A Survey On Windshield Surveys
Windshield survey Boundaries The boundaries of the windshield surveys consisted of the north to
south areas located between The Gateway Park and 16th street, and west to east areas between 4th
avenue and Arizona. This location is often referred to as Historic Yuma or Old Yuma and contains
many historical buildings. Housing and Zoning The buildings found in this area range from historical
buildings built in the 1900 s to newer homes and commercial buildings. Houses are generally older
with some newer homes scattered throughout the area. The quality of the homes range from
dilapidated to immaculate. Many of the older homes in Old Yuma did not appear to have air
conditioning as doors and windows were left open to circulate air, versus the new homes, which
contained AC units either on top of the roof or on the ground. All homes appeared to have plumbing
and electricity. Homes were generally in close proximity to one another and appeared to have
seemingly small lots. There were several abandoned or boarded up homes in the area. Older motels
and single story apartments were visualized in the area. Closed down and boarded up motels, hotels,
and homes were scattered throughout the area. A homeless shelter was located in a isolated area next
to the railroads and county line. Open spaces There were open lots near the shelter, Gateway Park, and
between residential homes. Many of the lots contained trash and overgrowth. The sidewalks,
highways, and paved/dirt roads were all

Marine Pollution In The Great Barrier Reef
What is Marine Pollution?
Marine pollution is the spreading of harmful substances into the ocean. Oil, carbonic acid and plastics
are harming the marine environment as well as the wide variety of animals and plants within. Marine
pollution is caused by many industrial and domestic activities such as oil spills, garbage dumping,
factory waste disposal and the burning of fossil fuels. A few of the main causes in the great barrier reef
are oil spills, the burning of fossil fuels and general waste.Fossil fuels affect the reefs by the carbon
dioxide from the fossil fuels accumulates in the atmosphere. As carbon dioxide enters the ocean, it
reacts with the seawater to form carbonic acid. The carbonic acid harms oysters, mussels and clams,
floating marine snail as well as the coral reefs all of which are significant to the marine food webs.
The oils spills can kill the animals or delay their reproduction, growth and development. The entire
reef ecosystem can suffer from an oil spill, affecting the many species of fish, crabs, and other marine
animals that live in and around the coral reefs.
Who is involved with Marine Pollution?

on Australia s north eastern coast. It stretches 2,300km along Queensland s coastline, beginning at the
top of Cape York Peninsula in the north and traveling all the way down to Bundaberg in the south. The
Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef ecosystem on earth, representing about 10% of all the world

Sustainability
Sustainability
The Brundtland report (named after Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland, the youngest person and first women
ever to hold the office of Prime Minister of Norway, who spearheaded the initiative which ultimately
led to the earth Summit in 1992), published in 1987 by the United Nation s World Commission on
Environment and Development, defined sustainable development as Meeting the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs . Sustainability has
been used more in the sense of human sustainability on planet Earth. At the 2005 World Summit it was
noted that this requires the reconciliation of environmental, social and economic demands the three

This simple bit of innovation led to significant savings in shipping costs as well as shelf space for the

Natural Capitalism is another crucial component of sustainability. Maria Stamas, analyst at Rocky
Mountain Institute (an American organization dedicated to sustainability, working with more than 80
fortune 500 companies) and strong proponent of Natural Capitalism explains the principles behind the
concept, Natural Capitalism is about productive use of resources, biomimicry (modeling
manufacturing process on biological ones), reinvesting in natural capital (business and government
should invest in sustainable agriculture), and service based economy. People want hot showers and
cold beer; they don t care about how these services are produced. In other words it is not essential that
we use fossil fuels to create the showers and drinks. Instead we can create more efficient processes
and use renewable energy technologies to power them. The Kyoto Protocol, a set of international
courtesy rules introduced at the Earth Summit in 1992, was one of the biggest steps taken in the
direction towards reducing carbon emissions in industrialized countries. This protocol aimed at a five
pronged approach: commitment (towards reduction of greenhouse gases), implementation (of clean
mechanisms), minimizing impact (on developing countries), integrity (through accounting, reporting
and review) and compliance (through

