the Mediterranean Sea, these fire fountains can reach hundreds of feet into the sky (Lindop). Early
Romans believed this mountain belonged to vulcan, the blacksmith of the gods. Within the last
twenty years, a volcanologists have been working hard to learn how to predict eruptions and keep
people safe. Ash plumes and steam rose into the bright blue sky as the underground earthquake
shook the land and rattled windows all across the eighteen mile town. As the jet circled the island,
in view of lovely beaches and emerald water, looming over this lush paradise was the screaming
volcano. Volcanos erupt when the pressure inside of them becomes so great that the magma
surges up and forces its way out. An exploding volcano can rip apart a mountain in just seconds,
when the eruption is over, a landscape is changed forever. The united states is home to more
volcanos than any other country except Indonesia, and Japan. The majority of these volcanoes
are in Alaska. Until recently, there was no way to predict when a volcano would blow, although
volcanoes give off many warning signs before they erupt. Including smaller earthquakes beneath
the volcano, slight inflation, or swelling. The rising magma eventually causes the solid rock to
break, sending earthquake signals. Most volcanoes give warning signs beginning weeks or

1. Why did the glass not fit in the picture frame right away? Explain what you did to solve the

pieces of wood. So in doing this I had to go to the miter saw and fix the angle and cut off the wood

Math has many different categories within itself and for this project, we had to observe and solve
problems on certain college placement tests. There were many college placement tests to chooses
from but I wanted to choose the college I want to go to and the test that I wanted to answer. I chose
the Monmouth Mathematics Placement Test and Barton College Practice
Placement Test. For each one, we had to categorize how many questions were in each type of math
whether it was algebra, geometry, or calculus. The Barton test had 64 geometry problems and 16
trigonometry problems while the Monmouth test had 50 problems which were all algebra.
I answered the Barton test because I liked the different variety of algebra problems it was
consisted of. The Monmouth test I will do at a future date because that is where I wanna go and
it will help me practice math and help me pass their placement test. I was actually surprised
about both of their tests because I thought they were gonna be a lot harder. Most of the problems
seemed like Algebra 1 and I believe I have excelled in that since freshman year. They both had

Owen aiming to dissuade the british population from running into the war blindly, Miller refers to
Owen s audience and how he set the poem out as a warning and message of what war truly
consists of. Owen writes in an unsettling form and structure, fluctuating the poem to be slow and
fast, contributing to make the reader who never experienced the hardships of war, and trying to
shepherd them away from their pro war mentality. Analyzing the poem, Miller explains, Although
he cannot literally bring this haunting about, through his poem and its grotesque details, he can

Terry and Bonnie Turner, is a humorous movie that shows ambition, along with a strong friendship
throughout the film that will have everyone laughing. Throughout the movie, Tommy Calahan, a
dimwitted and clumsy man, goes through various ups and downs as he tries to succeed in taking
over his father s auto part business. As he is put to the test to find business owners who will
purchase products, to keep his father s business alive, he finds himself in amusing, yet ironic
situations. Better yet, Tommy s father s tight wound assistant Richard, goes along with Tommy on
an entertaining road trip to different businesses, to try to save the Calahan name (Michaels Segal,
1995).
In regards to the humor used in the movie, the authors created Tommy Calahan s character to
have a giddy, yet loving personality. Tommy s personality is crucial throughout the entire movie
because he sheds light on the dark and, at times, serious situations. For example, there is a scene
where Tommy puts Richard s petite jacket on and starts dancing around since Richard is upset.
While dancing, he sings, Fat guy in a little coat to try cheering Richard up, but rips Richard s
jacket right down the middle because of how large he is (Michaels Segal, 1995). Even though he
