignorance over the existence
of price scanners, something that the average American was well acquainted with (p. 143). Bush was
simply not good at connecting with the average American. He was better at crisis management than
speaking to the general public. Although he enjoyed initial success with the media, Bush ended with
poor working relations with the press. These relations did not recover when Bush scolded the press
corps about writing stories of him having a tendency for secrecy (p. 147). The one bright spot in
public relations that lasted his entire presidency was the First Lady. His wife Barbara maintained an
excellent public relations image and enjoyed favorable press coverage. Greene's final chapters

Bush's run for another term as president. Loss of the chairman of the Republican National

George W. Bush And Barbara Pierce Bush Essay
As the eldest son of George H. W. Bush and Barbara Pierce Bush, George Walker Bush was born on
July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut while his father was an undergraduate student at Yale. By
the time George was two, the family had moved to West Texas, where his father started working in
the oil industry There his father made a fortune in the oil business. When the Bush family first
moved to Midland, they bought a house at 405 East Maple, among a cluster of tiny colorful houses
in a development nicknamed Easter Egg Row. In November of 1951, the Bushes purchased a larger
home for their growing family at 1412 W. Ohio Avenue. George W. Bush has expressed fond
memories of his childhood home on W. Ohio where he attended nearby Sam Houston Elementary
School and then San Jacinto Junior High. He began high school in Houston, Texas, at Kincaid High
School and then followed in the footsteps of his father by completing his high school education at
Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.
Education
At Yale, Bush was a popular student. He became president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and
enjoyed socializing, watching and playing football, and dating. Grades were not a high priority, and
because of his mischievous behavior, Bush had a few minor run–ins with the law. Despite his
background of privilege, Bush became more at ease with all kinds of people in college.

One of the greatest test for President Bush, came when the Iraq Armies invaded Kuwait in August of
1990. Then Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein did not stop in Kuwait, he threatened to continue into
Saudi Arabia. President Bush then called on the United Nations for backing. With the support of the
people and Congress, Bush was given the approval to send 425,000 US troops to include the support
of 118,000 troops from several allied nations to liberate Kuwait and defend Saudi Arabia from being
invaded. The number of coalition forces eventually grew to nearly 750,000 troops Commanded by

Analysis Of George W. Bush
On the evening of September 11, 2001, George W. Bush managed to change the country forever
with a simple three letter word. President Bush gained numerous advantages following his renown
speech. Many Americans lost their lives on 911 due to terrorism being used as a form of
communication. Language is the cornerstone of all known societies and is essential for a country to
thrive. Without language there is no understanding. Without understanding conflicts are inevitable.
The Bush administration obtained a substantial amount of advantages solely from calling the 911
attacks a "war". American citizens believed that they were obligated to trust every decision the
government made. Primarily because American citizens believed that it was unpatriotic to disagree
with government actions concerning the "war" against a perpetrating country.(Denton 2) Bush and
his administration created a larger margin of error for themselves considering the American citizens
most likely would not question any government decisions pertaining to the "war". President Bush
put himself on a high pedestal for a reason. By calling 911 a "war" Bush established the idea of an
unquestionable retaliation. This instilled in Americans that their president would make confident,
decisive decisions following a tragedy. Repressing doubts or concerns from opposing parties as well
as persistent naysayers of President Bush. One of the biggest advantages gained from addressing
911 as a "war" was sending a

George Bush Multilateralism
In the days surrounding president George W. Bush's address to the United Nations regarding the
political climate in Iraq, Washington had become a whirlpool of two different approaches:
unilateralism and multilateralism. After an attempt to appeal to both sides in Washington with his
initial address to the UN, George Bush's action of waging an arguably unjustified war against Iraq
without assistance from the United Nations can ultimately be explained using realist theory.
The dominant approach supported by Bush's Republican party was unilateralism. Assuming the
Republicans led by Cheney and Rumsfeld were truly under the impression that Saddam Hussein
possessed weapons of mass destruction, while also having ties to international terrorist groups, their
wishes were not irrational. The unilateralists felt that every day the United States did not act was
another day closer to an attack like 9/11. The main idea behind realism is that war is inevitable, and
that the number one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Liberalism is centered around the ideal that peace is maintained through policy, rather than war. In
the eyes of a regulatory liberalist, international organizations can peacefully facilitate conflicts
before they turn into war. Powell urged Bush to seek the UN security council's assistance in re–
administering nuclear inspections teams within Iraq. The idea was that the inspections teams would
find monitor Iraqi facilities to keep Hussein under control. If Saddam did not agree, then war could
be waged. The key is seeking alternative means of promoting peace before waging a costly war.
Under republican liberalism, democratic states do not wage war under the premise that the citizens
pay the costs of war. The multilateralists knew the war and reconstruction of Iraq would be very
demanding. With this in mind, they felt it was in the US's best interest if members of the United
Nations shared the

George Bush Influence
Most Americans believe George W. Bush was an amazing President. He may have been the perfect
man for what was resting ahead of him in both of his terms. But, before his presidency, he had a
considerable amount of political experience as governor of Texas. This advantage gave him the
knowledge he needed to fight the Al–Qaeda and handle other circumstances. Without his previous
understanding of politics, he may have failed to protect America and its people. Bush, before his
presidency, had many events and involvements throughout his lifetime. In 1975, Bush graduated