How Culture Affects Financial Reporting And Auditing With...
Abstract In today s society, the international trading constitutes an increasingly significant portion of
the world economy than ever before. Having opened more subsidiaries in different countries and
invested in foreign markets, companies and investors are more exposed to problems reading
accounting records and auditing reports composed under different accounting principles. To better
understand the reason behind the accounting diversity, we need to dig into countries different cultural
background which imposes great influence on formation of accounting and auditing principles and
ways people practice. This paper will analyze how culture affects financial reporting and auditing with
the support of classic culture theories and facts. Introduction International accounting, a term given
birth by modern society, is a concept which encompasses all function areas of various accounting
principles and practices followed by every nation in the world. The international accounting consists
of three different levels. First level is the supranational level which signifies principles, standards and
guidelines of accounting, auditing and taxation issued by supranational organizations such as UN,
OECD and IFA (International accounting, Timothy and Hector, 2011, P1). The second level is the
company level which denotes the principles and techniques that people follow to report transactions
and evaluate foreign companies performance. The third level, the broadest one, can be viewed as the

The Mayflower Rebellion
The first Pilgrims in America set sail from England on the Mayflower in September 1620. More than
100 people were aboard the ship, many of them seeking religious freedom in the New World. In
November the ship landed on the shores of Cape Cod which in present day would be called
Massachusetts. The intended destination was near the Hudson River in Virginia, an already established
colony. They sent out a search party toward the end of December to look for the group of passengers
but the pilgrims had landed at Plymouth Harbor by mistake.
Originally there was another ship that set sail along with the Mayflower called the Speedwell. The
smaller vessel was not able to make the journey so it returned to port by September. A few important
people travelled on the Mayflower including Myles Standish, a soldier who became the military leader
of the new colony. Also, William Bradford whom founded the Plymouth Colony and was the leader of
the Separatist congregation. The Mayflower Compact was signed by 41 men while they were still on
the Mayflower. The document would become the foundation of the new colony s government. ...

Soon after a long voyage of 65 days the ship finally reached the shores of Cape Cod. Most of the
settlers lived on the Mayflower and used a ferry to take passengers back and forth while building their
new storage and homes. The original settlers are buried on what is now called Burial Hill but was
originally the home to the first fort and water tower. The first winter was very bad and many did not
survive due to the pilgrims not having enough food and warm living areas. John Carver, the first
governor was one of the many who died during the winter. In 1621, William Bradford took over as
governor and was reelected more than 30

College Tuition Benefit Analysis
Imagine somebody having just graduated from high school, and they are trying to get into a college,
but they don t have to much say as to which college they go to because many students cannot afford to
go to a nice college let alone a cheap college. For some people it s harder to imagine, but for others
that is the life that they are living right now. According to the College Board of Education tuition has
increased by 8.6% since 2012, meanwhile average household incomes have only increased by 2.23%.
The following tuition increase trend is becoming a serious threat to American society, and must be
slowed down. At this rate families will soon have no hope of ever paying for college debt. Many
people want to blame the government to contributing greatly to the recent increase in tuition by saying
there used to be a plethora of public funding opportunities for colleges, but that they were then all
slashed. This is not even close to the reality of the situation. While people did use to be able to pay
tuition out of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this may seem like a good thing, this too has its own cons. With the rising amount of
money given out in financial aid colleges are making less net revenue which is making it hard to fund
better educational avenues for students. Colleges are also giving some students in need a discounted
price for tuition, and it has increased to almost 48.6% of freshman who receive these discounts (Redd,
Upper Limits). This leads to even more struggle for colleges to meet demands. Small and mid size
colleges are having the most difficult time with this trend, their net revenue is having trouble
increasing proportionally to their student increase. They should be increasing their revenue by about
2% every year (Redd, Upper

Mechanism Of The Electoral College
The electoral college is the mechanism established by the United States constitution for the indirect
election of the president of the United States and Vice president. The electoral college was created was
created because the founding fathers were afraid a tyrant could manipulate the system. Because a state
s electoral votes are equal to its representatives plus its two senators, and every state has two senators,
the electoral college gives excessive weight to states with small populations.
The Constitution assigns each state a number of electors that equals to the combined total of the state s
Senate and House of Representatives. The number of electoral votes per state is equal to the number of
its senators plus the number of its individuals

