Vulnerability of the Elderly Depicted in the Play, A Cream...
In the play A cream cracker under the settee I think the Alan Bennett is trying to convey a message
about what old age pensioners are really like and what there thoughts are about modern life. The play
was written in 1987 but the concerns of elderly people remain the same. The Play is focused on a
woman called Doris. She is in late adulthood, widowed and lives by herself. Doris has no family or
friends, she has been given a cleaner called Zulema by the council. Zulema comes once a week to
clean Doris house. Doris was once married to a man called Wilfred but he died, she often talks to him
or at least, his photo, and about him. In my personal opinion, I think Doris finds it easier to talk to
Wilfred now he s gone: as they had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doris doesn t have any neighbours or a phone (because she probably can t afford one) so if she was in
trouble and needed help there would be no body there to help her. Don t know anyone around here
now. Doris doesn t think of herself as an old person as she often refers to old people that smell and
need a Zimmer frame, she doesn t realise that she is an old person herself. Doris had a very distant and
isolated relationship with Wilfred when he was alive as they never talked about there feelings, when
Doris had her miscarriage I think Wilfred was scared of showing emotion. The miscarriage has
affected Doris as she says If it had lived, I might have had grandchildren now. Wouldn t have been in
this fix. when she says this, she is calling the baby it I think she refers to the baby as it because of the
midwifes reaction. The midwife said he wasn t fit to be called anything and had we any newspaper.
Wilfred says he did (have newspaper)I think he said that because I think he was trying to help and be
useful, because I think he thought that, that was the only way to be helpful. I think that as a result of it
(the baby) dyeing, led to obsession with cleanliness and hygiene, this makes us feel extremely
sympathetic towards Doris because she can t stop cleaning. Doris is scared of having to go into
Stafford House because she thinks everyone is crazy and smells. I don t want to

Students With Disabilities Education Improvement Act
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the United States alone, about one in
every thirty three babies is born with a birth defect including special needs disorders ( Data Statistics
). Every child, no matter their race, gender, age or disability, has the ability to learn. The ways in
which children learn and their ability to retain knowledge varies considerably, especially when a child
struggles with special needs. The Federal special education law established in 1975 in the Education
for All Handicapped Children Act and then continued through a series of reauthorizations up through
2004 in what is now called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) has
long held that students with disabilities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While disabled students are learning the same curriculum as the regular based learners, they may
struggle and fall behind, as they may not be able to keep up with the work. This can hurt the disabled
child solely because their self confidence can drop and result in them feeling left out. Disabled
learners typically will require extra help and instruction. This can hurt the class as a whole because the
amount of time spent on one concept, can take up too much time and in the end affect the amount of
material covered within a given time period. Even though a child may be pulled out into a resource
room for extra help, they are still delaying the classroom pace which is ultimately a huge academic
disadvantage (Foust, Kathy). Tolerance may be taught in the inclusive classroom setting, but it does
not always have a positive outcome. Students with special needs may receive special privileges, where
as a regular learner may see it as unfair. A child may feel as though disabled students get away with a
lot more since they have a disability. This can lead to other students in the class acting out in hopes of
receiving special treatment as well. It can also lead to resentment and cause conflict in the traditional
classroom (Lawrence,

Compare And Contrast Hardin And Ostrom
The Tragedy of the Commons by Garrett Hardin and A General Framework for Analyzing
Sustainability of Social Ecological Systems by Elinor Ostrom both offer perspectives on the way
humans interact with common pool resources, as well as the property regimes that govern them. A
Common Pool Resource (CPR) is defined by Dietz as a valued natural resource that is available to
more than one person and subject to degradation as a result of overuse. (Hagerman, 2014 a).
Hardin offers a perspective on CPRs through analogies to commons , areas of open access where there
is an absence of well defined property rights [and] access is unregulated and open to anyone.
(Hagerman, 2014a) He explains a scenario where multiple herders own cattle, which all graze on one
common plot of land. The herders weigh the benefits and costs of adding one more cow, and going
beyond the carrying capacity of the commons. If one herder adds a cow, the cost is subtracted evenly
from the well being of the all herders. The benefits, however, are realised uniquely by the herder who
added the cow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Dietz et al., 2003; Monbiot, 1994; Ostrom, 2009) Ostrom s paper examines the diverse outcomes of
the commons, as supposed to Hardin s one size fits all . (Ostrom et al., 2009, p. 419) This way of
looking at the possible outcomes of CPRs differs from Hardin s in that it takes into account different
social and economic variables, whereas Hardin bases his perspective uniquely off of real life
examples, such as that of the high seas. She introduces the Social Ecological System (SES), which is a
framework for examining the different roles, variables, and context that all play into the maintenance
or collapse of an ecosystem. (Ostrom, 2009) SESs are made up of (i) resource units...(ii) resource
systems... (iii) governance systems... and (iv) users (Ostrom, 2009, p.420) who all interact, and play
certain roles in the outcome of an ecosystem. (Ostrom,

The Cellar Coming Of Age Analysis
Abduction n. the action or an instance of forcibly taking someone away against their will. In the book,
The Cellar by Natasha Preston, is about a teenager who decided to go have a fun, memorable night
with friends and the ended up getting abducted and locked up for eight months. Coming of age is
shown throughout this book. Coming of age is shown because Summer deals with being abused, the
death of others, and being thrown back into society after a long period of time.
The first coming of age situation is being abused. He pulled her hair again, making her scream and
thrash around as she tried getting out of his grip. Without hesitation, he plunged the knife into her
stomach, (Preston, 6). Clover does what he wants and hitting these girls is just a part of it. He doesn t
just hit them, he stabbed, kicked, and even raped them. In his opinion, they deserved it, but they
cannot stand the abuse. Clover got so enraged that he beat some of the girls until they couldn t walk
and had to be on bed rest for weeks. Being abused makes them all stronger in the end and now they
know what to do and what to look out for. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the person has to deal with their friend, family member, or even an acquaintance
actually being gone and knowing that they are not coming back. While having to deal and realize this,
the person is growing up. I was sobbing quietly as I watched two of my best friends slumped on the
floor in a growing pool of their own blood, (Preston, 25). In this quote, Summer watches as Clover
kills the people who had her back and protected her while she was abducted, her best friends. For the
rest of her life she ll have to live with what happened to her friends, experiencing it over and over. The
worst part was that the girls had to clean up the mess Clover left behind. Going through this kind of

