The Role Of Inefficiency Of Medical Care
Discussion Case #1 Raymond, a 78 year old man living in a motel, is found by the housekeeper
lying on the floor of his room, semiconscious. The motel manager calls 911, and Raymond is
taken to the closest emergency room, where he lies on a gurney in the hallway for 6 hours before
a physician examines him. Because it is unclear what is wrong with him and he cannot speak
coherently, the physician admits him to the hospital for observation. Later, when it is determined
that he had suffered a stroke; he is discharged to an inpatient rehabilitation facility that has no
knowledge of his medical history including his current medications for hypertension and high
cholesterol. He dies there several weeks later. 1. Identify the source(s) of inefficiency of medical
care. The first source of inefficiency in this case is that the patient was admitted to observation. The
patient would be on Medicare and if he is admitted to observation, then to a rehabilitation center it
will cost more. The patient should have been admitted to the hospital first as an inpatient, preferably
in the ICU, because the patient was unable to communicate (Barry, 2012). When the condition of
stroke was determined the patient needs to stay in the ICU, until stable, before going to a
rehabilitation center. Rehabilitation will not do any good until the patient is well enough to be able
to rehabilitate. If the patient is not stable enough, to be moved then this would cause a readmission,
which would cost more money.

Speed Control of Stepper Motor Using 8051 Microcontroller

Singh Walia H ere s a stepper motor controller based on 89C51 microcontroller to control the
rotation of a DC stepper motor in clockwise and anti clockwise directions. The controller is
simple and easy to construct, and can be used in many applications including machine control
and robotics for controlling the axial rotation in XY plane. A similar circuit can be added to
control the rotation of the motor in either XZ or YZ plane. Fig. 1 shows the block diagram of the
stepper motor control system. The power supply section (in Fig. 2) consists of a stepdown

Clock and reset circuit. Two 33pF capacitors (C4 and C5) are connected to pins 18 and 19 of the
microcontroller, respectively, with an 11.059MHz piezoelectric crystal (XTAL1) across them. The
construction clock frequency of the microcontroller depends on the frequency of the crystal
oscillator used. Typically, the maximum and minimum frequencies are 1 MHz and 16 MHz,
respectively, so we should use a piezoelectric crystal with a frequency in this range. The speed of
the stepper motor is proportional to the frequency of the input pulses or it is inversely proportional
to the time delay between pulses, which can be achieved through software by making use of
instruction execution time. The time taken by any instruction to get executed can be computed as
follows: CГ—12 Time= F where C is the number of cycles an instruction takes to execute and F is
the crystal frequency. The crystal frequency in this circuit is 11.059 MHz, so the time taken to
execute, say, ADD A, R1 (single cycle instruction), is about one microsecond (Вµs). Use of a
6MHz crystal will bring down the instruction execution speed to to 2 Вµs. When power is applied,
the reset input must first go high and then low. A resistorcapacitor combination (R1 C3) is used to
achieve this until the capacitor begins to charge. At a threshold of about 2.5V, the reset input
reaches a low level and the microcontroller begins to function normally.

How Does Pip Change Throughout The Novel
Change is a constant presence everyday and everywhere. Time goes by and everything changes
to what it was to what it is. Mountains turn to pebbles. Nature changes to survive. People s
experiences change them for the better or for the worse. From the beginning of Great
Expectations to its end, all of Pip s experiences and hardships shape him from a little boy naive to
the reality of the world to a man of virtue. In part one of Great Expectations, Pip is shown to be a
naive child who leads a miserable existence, which is evident on the way he acts, the way he
thinks, and the way he views the world around him. Pip uses really negative, bleak and dark words
and phrases to describe the marshes, such as using long black horizontal line to describe... Show

In the third part of Great Expectations, Pip learns the meaning of loyalty from Magwitch and
from Joe. When Magwitch introduces himself as Pip s benefactor, Pip is horrified, but
Magwitch shows Pip the meaning of loyalty with his full belief that Pip would become a
gentleman. It wasn t until Magwitch died that Pip understood what exactly loyalty was and that
understanding made him realize just how horrible a person he had been to everybody around
him, especially Joe and Biddy. When Pip becomes sick and Joe comes to London to care for
him, Pip says, Oh, Joe, you break my heart! Look angry at me, Joe. Strike me, Joe. Tell me of my
ingratitude. Don t be so good to me! (Dickens 493). The quote shows that Pip understands how
arrogant and insulting he had been to Joe and Biddy all those years ago and just how loyal and
kind Joe had been to him his entire life. Despite asking for punishment from Joe, Joe doesn t do
anything but hug him out of joy and by doing so demonstrates his loyalty to Pip even more.
Magwitch s and Joe s displays of loyalty to Pip push him to change one final time and he matures
into a hard working and virtuous

The Conception Of The Theory Of Psychological Altruism
The theory of psychological egoism shows that, at the center of each willful human activity, there is
the inspiration of self interest that we do things on the grounds that they profit us. It doesn t
propose how to live, yet rather how individuals do really go about their lives, regularly. This theory
is extremely controversial because of the ease it decreases all activities to egomaniacal thinking.
Extracting from that perception, we can extend that all the great done by individuals is an outcome
of egotistical intentions. The theory utterly denies both the present altruism, and the self less noble
in individuals. Altruism is the bestowal of a profit by one individual to an additional in a caring
manner. Such practices cost the individual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thomas Plante from Psychology Today he believes ethics and egoism go hand and hand
(2011).When you consider ethics you likely think of individuals making the best decision to bring
about a significant improvement and thinking liberally of the needs of others. Yet, when you break
down why individuals settle on the moral choices that they do, more often than not, they are
considering self interest (that is egoism) (Plante). How I see it, ethical and psychological egoism
only have one substantial difference; which is a normative viewpoint and non normative. A
normative view is likely to speak about what one should do. Normative theories try to suggest
behavior and principles that advise what one should do in a certain situation. In contrast, a non
normative view is one that makes claims only about how things are, rather than how they should be.
Essentially, the difference is how it is vs. how it ought to

is defined as intentional and unauthorised restraint or deprivation of a person s liberty. SID was
intentionally wrongful used its authority to cause confinement on Ricardo s liberty. Although there
has been no application of physical force, there was evidence of complete submission by Ricardo
to the control of SID, which eventually satisfied the test drawn from the High Court s decision in
Balmain New Ferry Co Ltd v Robertson. Through the presence of officers, it was apparent that if
Ricardo refused to follow, he would be restrained by force. So the requirement of total restraint was
abundantly satisfied. SID took the action without any requisite warrants or reasonable evidence; a
tip off was not enough to satisfy, so an imprisonment was unlawful since the beginning as they
barred exit. No minimum time limit is specified for constituting of the action on false
imprisonment, therefore 20 minute of detention or even less than that would still constitute an
action for false imprisonment. There will be no relevant defences since the action was unlawfully
carried out, without any authorised license or statutory authority. So SID would be liable for false
imprisonment; Ricardo can claim for nominal

Invasive Mycoses Research Paper
Invasive Mycoses
Fungi have emerged over the past several decades as major contributors to human disease.(1, 2) As
populations of immunocompromised and/or hospitalized patients continue to increase, so will the
incidence of invasive fungal infections. A recent study reported that fungemia in the United States
increased by 207% between 1979 and 2000.(3) Moreover, as the populations at risk for fungal
infection continue to expand, so will the spectrum of pathogens capable of infecting those
individuals.
Invasive mycoses may be categorized as i) opportunistic or ii) endemic. Endemic infections, which
are generally confined to specific geographic regions, are most often acquired via inhalation of
spores. Infective agents include, but are not limited to, Histoplasma capulsatum, Coccidioides
immitis, and Blastomyces dermatitidis. These infections frequently mimic common pulmonary
infections in initial stages and are therefore often misdiagnosed. Dissemination and advanced
disease follow. Dormancy may also occur, with reactivation of infection years later. This leads to
diagnosis in a geographic regions outside of the high risk area.(4, 5)
Opportunistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the transition to the pseudohyphal growth phase occurs, production of an extracellular matrix
begins and continues as the biofilm matures. This matrix is composed primarily of
carbohydrates, which differs from the protein rich matrix of the C. albicans biofilm. As the
biofilm grows, non adherent yeast cells are released from the biofilm and into the surrounding
medium to facilitate the spread of infection.(89) Transcription factor Bcr1 is the major regulator
of biofilm formation in C. parapsilosis, as in C. albicans, and is required for proper biofilm
formation. Bcr1 functions as regulator of several cell wall and adhesion target genes, and at least
some targets are conserved in C. parapsilosis.(90,