Comparison In Society In Fahrenheit 451 And Today s Society
Comparison in societies in Fahrenheit 451 and today s society Fahrenheit 451 has a great deal of
government control, technology that is advanced it is injurious to the society and the people there, and
that censorship has been a terrible thing for the people. Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 reveals how
the society, which is a dystopia can be detrimental with more government control, and how censorship
blinds the people in the society, and how technology gets to advanced it can be a inimical thing and
how it has been shown or not shown in today s society.
Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopia that has too much government control, technology that is used to blind
the people in the society so that nobody questions anything about what is going wrong in it. Also, the
technology is advanced by a metallic hound that hunts and captures criminals. He also manages to
incinerate the Mechanical Hound, but not before he is injured by it. . This one example of how the
advanced technology is harming the society. The Hounds are programmed to capture or kill people
who are caught violating this law. They also deceive people with fancy new technology, such as giant
TVs that are installed into the wall it keeps them from questioning or think about their life and
everything that goes on. This is the main reason why people do not see anything wrong with the
dystopia, they are in because the government explains that the books are full of false ideas such as

Gender Expectations In Of Mice And Men

Gender Roles
In life many people have gender expectations such as women should stay home and clean the house,
take care of the kids, cook, etc. For men they have the expectation to work hard to pay the bills and
put food on the table. The book Raisin in the Sun and Of Mice and Men, many characters catch this
stereotypical energy. In today s generation people see society expecting a certain gender to do certain
things everyday. For an example, in the book Of Mice and Men, Crooks stated, Candy s face had
grown redder and redder, but before she was done speaking, he had control of himself. He was the
master of the situation. I might of knew, he said gently. Maybe you just better go along an roll your
hoop. We ain t got nothing to say to you at all. We know what we got, and we don t care whether you
know it or not. This shows that Crooks thought that he was weak because he wasn t able to shoot the

How Did Colonial Society Change In The 18th Century
By the 18th century the colonial society changed drastically. As the population increased the economic
and social system changed. With the new forms of trade colonies were able to implement commodity
money to obtain goods.Let alone, by the 18th century, colonies had different types of government as
well as different commodity money creating some conflicts between the colonies commerce.
Furthermore, there were three types of political system among the thirteen colonies. Such as the
provincial colonies, the proprietary colonies, and the charter colonies. In addition, society also
experienced some changes. For example, before the 18th century women had less power in their

matter of fact, religion separated people based on their class status.White people with money would

God, but they separated people based on their social status. The American Yawp mentioned the first
group against slavery known as the Quakers, who believed on the equality of all human souls. By

Review Of The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Stories about quests are common tales told throughout history and in many different cultures. All
quest stories follow the same pattern and have the same archetypes. The first stage in a quest is the call
to adventure or the protagonist s separation from his or her daily life. The next stage is the , threshold
stage. After threshold is initiation or loss and the final stages are, the ultimate boon and return. Within
every quest, there is also some lesson to be learned by the protagonist. The Epic of Gilgamesh, a story
written thousands of years ago by the ancient Sumerians, follows the same archetypes as any modern
day quest story. Gilgamesh begins his quest when he is separated from his normal life in Uruk and

This first stage shows shows a lot about ancient Sumerian spiritual culture. First, it shows that the
ancient Sumerians were a polytheistic society. Their creator god is a female which shows that females
were respected enough to hold a position of power. This was most likely because they can create life.
Their belief system in gods and goddesses also shows that people believed that the gods could change
their society and the daily lives of people. However, Enkidu and Gilgamesh unintended friendship also
shows that the ancient Sumerians believed that their deities couldn t control every facet of life. As the
epic continues, Gilgamesh and Enkidu succeed on their mission to kill the demon Humbaba. Humbaba

Tokyo started from a small fishing village to one of the greatest and largest cities of the world today
and throughout their history, the Japanese have respected nature. Japan is home to a variety of animals
such as bears, wild boar, foxes, deer, antelope, hares, monkeys, and raccoon dogs. One of the animals
that is an important figures in Japanese mythology and folktales is the Japanese macaque. Japanese
macaques are large, shaggy haired monkeys with pink faces and short furry tails. The national bird of
Japan is Tancho or red crowned crane and the national flower is a chrysanthemum. Another Japanese
symbol is their very own flag that is a rectangle with a large red circle in the center, which represents
the sun. Japan is known as the Land of the Rising Sun. Throughout ancient Japanese history Samurai
carried the symbol of the Rising Sun in the twelfth century during the feud between the Taira and
Minamoto clans. Another part of Japanese prideful culture is its very own anthem, the Kimigayo. The

Water In Crime And Punishment
Dostoevsky is a very religious writer and found that calling after he was released from jail. Each and
every one of his characters and symbols in the novel Crime and Punishment will find their way and
their own calling with the use of religion to guide the way. He used his own personal beliefs and
teaching of symbolism to lead the characters in their personal progression. There are several instances
where nature is used as symbolism such as water. Water has represented multiple things in this novel
from rebirth to death whether it was revirginizing yourself or death by suicide or murder water makes
a prominent appearance in this novel. Another symbol that is used in this novel is a cross. The cross