God and Man in Homer’s Iliad, Virgil’s Aeneid, and...
God and Man in Homer s Iliad, Virgil s Aeneid, and Dante s Inferno
The truest of man s goals is to create art. Art is a by product of the gift of man over the animals,
creativity. Truly, creativity is a replication of God in man and a very possible interpretation of the
Genesis 1:27 phrase in his own image, along with others the possession of an immortal soul or the
ability to speak. And creativity s ultimate end product is art. And art more often than not in the history
of man has led man to pay homage to his creator. Three of the classic literary artistic works of
mankind, Homer s Iliad, Virgil s Aeneid, and Dante s Inferno, feature if not focus on the deity or
deities of the respective authors and their relation to the characters ... Show more content on

When Mercury delivers a message to Aeneas, he does not simply arrive, as Homer would have written
it. He jumps and flies and soars over many important places, with great and interesting detail of his
every twist and turn on his journey (Aen. 4.310 337). This illustrates not only the further development
of writing over Homer, but also possibly the Roman audience s lesser belief in such gods, as they can t
simply be to be believable. Lastly, sharply contrasting the earlier two, is Inferno and the almost
complete lack of God as a character. Instead of acting like the father figure of the Old Testament, God
in Inferno acts as he does in the New Testament, as a being so mighty that he cannot be a character. He
is present, but only through providence in the first canto, Dante becoming lost in the Dark Wood of
Error and finding Virgil helps him to return to the True Way or messengers Beatrice (scattered
throughout) or the angel that opens the gates of Dis (Inf. 8.125 9.100). And as Virgil s over
presentation of the gods shows his audience s lack of faith, the nigh complete absence of God shows
the extreme faith of Dante s audience: Christians who for the most part claim to have never seen God
working directly with miracles (and, of course, the Judeo Christian concept of God being more
abstract than the Greek or Roman mythic anthropomorphism).

Evaluation Of A Performance Evaluation Based On The...
For instance, loyalty, dynamism, leadership sociability, creativity are characteristics required in wide
variety of jobs. This type of evaluation is popular, although it remains widely criticized (McGregor,
1957). Many specialists believe that personality traits are unobservable, therefore, difficult to define
and measure. These can cause bias in the evaluation and shorten the validity because the respect we
hold for the inherent value of the individual leaves us distresses when we must take responsibility for
judging the personal worth of a fellowman . (Schmidt Hunter, 1998). Furthermore, the personality
traits is somewhat related to the performance of the individual at work. In addition, making a
judgment about an individual does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this type of evaluation, the peers play a central role because of the fact that they are familiar with
the work and also have daily interaction with the assesse. By contrast, in an organization where there
is competition among workers, the 360 degree may pervert the relationship of exchange and
cooperation. Certainly, with this type of evaluation there may be opportunity to speak badly of the
work done by others. Despite this, Antonioni mentioned that these personal opinions on the
colleagues, when expressed through this 360 degree appraisal could become opportunities to address
conflict and possibly solve it. Secondly, a feedback is given to the appraised. This is based on many
diversified information and, therefore, is supposed to be more credible and valid. As mentioned by
Antonioni, the multiple sources help increase loyalty and the measure of validity. In addition, the
confidentiality of the descriptions as well as the fact that specific observable behaviors are taken into
account adds more value to the validity. First, performance management through evaluation allows
employee to know what is expected of him and what will be evaluated. Individual wants to know how
the other deems to reflect on his behaviors. So along the way, the feedback he/she receives may allow
him to know what his evaluator think of his performance on the job and what he could do in order to
improve, maintain or fix. Receiving a feedback may be a constructive experience,

The Life Of A Soccer
The life of a soccer (overlap lesson) I do not know whether it has been out of our little childishness or
foolishness at a young age, but for some reason, I was never able to see nor relate the future to
whomever I was or what I was doing at the present not until they happen to me; the point where it is
impossible to ignore them. I remembered the laugh and sweat out in the plain, in that sunny day, not a
green or regulated field, but a beautiful barren and grassless field, a virtual desert, but I always rather
chose to spend my time on that wrenched and beautiful than other place. From far a distance, one will
be able to see something like a pile of rectangular shape at the end of the field and to the other field as
well. Sometimes, a circulation of dirt and people almost smashing into each other. My mom knew that
I would rush to the field rather than to home when every kid at the village would quicken to home at
the end of school. I would quicken to the field to enjoy the sweat and laughter. On that sunny day, no
one will not be able to find water other than on my shirt that is filled with the wet of a sweat. Then, I
did lie down on the field and laugh after all the run and playing soccer. This constant action of rushing
to the field, generating sweat and going home at the dawn of the night is an continuous activity that I
did while growing up. And though, I think it of as a child s hobby, it may be far more than that.
Unbeknownst to me was that playing soccer was not a

Joseph Rudyard Kipling and his Works
Rudyard Kipling
If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten. Rudyard Kipling. Rudyard
Kipling was born on December 30, 1865 at Bombay, India. Kipling spent the first six years of his
idyllic life in India until his family moved back to England in 1871. After six months of living in
England his parents abandoned him and his three year old sister, leaving them with the Holloway
family, which in turn mistreated him physically and psychologically, this left him with a sense of
betrayal and scars mentally, but it was then Kipling started to grow a love for literature. Between 1878
and 1882 he attended the United Services College at Westward Ho in north Devon. The College was a

England refused to provide for these men, finding it easier to talk about the glory of their soldiers
rather than deliver them sustenance. Kipling s tone is grave and melancholy but also shows a sense of
rage and bitterness that coursed through his lines as well as his life. Kipling was more negative than
most poets at the time and it is no surprise this poem was far less popular.
Kiplings poem boots is about the endless marching done in Africa. Kipling explains how the soldier
would march for days, even weeks with no one to fight, and because the war was still on the endless
marching with nothing to do but stare at the boots in front of you would drive you crazy. We can stick
out unger, thirst, an weariness,/But not not not not the chronic sight of em /Boot boots boots boots
movin up an down again (21 23). Kipling even says, staring at the boots, not knowing when the next
battle will be is even worse than being shot at. Kipling uses repetition in this poem to give the reader a
sense of monotony. Kipling s poem says to count the bullets in the bandoliers and do not let your eyes
drop or the enemy will get on top of you. It is not altogether too bad during the day because of one s
friends, but at night the long strings of forty million are too much to bear. Soldiers marched six weeks