Bush attempts to persuade the frightened, American people to protect the American values and
support a war by building his credibility through his fair–mindedness and goodwill. Bush says, "The
enemy of America is not our many Muslim friends; it is not our many Arab friends. Our enemy is a
radical network of terrorists, and every government that supports them" (Bush 54). Here, Bush
conveys his fair–judgment and fair–mindedness because he conveys the importance of making the
clear distinction between radical, terrorists and the peaceful "Muslim [and] Arab friends" (54).
George W. Bush made the clear difference as a message to non–Muslim and non–Arab Americans in
order to protect Arabs and Muslims from being falsely accused or threatened by unfair and ignorant
people. Bush's courage to make the distinction and his fair judgment of Muslims and Arabs, despite
much uncertainty after the horrible attacks, builds his credibility by promoting him as a fair, moral

and it left many dead and injured. It tells us that people on the airplane, in the building, people going

George Bush Decision Points Analysis
The eight years of George Bush's presidency were some of the most controversial, and
consequential of any president's in our nations history. There were many domestic and foreign
concerns that were in the forefront of the country's mind, and they had to be dealt with swiftly and
with great competence. Whether that is how President Bush handled those concerns is still highly
debated, by the common man and the President himself. In his book "Decision Points", President
Bush documents the processes and thoughts he went through in deliberating the responses to the
many conflicts that he faced in his early life, his governorship, and mainly his presidency. As in any
presidency there are successes and failures, and Bush displays his opinions of his. The memoir
provides a more personal feel to a man who was in a position that most people can feel little
personal connection with. He provides an honest and insightful into the inner workings of his
cabinet, his decisions, and his reactions to the world around him. Though typically regarded as a
negative presidency by most scholars, Bush does a sufficient job of manifesting the fact that there
were positives of his presidency. George Bush was able to be successful in his help to victims of

George W Bush Speech Analysis
The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers that took place on 11 September 2001 will never be
forgotten among American citizens. The complete destruction of the Twin Towers and the massive
death toll of the attacks left the United States in a widespread panic. On 14 September 2001,
President George W. Bush stepped up and delivered a speech later titled the "Remarks at the
National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service." President Bush proved that he was the leader
that the United States needed at this extremely difficult time. Bush delivered this speech to his
fellow Americans in an attempt to calm the panicking nation. President George W. Bush achieved
his purpose through the speech's structure, his word choice, and his use of the rhetorical devices of
anaphora and repetition. The structure of President Bush's speech was a crucial aspect in getting his
points across to his fellow Americans. At the beginning of the speech, Bush addresses the events that
occurred three days earlier. He does not ignore the great losses of the country or what the country is
feeling. Instead, Bush acknowledges the types of casualties and offers sympathy to the Americans
that are suffering in the second paragraph. Bush focuses on the negatives of September 11 and gets
those sorrowful topics out of the way early when he says, "War has been waged against us by stealth
and deceit and murder" (Par. 3). In the middle of the speech, Bush focuses on God and the strength

George W Bush Legacy Analysis
Bush's legacy as president has been debated politically among scholars since he left office back in
2009. Bush gained the support of many Americans due to all that was accomplished as president and
the legacy he left behind can be seen as beneficial to the United States regarding growth in the
economy, war in the Middle East, and the overall well being of the American people. In contrast,
some people do not concur with all the decisions that Bush made. Those who are anti–Bush see his
two terms as a failure because of the multiple mistakes made that were not beneficial to the United
States. Seven articles were written to display facts and examples that criticize, support, and give an

and the two articles written by Mead, Bush's legacy is portrayed negatively in many ways. The
editorial makes the claim that Bush is to be blamed for invading Iraq with questionable motives
leading to 37,000 soldiers injured or killed. Also the Bush Administration's legalization of the
inhumane torture of captives is unacceptable. It states that Bush had no right to go to war in Iraq
because there was no direct threat to the United States. In Part One of Mead's article, he parallels the
editorial by stating that even though Suddam Hussein was captured and killed after the war, even
that didn't justify Bush's decision to attack overseas. Various failures in international diplomacy,
strategy, and conviction to the people are proof that Bush messed up. Mead clarifies how important

George W. Bush Administration
The George W. Bush administration is remarkably renowned for passing a major tax–cuts package,
known as the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, (Bartels, 2005, p. 19).
The package postulated a reduction in the federal income tax rates, increment in the child credits,
augmented tax–free retirement contributions and the educational savings account, as well as a
gradual elimination of the US estate tax. The entire tax package was to cost the US Treasury over
$1.3 trillion (excluding interest) up to 2010, the expected expiry time of the package. If the system
was to continue in the later years, the Treasury could end up spending over $200 billion each year.
According to Bartels (2005), The Bush move was supported by the ordinary citizens before the
passage of the package. The people's support was not meant to imply the way they were impressed
with the package as contributing to inequality, as they were mainly concerned with their own
individual welfare. Notably, they wanted a system that could relieve them from paying massive or
burdensome amounts of taxes. Though contrary to the perception of the legislation by the people
and their personal preferences regarding it, 36% of the tax benefits were to accrue to the richest,
who comprised only one percent of the American population. The share was almost equal to the one
that was received by those in the bottom who constituted around 80% of the population (Hacker &
Pierson, p. 33).

