Is a group of people in a large place,
sharing a common environment.
It involves the individual and the
family
WHAT IS COMMUNITY
Is the art and science of maintaining,
protecting and improving the health of all
members of the community through organized
and sustained community efforts.
WHAT IS COMMUNITY HEATH?
Consist of prevention or control of disease,
injury and disability associated with
interactions between people and their
environment.
Comprises those aspects of human health
that are determined by physical, chemical,
biological, social and psychosocial factors on
the surrounding environment
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
 All the physical, chemical and biological factors
external to a person and all those environment
factors that can potentially affect health.
 it is targeted towards preventing disease and
creating health supportive environments.
 This definition excludes behavior not related to
environment, as well as behavior related to the
social cultural environment and genetics
ACCORDING TO WORLD HEATH
ORGANIZATION
 The characteristics of a health community according to the world health
organization (2002) include:
 A clean and safe physical environment
 An environment that meets everyone's basic needs
 And environment that promotes social harmony and actively involves
everyone
 An understanding of local and environmental issues
 A community that participates in identifying local solutions to local
problems
 A community whose members have access to varied experiences, means of
interaction and communication
 Accessible and appropriate health services and facilities
 The promotion and celebration of historical and cultural heritage
 A diverse innovative economy
 A sustainable use of available resources for all
