introduce new services under social security, health, education, housing, employment and the
treatment of offenders. Rowntree did research into poverty and this influenced the Liberal

Arguably, two very impressive civilizations, Egypt and Sumer, took shape around the same time.
This proximity provided them with remarkable similarities, yet a copious amount of differences
still grew between the two areas. Largely due to their access to resources and environment, the
communities grew in very different manners, which led to differences in political development, as
well as their leaders, which in turn affected their overall success. In regards to Sumer, it flourished
in the area of Mesopotamia, or as the Greeks called it, the Land between Rivers (Cole, et al 7).
Specifically, these rivers were the Tigris and Euphrates. Despite being surrounded by waterways,
Sumer existed in an extremely arid climate, which left the soil sandy and summer weather

Listening to four women peacemakers, rather peacebuilders, from different countries, cultures and
contexts has broadened and, at the same time, challenged my understanding of gender dynamics in
conflict context. This reflection essay aims to discuss how these presentations deepened and
complicated my understanding of gender. It will mainly focus on Kurshid s presentations of violent
extremism in Pakistan. However, I will also use part of Fatma s presentation on Western Sahara for
the first part of the discussion below.
II. Gender Issues and Perspectives
During the presentations, I came across with numerous issues and points that enriched my

This chapter includes history of Solar Water Heating and the technical analysis of the latest
technology in Solar Water Heatingsystems. The analysis of the latest technology involves all
aspects of Alternative Solar Water Heating systems design. Low cost alternative water heating

Water is pumped into solar panels where it is directly heated by the sun and then pumped into
storage tanks where it is stored. Direct systems are very effective but have a shorter life span
when compared to indirect systems. The reason being is that, the water chemicals erode the pipes
and the panels over time and hence have to be maintained regularly. Water inside the panels can
freeze in colder weather conditions which may result in damaging the system (Choosing a solar

Advantages of a Direct System

Disadvantages of a Direct System
п‚§It is only convenient to use them in areas where it rarely freezes and the quality of water must
be really good.
Indirect systems use the same procedure but the geysers in this system have copper pipes that are
used as the heating coil. Water is separated from the water inside the tank by copper pipes in this
system. An antifreeze fluid circulates through the solar panels (Choosing a solar geyser, 2010). The
fluid flows through the collector and then through the copper pipes inside the storage tank. The
water is then indirectly heated. The indirect systems have a longer life span when compared to