While the extraordinary have the right to commit all sorts of crimes and in various ways to transgress
the law, because in point of fact they are extraordinary. This is the argument that Raskolnikov uses to
practically foil his homicidal plans. The idea of extraordinary men vs. ordinary men pushes him to
stop to pick up the opportunity to distinguish himself from the rest of the ordinary men and women of
Saint Petersburg. He must overstep his moral and ordinary means and cross the boundaries to see if he
is truly something extraordinary, but only history can tell that. The key to these extraordinary
expectations is that these crimes have to be fulfilled to reach this status. Unfortunately, in Raskolnikov
s case, this argument does not apply to the murder of the pawnbroker and Lizaveta. This argument
fails as Raskolnikov starts to explain why he murdered the pawnbroker to Sonia, he attempted to find
some sort of explanation or show some progress because of the murder. To have the murder be
justified, someone or something would have had to be sacrificed for the good of something or
someone else but in this case Raskolnikov has not grown in any way, shape, or form as he says he has
simply killed a louse, a useless, loathsome, harmless creature. As we believed before, he has failed to

Edward II Film Analysis
Christopher Marlowe s Edward II was published around 1594 and in 1991 Derek Jarman produced a
film adaptation under the same title. Though these two works were produced almost four hundred
years apart, many of the themes and aesthetics from the original are able to shine through a modern
lense. The film successfully utilizes many of the original themes, motifs and characters as well as the
plot without producing a carbon copy of the play. Jarman s ability to successfully transform the text to
fit the socio political climate of his time is what sets this adaptation apart from similar works. The film
adaptation of Edward II pays homage to its roots, and yet manages to set itself apart as an independent
work of art.
Though Jarman s film is modernized, it successfully borrows political and cultural themes of the early
modern period. One of the political themes that it borrows is the idea of a ruling party deciding whom
one can be in love with. In an article analyzing various works from Christopher Marlowe, author Mark
Hutchings talks about the idea of effeminate rulers who neglect their duties are challenged and
overthrown. (Hutchings, Marlowe s Greekish strumpet ). During the early modern period, the nobility
was content with homosexual relationship if it did not interfere with their agenda. This is what is
reflected in the play when the nobles are trying to rid the kingdom of Gaveston, but not get rid of
Edward. While the original play serves to warn against distracted

209 Complex Number System
Task #3: SUBDOMAIN 209.3 PRECALCULUS
Competency 209.3.1: Complex Number System
Jennifer Moore
Western Governor s University
Complex does not mean complicated (Math is Fun, 2014). Complex means a combination of numbers.
These combinations of numbers that form a complex number consists of real numbers and imaginary
numbers. The complex number system is an extension of the real number system because it introduces
the imaginary number system to the real number system. The complex number system can be
visualized in two dimensions and the numbers within the system can be plotted using a Cartesian
plane. However, the axes are not exactly the same as a traditional Cartesian plane (x axis and y axis).
To plot the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The real number system consists of five subsets of numbers (Blitzer, 2013). The first subset is natural
numbers; natural numbers consist of positive counting numbers not including zero. The second subset
is whole numbers; whole numbers consist of zero and natural numbers. The third subset is integers;
integers are positive and negative whole numbers, as well as zero. The fourth subset is rational
numbers; rational numbers are numbers that can be written in fraction form. The fifth and last subset
is irrational numbers; irrational numbers are numbers that are not a perfect square, do not have a
repeating or terminating decimal, and are not included in the whole numbers subset (Blitzer, 2013).
Rational and irrational numbers are often the most difficult to understand out of these 5 subsets of real
numbers. Simply put, rational numbers are any numbers that can be re written as a simple fraction,
and if a number cannot be defined as rational then it is defined as irrational. For example, the number
7 is a rational number because it can be re written as , which is a simple fraction. The number 2.5 is
also defined as rational because it can be re written as , which, again, is a simple fraction. However, if
the number π were defined, it would have to be irrational since it has neither a repeating decimal nor a
terminating decimal, and cannot be written as a simple fraction.

