Final Blink Project
By: Jennifer Wall
2014, June
Before I
began class I wondered about what kind of reading I'd
be doing. I hoped it would be something interesting. I
was definitely hoping that it wouldn't be (at least not
yet) some boring long book that I wouldn't find
captivating at all. Boy was I relived when I discover
that Blink was a book about psychology. I find it to be
quite fascinating. Not enough to consider studing
psychology but enough that I wouldn't find this book
to be tedious. In fact Blink is a very thought provoking
book. It makes you wonder, and one of the things it
made me question is requarding what else can effect
our subconscious decision making and reactions ?
Without color we'd have no way to
guickly express importance.
Very little ways to show application for
something, some place or someone.
Our lives would be so bare without colors. Without them
our lives would
be extremely
dull and
boring. .
Imagine
the Sun
or a
rainbow
without
color or
firework
s
without
color.
However with color....
A world that is shaped with color
We become immersed into a world completely
changed.
An effect which has the power to change
everything.
There's also a thought that the colors you have on will effect the reception you recive from
others.
Its thought by some that the color you wear will dictate your mood
When we become exposed to colors physiological changes occur
within us.
The physiological effects color has on us can cause us to be sad, angry, mellow,
etc.
& they have the power to decive us..
Those changes are termed : chromodynamics.
80% of what we assimilate through our senses is visual.
Colors can stir up all kinds of
emotions.
Our lives become so much
more.
Seen with colors.
The color Orange is
considered to be a
color for friendship,
confidents and a
friendly color.
Red is equivalent to
excitement, boldness,
energy, war, danger,
strenght, rage, vigor,
power, determination,
passion, desire, and
love.
Blue is a low hue.
It's
chromodynamics
are attributed to
trust, strength,
dependable
Yellow is thought to be
arousing and is
associated with the
Sun. The
chromodynamics are
attributed to yellow
are joy, sickness,
spontaneous,
happiness, intelligent,
freshness, instability,
optimism, clarity,
warmth and energy.
Green is
contributed to
peace, health,
growth, harmony,
healing, safety,
greed,
cowardness,
hope,
inexperience,
and protection.
Purple is considered to be a low hue color.
Attributed to creativity, wisdom, and imagination.
White it thought
to envoke purity,
faith, innocence,
beginning, and
safety.
Black is known to
represent solemnity,
death, evil, elegance,
mystery & prestige.
My plan is to attempt to notice if there are changes in the attitudes
This experiment will take place over a 4 day period. On day one I
will be wearing red. Day two blue. Three green and four black.
Throughout the entire day I will be focusing on one thing and only
one thing - the vibes I receive from those around me. Do I feel
those signals are threatening ? Do I feel as if I'm being looked a
pond more so then I normally am. Did I feel as if people were
Standoffish or were they extremely friendly.
With any luck I'll be able to gather a log with enough clues that it will
make it easier for me to attempt to distinguish whether or not a
color has enough influence on those we come in contact with to
actually alter their responce twards us.
My Plan... To attempt to identify whether or not the colors
we wear have an effect on those whom we come
in close contact with.

I encountered while
wearing Red- I was
noticeably looked

times.
When in blue attitudes twards me seemed basically the same. I wasnt able to
distinguish any difference. Didnt feel anyone trusted me more then they normally
do. Didnt seem anyone was depending on me and no one asked me to show my
strength.
When I dressed as green as I could i feel like I received a number of stares & the overall
attitude from those I came in contact with was friendly. No one showed any signs of
greed. Didnt notice any one cowerding down to me. No one approached me for
protection and no one assumed I didn't know how to do something.
The day I wear Red it seemed like there was a couple instances where
someone signaled a desire or passion twards me, however none of them
were bold enough to approach me. No ones seemed to be overly exited or
deminstrated and rage my direction.
In black I pretty much received the same as I did wearing blue. No one
treated me as though I was evil or mysterious any more then normal.
Conclusion. .. How did it all go
?
I feel I wasn't all that
successfully at conducting this
experiment.
I found it difficult to
remember I was supposed to
be focusing on how other
were responding to me.
I think that in order to truly see the effects that color has on us we would
need to expose the subjects to a much larger dose of these colors.
My after thoughts to anyone out there
wondering if this possibility could actually be
possible I would suggest to you... ...
1st) That for this experiment to work there needs to be a least 2 individuals
conducting it. One who would wear the color and attempt to interact with
others and the other observing and logging.
2nd) I feel that in order to actually be able to say that the colors we are
wearing truly can effect those we come in contact with you would need to
conduct the experiment for longer then just one day. Instead I would suggest
observing each color for at least a week. That way you could create a log that
would display your identified responces. Then you could distinguished a
much clearer view that you could add up to notice if any of these affect
could possibly point specifically to color.
If it wasn't for the works of these
great creators I could have never
gotten this project accomplished
