A community is formed when more than two people share values and connections over time, developing rituals, traditions, and communication that distinguish them from others. Communities are defined by both internal forces like members and culture as well as external forces from governments and organizations. No two communities are exactly alike and communities evolve over time. The Old Order Amish Mennonite community exemplifies the interdependence of members, with the community providing identity, strength, and purpose for sustaining their way of life.