Parabola In Angry Birds
Introduction
What is Angry Birds ? Angry Birds is a mobile video game that was released in December, 2012. It
was first released as a game, but as the game gained popularity, the Angry Bird company started
media, merchandise, and park industries. In the game Angry Birds , players use a slingshot to launch
the birds where the target, the green pigs are. If a player killed the pigs until using the last bird, then
that stage of the game is completed, and the player can move on to the next level and can receive a
rate of maximum three stars. However, if the pigs are not killed are not killed until the player runs out
of the bird, then that level is failed, and have to do it again until they succeed the level. At the

To begin with, in the Angry Birds game, laws of motion should be understood. In the laws of motion,
there are three concepts, where the first one is that unless an object, which is the bird, is affected by
other force, it has constant velocity. Second, acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. In
this game, the acceleration varies depending on how much force a player puts when stretching the
bird. Although the force a player can put is various, the player would generally use the full force since
the green pig is not at a close distance. Lastly, the other law is that for every force, the reaction force is
equal in opposite direction. Adding on to the laws of motion, gravity is involved, which is why the
motion of the birds is parabolic. If there was no gravity in this game, the birds would not be able to

The Rules Of Oppression By Friedrich Nietzsche
The Rules of Oppression For this assignment, I was asked to create an essay demonstrating my
knowledge from the semester, by elaborating on the topics discussed in class on philosophers of
morality. The philosopher that maximized my attention was Friedrich Nietzsche. Per Internet
Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Nietzsche wrote on on truth, morality, language, aesthetics, cultural
theory, history, nihilism, power, consciousness, and the meaning of existence. (Wilkerson) Nietzsche s
work on morality, titled Master and Slave Morality implemented questions I have pondered in regards
to the choice of who controls power in the world, because it is often that those control power assumed
their position by bullying those who pose a threat, thus inciting an inferior feeling. A question that
reoccurred while studying Nietzsche was how do the people who are forced in to his master/slave
complex break free of their master s grips? The answer to my question is also in Nietzsche s work, and
is titled Transvaluation of Values. Transvaluation of Values occurs when the slave class over throws or
resists their masters, (a flip in power structure) therefore those who are placed in the roll of slaves due
to their values, and beliefs will continue to break free of their oppression, because of the opportunity
named Transvaluation of Values. Within my class room we defined The Master and Slave Morality
System as classifying people in to two categories: master, and slave. Other names for the

Correlational Method
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the correlational method as a means for examining the
relationship between functions of the left and right hemispheres. I will compare the performance of
people with intact brains with the performance of so called split brain patients. In many ways, the
brains of these two groups are very similar. 1a. The location of the brainstem in the normal brain is
near the lower back of the brain, where the cerebrum and spinal cord connect. The brainstem is
separated into three parts. One is the midbrain, which regulates temperature, and is a part of vision,
hearing, motor movement, sleep cycles, and alertness. Next is the pons, which controls sleep,
respiration, the bladder, hearing, taste, posture, and facial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, future investigations may need to adopt techniques that improve upon those used here. 5a.
Since brain function is lateralized between the two hemispheres of the brain, normal patients should
display a greater relationship between functions usually occurring in the left hemisphere and those
performed by the right hemisphere. So in split brain patients, the relationship between hemispheres
performing tasks that require to different hemispheres of the brain would be much weaker. The
correlational analysis is consistent with the hypothesis because the correlation coefficients for normal
brain patients are much higher than the correlation coefficient coefficients for split brain patients when
each group performed tasks that required two different hemispheres of the brain. 5b. All the results
readily fit the hypothesis. 5c. To improve the correlational study, a researcher should increase the
sample size and include more tasks, such as mathematical calculations, reading skills, and creativity,
to further test each hemisphere in the brain for both types of patients. 5d. Correlational studies should
not be used to test hypotheses because they cannot verify whether or not one variable causes another.
Correlation is not the same as causation, since the results have a likelihood to be due to chance.
Experiments allow us to manipulate and isolate variables to ensure causation. 5e. Another experiment
that can be used to test our hypotheses would be to take four cognitive tests such as math problems,
family facial recognition, music recognition, and a reading test first covering the left eye and then the
right eye for a group of normal patients and split brain patients to test their abilities. I think the normal
patients will do far better in all the tests than the split brain