Significance Of The Treaty Of Versailles

Significance of the Treaty of Versailles
World War I was a devastating war that had a long lasting effect on every European country. After the
assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austrian throne, and his wife by the hands of a
Serbian terrorist group known as the Black Hand. Germany urged Austria Hungary to attack Serbia,
but Russia stepped up to protect the country. Germany ambushed Belgium, and proceeded to Russia,
throwing Great Britain into the war due to their alliance with Belgium. As a result, the continent of
Europe, including Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Austria Hungary, and France, was plunged into a great
World War. The war lasted from 1914 to 1918, and it left Germany singled out as the catalyst. In
November 1918, Germany finally agreed to an Armistice, a halt in the fighting, but they did not
consider themselves to be surrendering. At the time, the Germans believed that they would play a role
in constructing the treaty that would end the war, but when the time came, they were not allowed to
participate. Germany was greatly angered by this, but there was nothing that they could do for their
army had been disarmed. They had two choices: sign the Treaty or be invaded by the Allies. With no
other option, the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919 in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace
of Versailles in France. Although the Treaty of Versailles did bring an end to World War I,

Psychodynamic Personality Theories
Introduction:
Personality is something every living, and mentally functioning human member of society has. Our
personalities are made up of our behaviours and the way in which we think, feel and act no two people
are exactly alike in personality. (Fletcher and Garton, 2015).
Personality plays a major role in psychology as it is constantly being talked about in terms of
developing it, measuring it and how it can influence the way we interact with others.
Theorists have identified different traits and characteristics as a way to categorise different personality
types. Within psychology there is three theories relating to Personality; humanistic, psychodynamic
and trait. These perspectives were developed by different psychological theorists, in which this
presentation we ll attempt to draw further into. In particular, this presentation will focus on humanistic
and psychodynamic personality perspectives. (Fletcher and Garton, 2015)
Theory 1: Freud s Psychodynamic View
Psychodynamics is one of the three major personality perspectives and leads people to believe that
human thoughts, feelings and actions are caused by a relationship between three elements of the mind
the id, the ego and the super ego. Our minds are divided into three levels, conscious awareness,
preconscious awareness and unconscious awareness. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was responsible for the use of psychoanalysis, a way in which mental illnesses are often treated and
patients were encouraged to talk freely about whatever was on their mind. This is typically where the
idea of laying on couch and talking to a psychologist about one s mental health comes from Freud s
famous couch and his use of analysing behaviour. Freud is one of the leading theorists of
psychodynamics and had one of the major inputs into the ideas it was based on. (McLeod,

Total Artificial Heart Ethical Dilemma
Since the mid 19th century, heart transplants have been been the best option for patients with heart
problems. According to Hajar, there are about 5 million people experiencing heart failure resulting
with more than 280 deaths a year. With the advancement of technology, the Total Artificial Heart was
created to replace a damaged heart if a transplant were unavailable. Although many people see this as
an alternate solution, there is debate over whether this is an ethical choice for the patient. When
considering the ethics of a Total Artificial Heart, many factors come into play including the extraneous
cost of the device, how it will affect the quality of the patient s life, and the overall success of the
device to last.
Since the Total Artificial Heart is a medical device that replaces such an important organ of the human
body and it is in high demand, the device is priced at an unbearably high cost of more than $100,000.
Although this price is necessary to pay for the research and production of the device, it is unfortunate

allows a patient to live from a few months to one or two years. Statistically, heart transplants are

Consequently, statistics show that an available heart transplant is more effective than an artificial

receive a Total Artificial Heart transplant who live off a machine strapped to their chest. Overall, the

Students Moving Into College
Moving into college is a major transition in a student s life and it can bring about a lot of life stressors.
Moving in and adjusting to the college lifestyle can be more difficult for some than others, but
regardless there is a lot more freedom for students to make their own choices and do as they please. In
some cases, students do not necessarily know what to do with this new freedom and can fall into a
variety of habits that range from positive to negative such as studying, exercising, partying, or drug
use. Research has supported that certain lifestyles, specifically drug use and stress, can have
significant effects on how well one performs academically. For example, researchers found that stress

Could the fact that a smaller percentage of younger adults currently smoke result in a decrease in

Lev Vygotsky s Theory Of Human Development
Lev Vygotsky was a soviet psychologist born at the end of the 19th century. His theory of human
development was very different from Carl Rogers. Vygotsky believed that children learnt by
interacting with others and those with strong family cultural social or peer grow groups learnt well. He
thought that an individual could improve an increase in knowledge through social interaction. He
developed an idea we would learn from MKO which stood for more knowledgeable other . Someone
who has a better understanding. If an infant or learner was given a task that was too easy, they would
lose interest and get bored and if it was too hard they would give up and think they couldn t do it. So,
by bringing someone else into the equation to help, the child learns through social interaction in
something that Vygotsky called the ZPD this is the zone of proximal development this is by the means
of what he called scaffolding so using varying methods by describing, hints, verbal gestures were used
to assist the learner.
The ZPD could be described as like an apple cut in half. The outer section which is the skin is what
the learner cannot do. The inner section which is the flesh of the Apple is what the learner can do with
guidance, which is the ZPD. In the heart of the Apple where the core is, the seeds and buds of learning
take place this is what the learner can do unaided.

Rienhard Heydrich s Death During The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a dark time in humanity s history; a time that should be looked back on in shame.
People lost their compassion and empathy towards one another. These emotions are essential in
keeping peace and harmony throughout the world, and give mankind a natural kindheartedness
towards one another. Having the innate sense to feel for one another and understand the trials and
tribulations others go through is what truly makes us human. This is what was lost during the
Holocaust. The inherent good that humans are born with, was taken away by Adolf Hitler and his
Third Reich. It led to the deaths of entire cultures and millions of innocent peoples lives were changed

According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Heydrich died in June 1942 from
injuries sustained during an assassination attempt by Czech partisans (United States Holocaust

was one of the best National Socialists, one of the staunchest defenders of the concept of the German

Himmler and Hitler sent him to represent them in the Wannsee Conference in January 20, 1942, to

was very well respected by Himmler and was his right hand man. And when Heydrich died in 1942
Himmler was very hurt by it and wanted to carry on his legacy. This is what triggered Himmler to start

Operation Rienhard was started in the autumn of 1941 (but later renamed in honor of Heydrich) and