Glass Menagerie Symbolism Essay
In his drama, The Glass Menagerie, Tennessee Williams uses symbolism in order to develop
multi faceted characters and to display the recurring themes of the play. These various symbols
appear throughout the entire piece, and they are usually disguised as objects or imagery. They
allow the reader to know the characters #8217; personalities, and their true inside characteristics.
These symbols also add to the major themes, which develop as the play gains momentum. In the
drama, symbols play the most important role. One of the most recurring symbols is the glass
menagerie itself. It consists of glass animals frozen in form and it is housed at the Wingfield

Throughout the drama, Amanda tells her children about the life she lived when she was young
and living at Blue Mountain. She recalls her dozens of gentlemen callers and her popularity at
the time. Seeing how time has changed for Amanda from her youth to the time presented in the
play, it is plain to understand why she would try to relive her past. Amanda wishes that her life
would be as simple and enjoyable as it was when she was young. She also wants to create such a

and in turn wants to live in the past. She yearns for Laura to have gentlemen callers as she had,

Home is defined as a dwelling place together with the family; an environment offering security
and happiness. Cormac McCarthy in The Road develops this love and passion using the man
and the boy s relationship. Throughout the novel the boy and the man don t have a real home,
moving constantly. Ultimately their version of home is not just a typical building they merely
live in. However, they do find their home within each other and it takes a toll on who they are
and who they become in the end of the novel. Incidentally, McCarthy uses the man to help the
boy feel safe and secure which overall is what the boy sees as home. The boy never wanted to

Mayor Of Casterbridge Character Development Essay
Personal growth is an essential element of human development and progress. However, even
though there are countless opportunities for the characters in Thomas Hardy s novel, The Mayor
of Casterbridge, to embrace and experience this necessary growth, there is an absence of such
personal advancement and progress. Ultimately, the decisions and actions of Michael Henchard,
Lucetta Le Sueur, Donald Farfrae, and Elizabeth Jane all demonstrate repetitive qualities and a
lack of character development which either assist or hinder the justice and moral order of the
characters fates. Throughout Hardy s plot driven novel, the true personalities of the characters
shine forth based upon their responses to the obstacles that they face or the repercussions of their
actions. Some of the characters such as Elizabeth Jane and Donald Farfrae stay true to their own
morals and beliefs as a way to demonstrate their altruism. However, other characters such as Lucetta
and Henchard stay consistent in their own lies in the hope of personal embetterment that only leads
to destruction. Even though Henchard attempts to repent and move past his previous faults by
refraining from alcohol for twenty one years after selling his wife Susan and child Elizabeth Jane,
remarrying Susan after she returns to Casterbridge, and pursuing Lucetta after Susan dies to cover
up their scandal together, Henchard lacks the dignity to move past the lies and the scandals of his
past life. Therefore, when faced with an

Organic Vs Non Organic Vineyards
Organic vs Non Organic Vineyards
There s many differences between organic vineyards and non organic vineyards. Organic vineyards,
for instance, produce their wine by excluding the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides,
fungicides and herbicides. Non organic vineyards on the other hand, produce their wine by applying
these products. Every year that goes by, our generation is becoming more advanced in the usage
of organic products. Many things sold in groceries stores are now available organically, for
instance fruits and other types of nourishments. The positives and negatives of non organic and
organic vineyards both have good arguments but in my opinion organic vineyards tend to have
more of a positive effect in our society. Whenever something is organic, everyone believes that it
s healthy, but that is not the case, not all organic things are as healthy as they are portrayed to be.
Some negatives of organic wine are that organic wine does not contain sulfite, which people
claim it reduces its shelf life and in some cases changes its flavors ( Clearing up the Confusion
about Organic Wine ). Organic wine also brings a much healthier option to the table; in recent
years it has become more popular throughout the Napa Valley. A positive note about organic wine
is that organic wine doesn t contain artificial chemical fertilizers which could possibly cause some
long term side effects to the human body. One never knows what artificial chemical fertilizers

The most significant words are bravery and courage but for Joe to overcome his fear and fight
the bigger man was an act of courage ( Spunk ). The author is explaining the theme of bravery
from that quote because Joe is stepping out of his comfort zone and fighting a bigger man in
Spunk who he knows carries and handgun with him and is not afraid to use it in these kinds of
situations. When Spunk is explaining the scene to everyone in the room He sneaked up an tried

everyone that Joe is a very brave man and had the courage to go out into those woods and fight

Nisei Daughter by Monica Sone Essay
Nisei Daughter, by Monica Sone
Even with all the mental anguish and struggle, an elemental instinct bound us to this soil. Here
we were born; here we wanted to live. We had tasted of its freedom and learned of its brave hopes
for democracy. It was too late, much too late for us to turn back. (Sone 124). This statement is key
to understanding much of the novel, Nisei Daughter, written by Monica Sone. From one
perspective, this novel is an autobiographical account of a Japanese American girl and the ways in
which she constructed her own self identity. On the other hand, the novel depicts the distinct
differences and tension that formed between the Issei and Nisei generations. Moreover, it can be

Throughout her novel, Monica describes events and experiences, which reveal her character and
personality. However, if perceived solely as an autobiography, the major theme of this novel is
overlooked.
I think Monica Sone focuses on, and clearly shows, the tension that arose in the Japanese American
community because they felt torn between two distinct cultures and amongst themselves. There
was also much confusion in this pre World War II and during WWII era concerning the place of
Japanese Americans in the United States. The Issei, or first generation of immigrants from Japan,
were generally highly organized in their communities. They tended to stay in close connection with
traditional Japanese culture. The Issei spoke their native language, practiced traditional Japanese
customs, and formed church groups, and other social communities amongst themselves. Similarly,
the Nisei, or second generation Japanese American, were also highly organized and formed strong
ties amongst themselves separate from the Issei. The Nisei attended Japanese schools, which
enhanced their use of the Japanese language, but more importantly, created a social network of
peers. They participated in church programs, and sports teams together. One main difference
between the Issei and Nisei was that the Nisei were considered Americans. They were born here and
they held complete citizenship. This was not true for the Issei. Another factor that separated the

How Energy Plays A Vital Role As A Catalyst For Economic...
Introduction Energy plays a vital role as a catalyst for economic growth and high standard of
living. It is a fundamental input for all sectors, fuelling transport and providing electricity to
industry, commerce, and agriculture. Yet access to energy remains an elusive goal for
approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide (International Energy Agency, 2009). Given energy
s importance in promoting economic growth, governments tend to assist the energy industry
through policies that support research and development, provide low interest loans, and deliver
subsidies to producers and or consumers. The Global Subsidies Initiative estimated that global
subsidies to fossil fuel producers were approximately $100 billion in 2009 (Global Subsidies
Initiative, 2009). Coady et al. (2010) estimated that consumer subsidies for petroleum products
amounted to $57 billion, globally, in 2003, $519 billion in 2008, and $136 billion in 2009.
Subsidies often reduce production costs, make energy affordable to consumers, and encourage
development of new supply sources. Policies involving subsidies often have intended goals to
address market failures or respond to social and distributional objectives. According to Komives et
al. (2007), government support in the form of a subsidy can be critical for ensuring access to
modern energy services, including electricity for the poorest, thereby enhancing societal welfare.
Although these support programs are used to improve the standard of living for various

