Modern communication systems allow information to be transmitted from a source to a receiver over a channel. A source generates a signal that is sent to a transmitter which encodes and modulates the signal for transmission over the channel. The channel carries the transmitted signal to the receiver which demodulates and decodes the signal to reconstruct the original information from the source.