The Threat Of Genetically Modified Foods
Whether Americans realize it or not, most of them consume genetically modified organisms every
time they eat a snack or a meal. According to Robin Mather s article The Threats from Genetically
Modified Foods , you re eating genetically modified foods almost daily unless you grow all of the
food or always buy organic (Mather). This can be a scary thought for those who know about the
numerous effects of GMOs or those who didn t know what was in the food they ve been ingesting for
years. When Nielsen selected 1,200 Americans for a survey on GMOs for The Wall Street Journal,
61% of consumers had heard of GMOs and nearly half of those people said they avoid eating them
(Gasparro). The only difficulty with avoiding genetically modified organisms is that they make up
approximately eighty percent of the ingredients used in processed foods that put together most of the
regular American diet (Gasparro). The reason that genetically modified organisms are in most
processed foods is because most processed foods contain corn or high fructose corn syrup that comes
from genetically modified corn plants. Of all the corn, soybeans, sugar beet, and canola crops grown
in the United States, over ninety percent of those crops are grown from genetically altered seeds
(Gasparro). Ever since 1996, when genetically modified plants were first commercially grown for the
public, the use of genetically modified seeds has been on a sharp increase (Charman). Although the
use of genetically modified

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite

unconventional, this is not a major departure from mainstream Christianity, since God is believed to
encompass both male and female (both were created in the image of God ). Christian Science teaches
that Jesus is divine but not God, and that Jesus human nature is a separate entity from the divine
Christ. Jesus Christ is not God, as Jesus himself declared, but is the Son of God (Science and Health,

Light And Dark In The Great Gatsby
I don t tell the truth, I tell what ought to be truth. And if that is sinful, then let me be damned for it!
(Williams 145). The common theme of light and dark is used by American authors to help reveal truth.
Characters hiding from the truth also hide from the light. These characters hide because they are
scared of revealing the truth to others and to themselves. When Blanche describes her view on the
truth, she doesn t know that she almost predicts the tragic end to her life, which can be blamed on her
lies. Hiding from the light illustrates instability and an apprehensive life. In an attempt to appear a
certain way, characters create these lies about their past. Their lies eventually become the most
important thing in their lives, and leads to their demise. In A Streetcar Named Desire, The Great
Gatsby, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lies characters create are often to cover up a past they are not proud of. In A Streetcar Named
Desire, Blanche is a mysterious who has a strong distaste for being in direct light. She relies on the
dark to hide her insincerity. When she first arrives at her sister s home, she describes how she can t
stand a naked light bulb, any more than I can a rude remark or a vulgar action (Williams 60). This
strong disfavor towards light reveals Blanche s lies throughout the novel. Blanche s main lie is her
age. She hides from the light to make her appear younger. Blanche also hides from her desolate past.
Blanche married young and shortly after, the young man stuck [a] revolver into his mouth, and fired
(115). Blaming the suicide on herself, Blanche tries to hide from the past away from the starkness of
light that would reveal everything. In The Great Gatsby, characters also use the dark to hide from
realities in their life. Gatsby s goals in life are represented by a green light on the end of the dock. This
light overshadows Gatsby, leaving him in the dark. Although this light is something he always reaches

Superheroes In The Incredibles
The Incredibles is a 2004 animated film produced by Pixar Studios. It takes place in a superhero filled
world in the 1960 s. The film follows former superheroes, Bob and Helen Parr, as well as their super
powered children. The film breaks from the convention of the genre through its focus on the
consequence of hero work, the subversion of the typical protagonist and its lack of source material.
Often in superhero films, heroes are able to tear up whole cities in the pursuit of stopping a villain
with next to no repercussions resulting from the property damage they caused; this type of careless
display of destruction was shown in such films as The Avengers (2012), and was most notably
criticized in 2013 s Man of Steel. The Incredibles, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After the events of the opening sequence, it cuts to 15 years later, as they are no longer allowed to use
their superpowers, Bob is working at a mundane office job and Helen (formerly Elastigirl) is at home
taking care of their children. Heroes are often shown as younger and physically fit, not middle aged
and married; even in films where they follow a more mature hero, such as Tony Stark in Iron Man
(2008), and subsequent films; he is still a childless bachelor. Centering the film on characters in this
phase of life brings an interesting perspective on what it would be like to juggle a family and
superhero work. Moreover, unlike other superhero teams, which may position the team as coming
together to form familial like relationship through their shared super powered abilities, as in X Men
(2000), or through an organization like Avengers (2012), The Incredibles has the superhero team as an
actual family. The film displays a realistic, slightly dysfunctional family dynamic, making the
characters feel real instead portraying them like gods or icons to look up to, as superheroes often

How Curriculum Is Implemented All Within The California...
According to the glossary for Education Reform, the definition of curriculum is the lessons and
academic content taught in a school or in a specific course or program. (S. Abbott (Ed.), 2014) This
term, curriculum, can be as simple as a unit plan for a specific subject or as complex as district
mandated lessons for an entire department. My focus will be on issues surrounding how curriculum is
developed, how decisions are made on who teaches what, and how curriculum is implemented all
within the California public school system. I believe the core mission of being a teacher is to deliver
meaningful curriculum to our students which will allow them to successfully pass each grade level and
become productive members of society. How do we, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Throughout the history of education, many curriculum frameworks have followed the one size fits all
formula. This model makes schools more like a factory where students sit in class, listen to the
teachers lecture, memorize and regurgitate facts, pass a test, and move on if they are able to fit into
that mold. If they don t they fail. We know, based on Gardner s theory of multiple intelligences that

Modern America s Foundation Consists Of Equality And...
Modern America s foundation consists of equality and their values against discrimination. However,
during the 1900 s equality was not as easy as it is today due to factors such as individuals viewing
themselves as superior to others. According to the Anti Defamation League (ADL), this is the
mentality known as racism. It s defined as the belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to
another, that a person s social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological
characteristics... (ADL). The persistence in the 1900 s of White Americans to hinder blacks from
reaching their true equality was dominant in communities, specifically in the Southern States of the
United States. The perception of race by the society and its citizens affected the lives of blacks, from
how they felt, to the nature and the extent in which they participated in social life. By looking at the
film entitled The Great Debaters, we can see that in order to persuade someone to do something, it is
beneficial to create a sense of responsibility; this works because, making actions seem personally
relevant is more effective than a generic response.
Lloyd Bitzer employs that when trying to advocate for change individuals must illustrate a reality that
will enable action. Individuals are often persuaded through measures that provoke a reaction and an
urgency for change in a given situation. Bitzer discusses that a situation, specifically a rhetorical
situation, comes into existence as

Hunger Games versus The Lottery Essay
The Lottery (Jackson, pg 163 170) and The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) are both popular pieces of
seemingly like, popular literature. Rituals and rules come into play strongly in both stories. In
comparing The Lottery (Jackson, pg 163 170) and The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) I find that both
stories focus strongly on their annual rituals of sacrifice with a scapegoat. The Lottery (Jackson, pg
163 170) and The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) have a ceremony, a formal event that brings the town
or district together while having no real significance. Both stories also include similar rules, such as
the rule that all people living in the town or district must attend the day that the person is chosen.