Gran Torino is a film full of symbols of hope and redemption. Discuss.
In his film Gran Torino , Clint Eastwood tells the story of an unlikely relationship between Korean
War veteran Walt Kowalski and his Hmong neighbours Thao and Sue. The film explores the
possibility of redemption, second chances , and the hope that comes from having a positive future.
Both Walt and Thao experience redemption in the film. Walt is saved from the guilt of murder and
broken relationships. Ultimately, Walt finds peace with himself, with others and with God. Walt s
young neighbour Thao is rescued from a future of crime and violence, and the shame of attempted
theft. Ultimately, Thao gains a future as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Kennedy the construction supervisor asks Walt when he can have the keys to his
Gran Torino, and looks down on Thao for getting a lift. Without a car, Thao is dependent and still a
boy. When Walt lends him the Gran Torino to take Youa on a date, he is giving Thao independence
and the possibility of a girlfriend. Furthermore, the Gran Torino represents being a genuine
American man. Walt built the car when he worked for Ford, and despises the Jap burners that his
son Mitch drives around in and sells. Likewise, Spider (an anti citizen ) drives a white Honda in
every scene he appears in, except the last one. When Walt leaves the Gran Torino to Thao in his
will, he is giving him more than a car. He is giving him a reward for work, a source of prestige,
independence, and an American identity. The closing scene of the film shows Thao driving the car
down an esplanade, a young man with a future, and hope.
To Walt, the reason he got his medal of valour wasn t for a good reason. It was because he shot a
Korean. After the war, Walts was left broken and scarred and especially after Dorothys death,
Walt had many issues he needed to solve. Fr suggested he should do a confession and that it
would help to heal him. You never really hear about the medal much but at the end of the film

Reflection On Volunteering At Ruth Fyfe Elementary School
For my community service project I will be volunteering at Ruth Fyfe Elementary School. After
contacting the school s administration I was assigned to 3 different classes. My first challenge
was to work with 3rd graders, in my first assigned class, and help them with their multiplication. I
also had to help two other different 4th grade classes. I had to be extremely outgoing for
students to listen. I was a personal tutor for mere minutes because there were many students to
give my attention to. Ruth Fyfe is an elementary on W Bonanza Rd, pretty much on the other
side of town. In my assigned 3rd grade class I didn t exactly participate with every student
equally. I felt a bit biased towards some of the students because some students cared more than
others. I loved how some students were mentally engaged. I talked to all of the kids, however, I
mainly helped those who actually showed effort even if they were incorrect. The 4th grade class
was slightly more advanced but not too much of a difference in regards to maturity. I was
assigned two 4th grade classes for a total of 4 hours (2 hours each). The 4th graders were more
literate, however they still struggled. I tried my best to help them with their reading, but I can only
help to an extent because I have a problem with reading fast as well. In Parental... Show more

Research has backed up the fact that parental involvement in schools immensely increases
student performance. When I went to volunteer, I was a role model. The teachers had used me
as an example of a successful student who made his way into college. These children are young
and it s good for them to be exposed to successful people. Successful meaning the person has
made it to college. In the 4th grade class, college was a huge focal point (well while I was there
anyways). Students can use me as a template for success. Overall, schools would see an increase in

Thrombus Symbolism
Thrombus can be defined as the aggregation of thrombocytes, fibrin, and RBCs that attaches to the
interior wall of a vessel, Thrombus aetiologies are listed in Virchow s triad which include,
hypercoagulability (thrombophilia), endothelial cell injury, and disturbed blood flow (stasis)..
Thrombosis in the arteries cause stroke or myocardial infarction, in veins it manifests as either
deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE), DVT is usually situated in the deep
veins of the leg. Meanwhile PE is defined as thrombus breaking off the endothelium and travelling

Tang Dynasty Essay
Throughout this course, one learns about the development of Chinese society and economy. As
most economies and societies do, it grows and decreases. New practices are created, new
policies are proposed, and so on. One of the most common ways to look at the history of China is
to look at the different dynasties. This essay will use the different dynasties in a chronical order to
show how the economy of Chinagrew, fell and, at one point, stagnated. The different dynasties is
the Tang, Song, Ming and Qing. During this time, the Mongols also invaded China and it is very
important to consider this as well as such a major change would have effects on society. This essay

Comparison Of Angelas Ashes And Angela s Ashes
Finally, both novels display the effects of living in these situations as well as the similar methods
in which people cope with the hardships in life. Alcoholism affects characters in both novels,
specifically Frank McCourt s father, Malachy, and Dickens tragic hero, Sydney Carton. In Angela s
Ashes, one of the constant sources of their misfortunes is Malachy McCourt. Though he cares for
his family, as evident in his strong relationship with his sons and love for their mother, he
continuously drinks away the family s money for food and other basic necessities for life,
spending long nights at pubs and coming home in the early morning. One night, Angela is fed
up and orders Frank to go find his father at the pub and tell everyone, your father is drinking the
money for the baby... there isn t a scrap of food in this house, not a lump of coal to start the fire,
not a drop of milk for the baby s bottle (McCourt 183 184). At this point, Malachy s drinking is
worsening and causing a great strain on the family, money wise as well as emotionally. Malachy
is unable to change for his family as the alcohol has already taken over his life and he relies on it to
cope, for example when his infant daughter passes away. In A Tale of Two Cities
, Sydney Carton is
also reliant on alcohol and spends a lot of time drunk, though he does not have a family or anyone
to take care of. He drinks because he feels as though his life is already wasted and he loathes
himself for it. One night, he

The House Of The Scorpion
A utopia is an imagined or fantasied place that is flawless. The expectation for a utopia is to be
perfect. Everyone has their own perfect imagined place that they want to live in. The truth is, not
every utopia is perfect. Many utopias have dangers, bad people, and a lot of the time people don t
agree with the utopia. The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, Zootopia by Phil Johnson and
Jared Bush, The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell, Animal Farm by George Orwell, and
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson are great examples of utopias that aren t perfect.
Utopias can be very dangerous. For example, in the book The House of the Scorpion by Nancy

Utopia Argumentative Essay
D Block
Every family draws a ticket out of a black box. If you get the ticket with the black dot then you
are stoned to death by the other families in the village. They do this because the town s
population is way too big. Mrs. Hutchinson drew the ticket with the black dot on it. She even
said, It isn t fair, it isn t right. She was very frightened but didn t know what to do. She didn t
agree with what was about to happen. The leader Mr. Summers was the only person not to get a
ticket because he was the leader.
This shows that not everyone agrees with utopias. In conclusion, all of my evidence shows that
utopias aren t perfect. As I stated in my introduction, utopias have many bad people, dangers, and
not a lot of people agree with a perfect utopia. Sir
Thomas More was the first person to create a utopia in 1516. Utopia is from a Greek ou topos

Agricultural Biotechnology Essay
Agricultural Biotechnology Due to the greater understanding of DNA, the field of Agricultural
Biotechnology has developed rapidly over the last 30 years. Agricultural Biotechnology is a set
of tools to modify products, improve plants and animals, and make microorganism for
agricultural uses. It s being used to produce products cheaper and easy to maintain. More and
more farmers and producers used genetic engineered crops because of the price and resistances to
insects and diseases. The main aim is to meet human and environmental needs. Biotechnology is a
set of tools that uses living organisms to produce or modify a product, improve plants or animals,
or develop microorganisms for specific uses. The latest set of tool some say greatest is genetic
engineering. It allows the transfer of useful characteristics into a plant, animal, or microorganism by
inserting genes from another organism. Genetic engineering which uses molecular markers to
select plants or animals that give a desirable gene, allows segments of DNAthat code genes for a
specific trait to be recombined into a new. Desirable traits producers choose is short growing
seasons, increased resistance to diseases and pests, larger seeds and fruits, nutrition, and better
adaption to environmental conditions. An example is the International Institute of Tropical
Agricultural has used molecular markers to obtain cowpea resistance to bruchid (a beetle). That s
one type of genetic modification.