George Bush Speech On Homeland Security
George Bush vs Obama on Homeland Security George bush and Obama have very differing
opinions on homeland security and terrorism from their different experiences during presidency.
George Bush was president of the United States when the world trade centers were the target of a

to deal with the war in Iraq from the beginning. Unlike Bush, Obama does not agree in war and
insisted on taking our soldiers out of Iraq and back home. Although we weren't involved as much in
the war we did kill Osama bin Laden while Obama has been in office. Both Bush and Obama come
from very different backgrounds and served as presidents at different time periods, so obviously
have very different opinions on how to run the country and especially on homeland security. I am
using Bush's remarks in address to the nation at the Cross Hall for his speech. For Obamas speech, I

Bush opens and closes his speech with the theme of unity. He uses a commoratio to dwell on and
emphasize the tragedy the nation had just faced. He opens his speech with, "These acts of mass
murder were intended to frighten our Nation into chaos and retreat, but they have failed. Our
country is strong." He thus continuously works to empathize with the audience and to feel for the
loss of thousands of families by using charged diction such as "unyielding anger," "despicable acts,"
and "terrible sadness." After backing up his opening statement with several reasons and emotional
examples, he reiterates the same theme of unity by ending with, "This is a day when all Americans
from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace." Unity, nation, and America are
the three themes that Bush works to engrave in each American. He tries to assure us that no attack

George W Bush Speech Analysis
In response to disastrous events, George W. Bush and Emperor Hirohito use various language
techniques to position their audience respectively. The 1945 bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima,
killing many hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, saw the broadcast of Emperor Hirohito's
speech in response to the inhuman action, announcing Japan's surrender in World War II. Similarly,
in the wake of the 2001 Islamic terrorist attack, that killed and injured many innocent civilians and
saw the fall of America's World of Trade Centre; George W. Bush made his infamous speech
commencing the war on terror and reassuring Americans of their safety. Whilst one author declares
war and the second surrenders, several commonalities such as, emotive appeal, listing and inclusive
language are evident language techniques in both texts, used to position their audience.
In both George W. Bush and Hirohito's speeches, emotive appeal is used to manipulate their
audiences into feeling patriotic. Bush, heightens his audience's loyalty by stating, "Were the
brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. No one will keep that light from
shining", whilst Hirohito gains patriotism and restores pride to the Japanese people, reiterating that
they "suffered the insufferable". Through Bush's comments, he is able to direct American's emotions
from sadness, anger and hatred to energy useful in combatting terrorists; whilst Hirohito diffuses

attacked American soil killing nearly 3,000 people. In response to the attack, Bush established the
Department of Homeland Security and announced the "War on Terrorism" which still continues to
this day. Bush focused his attention on Iraq, labeling them as part of an "axis of evil". He proclaimed
that they were in the possession of weapons of mass destruction and had to be stop. Eventually, they
captured the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein but no weapons were discovered. In 2000 and again in
2004, Bush was named the Person of the Year by Time magazine.

Success of President George W. Bush
Being one of only two President whose fathers were former President, George W. Bush had big
shoes to fill. To establish himself as a separate person, Bush did his best to publicly distance from
his families privilege life. Although this in did not apply to all aspects of his presidency, Bush
handled both foreign and domestic affairs in a way he thought to be most successful for the nation.
Entering into his first term as President, Bush had some domestic changes. He severed America's
ties with international health programs that penalized the practice of abortion and limited
government funding to go towards embryonic stem cells research. While the disuse of abortion and
embryonic stem cells was viewed as successful by the unborn child, it angered many Americans,
especially knowing that scientists believed the cure to Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases could be
found through embryonic stem cells. To the pleasure of oil companies, Bush advocated for a new oil
exploration of the coast of Alaska in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and allowed his Vice
President to negotiate his administration's energy policy with large oil companies during "closed–
door" meetings. However, this and a number of other harmful acts angered environmentalists,
including the rejecting Kyoto Treaty which would have limited greenhouse gas emissions. Perhaps
his largest affect on domestic affairs was the $1.3 trillion dollar tax cut, which turned out to be
unsuccessful as the federal surpluses from

government. Surely there will be the portion of the American people who support George W. Bush
and would deem him a "great man," as well as those who do feel he was an effective leader.
Regardless of whether you are a supporter of President Bush or skeptic of his abilities, all can agree
that George W. Bush lead our country through its darkest day. For a leader to be a "great" man, he
must exemplify certain qualities. A few of these qualities might include emotional and cognitive
intelligence, superior communication skills, bureaucratic, pragmatic and rational, and trustworthy.