The family whos head of household gets the black dot will then have each member of the family draw

between the rituals in The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) and The Lottery (Jackson, pg 163 170) is the
event that actually takes place when the person is decided upon. In The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008)
the tributes are made to fight to the death, with the possibility of living. In The Lottery the person is
stoned to death, having no chance of living through it. Both stories deal with a scapegoat ritual. A
scapegoat is one that bears the blame for others. (Merriam Webster, definition 2) In The Hunger
Games (Collins, 2008) sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen is the scapegoat after she volunteers to take
the place of her younger sister Primrose Everdeen. In The Lottery Tessie Hutchinson is the scapegoat
when she draws the paper with the black dot on it. The characters from the stories are being faced with
death for something that they did not do, but rather their town or district did, or thinks is necessary.
A ceremony is a formal act or event that is a part of a social or religious occasion. (Merriam Webster,

Chapter 9 Power, Politics, and Glory was a chapter focused on art and how leaders, of different
cultures, used them to portray themselves, or their governments, in a new or better light. Some key
topics that covered the ideas of Power, Politics, and Glory were; The glory of the ruler, The power of
state, War, and Peace. The glory of the ruler is what I thought of when reading the title of this chapter
and is why I chose it. The glory of the ruler was really a focus on the art that rulers created for the
single purpose of showing how great they are. The following artistic devices are often used to glorify
a ruler s image: The idealized image... Symbols...Compositional devices. (Pg. 252) This section

A Brief Note On The And The Classroom
Paraprofessionals
Paraprofessionals, or paras as they are most commonly called, have very important roles in and out of
the classroom. They assist special needs students with a variety of tasks and routines throughout the
school day. However, according to Giangreco, the common misconception teachers have is that the
paraprofessional and special educator will handle most of the planning, adapting, supervision, and
instruction. All I need to do is be a gracious host (Giangreco, 2003). This way of thinking can cause
tension between the para and the classroom teacher. Sure, paras are in the classroom for the special ed
kids, but teachers are in the classroom for all students. They should not ignore the students with
disabilities just because there is a para in the room who s job it is to handle these students. Para s are
in classrooms to assist the children with their learning, not take the role of the teacher.
Another common misconception, this one from the community as a whole, is that aides and paras have
the same responsibilities. Aides take the role of a teacher s assistant more so than a para. Aides are in
the classroom to help keep the chaos to a minimum, organize the classroom, and make copies for a
lesson. Paras on the other hand, are trained professionals that modify curriculum, implement behavior
management plans, and provide one on one instruction for the students with special needs (Role). In
fact, the average special education paraprofessional works in five

The Issue Of Insider Outsider
In terms of the theoretical issues in qualitative research, the issue of insider outsider has arisen as one
of the debated topics for some recent scholars (e.g. Kanuha, 2000; Dwyer and Buckle, 2009).
Historically, social researchers commonly agreed with the separation of facts and values and the
interdiction on employing values in assessing of truth permit research becoming objective (David and
Sutton, 2004:17). Here an objective research refers to researcher objectively eliminate their own gaze
in the course or research. In this sense, researchers should be acted as an outsider who common
attributes are shared by the research participants. Acknowledged by Fay (1996) that qualitative
researchers as not being an insider during research are beneficial in term of assisting the understanding
of the researched group, he further proposed that researchers as an outsider might be more sufficiently
conceived the experience from the researched, might be more capable to recognise the broader
perspective, and might be more obviously to view what is happening, since researchers as an insider
are frequently intertwined with their own knowledge (Fay, 1996). Among the three chosen studies,
Mandiuc (2014) s study can be considered as an example of outsider researcher since she did not
clearly explained whether she has any experiences of motherhood and/or on prostitution.
Yet, social researchers nowadays have increasingly deemed that the qualitative researchers should be

Importance Of Abolition Of Child Labour
The effective abolition of child labour is one of the most urgent challenges of our time. Today, we
have a better grasp of the size and the shape of the problem. More than 200 million child labourers
worldwide, some 180 million are now suspected to be toiling in the worst forms of child labour those
activities that the global community has unanimously agreed are inexcusable under any circumstances
and must be eliminated without de lay. The persistence on such a scale of this violation of children s
basic human rights casts a shadow over us all. The past decade has seen an unprecedented
convergence of thought and action around this cause, in recognition of the fact that the abolition of
child labour is an issue at the heart of social and economic development and not at its margins. The

Witchcraft Is The Existence Of Magic That Is Manipulated...
Witchcraft in Nepal
Witchcraft is the belief of magic that is manipulated for both good and wicked purposes (McGarry,
2016). The practice of witchcraft is demonstrated in many societies around the world; however,
witchcraft is looked down upon. In this case, two societies in Nepal are significant for the practices
and beliefs of witchcraft: the Tibetan Nyinba, and the Kathmandu Village. These two societies believe
in witchcraft because of the harmful and malicious practices [witches] hold within these societies. The
Tibetan and Kathmandu hold remarkably similar beliefs about witchcraft such as, Women inherit
witchery, and is executed though emotional traits and the mind (Gellner, 1994; Levine, 1982). Next,
these societies have formed beliefs about witches based on noted practices and stories of witchcraft.
To include, another major factor that the Tibetan and Kathmandu believe about witchcraft is the
deviance and darkness behind witchery. By comparing these close knit societies, witchcraft in Nepal is
believed to be unsettling and harmful among members of the groups. To begin with, it is an important
determent to know that it is women who are practicing witchcraft among these societies. The Tibetan
and Kathmandu Village believe that Women carry the hereditary to witchery and Women among lower
social class is linked to witchcraft (Gellner, 1994; Levine, 1982). In the Tibetan Nyinba, the beginning
of this belief was linked to the assumption of a female phenomenon