A New Kind of Science
Professor Neil Leach
October 29, 2016 Chapters 11 and 12 (pages 637 to 844)
In this book, Stephen Wolfram develops A New Kind of Science that allows progress to be made
in cases where traditional science cannot analyze complex behaviors. In his proposal for this new
kind of science one of the things he addresses is the notion of computation, where computation is
the evolution of a system. In this book, Wolfram has mentioned and referred to systems such as
cellular automata as a simple computer program , but his overall goal is to show these systems in
terms of the computations that can perform complex shapes with a simple set of rules. In other
words, these systems can be viewed as performing a computation that determines what its future
behavior will be. The interesting thing is that cellular automata has terms of traditional
mathematical notions to describe certain computations. Stephen reintroduces these mathematical
notions by replacing them with squares (cells) that are either black or white, and when grouped,
these cells create a block. Once multiple blocks are created, they are described as rules that
enhances a command. For example, the rule 94 highlights even numbers. Rule 62 corresponds to
multiples of 3, rule 190 to multiples of 4 and rule 129 highlights powers of 2.
Now, there are computations that are more complex that do not correspond to any simple
description found in traditional

Grieving for Children and Adults
Grief can t be shared. Everyone carries it alone. His own burden in his own way (Lindbergh).
Grieving the loss of a loved one can be the most emotionally draining time of any human being s
life. Not only is this a time for saying good bye to the ones we hold dear in our hearts, but it is
also a time for change, change that is not seen as pleasant or embraced. This change is continuing
on in life without the ones we have lost. For the majority, this experience is difficult but most have
the support and love of family to make it through, but for others, this can be a lonesome and maybe
even an impossible task. This experience will affect a person both emotionally and physically, but it
is important to learn how to cope with the pain,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But if a child does wish to participate, it is helpful to them in getting closure. During grieving
children will feel the same pain, confusion, and fear just as any adult will. Family and those that
are close to the deceased are not the only ones who feel anguish. They aid in grief counseling and
handling the departed. Funeral directors may help a family deal with a loss through grief
counseling themselves or refer families to a grief therapist. Either way, a huge part of a funeral
director s job is to show compassion and empathy towards families during this difficult time. It is
a fine line when dealing with emotions while being a mortician or a funeral director. They have to
show sympathy and support to the family, but they cannot let their emotions get in the way of their
work because they still have a job to do. Morticians or embalmers might not deal with loved ones
of the deceased directly, but they also are affected. Witnessing tragedy after tragedy and attending
countless funerals can take a toll on any mortician s mental and emotional health. A mortician s
degree of sympathy may also vary depending on the circumstances of the death. Andrew Weeks, a
director of his own funeral says I hate senseless death. Old people are expected to die, children are
not (Weeks). While death is upsetting in any situation, a mortician might feel more saddened by the
death of a younger person, such as a

Araby
Joyce s Araby begins as a story about a young boy and his first love, his neighbor referred to in the
story as Mangan s sister. However, the young boy soon turns his innocent love and curiosity into a
much more intense desire, transforming this female and his journey to the bazaar into something
much more intense and lustful. From the beginning, Joyce paints a picture of the neighborhood in
which the boy lives as very dark and cold. Even the roomswithin his house are described as
unfriendly, quot;Air, musty from having long been enclosed, hung in all the rooms, and the waste
room behind the kitchen was littered with old and useless papers. The young boysees all of this

Attending the bazaar and getting her a gift is simply an extension of his obsession and desire for
this girl. Now, he has something specific to focus on and look to in their relationship. Immediately
after he tells her how he will buy her a gift, his thoughts turn to What innumerable follies laid
waste my waking and sleeping thoughts after the evening! I wished to annihilate the tedious
intervening days. I chafed against work of school. Again, the boy has no focus or use for anything
else going on in his life other than being involved with his love.
In comparing this to Susan Minot s Lust, we see many similarities in that both main characters
of the stories have desire and intense wanting, but they are different in form. Minot uses many
small, short encounters and stories to portray the main character s life and emotions. Similar to
Araby, the settings and atmosphere in which the young girl s life takes place is very negative
and unfriendly. Just from the first paragraph describing one of her boys, In his illegal car we
drove to the reservoir, radio blaring, talking fast, fast, fast. He got kicked out sophomore year,
we see that the people she is associating with and the settings are not very positive. Similar
Mangan s sister in Araby, the only positive light and desire the main character has are interactions
with boys and boyfriends, but all seem to only last for a very brief time. The girl s desire is more
mature and sexually

Guys Like Gauguin

followed by a sarcastic thanks Bougainville without capitalising the thanks. Together the techniques
of anaphora and informal language create a compounding effect, by referring to these colonisers
and the direct address towards Gauguin diminishing his achievements and many other celebrated
European discovers who have exploited foreign countries through invasion. marsh being a tuvaluan

These two combined techniques adds to the effect of how women from Tahiti are being over
sexuilised and made out to be animalistic throughout the whole poem in order to give the reader
an overall theme of exploitation of women. Marsh makes ironic use of positive connotations
such as delectably when describing the breasts of the Tahitian girls to heighten the erotic
pleasure these men find in these young girls. However the most unnerving line is when she uses
a simile in ripen like paw paw to add to the already unpleasant objectification of young women as
sexual objects through the metaphor of fruit which are best slightly raw very tempting to them.
Marsh uses this to show how sexually driven these european colonists such as gauguin where to
these polynesian women. It also sets the ideas of how these women women were desirable from
a young age and Gauguin states that for his reasoning behind sleeping with all of these women,
as if it was not his fault. This leads me to believe that Gauguin only sees these women as objects,
not as people, which is an indication in a lot of his artwork. We can also see how in this
patriarchal world, men are able to act out their desires without considering the scale of
destruction they unleash on women or heritage cultures. Audre lorde expresses a similar
sentiment in her speech The master s tools will never dismantle the master s house(1979) where
she is telling us to reclaim reclaim our stolen tools, and to not cower in fear of the master. But
instead to stand up and break the false Consensus that limits our options. This showed how
difficult it was for these polynesian women to stand alone in a period where women were being
treated unfairly. The master s tools were in lords vision the inability to see or act beyond the

The Effects Of Video Games On The Game
Fallout 3 is an adventure game not like any other game that is out there. The music in the game

The feeling of this game is like nothing any gamer may have come across before. A new breed of
roll playing and adventure gamehas been born with the relese of Fallout 3. The music in the game
is very interesting, it has a calm yet powerful feel to it. It gives the playera feeling of empowerment.
Just sitting in the menu screen and listening to it will give the player an amazing feeling that this
is going to be a game with lots of twists and turns to it. Music in the game can change in any
moment from peaceful to a more dramatic feel. For example one may be enjoying the view with
a simple ambient music playing, but then in an instant the music can change dramatically as an
enemy gets close to the gamer. Just listening to the music in the game is a whole story by itself.
The gamer may turn on a radio at a bar or on the personal radio called the pipboy that is attached
onto the gamer s character s left arm. Music from the early 1950s to the 1960s plays on the radio
and gives you a blast from the past type of feeling. Every song or music the gamer hears has that
perfect feeling of where they are in the game. Within the Washington D.C. capital the music has a

The Pros And Cons Of A Primary Election System
A primary election is where voters in each state votes for a presidential candidate by
political party. For instance, if you are a registered Democrat within your county, then you only
vote for one democrat candidate in the primary. According the Greenberg book, the primary
system is a related trend has involved more direct elections of government officials, replacing
the old indirect methods (Greenberg 2014, pg. 286). This system is still used today to create a
direct approach to determine which candidate from each party officially won in one state, in
which a state that pledge to a specific candidate from each political party. For example, one

But in today s system, there is such thing a party caucuses , or
selection of delegates to national party conventions by city or countywide meetings by party

Lee 2 feature. So do we think that it is a good system? Because most politicians usually never listen
and
continuously debating, thus creating delays for a solution, I basically have no opinion on that.
However, June primaries are official elimination round, in which one candidate from each party
will run for the November election, so I think that the primary system breaks down to several
candidates into one for each party. Ultimately, the primary system is to create a two party
election, whether it is countywide, statewide, or nationwide, created a major success in the
struggle for democracy (Greenberg 2014, pg. 287). Problems do remain at the polls and also
while processing votes in the county seat, in which can create unexpected official

Similarities Between Deucalion And Lycaon
In a Greek version Deucalion is warned of the flood. He builds an ark and stuffs it with
creatures. Deucalion also sends a pigeon to search for land, and the bird returns with an olive
branch. When he completes the voyage he gives thanks, and takes advice from the gods on how
to repopulate the Earth. In a more colorful version, Zeus was angered by the extreme pride of the
Pelasgians , the indigenous inhabitants of the Aegean Sea region, so he decided to punish them.
Lycaon was the king of Arcadia, which was a part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It was an
unspoiled, harmonious wilderness, thought to be the home of Pan. To punish Zeus for his
oppression, Lycaon offered a blood sacrifice. Arcas, a son of Zeus, was placed upon the burning

How to properly build a character in Trove
Have you ever asked a player on Trove what their power rank is and was astonished by their
answer? Then this is how they got where they are and what you will need to get your character or
character up to the desired level.
The first thing you need to do when it comes to becoming a top Trovain player is to look at what
gives the power to you as the player. There are three big things that make up your characters. The
first one is the level of the character. Having a max level thirty character is one of the first things
you need. The second is to keep your eye on your mastery, each level you add to your mastery you