Bush went on to join the Air National Guard after completing his schooling at Yale. After, Bush
graduated from Harvard business school with his MBA in 1974. One might argue that President
George W. Bush was forming his leadership capabilities during this time as he nurtured his cognitive
abilities with his formal education and self–discipline from his military service in the Air National
Guard. When Bush's time in the Air National Guard concluded, he moved back to Midland, Texas.
Initially, he began exploring the oil industry and formed his own oil exploration company. While
continuing to grow his oil company, Bush began to make his presence known in the political arena.
After the congressman in the Midland district announced his retirement, George W. Bush joined the
race to take over this senate seat. Much to President Bush's dismay, he lost the race to a conservative
Democrat. Looking back on the events of President Bush's life before holding the office of
Presidency, we can see that determination and drive were forming as he learned from losses and
worked for gains (Greenstein

Comparing George Bush And Al Gore

  • 1. Comparing George Bush and Al Gore Comparing George Bush and Al Gore George Bush has seven principles of reform, only four of which I will elaborate on, for a better quality education in our nation's schools: (1) Achieve Equality; Just as Bush is closing the achievement gap in Texas, he plans to do so across the states (2) Promote Excellence; Bush believes in clearly defined standards of basic skills plus crucial knowledge. The states should devise tests to ensure that the standards are met (3) Ensure that Every Child Can Read; Statistics show that 70% of 4th graders in low income schools cannot read. Bush stands firm that reading is the pathway to learning and will make sure that every child can read by 3rd grade (4) Improve School Safety; Juvenile gun laws will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think that the only things that our schools need are (1) Recognizing advanced students and providing advanced education (2) Providing more money to public schools, especially high schools (3) More advanced technology and provide training in more advanced technological equipment. ABORTION In short terms, Bush is against abortion. He believes in pro life with exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother. He plans to set the goal that all children should be welcomed in life and protected by law. He supports parental notification, banning use of taxpayer funds for abortion, and banning partial birth abortion. He also supports the increasing of adoptions to prevent abortions. He opposes doctor assisted suicide and believes that a doctor's role is to relieve pain and suffering and cure, not to end life. Gore, on the other hand, is personally against abortion but he is doing nothing to stop it!! In fact, he is supporting it by providing funds for programs that inform patients about abortion services in District of Columbia. Keep it in mind that he is personally against it but also believes that it is a woman's choice and that he has "stood strong time and time again to defend a woman's right to choose. He also supports the expansion of Medicaid funds for abortion. I am totally in sync with Bush's beliefs. I am a Christian and I stand firm of what the Bible says and I think that is what Bush is standing for also. Abortion is wrong morally and for me, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. President George Bush Essay George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents, he had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty–third president of The United States. Because of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of being the Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never gave up on his country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21). The Bush family moved to Texas when George was only two years old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George's father, had just graduated from Yale and wanted to attempt a living in the oil business. The family moved to a rough part of Texas called Odessa, and though times were not always easy , it eventually became a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He became the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and enjoyed drinking, playing football, and dating. His grades were not his main priority (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21). Bush admired his history professor Thomas T. Lyons at Yale. This admiration led George to major in history. George had very little intellectual curiosity and was not interested in politics. However, some of his classmates believe that being a stickball commissioner and the head cheerleader were pre– political experiences. While he was a well known figure, there were many times he faced conflicts at school for being a male cheerleader, and some agree that this prepared him for the world of politics. Bush himself claims that his student activities qualified him for the White House. After he attended Andover, he persistently demonstrated the same leadership: "not a powerful intellect or dazzling policy but rather an exceptional ability to make friends, work a crowd, cheer people up and take them all in his direction" (The New York Times Company). When he was the governor of Texas, he worked with both Democrats and Republicans, and built successful coalitions which led him to become a popular leader without becoming engaged in policy details (The New York Times Company). • 5. George bush Essay I. INTRODUCTION Bush, George Herbert Walker (1924– ), 41st president of the United States (1989–1993), president at the end of the Cold War between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Bush also organized an unprecedented global alliance against Iraq during the Persian Gulf War of 1991, but he was less successful in dealing with U.S. domestic problems and was defeated after one term by Bill Clinton in the 1992 election. II. EARLY LIFE Bush was born in Milton, Massachusetts, but grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. His parents came from wealthy Midwestern families. His father, Prescott Bush, a partner in a leading Wall Street law firm, was a Republican U.S. senator from Connecticut between 1952 and 1963. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1964 Bush ran for the U.S. Senate against Ralph Yarborough, the Democratic incumbent. Yarborough argued that Bush's views were too extreme, and, like most Republican candidates that year, Bush was defeated in the landslide that accompanied the victory of Texas Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson over U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona in the presidential election. Bush's strong showing in the firmly Democratic state, however, won the attention of a former Republican vice president and U.S. senator from California, Richard Nixon. In 1966, with assistance from Nixon, an affluent Houston district elected Bush to the U.S. House of Representatives, and reelected him in 1968. In the Congress of the United States Bush identified with Republican moderates who were practical and business–oriented, approaches to which his father had subscribed. He won a coveted seat on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee (which has jurisdiction over financial matters), supported the extension of voting rights to 18–year–olds, and voted to abolish the military draft. After two terms, he gave up his seat in the House to run again for the Senate, expecting to take on his old rival Ralph Yarborough. The Democrats, however, nominated a much more moderate candidate instead, former congressman Lloyd Bentsen, who defeated Bush in the fall. Despite his defeat, Bush was just the kind of ... • 7. George Bush: The World's First President From September eleventh to his handling of hurricane Katrina and the invasion of Iraq, there is an abundance of crisis related information we can use to judge, define, and sum President Bush's leadership. Nevertheless, through his contribution to various cultures, leadership, and social outreach intervention programs President Bush excellently portrayed what it means to be a world president and humanitarian. As President, George Bush made fulfilling his citizenship responsibilities a priority. Hence, due to the fact that he was commander in chief, everything he did came with its degree of controversy or judgment. As President of a powerhouse nation, it was his responsibility not only to engage in the various cultures of the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he allowed each individual state and school district to design their curriculum, they still had to adhere to national standards. Hence, President Bush impacted childhood education not only on a state and local level, but also nationally. In addition to No Child Left Behind, President Bush also pushed for economic growth in a time of economic turmoil. His hope was to grow the economy and to raise living standards in the United States. Thus, by passing the "4% growth project," President Bush targeted "real and sustainable" GDP growth that would create "good jobs for Americans, reduce the burden of government debt, and greatly increase prosperity (George W. Bush)." Hence, his economic growth project not only benefited the United States economy, but the world economy. As a world power, other nations depend on the health of the United States economy in order to operate efficiently. Furthermore, President Bush's civic engagement shone through his buttressing of global health and human freedom. Instantly gripped by the expansive "Freedom Wall," we are reminded–through the images of soldiers greeting children–how President Bush championed domestic and global freedom. By enacting his "Freedom Agenda," President Bush encouraged future presidents and congresses to "continue leading the cause of freedom worldwide (NSDP–58)." • 9. The George W. Bush Administration Summary The George W. Bush administration was riddled with many tragic events, from natural disasters to terrorist attacks, and economic hardships that made lasting impressions of the American peoples' perceptions of our government and the world outside of the United States' boundaries. The six people who conducted this research, George Shambaugh, Richard Matthew, Roxane C. Silver, Bryan McDonald, Michael Poulin, and Scott Blum, set out to discover how the before mentioned events effected the group unit of analysis, "U.S. Public", views towards our government, the media, terrorism, and their overall outlook on America's future. It had appeared that they had the predetermined notion that because of terrorist attacks and natural disasters the U.S. public would be pessimistic and afraid foreign countries. Other suggested hypothesis were that peoples' independent identities affect their perception of national and personal threat, outlook for the future, trust in the government, and approval of policies passed in our nation's difficult times in a way that creates a noticeable divide at these identities. Although, neither of these hypothesis seem to be true. This was explanatory research with a fixed sample panel research design. Which is a better choice than the other longitudinal research design, repeated cross–sectional, because it allows the researchers to gage the shift in the U.S. Public's stands on terrorism as a personal threat as well of the detrition of salience for different ... • 11. George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader Essay George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader George Bush and Niccolo Machiavelli are two very influential political figures that share some similar ideals. Machiavelli's work was never intended to be applied to republics, or a democratic government. The advice written in The Prince would have likely been applied in the time of absolute government, when countries were ruled by one leader. It is a work which, as Machiavelli himself says that his philosophy is only applied to principalities, or what we call dictatorships in modern times. Elected from the state of Texas, George Bush is a strictly right–winged conservative. When he was governor, Bush showed no clemency for the death row inmates which resulted in a record number of ... And in case you missed the message, Russia has also agreed to supply advanced surface–to–air missiles to Syria, the latest focus of U.S. ire in the Middle East – again in defiance of Washington's stated wishes (Karon)." Presently, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, India, and China have or can develop devastating nuclear bombs. Nuclear bombs can cause unfathomable destruction of land and people. North Korea and Iran, the two very radical countries appear to be on the verge of making nuclear bombs. Mr. Bush on his recent trip to Europe tried to rally support from major leaders to stop selling nuclear material and secrets to these two states. His opposition of nuclear energy in the hands of dictators is for the common good of America and other countries. It may not be fair or equitable to keep the nuclear energy away from a certain group or state, but the result is focused mainly on the security for the rest of the world. Machiavelli also wrote how to govern dominions that are being occupied by people that live under their own laws and values. His first edict reflects the Bush Administration's actions and decisions on how to spread democracy in Iraq: "When those states which have been acquired are accustomed to live at liberty under their own laws, there are three ways of holding them. • 13. Rhetorical Analysis Of George W. Bush The Iraq war was an issue that started in 2003 that had taken over America. Citizens were conflicted with sending their own to a foreign country to solve an issue that had nothing to do with their own nation. Four years later into the war, Senator Barack Obama and his constitutes attend a meeting where Obama was to give a floor speech to George W. Bush. During the speech, Obama expresses the use of Aristotle's Appeals, logos, pathos, and ethos, along with Kairos in order to convince the president to pull their troops out of Iraq. One of the main rhetorical devices Obama uses throughout the speech is pathos. He starts his argument off with a description of an ex–soldier. • 15. George Bush : The Effective President GEORGE