  • 2. Vulnerability of the Elderly Depicted in the Play, A Cream... In the play A cream cracker under the settee I think the Alan Bennett is trying to convey a message about what old age pensioners are really like and what there thoughts are about modern life. The play was written in 1987 but the concerns of elderly people remain the same. The Play is focused on a woman called Doris. She is in late adulthood, widowed and lives by herself. Doris has no family or friends, she has been given a cleaner called Zulema by the council. Zulema comes once a week to clean Doris house. Doris was once married to a man called Wilfred but he died, she often talks to him or at least, his photo, and about him. In my personal opinion, I think Doris finds it easier to talk to Wilfred now he s gone: as they had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Doris doesn t have any neighbours or a phone (because she probably can t afford one) so if she was in trouble and needed help there would be no body there to help her. Don t know anyone around here now. Doris doesn t think of herself as an old person as she often refers to old people that smell and need a Zimmer frame, she doesn t realise that she is an old person herself. Doris had a very distant and isolated relationship with Wilfred when he was alive as they never talked about there feelings, when Doris had her miscarriage I think Wilfred was scared of showing emotion. The miscarriage has affected Doris as she says If it had lived, I might have had grandchildren now. Wouldn t have been in this fix. when she says this, she is calling the baby it I think she refers to the baby as it because of the midwifes reaction. The midwife said he wasn t fit to be called anything and had we any newspaper. Wilfred says he did (have newspaper)I think he said that because I think he was trying to help and be useful, because I think he thought that, that was the only way to be helpful. I think that as a result of it (the baby) dyeing, led to obsession with cleanliness and hygiene, this makes us feel extremely sympathetic towards Doris because she can t stop cleaning. Doris is scared of having to go into Stafford House because she thinks everyone is crazy and smells. I don t want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Students With Disabilities Education Improvement Act According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the United States alone, about one in every thirty three babies is born with a birth defect including special needs disorders ( Data Statistics ). Every child, no matter their race, gender, age or disability, has the ability to learn. The ways in which children learn and their ability to retain knowledge varies considerably, especially when a child struggles with special needs. The Federal special education law established in 1975 in the Education for All Handicapped Children Act and then continued through a series of reauthorizations up through 2004 in what is now called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) has long held that students with disabilities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While disabled students are learning the same curriculum as the regular based learners, they may struggle and fall behind, as they may not be able to keep up with the work. This can hurt the disabled child solely because their self confidence can drop and result in them feeling left out. Disabled learners typically will require extra help and instruction. This can hurt the class as a whole because the amount of time spent on one concept, can take up too much time and in the end affect the amount of material covered within a given time period. Even though a child may be pulled out into a resource room for extra help, they are still delaying the classroom pace which is ultimately a huge academic disadvantage (Foust, Kathy). Tolerance may be taught in the inclusive classroom setting, but it does not always have a positive outcome. Students with special needs may receive special privileges, where as a regular learner may see it as unfair. A child may feel as though disabled students get away with a lot more since they have a disability. This can lead to other students in the class acting out in hopes of receiving special treatment as well. It can also lead to resentment and cause conflict in the traditional classroom (Lawrence, ... • 4. Compare And Contrast Hardin And Ostrom The Tragedy of the Commons by Garrett Hardin and A General Framework for Analyzing Sustainability of Social Ecological Systems by Elinor Ostrom both offer perspectives on the way humans interact with common pool resources, as well as the property regimes that govern them. A Common Pool Resource (CPR) is defined by Dietz as a valued natural resource that is available to more than one person and subject to degradation as a result of overuse. (Hagerman, 2014 a). Hardin offers a perspective on CPRs through analogies to commons , areas of open access where there is an absence of well defined property rights [and] access is unregulated and open to anyone. (Hagerman, 2014a) He explains a scenario where multiple herders own cattle, which all graze on one common plot of land. The herders weigh the benefits and costs of adding one more cow, and going beyond the carrying capacity of the commons. If one herder adds a cow, the cost is subtracted evenly from the well being of the all herders. The benefits, however, are realised uniquely by the herder who added the cow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Dietz et al., 2003; Monbiot, 1994; Ostrom, 2009) Ostrom s paper examines the diverse outcomes of the commons, as supposed to Hardin s one size fits all . (Ostrom et al., 2009, p. 419) This way of looking at the possible outcomes of CPRs differs from Hardin s in that it takes into account different social and economic variables, whereas Hardin bases his perspective uniquely off of real life examples, such as that of the high seas. She introduces the Social Ecological System (SES), which is a framework for examining the different roles, variables, and context that all play into the maintenance or collapse of an ecosystem. (Ostrom, 2009) SESs are made up of (i) resource units...(ii) resource systems... (iii) governance systems... and (iv) users (Ostrom, 2009, p.420) who all interact, and play certain roles in the outcome of an ecosystem. (Ostrom, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Cellar Coming Of Age Analysis Abduction n. the action or an instance of forcibly taking someone away against their will. In the book, The Cellar by Natasha Preston, is about a teenager who decided to go have a fun, memorable night with friends and the ended up getting abducted and locked up for eight months. Coming of age is shown throughout this book. Coming of age is shown because Summer deals with being abused, the death of others, and being thrown back into society after a long period of time. The first coming of age situation is being abused. He pulled her hair again, making her scream and thrash around as she tried getting out of his grip. Without hesitation, he plunged the knife into her stomach, (Preston, 6). Clover does what he wants and hitting these girls is just a part of it. He doesn t just hit them, he stabbed, kicked, and even raped them. In his opinion, they deserved it, but they cannot stand the abuse. Clover got so enraged that he beat some of the girls until they couldn t walk and had to be on bed rest for weeks. Being abused makes them all stronger in the end and now they know what to do and what to look out for. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While having to deal and realize this, the person is growing up. I was sobbing quietly as I watched two of my best friends slumped on the floor in a growing pool of their own blood, (Preston, 25). In this quote, Summer watches as Clover kills the people who had her back and protected her while she was abducted, her best friends. Art is a by product of the gift of man over the animals, creativity. Truly, creativity is a replication of God in man and a very possible interpretation of the Genesis 1:27 phrase in his own image, along with others the possession of an immortal soul or the ability to speak. He jumps and flies and soars over many important places, with great and interesting detail of his every twist and turn on his journey (Aen. 4.310 337). This illustrates not only the further development of writing over Homer, but also possibly the Roman audience s lesser belief in such gods, as they can t simply be to be believable. Lastly, sharply contrasting the earlier two, is Inferno and the almost complete lack of God as a character. Instead of acting like the father figure of the Old Testament, God in Inferno acts as he does in the New Testament, as a being so mighty that he cannot be a character. He is present, but only through providence in the first canto, Dante becoming lost in the Dark Wood of Error and finding Virgil helps him to return to the True Way or messengers Beatrice (scattered throughout) or the angel that opens the gates of Dis (Inf. 8.125 9.100). And as Virgil s over presentation of the gods shows his audience s lack of faith, the nigh complete absence of God shows the extreme faith of Dante s audience: Christians who for the most part claim to have never seen God working directly with miracles (and, of course, the Judeo Christian concept of God being more abstract than the Greek or Roman mythic anthropomorphism). This type of evaluation is popular, although it remains widely criticized (McGregor, 1957). Many specialists believe that personality traits are unobservable, therefore, difficult to define and measure. These can cause bias in the evaluation and shorten the validity because the respect we hold for the inherent value of the individual leaves us distresses when we must take responsibility for judging the personal worth of a fellowman . (Schmidt Hunter, 1998). Furthermore, the personality traits is somewhat related to the performance of the individual at work. In addition, making a judgment about an individual does not ... By contrast, in an organization where there is competition among workers, the 360 degree may pervert the relationship of exchange and cooperation. Certainly, with this type of evaluation there may be opportunity to speak badly of the work done by others. Despite this, Antonioni mentioned that these personal opinions on the colleagues, when expressed through this 360 degree appraisal could become opportunities to address conflict and possibly solve it. Secondly, a feedback is given to the appraised. This is based on many diversified information and, therefore, is supposed to be more credible and valid. As mentioned by Antonioni, the multiple sources help increase loyalty and the measure of validity. In addition, the confidentiality of the descriptions as well as the fact that specific observable behaviors are taken into account adds more value to the validity. First, performance management through evaluation allows employee to know what is expected of him and what will be evaluated. Individual wants to know how the other deems to reflect on his behaviors. The Life Of A Soccer The life of a soccer (overlap lesson) I do not know whether it has been out of our little childishness or foolishness at a young age, but for some reason, I was never able to see nor relate the future to whomever I was or what I was doing at the present not until they happen to me; the point where it is impossible to ignore them. I remembered the laugh and sweat out in the plain, in that sunny day, not a green or regulated field, but a beautiful barren and grassless field, a virtual desert, but I always rather chose to spend my time on that wrenched and beautiful than other place. From far a distance, one will be able to see something like a pile of rectangular shape at the end of the field and to the other field as well. Sometimes, a circulation of dirt and people almost smashing into each other. My mom knew that I would rush to the field rather than to home when every kid at the village would quicken to home at the end of school. I would quicken to the field to enjoy the sweat and laughter. On that sunny day, no one will not be able to find water other than on my shirt that is filled with the wet of a sweat. Then, I did lie down on the field and laugh after all the run and playing soccer. This constant action of rushing to the field, generating sweat and going home at the dawn of the night is an continuous activity that I did while growing up. • 11. Significance Of The Treaty Of Versailles Madison Welzbacher September 19, 2014 World History Significance of the Treaty of Versailles World War I was a devastating war that had a long lasting effect on every European country. After the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austrian throne, and his wife by the hands of a Serbian terrorist group known as the Black Hand. Germany urged Austria Hungary to attack Serbia, but Russia stepped up to protect the country. Germany ambushed Belgium, and proceeded to Russia, throwing Great Britain into the war due to their alliance with Belgium. As a result, the continent of Europe, including Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Austria Hungary, and France, was plunged into a great World War. The war lasted from 1914 to 1918, and it left Germany singled out as the catalyst. In November 1918, Germany finally agreed to an Armistice, a halt in the fighting, but they did not consider themselves to be surrendering. At the time, the Germans believed that they would play a role in constructing the treaty that would end the war, but when the time came, they were not allowed to participate. Germany was greatly angered by this, but there was nothing that they could do for their army had been disarmed. They had two choices: sign the Treaty or be invaded by the Allies. Our personalities are made up of our behaviours and the way in which we think, feel and act no two people are exactly alike in personality. (Fletcher and Garton, 2015). Personality plays a major role in psychology as it is constantly being talked about in terms of developing it, measuring it and how it can influence the way we interact with others. Theorists have identified different traits and characteristics as a way to categorise different personality types. Within psychology there is three theories relating to Personality; humanistic, psychodynamic and trait. These perspectives were developed by different psychological theorists, in which this presentation we ll attempt to draw further into. In particular, this presentation will focus on humanistic and psychodynamic personality perspectives. (Fletcher and Garton, 2015) Theory 1: Freud s Psychodynamic View Psychodynamics is one of the three major personality perspectives and leads people to believe that human thoughts, feelings and actions are caused by a relationship between three elements of the mind the id, the ego and the super ego. With the advancement of technology, the Total Artificial Heart was created to replace a damaged heart if a transplant were unavailable. Although many people see this as an alternate solution, there is debate over whether this is an ethical choice for the patient. When considering the ethics of a Total Artificial Heart, many factors come into play including the extraneous cost of the device, how it will affect the quality of the patient s life, and the overall success of the device to last. According to Robin Mather s article The Threats from Genetically Modified Foods , you re eating genetically modified foods almost daily unless you grow all of the food or always buy organic (Mather). This can be a scary thought for those who know about the numerous effects of GMOs or those who didn t know what was in the food they ve been ingesting for years. When Nielsen selected 1,200 Americans for a survey on GMOs for The Wall Street Journal, 61% of consumers had heard of GMOs and nearly half of those people said they avoid eating them (Gasparro). The only difficulty with avoiding genetically modified organisms is that they make up approximately eighty percent of the ingredients used in processed foods that put together most of the regular American diet (Gasparro). The reason that genetically modified organisms are in most processed foods is because most processed foods contain corn or high fructose corn syrup that comes from genetically modified corn plants. Of all the corn, soybeans, sugar beet, and canola crops grown in the United States, over ninety percent of those crops are grown from genetically altered seeds (Gasparro). The film follows former superheroes, Bob and Helen Parr, as well as their super powered children. The film breaks from the convention of the genre through its focus on the consequence of hero work, the subversion of the typical protagonist and its lack of source material. Often in superhero films, heroes are able to tear up whole cities in the pursuit of stopping a villain with next to no repercussions resulting from the property damage they caused; this type of careless display of destruction was shown in such films as The Avengers (2012), and was most notably criticized in 2013 s Man of Steel. However, during the 1900 s equality was not as easy as it is today due to factors