Another key factor you will notice as you are leveling up your character is you are unlocking
gem slots. This is key to the power rank portion of Trove, and that s why you need to be level 30
because by doing so you will have unlocked all gem slots and allow you to insert the maximum
number of gems onto that character.
After talking about leveling and gems a little I will go in a little deeper in the matter. To make
sure you can get into the desired portals as you level. Your face, hat, and weapon you should be
changing out with the items you pick up from dungeons if it will give you more power rank.
Your end gear type will be called Stellar gear but you will end up having to buy that from another
player using the in game currency but that will be needed later. So, in the mean time you will
focus on what gear you can find at the end of dungeons. This is also applied to the gems you will
get from opening the gem boxes you receive for completing dungeons. You wantto equip the
highest power ranked gem which is commonly received after opening seventy gem boxes.
The prime goal of you leveling and stick on gear is to reach ten thousand power rank and be
level thirty. You should be able to do such by leveling the radiant gems up to level fifteen that you
will find in Uber eight world. Once you get into Uber nine world with your ten thousand power
rank then you will need to change your game play a little on what gems you will equip

Essay on La Cosa Nostra
La Cosa Nostra Perhaps one of the most poignant moments in American cinema is the closing

this organized crime, one must begin to understand how it came to be organized in the first place.

Unemployment And Its Effects On Society
Problem Statement Unemployment is a very important problem that it is not only an economic
issue, but it is related to the social and political issues. Increasing the level of unemployment will
decrease the level of Keynes effective demand that is going to increase the investors uncertainty and
less investments will take place. As a result, the economy as a whole will move from recession to
depression and the unemployment is dramatically increasing. On the other hand, unemployment has
a direct impact on society in a variety of negative ways. A lot of studies found that the level of
crimes and drug users is high among unemployment citizens. The unemployed may consider crime
as an alternative path to earn money. Finally, the high level of unemployment, in most cases, could
lead to instability in the political system due to protest against the existing political system. In
conclusion, unemployment is a complex issue that needs a lot of work to solve it. The full
employment economic society is a precondition behind economic stabilization and prosperity. This
dissertation takes the position that relying on the private sector to solve the problem of
unemployment is historically not possible. Therefore, the government intervention towards solving
the problem of unemployment is necessary. The government s responsibility is filling the gap of
unemployment by investing in projects that are usually not handled by the private sector due to
small margin of profit and high level of

Balance Sheet and Mr. Wiles
Background:
Miniscribe was founded in the 1980s when the personal computer was on the rise. It had great
potential during this period and large growth capacity. During the first years the company grew fast
and furious. By 1983 it has outgrown its ability to remain private and needed the public investment
to continue to grow its operations and gain greater equity. In 1983 the company went public for
$11.50 a share. As soon as it went public, new entrants into the market and the decline in consumer
demand for personal computers had caused the market to decline. Miniscribe was on the verge of
going down with many other companies that could not make it through the economic slump.

Inventory becomes obsolete quickly thus having inventory that cannot be sold. Inventory could be
overstated also if it has become impaired. Increase in property plant and equipment for a growing
company is normal but for one that should be past it rapid growth it may not be a good idea.
Inventory turnover is decreasing over time confirming inventory is becoming harder to sell or they
are producing too much in a market that is not purchasing it quickly.
Property, Plant and Equipment in a growing firm is expected to be increasing. Property plant in
equipment is increasing but the turnover or the rate at which the assets are being used are
decreasing.
Accounts payable is increasing every year with a substantial growth in 1988 which may be due
to a large amount of unpaid balances that will reduce assets. Accrued expenses increased
dramatically in 1988. The long term debt was manageable in 1985 and 1986 but in 1987
quadruples. Being leveraged is good to some extent such as in 1985 and 1986 but in 1987 and 1988
it becomes being too leveraged.
In 1987 and 1988 the long term debt increased dramatically possibly due to increased loans to
manage cash flows. See Capital Structure and Solvency graph and ratios below. Total debt to

Alcohol and Drugs are Passed from Parents to Children
Children are introduced to drugs and alcohol at a very young age. Many of them see alcohol and
drugs in their homes, used by their parents on daily bases. Some of these children don t even
realize that it is wrong, not normal , and not accepted in other homes until they are old enough to
understand that situation in their home is a problem and that it is wrong. Minors usually begin
using alcoholat around age 13. Statistics show that by the time they are high school sinners, 81
percent of teens have used alcohol. Alcohol consumption and alcohol abuse are more widespread
among young people than many adults realize.
According to Webster s New World Medical Dictionary, 3rd Edition, Addictionis a chronic
relapsing condition characterized by compulsive drug seeking and abuse and by long lasting
chemical changes in the brain. Addiction is the same irrespective of whether the drug is alcohol,
amphetamines, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, or nicotine. Every addictive substance induces pleasant
states or relieves distress. Continue use of addictive substances induces adaptive changes in the
brain that lead to tolerance, physical dependence, uncontrollable craving and, all too often, relapse.
Dependence is at such a point that stopping is very difficult and causes severe physical and mental
damage from withdrawal (WILLIAM C. SHIEL JR., 2008).
Over the past two decades, many researchers have identified subgroups of alcohol and drug user
based in similarities like drinking style

Cross Platform Authentication Pairing Codes
Cross Platform Authentication Pairing Codes.
1. Main Factors
Text passwords are nowadays the main way to authenticate users in web environments that require
privacy and security.
There are multiple authentication methods that required the use of a code to grant access to the
user to different kind of private information. This code could be a single letter and combination, or
more advanced authentication methods such biometric authentication.
Nowadays, in the context of having access to multiple websites with sensitive information
registered by the user, the use of passwords as a validation method is the most frequent. Studies
have shown that an average user uses 6.5 passwords, each of which is shared in almost four
different websites. Each user has about 25 accounts on the internet that require passwords, and
finally, types an average of eight passwords per day. (cite_Florencio).
The complexity of the passwords (due security requirements) has been increased, adding elements
and characters to the password composition. Users nowadays are asked to create combinations
using a specific character with a minimum of components to create a valid password. An
overwhelming number of users choose passwords that contain lower case characters only. This
behaviour exposes the combination to be extremely easy to break in a brute force attack.
(cite_Adams).
The response has been adding more complexity to the possible combinations (different order for the
same objects) using available

Orangutans
Orangutans
Tim Sanderson
Anth 111
In Malay orang means person and utan is defined as forest . Thus
Orangutan literally means Person of the Forest . Orangutans are found in the tropical forests of
Sumatra and Borneo. They are the most arboreal of the great apes and move amongst the safety of
the trees from one feeding site to the next.
They are so well adapted to arboreal life that they cannot place their feet on the ground, instead they
walk on the outside of their curved foot. There is a scattered population of orangutan in Indonesian
Borneo,
Malaysia Borneo and northern Sumatra. The different habitats have isolated the orangutan
reproductively and geographically from one another creating a degree of difference or two ... Show

The long call of the Borneo male is long and drawn out where as the Sumatran is much shorter and
has a faster tempo. The difference may be attributed to the larger throat pouch the
Borneo has. The reason for the different calls is unclear. They may be related to the terrain each
subspecies inhabits. The faster call of the Sumatran may be more effective in the rugged,
mountainous terrain. The longer call of the
Borneo may be due to the wide distribution of this race. A large portion of an orangutans day is
spent looking for and consuming food. Their diet primarily consists of fruit but they also eat
leaves, bark, flowers, insects, and birds eggs. One of their preferred foods is the fruit off of the
durian tree, it is supposed to taste like sweet garlic. After they have finished eating and bedtime
comes around the orangutans build themselves a new nest forty to fifty feet up in a tree made of
boughs. Like the other great apes (chimpanzees and gorillas), orangutans are highly intelligent.
Tests have indicated that their intelligence is relatively similar. Wild orangutans use their
intelligence to solve problems usually related to arboreal living and food gathering. In captivity,
however, they have been trained to perform tricks and to use sign language. They have also made
tools to throw at humans, get food, and gain leverage.

