DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE (TECHNIQUE / SKILL)
CONTROL & PASS --- 1 V1 (+1)
Players practice passing to a receiver. Receiver practices receiving in wide areas
Players practice open body – Side On technique to keep & transfer possession
ORGANISATION
Players play in a 15 x 12 metre grid
With two 5 metre end zones
1.Red player in end zone plays into
central red player – wide red starts in
centre and with good movement gets
wide
2. Yellow marks red – passive at first
– Active later
3.Zone Players change with Central
players after 45-60 secs
4. Wide player receives, controls
and passes to yellow zone player
5. After 3 practices – now yellows
KEY OBSERVATION
1. Starting Position – Good movement to get from central position to wide
2. Body Shape – get a SIDE ON shape before receiving – face whole pitch
3. Control, 1/2 turn – Control side on – open body position – furthest standing foot
4. Using Inside / Outside of foot – Decision making – Use Outside of near foot?
5. Create Space - with first or later touches
6. Head Up - See the end receiver – pass accurately into far player
NOTES
Coach good counter movement to create space and time to get a good angle to receive
Show open body position – head up to assess defenders position