such as individuals viewing themselves as superior to others. According to the Anti Defamation League (ADL), this is the mentality known as racism. It s defined as the belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person s social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics... (ADL). The persistence in the 1900 s of White Americans to hinder blacks from reaching their true equality was dominant in communities, specifically in the Southern States of the United States. The perception of race by the society and its citizens affected the lives of blacks, from how they felt, to the nature and the extent in which they participated in social life. By looking at the film entitled The Great Debaters, we can see that in order to persuade someone to do something, it is beneficial to create a sense of responsibility; this works because, making actions seem personally relevant is more effective than a generic response. Lloyd Bitzer employs that when trying to advocate for change individuals must illustrate a reality that will enable action. Individuals are often persuaded through measures that provoke a reaction and an urgency for change in a given situation. Bitzer discusses that a situation, specifically a rhetorical situation, comes into existence as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rituals and rules come into play strongly in both stories. In comparing The Lottery (Jackson, pg 163 170) and The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) I find that both stories focus strongly on their annual rituals of sacrifice with a scapegoat. The Lottery (Jackson, pg 163 170) and The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) have a ceremony, a formal event that brings the town or district together while having no real significance. Both stories also include similar rules, such as the rule that all people living in the town or district must attend the day that the person is chosen. A ritual is always done in a ... The person that draws the black dot this time will be the sacrifice. The main difference between the rituals in The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) and The Lottery (Jackson, pg 163 170) is the event that actually takes place when the person is decided upon. In The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) the tributes are made to fight to the death, with the possibility of living. In The Lottery the person is stoned to death, having no chance of living through it. Both stories deal with a scapegoat ritual. A scapegoat is one that bears the blame for others. (Merriam Webster, definition 2) In The Hunger Games (Collins, 2008) sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen is the scapegoat after she volunteers to take the place of her younger sister Primrose Everdeen. In The Lottery Tessie Hutchinson is the scapegoat when she draws the paper with the black dot on it. The characters from the stories are being faced with death for something that they did not do, but rather their town or district did, or thinks is necessary. A ceremony is a formal act or event that is a part of a social or religious occasion. (Merriam Webster, definition 1) as well a ceremony is an action performed only formally with no deep significance. (Merriam Webster, definition 2b). • 33. A Brief Note On The And The Classroom Paraprofessionals Paraprofessionals, or paras as they are most commonly called, have very important roles in and out of the classroom. They assist special needs students with a variety of tasks and routines throughout the school day. However, according to Giangreco, the common misconception teachers have is that the paraprofessional and special educator will handle most of the planning, adapting, supervision, and instruction. All I need to do is be a gracious host (Giangreco, 2003). This way of thinking can cause tension between the para and the classroom teacher. Sure, paras are in the classroom for the special ed kids, but teachers are in the classroom for all students. They should not ignore the students with disabilities just because there is a para in the room who s job it is to handle these students. Para s are in classrooms to assist the children with their learning, not take the role of the teacher. Another common misconception, this one from the community as a whole, is that aides and paras have the same responsibilities. Aides take the role of a teacher s assistant more so than a para. Aides are in the classroom to help keep the chaos to a minimum, organize the classroom, and make copies for a lesson. Paras on the other hand, are trained professionals that modify curriculum, implement behavior management plans, and provide one on one instruction for the students with special needs (Role). • 35. The Issue Of Insider Outsider In terms of the theoretical issues in qualitative research, the issue of insider outsider has arisen as one of the debated topics for some recent scholars (e.g. Kanuha, 2000; Dwyer and Buckle, 2009). Historically, social researchers commonly agreed with the separation of facts and values and the interdiction on employing values in assessing of truth permit research becoming objective (David and Sutton, 2004:17). Here an objective research refers to researcher objectively eliminate their own gaze in the course or research. In this sense, researchers should be acted as an outsider who common attributes are shared by the research participants. Acknowledged by Fay (1996) that qualitative researchers as not being an insider during research are beneficial in term of assisting the understanding of the researched group, he further proposed that researchers as an outsider might be more sufficiently conceived the experience from the researched, might be more capable to recognise the broader perspective, and might be more obviously to view what is happening, since researchers as an insider are frequently intertwined with their own knowledge (Fay, 1996). Among the three chosen studies, Mandiuc (2014) s study can be considered as an example of outsider researcher since she did not clearly explained whether she has any experiences of motherhood and/or on prostitution. Yet, social researchers nowadays have increasingly deemed that the qualitative researchers should be an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, we have a better grasp of the size and the shape of the problem. More than 200 million child labourers worldwide, some 180 million are now suspected to be toiling in the worst forms of child labour those activities that the global community has unanimously agreed are inexcusable under any circumstances and must be eliminated without de lay. The persistence on such a scale of this violation of children s basic human rights casts a shadow over us all. The past decade has seen an unprecedented convergence of thought and action around this cause, in recognition of the fact that the abolition of child labour is an issue at the heart of social and economic development and not at its margins. The ILO s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) has, over its ten years of existence, become the largest single technical cooperation programme of the Organization. The practice of witchcraft is demonstrated in many societies around the world; however, witchcraft is looked down upon. In this case, two societies in Nepal are significant for the practices and beliefs of witchcraft: the Tibetan Nyinba, and the Kathmandu Village. These two societies believe in witchcraft because of the harmful and malicious practices [witches] hold within these societies. The Tibetan and Kathmandu hold remarkably similar beliefs about witchcraft such as, Women inherit witchery, and is executed though emotional traits and the mind (Gellner, 1994; Levine, 1982). Next, these societies have formed beliefs about witches based on noted practices and stories of witchcraft. To include, another major factor that the Tibetan and Kathmandu believe about witchcraft is the deviance and darkness behind witchery. By comparing these close knit societies, witchcraft in Nepal is believed to be unsettling and harmful among members of the groups. A second document that perfectly personifies the achieving of equality amongst individuals, is from Malcolm X s The Ballot or the Bullet. Malcolm X, like many great orators, uses a number of literary techniques in his speech to persuade the audience of his argument. One example of how Malcolm does this, is seen as he states No, I m not an American. I m one of the 22 million black people who are the victims of Americanism. One of the 22 million black people who are the victims of democracy, nothing but disguised hypocrisy.