Thesis Statement For Plastic Pollution
Plastic Pollution Outline
Thesis Statement: Plastic pollution is an ongoing issue that is quickly growing as time passes by,
and if humans don t try to put an end to it, it will affect them in the long term. It is a serious issue
that needs to be addressed because it is affecting humans, animals, and the environment.
Plastic pollution affects humans even if they don t realize it.
Plastic pollution harms people s endocrine system.
Chemicals like BPA and phthalates causes development problems.
Other diseases have chemical connections to plastic.
Women are affected more by plastic pollution.

Unfortunately, most of mankind decides to run away from the problem instead of facing the
difficult truth. Because of their reckless actions, many animals are suffering when they should not
have to. As a matter of fact, plastic pollution kills millions of birds, fish, and 100,000 sea turtles
every year (D., G.). With the increasing amount of this plastic trash, the death toll of these animals
will continue to rise and will not fall until humans decide to take action. While many of these
animals are dying because they do not know any better, that still doesn t mean humans should still
turn away from the problem. Simple things like plastic rings, fishing nets, and fishing line snare
and drown thousands of seals, sea lions, and dolphins each year, and while humans don t notice, it
seriously affects these marine animals (Hayden). Even though animals don t die when they first
ingest plastic, it makes it harder for them to consume other food that they need. In actuality,
scientists found that, Once plastics have been consumed, laboratory tests show that chemical
additives and adsorbed pollutants and metals on their surface can desorb (leach out) and transfer
into the guts and tissues of marine organisms (Seltenrich). This just makes it harder for animals to
eat, especially for the animals who need to feed their babies. Some of these animals starve to death;
other ones that are nursing babies transfer

Advertising Is A Major Part Of Our Culture
Advertising is a major part of our culture/society; it surrounds us wherever we go. Yet a lot of
people don t realize the underlying messages, and the stark differences between ads aimed at men
and women. It s most certainly different when compared to the ads from the
1950 s, however when we think about how far we ve come as a society it s astounding that
advertisers still play towards these generalizations/misconceptions about gender roles. In some
cases they re reversing the roles to be inclusive and following the current trends, but at the same
time there are ads that promote those same stereotypes that have been around for decades.
They tell us as a society that no matter what form they come in, stereotypes will always be

Of course the same company makes lotion ads for women as well. This ad showcases a woman
getting dressed, presumably after putting lotion on, her eyes looking off at something/someone
in the distance. It could have just shown her putting lotion on her legs, but it has to show her in
her bra and underwear to say that women put lotion all over their bodies. It doesn t have to be
hard work to maintain soft skin, but it should be maintained at all times, even when clothes are
being put on, just in case they re going to be taken off later. Some psychologists say that the
circuit from eyes to brain to genitals is a quicker trip for men than for women (187). If that s
true then why is a woman s lotion ad displaying a woman in her undergarments? Perhaps in some
way it s telling men to buy their partner this lotion because she ll have to be nearly naked to put it
on. Even when an ad is geared towards women, it still plays on the needs/desires of men. As John
Berger states; Men act and women appear (208). That is the case in most ads, but in each ad the
man and woman are in a state of movement, however there are major differences. This Nivea ad
for men, and several others, only shows the face as if that s the only place that they need to put
lotion. Whereas the ad geared towards women shows her in a state of getting dressed (in all white

Vladimir Tatlin and Naum Gabo Modern Art Essay
This paper will explore Vladimir Tatlin and Naum Gabo differences on the role of the Avant

Russian design Vladimir Tatlin is a representative of Russian Realism. He left home when he was
fifteen and served on the shipboard. When he became a painter, he often represented sailors in his

reality. Art is a combination of ideas about reality caught in motion. In such a way, it is possible to

Gabo
Their beliefs influence the kind of work they produced because their work are both abstract but
driven different conceptually. Their work exuded formal simplicity possessing two essential
characteristics: simplicity of forms and restricted use of the color. Vladimir Tatlin, had studied with
Larionov, visited Paris in 1912. There the Cubism suggested the idea to build models in relief, and
was dedicated, from then, to carry out constructions of glass, metal and wood. Exploring the

lines with the ones that openings are surrounded with the purpose to examine the possibilities of
articulation of the plans between itself and with the real space that contains them.
Toward 1913, these were completely abstract and they were going to be the base of another
movement, constructivism to which Pevsner and Gabo would later unite. The constructivists thought
that the artists should try constantly to discover and to utilize new forms, since the same life
constantly is changing and being renewed. They thought that what is important was not

Tanks
Jack Elmes
How did tank innovation impact warfare and the soldiers who fought in the trenches during World
War One?
World War One was known as the First World War or The Great War. It began on the 28th of July
1914 and lasted until the 11th of November 1918. Thirty countries were involved in the war. Over
nine million soldiers died and twenty one million were wounded. Undeniably World War One was
one of the biggest and most devastating wars in history. Trench warfaretook those who signed up
by complete surprise. A war that was intended to be all about movement became stagnant. Soldiers
were very much stuck in the trenches and experienced horrendous conditions. As a result the use of
terrifying new technologies not used before were created in a response to the conditions of trench
warfare. This resulted in trench warfare being changed forever due to the introduction of the tank in
1915.
It has been stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tank was the first armored machine to be used. It was adapted from tractors and its goal was
to break through the heavily fortified trenches and offer protection to the troops from any
artillery fire. British engineering was the origin of the first WW1 Landship , which became the
tank as we now know it. Tanks were a very important part of WW1 as they increased mobility on
the front line and broke the stalemate of trench warfare. The first tank ever used in military
conflict was at the battle of Flers Courcelette in September 1916. The first prototype tank came
out in 1915 by the British it was called little Willie, weighed 14 tons and could only travel at two
miles per hour. This tank was not used in warfare. Big Bertha was the most famous tank it had a
48 ton gun capable of firing a shell over 9 miles. It took 200 men several hours to assemble the gun.