BUSH: THE LEAST EFFECTIVE PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY MR. STERE JAMES GOUGH DECEMBER 3RD, 2014 CLARKE HIGH SCHOOL George Walker Bush, the former President of the United States, was not the hero that many people to this day believe he is – on the contrary, Bush is considered by numerous individuals do be the worst effective president in the history of the United States of America. Many ordinary Americans that live in states like Washington, Georgia, and Florida regard Bush as the greatest president in the history of the United States of America. In their minds, regardless of any controversy, he did it all. Bush won several wars that had been ongoing for many years, solved conflicts between various parties as quickly as he could, and fearlessly advocated for the American people and the rights that they deserved as ordinary American citizens. In the eyes of his loyal subjects (and subsequently, political supporters), President Bush was a political figure that few people could hope to compare themselves to. However, George Walker Bush harbors a dark side within himself, an empty void that indicts curiosity into the mind of the blissfully unaware reader. This seemingly impregnable fortress of happiness and content that the President portrays is often no more than a façade when it comes to the dealings of Mr. Bush during his tenure as the President of the United States. Unfortunately, George Walker Bush is not the dogmatic crusader that many people believe that he is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. President George W. Bush Throughout the years we have had some great United States presidents and some terrible ones. When we elect a president, we want someone who will improve our country and stabilize our economy. However, many presidents do not accomplish this during their term and end up causing the opposite effect to happen. One president who is on the list of presidents that made the country worse and our economy decline is George W. Bush. He was the United States president from 2001 to 2009. George W. Bush was one of the worst United States presidents for many reasons, but the top three on my long list are first and foremost his decision to start the war on Iraq, second his support of the Military Commissions Act, and last but not least his handling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster. President George W. bush made the decision to go to war with Iraq just months after the 9/11 terror attacks on the United States. There is evidence that shows Bush was after Saddam Hussain from day one of his presidency. Paul O'Neill claims that Bush started constructing arrangements for the invasion of Iraq within days of Bush's inauguration. Bush denied these claims and discredited O'Neill by declaring he was a dissatisfied employee who was dismissed by the White House and that O'Neill had no reliable comprehension of U.S. foreign policy. The Iraqi National Congress argues that soon after Bush's inauguration, Bush contacted them to discuss how to remove Hussein from power, which confirms O'Neill's allegations ... • 21. A Day in the Mind of George W. Bush I am writing to request that you vote for H.J.RES.114: Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Hastert). This resolution will ensure American national security and prioritizing the states overseas assets by deploying troops to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction and to bring forth democracy to the Iraqi people. I wholeheartedly support your voting record, and as the representative of the American people of the Nation's capitol, "I believe your vote is especially symbolic." Many in the international community are against American military intervention on Iraqi soil. They suggest that we either send in United Nations investigators to find out more about the weapons of mass destruction or work with other countries to establish some sort of sanctions. But I know there is no time to waste and I must immediately deploy three hundred thousand troops to be able to declare "Mission Accomplish" as soon as possible and with "limited" American and "Iraqi" casualties. Others say that we should do nothing on the basis that invading another country is destructive of human life, costs substantial amounts of money, undermines our moral authority, could ruin our international reputation, and violates the sovereignty of Iraq. We the United States and me myself, George W. Bush, lead this so called "Free World" and have the duty to intervene and the right to protect the American peoples interest for global issues. From his boyhood boarding schools and military background to the election in 2000, Bush has been the beneficiary of preferential treatment. Coming from a family of wealthy politicians and businessmen, he did not have to want, or work very hard for anything. That is, until his presidency pushed him on to the global scene making it nearly impossible to underachieve like he did in school and in the military. Several encounters with both the law and the Securities and Exchange Commission weren't enough to check the Bush privilege. After two years of piloting and logging over 336 flight hours, Bush requested to transfer to 9921st Air Squadron in Montgomery, Alabama under Colonel Reese R. Bricken, in order to work on the senate campaign of George H.W.'s close friend William Blount. Before he could do so, Bricken made it clear to Bush that he had not yet fulfilled the obligation agreed upon when he entered the service, but Bricken approved his request anyhow. Much to the dismay of Bush, on July 31, 1972, the Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC) overruled Bush's transfer request, saying that he could not be reassigned to an Air Reserve Squadron in Montgomery because of his service obligations. Against the orders of his superior officers, Bush relocated to Alabama anyway, leaving his guard responsibilities unresolved. In August 1972, Bush was suspended from flying due to his failure to report for a medical exam. Soon after, Bush reapplied for transfer to 187th Tactical Reconnaissance Group in Alabama and was promptly approved. This is where allegations of Bush going A.W.O.L come into play. There are no actual records of Bush performing any of his Guard duties between May 1972 and May 1973. William Turnipseed, the commander of the 187th, doesn't even remember Bush at all. This was more lenient as it had much negative effects on the operation of the country. • 46. Analysis Of George W. Bush On the evening of September 11, 2001, George W. Bush managed to change the country forever with a simple three letter word. President Bush gained numerous advantages following his renown speech. Many Americans lost their lives on 911 due to terrorism being used as a form of communication. Language is the cornerstone of all known societies and is essential for a country to thrive. Without language there is no understanding. Without understanding conflicts are inevitable. The Bush administration obtained a substantial amount of advantages solely from calling the 911 attacks a "war". American citizens believed that they were obligated to trust every decision the government made. Primarily because American citizens believed that it was unpatriotic to disagree with government actions concerning the "war" against a perpetrating country.(Denton 2) Bush and his administration created a larger margin of error for themselves considering the American citizens most likely would not question any government decisions pertaining to the "war". President Bush put himself on a high pedestal for a reason. By calling 911 a "war" Bush established the idea of an unquestionable retaliation. This instilled in Americans that their president would make confident, decisive decisions following a tragedy. • 48. George Bush Multilateralism In the days surrounding president George W. Bush's address to the United Nations regarding the political climate in Iraq, Washington had become a whirlpool of two different approaches: unilateralism and multilateralism. After an attempt to appeal to both sides in Washington with his initial address to the UN, George Bush's action of waging an arguably unjustified war against Iraq without assistance from the United Nations can ultimately be explained using realist theory. The dominant approach supported by Bush's Republican party was unilateralism. Assuming the Republicans led by Cheney and Rumsfeld were truly under the impression that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction, while also having ties to international terrorist groups, their wishes were not irrational. The unilateralists felt that every day the United States did not act was another day closer to an attack like 9/11. The main idea behind realism is that war is inevitable, and that the number one ... The idea was that the inspections teams would find monitor Iraqi facilities to keep Hussein under control. If Saddam did not agree, then war could be waged. The key is seeking alternative means of promoting peace before waging a costly war. Under republican liberalism, democratic states do not wage war under the premise that the citizens pay the costs of war. Bush made the clear difference as a message to non–Muslim and non–Arab Americans in order to protect Arabs and Muslims from being falsely accused or threatened by unfair and ignorant people. Bush's courage to make the distinction and his fair judgment of Muslims and Arabs, despite much uncertainty after the horrible attacks, builds his credibility by promoting him as a fair, moral leader. The strengthened credibility of Bush may encourage the American people to trust his plan as a leader. It was about the tragedy that occurred that day on America's soil. It left many in shock, terror, pain, and anger. The speech was given at the White House and it told Americans what had happened that day. The speech tells us that terrorist had attacked Americans, and it left many dead and injured. It tells us that people on the airplane, in the building, people going in to save lives, moms, dads, friends, and other family members had been trapped in that building. Many people outside of the Twin Towers caught the airplane in action hitting the building, this leaving American's scared for their lives. He let us know what that he had everything under control, but still left us clueless as to what had occurred The limitations were who to blame and who not to blame. Bush didn't want to solely blame one culture or country. He didn't want war, rather he wanted to fix this by protecting America. This leaving a lot of people angry. He not only mentions protecting the good in America, but in other countries as well. He claimed the world was good and just, except for the evil people in the world. Bush told us that we had allies, not mentioning which countries. He claimed that they would help us fight the terrorist who have caused this great distress. • 56. George Bush Decision Points Analysis The eight years of George Bush's presidency were some of the most controversial, and consequential of any president's in our nations history. There were many domestic and foreign concerns that were in the forefront of the country's mind, and they had to be dealt with swiftly and with great competence. Whether that is how President Bush handled those concerns is still highly debated, by the common man and the President himself. In his book "Decision Points", President Bush documents the processes and thoughts he went through in deliberating the responses to the many conflicts that he faced in his early life, his governorship, and mainly his presidency. As in any presidency there are successes and failures, and Bush displays his opinions of his. The memoir provides a more personal feel to a man who was in a position that most people can feel little personal connection with. He provides an honest and insightful into the inner workings of his cabinet, his decisions, and his reactions to the world around him. Though typically regarded as a negative presidency by most scholars, Bush does a sufficient job of manifesting the fact that there were positives of his presidency. George Bush was able to be successful in his help to victims of AIDS and malaria in Africa, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He drew heat from both stem cell supporters and detractors. • 58. George W Bush Speech Analysis The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers that took place on 11 September 2001 will never be forgotten among American citizens. The complete destruction of the Twin Towers and the massive death toll of the attacks left the United States in a widespread panic. On 14 September 2001, President George W. Bush stepped up and delivered a speech later titled the "Remarks at the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service." President Bush proved that he was the leader that the United States needed at this extremely difficult time. Bush delivered this speech to his fellow Americans in an attempt to calm the panicking nation. President George W. Bush achieved his purpose through the speech's structure, his word choice, and his use of the rhetorical devices of anaphora and repetition. The structure of President Bush's speech was a crucial aspect in getting his points across to his fellow Americans. At the beginning of the speech, Bush addresses the events that occurred three days earlier. He does not ignore the great losses of the country or what the country is feeling. Instead, Bush acknowledges the types of casualties and offers sympathy to the Americans that are suffering in the second paragraph. Bush focuses on the negatives of September 11 and gets those sorrowful topics out of the way early when he says, "War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder" (Par. 3). • 60. George W Bush Legacy Analysis Bush's legacy as president has been debated politically among scholars since he left office back in 2009. Bush gained the support of many Americans due to all that was accomplished as president and the legacy he left behind can be seen as beneficial to the United States regarding growth in the economy, war in the Middle East, and the overall well being of the American people. In contrast, some people do not concur with all the decisions that Bush made. Those who are anti–Bush see his two terms as a failure because of the multiple mistakes made that were not beneficial to the United