  • 2. The Role Of Inefficiency Of Medical Care Discussion Case #1 Raymond, a 78 year old man living in a motel, is found by the housekeeper lying on the floor of his room, semiconscious. The motel manager calls 911, and Raymond is taken to the closest emergency room, where he lies on a gurney in the hallway for 6 hours before a physician examines him. Because it is unclear what is wrong with him and he cannot speak coherently, the physician admits him to the hospital for observation. Later, when it is determined that he had suffered a stroke; he is discharged to an inpatient rehabilitation facility that has no knowledge of his medical history including his current medications for hypertension and high cholesterol. He dies there several weeks later. 1. Identify the source(s) of inefficiency of medical care. The first source of inefficiency in this case is that the patient was admitted to observation. The patient would be on Medicare and if he is admitted to observation, then to a rehabilitation center it will cost more. The patient should have been admitted to the hospital first as an inpatient, preferably in the ICU, because the patient was unable to communicate (Barry, 2012). When the condition of stroke was determined the patient needs to stay in the ICU, until stable, before going to a rehabilitation center. Rehabilitation will not do any good until the patient is well enough to be able to rehabilitate. If the patient is not stable enough, to be moved then this would cause a readmission, which would cost more money. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Speed Control of Stepper Motor Using 8051 Microcontroller cc o s ts u c t uoc t i o n onn rt r i n stEPPEr Motor controL usinG 89c51 MicrocontroLLEr Mandeep Singh Walia H ere s a stepper motor controller based on 89C51 microcontroller to control the rotation of a DC stepper motor in clockwise and anti clockwise directions. The controller is simple and easy to construct, and can be used in many applications including machine control and robotics for controlling the axial rotation in XY plane. A similar circuit can be added to control the rotation of the motor in either XZ or YZ plane. Fig. 1 shows the block diagram of the stepper motor control system. The power supply section (in Fig. 2) consists of a stepdown transformer (7.5V AC, 1A), bridge rectifier (comprising diodes D1 through D4), filter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clock and reset circuit. Two 33pF capacitors (C4 and C5) are connected to pins 18 and 19 of the microcontroller, respectively, with an 11.059MHz piezoelectric crystal (XTAL1) across them. The construction clock frequency of the microcontroller depends on the frequency of the crystal oscillator used. Typically, the maximum and minimum frequencies are 1 MHz and 16 MHz, respectively, so we should use a piezoelectric crystal with a frequency in this range. The speed of the stepper motor is proportional to the frequency of the input pulses or it is inversely proportional to the time delay between pulses, which can be achieved through software by making use of instruction execution time. The time taken by any instruction to get executed can be computed as follows: CГ—12 Time= F where C is the number of cycles an instruction takes to execute and F is the crystal frequency. The crystal frequency in this circuit is 11.059 MHz, so the time taken to execute, say, ADD A, R1 (single cycle instruction), is about one microsecond (Вµs). Use of a 6MHz crystal will bring down the instruction execution speed to to 2 Вµs. When power is applied, the reset input must first go high and then low. A resistorcapacitor combination (R1 C3) is used to achieve this until the capacitor begins to charge. At a threshold of about 2.5V, the reset input reaches a low level and the microcontroller begins to function normally. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Does Pip Change Throughout The Novel Change is a constant presence everyday and everywhere. Time goes by and everything changes to what it was to what it is. Mountains turn to pebbles. Nature changes to survive. People s experiences change them for the better or for the worse. From the beginning of Great Expectations to its end, all of Pip s experiences and hardships shape him from a little boy naive to the reality of the world to a man of virtue. In part one of Great Expectations, Pip is shown to be a naive child who leads a miserable existence, which is evident on the way he acts, the way he thinks, and the way he views the world around him. Pip uses really negative, bleak and dark words and phrases to describe the marshes, such as using long black horizontal line to describe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the third part of Great Expectations, Pip learns the meaning of loyalty from Magwitch and from Joe. When Magwitch introduces himself as Pip s benefactor, Pip is horrified, but Magwitch shows Pip the meaning of loyalty with his full belief that Pip would become a gentleman. It wasn t until Magwitch died that Pip understood what exactly loyalty was and that understanding made him realize just how horrible a person he had been to everybody around him, especially Joe and Biddy. When Pip becomes sick and Joe comes to London to care for him, Pip says, Oh, Joe, you break my heart! Look angry at me, Joe. Strike me, Joe. Tell me of my ingratitude. Don t be so good to me! (Dickens 493). The quote shows that Pip understands how arrogant and insulting he had been to Joe and Biddy all those years ago and just how loyal and kind Joe had been to him his entire life. Despite asking for punishment from Joe, Joe doesn t do anything but hug him out of joy and by doing so demonstrates his loyalty to Pip even more. Magwitch s and Joe s displays of loyalty to Pip push him to change one final time and he matures into a hard working and virtuous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Conception Of The Theory Of Psychological Altruism The theory of psychological egoism shows that, at the center of each willful human activity, there is the inspiration of self interest that we do things on the grounds that they profit us. It doesn t propose how to live, yet rather how individuals do really go about their lives, regularly. This theory is extremely controversial because of the ease it decreases all activities to egomaniacal thinking. Extracting from that perception, we can extend that all the great done by individuals is an outcome of egotistical intentions. The theory utterly denies both the present altruism, and the self less noble in individuals. Altruism is the bestowal of a profit by one individual to an additional in a caring manner. Such practices cost the individual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas Plante from Psychology Today he believes ethics and egoism go hand and hand (2011).When you consider ethics you likely think of individuals making the best decision to bring about a significant improvement and thinking liberally of the needs of others. Yet, when you break down why individuals settle on the moral choices that they do, more often than not, they are considering self interest (that is egoism) (Plante). How I see it, ethical and psychological egoism only have one substantial difference; which is a normative viewpoint and non normative. A normative view is likely to speak about what one should do. Normative theories try to suggest behavior and principles that advise what one should do in a certain situation. In contrast, a non normative view is one that makes claims only about how things are, rather than how they should be. Essentially, the difference is how it is vs. how it ought to ... Ivan intentionally made unlawful contact with Fred when he thrust his hands into Fred s pocket. It was apparent that although the contact was with his pants pocket rather than directly to the body, the contact did involve some element of forces and that the least touching of another in anger is battery . False imprisonment Ricardo v State Immigration Department [SID] False imprisonment is defined as intentional and unauthorised restraint or deprivation of a person s liberty. SID was intentionally wrongful used its authority to cause confinement on Ricardo s liberty. Although there has been no application of physical force, there was evidence of complete submission by Ricardo to the control of SID, which eventually satisfied the test drawn from the High Court s decision in Balmain New Ferry Co Ltd v Robertson. Through the presence of officers, it was apparent that if Ricardo refused to follow, he would be restrained by force. So the requirement of total restraint was abundantly satisfied. SID took the action without any requisite warrants or reasonable evidence; a tip off was not enough to satisfy, so an imprisonment was unlawful since the beginning as they barred exit. No minimum time limit is specified for constituting of the action on false imprisonment, therefore 20 minute of detention or even less than that would still constitute an action for false imprisonment. There will be no relevant defences since the action was unlawfully carried out, without any authorised license or statutory authority. So SID would be liable for false imprisonment; Ricardo can claim for nominal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Invasive Mycoses Research Paper Invasive Mycoses Fungi have emerged over the past several decades as major contributors to human disease.(1, 2) As populations of immunocompromised and/or hospitalized patients continue to increase, so will the incidence of invasive fungal infections. A recent study reported that fungemia in the United States increased by 207% between 1979 and 2000.(3) Moreover, as the populations at risk for fungal infection continue to expand, so will the spectrum of pathogens capable of infecting those individuals. Invasive mycoses may be categorized as i) opportunistic or ii) endemic. Endemic infections, which are generally confined to specific geographic regions, are most often acquired via inhalation of spores. Infective agents include, but are not limited to, Histoplasma capulsatum, Coccidioides immitis, and Blastomyces dermatitidis. These infections frequently mimic common pulmonary infections in initial stages and are therefore often misdiagnosed. Dissemination and advanced disease follow. Dormancy may also occur, with reactivation of infection years later. This leads to diagnosis in a geographic regions outside of the high risk area.(4, 5) Opportunistic ... Glass Menagerie Symbolism Essay In his drama, The Glass Menagerie, Tennessee Williams uses symbolism in order to develop multi faceted characters and to display the recurring themes of the play. These various symbols appear throughout the entire piece, and they are usually disguised as objects or imagery. They allow the reader to know the characters #8217; personalities, and their true inside characteristics. These symbols also add to the major themes, which develop as the play gains momentum. In the drama, symbols play the most important role. One of the most recurring symbols is the glass menagerie itself. Seeing how time has changed for Amanda from her youth to the time presented in the play, it is plain to understand why she would try to relive her past. Amanda wishes that her life would be as simple and enjoyable as it was when she was young. She also wants to create such a happy childhood for her two children. Amanda tries to force upon her views to Laura and Tom, and in turn wants to live in the past. • 11. Mayor Of Casterbridge Character Development Essay Personal growth is an essential element of human development and progress. However, even though there are countless opportunities for the characters in Thomas Hardy s novel, The Mayor of Casterbridge, to embrace and experience this necessary growth, there is an absence of such personal advancement and progress. Ultimately, the decisions and actions of Michael Henchard, Lucetta Le Sueur, Donald Farfrae, and Elizabeth Jane all demonstrate repetitive qualities and a lack of character development which either assist or hinder the justice and moral order of the characters fates. Throughout Hardy s plot driven novel, the true personalities of the characters shine forth based upon their responses to the obstacles that they face or the repercussions of their actions. Some of the characters such as Elizabeth Jane and Donald Farfrae stay true to their own morals and beliefs as a way to demonstrate their altruism. However, other characters such as Lucetta and Henchard stay consistent in their own lies in the hope of personal embetterment that only leads to destruction. Even though Henchard attempts to repent and move past his previous faults by refraining from alcohol for twenty one years after selling his wife Susan and child Elizabeth Jane, remarrying Susan after she returns to Casterbridge, and pursuing Lucetta after Susan dies to cover up their scandal together, Henchard lacks the dignity to move past the lies and the scandals of his past life. • 12. Organic Vs Non Organic Vineyards Organic vs Non Organic Vineyards There s many differences between organic vineyards and non organic vineyards. Organic vineyards, for instance, produce their wine by excluding the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. Non organic vineyards on the other hand, produce their wine by applying these products. Every year that goes by, our generation is becoming more advanced in the usage of organic products. Many things sold in groceries stores are now available organically, for instance fruits and other types of nourishments. The positives and negatives of non organic and organic vineyards both have good arguments but in my opinion organic vineyards tend to have more of a positive effect in our society. Whenever something is organic, everyone believes that it s healthy, but that is not the case, not all organic things are as healthy as they are portrayed to be. Some negatives of organic wine are that organic wine does not contain sulfite, which people claim it reduces its shelf life and in some cases changes its flavors ( Clearing up the Confusion about Organic Wine ). Organic wine also brings a much healthier option to the table; in recent years it has become more popular throughout the Napa Valley. A positive note about organic wine is that organic wine doesn t contain artificial chemical fertilizers which could possibly cause some long term side effects to the human body. Here we were born; here we wanted to live. We had tasted of its freedom and learned of its brave hopes for democracy. It was too late, much too late for us to turn back. (Sone 124). This statement is key to understanding much of the novel, Nisei Daughter, written by Monica Sone. From one perspective, this novel is an autobiographical account of a Japanese American girl and the ways in which she constructed her own self identity. However, if perceived solely as an autobiography, the major theme of this novel is overlooked. I think Monica Sone focuses on, and clearly shows, the tension that arose in the Japanese American community because they felt torn between two distinct cultures and amongst themselves. There was also much confusion in this pre World War II and during WWII era concerning the place of Japanese Americans in the United States. The Issei, or first generation of immigrants from Japan, were generally highly organized in their communities. They tended to stay in close connection with traditional Japanese culture. The Issei spoke their native language, practiced traditional Japanese customs, and formed church groups, and other social communities amongst themselves. Similarly, the Nisei, or second generation Japanese American, were also highly organized and formed strong ties amongst themselves separate from the Issei. The Nisei attended Japanese schools, which enhanced their use of the Japanese language, but more importantly, created a social network of peers. They participated in church programs, and sports teams together. One main difference between the Issei and Nisei was that the Nisei were considered Americans. They were born here and they held complete citizenship. This was not true for the Issei. Another factor that separated the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. How Energy Plays A Vital Role As A Catalyst For Economic... Introduction Energy plays a vital role as a catalyst for economic growth and high standard of living. It is a fundamental input for all sectors, fuelling transport and providing electricity to industry, commerce, and agriculture. Yet access to energy remains an elusive goal for approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide (International Energy Agency, 2009). Given energy s importance in promoting economic growth, governments tend to assist the energy industry through policies that support research and development, provide low interest loans, and deliver subsidies to producers and or consumers. The Global Subsidies Initiative estimated that global subsidies to fossil fuel producers were approximately $100 billion in 2009 (Global Subsidies Initiative, 2009). Coady et al. (2010) estimated that consumer subsidies for petroleum products amounted to $57 billion, globally, in 2003, $519 billion in 2008, and $136 billion in 2009. Subsidies often reduce production costs, make energy affordable to consumers, and encourage development of new supply sources. Policies involving subsidies often have intended goals to address market failures or respond to social and distributional objectives. According to Komives et al. (2007), government support in the form of a subsidy can be critical for ensuring access to modern energy services, including electricity for the poorest, thereby enhancing societal welfare. Comparison Of Angelas Ashes And Angela s Ashes Finally, both novels display the effects of living in these situations as well as the similar methods in which people cope with the hardships in life. Alcoholism affects characters in both novels, specifically Frank McCourt s father, Malachy, and Dickens tragic hero, Sydney Carton. In Angela s Ashes, one of the constant sources of their misfortunes is Malachy McCourt. Though he cares for his family, as evident in his strong relationship with his sons and love for their mother, he continuously drinks away the family s money for food and other basic necessities for life, spending long nights at pubs and coming home in the early morning. One night, Angela is fed up and orders Frank to go find his father at the pub and tell everyone, your father is drinking the money for the baby... there isn t a scrap of food in this house, not a lump of coal to start the fire, not a drop of milk for the baby s bottle (McCourt 183 184). At this point, Malachy s drinking is worsening and causing a great strain on the family, money wise as well as emotionally. Malachy is unable to change for his family as the alcohol has already taken over his life and he relies on it to cope, for example when his infant daughter passes away. In A Tale of Two Cities , Sydney Carton is also reliant on alcohol and spends a lot of time drunk, though he does not have a family or anyone to take care of. Agricultural Biotechnology is a set of tools to modify products, improve plants and animals, and make microorganism for agricultural uses. It s being used to produce products cheaper and easy to maintain. More and more farmers and producers used genetic engineered crops because of the price and resistances to insects and diseases. The main aim is to meet human and environmental needs. Biotechnology is a set of tools that uses living organisms to produce or modify a product, improve plants or animals, or develop microorganisms for specific uses. The latest set of tool some say greatest is genetic engineering. It allows the transfer of useful characteristics into a plant, animal, or microorganism by inserting genes from another organism. Genetic engineering which uses molecular markers to select plants or animals that give a desirable gene, allows segments of DNAthat code genes for a specific trait to be recombined into a new. Desirable traits producers choose is short growing seasons, increased resistance to diseases and pests, larger seeds and fruits, nutrition, and better adaption to environmental conditions. In his proposal for this new kind of science one of the things he addresses is the notion of computation, where computation is the evolution of a system. In this book, Wolfram has mentioned and referred to systems such as cellular automata as a simple computer program , but his overall goal is to show these systems in terms of the computations that can perform complex shapes with a simple set of rules. In other words, these systems can be viewed as performing a computation that determines what its future behavior will be. The interesting thing is that cellular automata has terms of traditional mathematical notions to describe certain computations. Stephen reintroduces these mathematical notions by replacing them with squares (cells) that are either black or white, and when grouped, these cells create a block. Once multiple blocks are created, they are described as rules that enhances a command. For example, the rule 94 highlights even numbers. Rule 62 corresponds to multiples of 3, rule 190 to multiples of 4 and rule 129 highlights powers of 2. Now, there are computations that are more complex that do not correspond to any simple description found in traditional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Increasing the level of unemployment will decrease the level of Keynes effective demand that is going to increase the investors uncertainty and less investments will take place. As a result, the economy as a whole will move from recession to depression and the unemployment is dramatically increasing. The unemployed may consider crime as an alternative path to earn money. Finally, the high level of unemployment, in most cases, could lead to instability in the political system due to protest against the existing political system. In conclusion, unemployment is a complex issue that needs a lot of work to solve it. The full employment economic society is a precondition behind economic stabilization and prosperity. This dissertation takes the position that relying on the private sector to solve the problem of unemployment is historically not possible. Main Factors Text passwords are nowadays the main way to authenticate users in web environments that require privacy and security. There are multiple authentication methods that required the use of a code to grant access to the user to different kind of private information. This code could be a single letter and combination, or more advanced authentication methods such biometric authentication. Nowadays, in the context of having access to multiple websites with sensitive information registered by the user, the use of passwords as a validation method is the most frequent. Studies have shown that an average user uses 6.5 passwords, each of which is shared in almost four different websites. Each user has about 25 accounts on the internet that require passwords, and finally, types an average of eight passwords per day. (cite_Florencio). The complexity of the passwords (due security requirements) has been increased, adding elements and characters to the password composition. Users nowadays are asked to create combinations using a specific character with a minimum of components to create a valid password. An overwhelming number of users choose passwords that contain lower case characters only. This behaviour exposes the combination to be extremely easy to break in a brute force attack. (cite_Adams). The long call of the Borneo male is long and drawn out where as the Sumatran is much shorter and has a faster tempo. The difference may be attributed to the larger throat pouch the Borneo has. The reason for the different calls is unclear. They may be related to the terrain each subspecies inhabits. The faster call of the Sumatran may be more effective in the rugged, mountainous terrain. The longer call of the Borneo may be due to the wide distribution of this race. A large portion of an orangutans day is spent looking for and consuming food. Their diet primarily consists of fruit but they also eat leaves, bark, flowers, insects, and birds eggs. One of their preferred foods is the fruit off of the durian tree, it is supposed to taste like sweet garlic. After they have finished eating and bedtime comes around the orangutans build themselves a new nest forty to fifty feet up in a tree made of boughs. Like the other great apes (chimpanzees and gorillas), orangutans are highly intelligent. Tests have indicated that their intelligence is relatively similar. Wild orangutans use their intelligence to solve problems usually related to arboreal living and food gathering. With the increasing amount of this plastic trash, the death toll of these animals will continue to rise and will not fall until humans decide to take action.