States. Seven articles were written to display facts and examples that criticize, support, and give an opinion somewhere in–between: "George W. Bush's Damaging Legacy: ... In the editorial article "George W. Bush's Damaging Legacy" and the two articles written by Mead, Bush's legacy is portrayed negatively in many ways. The editorial makes the claim that Bush is to be blamed for invading Iraq with questionable motives leading to 37,000 soldiers injured or killed. Also the Bush Administration's legalization of the inhumane torture of captives is unacceptable. It states that Bush had no right to go to war in Iraq because there was no direct threat to the United States. In Part One of Mead's article, he parallels the editorial by stating that even though Suddam Hussein was captured and killed after the war, even that didn't justify Bush's decision to attack overseas. Various failures in international diplomacy, strategy, and conviction to the people are proof that Bush messed up. Mead clarifies how important and necessary all of these issues are when involved in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 64. George W. Bush Administration The George W. Bush administration is remarkably renowned for passing a major tax–cuts package, known as the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, (Bartels, 2005, p. 19). The package postulated a reduction in the federal income tax rates, increment in the child credits, augmented tax–free retirement contributions and the educational savings account, as well as a gradual elimination of the US estate tax. The entire tax package was to cost the US Treasury over $1.3 trillion (excluding interest) up to 2010, the expected expiry time of the package. If the system was to continue in the later years, the Treasury could end up spending over $200 billion each year. According to Bartels (2005), The Bush move was supported by the ordinary citizens before the passage of the package. The people's support was not meant to imply the way they were impressed with the package as contributing to inequality, as they were mainly concerned with their own individual welfare. Notably, they wanted a system that could relieve them from paying massive or burdensome amounts of taxes. Though contrary to the perception of the legislation by the people and their personal preferences regarding it, 36% of the tax benefits were to accrue to the richest, who comprised only one percent of the American population. The share was almost equal to the one that was received by those in the bottom who constituted around 80% of the population (Hacker & Pierson, p. 33). The policy provided ... • 66. George Bush Speech On Homeland Security George Bush vs Obama on Homeland Security George bush and Obama have very differing opinions on homeland security and terrorism from their different experiences during presidency. George Bush was president of the United States when the world trade centers were the target of a terror attack. 9/11 was the day that changed our country forever. During his presidency he also had to deal with the war in Iraq from the beginning. Unlike Bush, Obama does not agree in war and insisted on taking our soldiers out of Iraq and back home. Although we weren't involved as much in the war we did kill Osama bin Laden while Obama has been in office. Both Bush and Obama come from very different backgrounds and served as presidents at different time periods, so obviously have very different opinions on how to run the country and especially on homeland security. I am using Bush's remarks in address to the nation at the Cross Hall for his speech. For Obamas speech, I will be using a speech from the 2012 State of Union Address. The two speeches should help give you an idea on how times have changed and the problems we faced then apposed to now, the mindset of the present, and how each president reacts to ... He thus continuously works to empathize with the audience and to feel for the loss of thousands of families by using charged diction such as "unyielding anger," "despicable acts," and "terrible sadness." After backing up his opening statement with several reasons and emotional examples, he reiterates the same theme of unity by ending with, "This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace." Unity, nation, and America are the three themes that Bush works to engrave in each American. He tries to assure us that no attack can be so detrimental to break apart the nation for good. • 70. George W Bush Speech Analysis In response to disastrous events, George W. Bush and Emperor Hirohito use various language techniques to position their audience respectively. The 1945 bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, killing many hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, saw the broadcast of Emperor Hirohito's speech in response to the inhuman action, announcing Japan's surrender in World War II. Similarly, in the wake of the 2001 Islamic terrorist attack, that killed and injured many innocent civilians and saw the fall of America's World of Trade Centre; George W. Bush made his infamous speech commencing the war on terror and reassuring Americans of their safety. Whilst one author declares war and the second surrenders, several commonalities such as, emotive appeal, listing and inclusive language are evident language techniques in both texts, used to position their audience. In both George W. Bush and Hirohito's speeches, emotive appeal is used to manipulate their audiences into feeling patriotic. Bush, heightens his audience's loyalty by stating, "Were the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. No one will keep that light from shining", whilst Hirohito gains patriotism and restores pride to the Japanese people, reiterating that they "suffered the insufferable". • 76. Success of President George W. Bush Being one of only two President whose fathers were former President, George W. Bush had big shoes to fill. To establish himself as a separate person, Bush did his best to publicly distance from his families privilege life. Although this in did not apply to all aspects of his presidency, Bush handled both foreign and domestic affairs in a way he thought to be most successful for the nation. Entering into his first term as President, Bush had some domestic changes. He severed America's ties with international health programs that penalized the practice of abortion and limited government funding to go towards embryonic stem cells research. While the disuse of abortion and embryonic stem cells was viewed as successful by the unborn child, it angered many Americans, especially knowing that scientists believed the cure to Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases could be found through embryonic stem cells. To the pleasure of oil companies, Bush advocated for a new oil exploration of the coast of Alaska in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and allowed his Vice President to negotiate his administration's energy policy with large oil companies during "closed– door" meetings. However, this and a number of other harmful acts angered environmentalists, including the rejecting Kyoto Treaty which would have limited greenhouse gas emissions.