Social Disorganization Theory And Cultural Deviance Theory
As criminologist continue research on the sociological theories as it relates to the social structure,
social process and the impact of social life. There is still room to compare and contrast the social
structure theories that include social disorganization theory, strain theories and cultural deviance
theory. The social disorganization theory was first referenced with the displacement among
immigrants. Scholars believed this was due to the immigrants inability to transfer norms and values
from their first homes in the old country to the new culture. It was the ideology and values along with
the competition for dominance of the concepts and beliefs that became the foundation for the

for criminals to decrease the risk of crime in the nucleus of high crime neighborhoods. In the social
structure theory the strain principle is addressed. It deals with the pressure that individuals encounter
when attempting to reach socially determined goals (Schmalleger, 2012). In the field of criminology
the strain theory is associated with resulting to deviant behavior as a way to solve the frustrations of
social environment. The term anomie was used by Robert Merton in the strain theory as the condition

anomie was first introduced by Emile Durkheim in 1897. Durkheim associated the term anomie and
normlessness or deregulation which progresses to deviant behavior, because of decreased proper
control over actions. These practices cause people to struggle with their position in society and
making adjustments to life (Schmalleger, 2012). Merton expounded on the anomie concept where

steps to consolidate her rule. A document dated July 26 44 BC, Ptolemy XIV s name appeared, but
after that date he disappeared many say that Cleopatra ordered for him to be poisoned and it is notable
that around this time she dropped the epithet brother loving from her titles. Cleopatra confirmed her
son by Julius Caesar, Caesarion, co regent. Cleopatra also continued to build the Caesareum in honor
of Caesar. In Dendera, Caesarion was depicted in front of images of Cleopatra, asserting him as the

Dihybrid Cross Lab Report
Discussion (1226 words)
From dihybrid test crosses, map distances of 0.69 m.u. between purple and apterous, 5.71 m.u.
between black and purple, and 7.56 m.u. between black and apterous genes were determined. The
calculated map distances of 0.69 and 5.71 between more closely linked genes are consistent with
published distances of 0.7 and 6 map units respectively. Inconsistencies between published data and
calculated map distances in regards to larger map distances, such as between black and apterous
genes, are due to the nature of dihybrid test crosses. The greater distance between black and apterous
genes increases the likelihood of multiple crossovers. Double crossovers are unaccounted for in
dihybrid crosses, thus resulting in RF and map ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, more accurate RF and map distances are generated from trihybrid crosses. Moreover, double
recombinants are useful in determining gene order in trihybrid crosses. The simultaneous derivation of
map distances and gene order from a single cross signify the efficiency of trihybrid crosses.
Limitations of this method of gene mapping decrease accuracy of data (Hartwell et al. 2004). The map
generated from dihybrid crosses does not directly translate to the physical location of genes on a
chromosome. While gene order is maintained, map distances may not correlate with distances on
chromosomes. This is because DNA between genes does not always correspond with map units, and
due to multiple crossovers which are unaccounted for in trihybrid crosses. This increases inaccuracy
of data, especially between more separated genes. Further, the 50% RF limit leads to less detailed
measurements of distances on chromosomes. As recombination does not occur more than 50% of the
time, genes further apart on chromosomes cannot be accurately mapped. However, a more accurate
map can be established through adding smaller distances.
Emerging techniques facilitate genetic mapping in humans (Altshuler et al. 2008). Genome wide
association studies through mapping single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are useful in identifying
loci associated with disease susceptibility. SNPs are common genetic variations which

Similarities Between Shinto And Shinto Religion
Of the many religions in the world, none are quite as unique as Shintoism. Shinto, meaning the way of
the kami , is the indigenous religion of Japan. It is believed to have existed since the 6th century
B.C.E. However, there is no documented origin nor is there an established founder. At the center of the
Shinto religion is devotion toward various kami and the rituals performed to please them. It does not
attempt to explain existence or the afterlife. Instead, Shintoism focuses on interactions with kami and
life presently. Unlike most Western religions, there is no all powerful god/gods in Shintoism. All

throughout the country and even in most Japanese homes. Dissimilarly to other religions, there is no

The Most Important Importance Of Plants In Our Society
The importance of plants is often overlooked by the general public. They don t realize when they eat,
wear, or build something that none of it would be possible without plants. Complex life itself only
exists thanks to the evolution of plants. Throughout this essay, I hope to highlight some of the most
important aspects of plants including their ecological roles, historical roles, source of food, medicinal
uses, spices, erosion control, soil contribution, and many others. The list of plant importance could go
on and on forever, but these seem to play the most pertinent role in our society. Plants provide many
products that benefit other organisms and their environments. Perhaps one of the most important roles
of the plant is photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which light energy is converted into a
usable form. Of this energy obtained by the plant, ten percent is passed on through each level of the
trophic chain, and the rest is given off as heat. This theory is known as the 10% Law. The process of
photosynthesis also consumes carbon dioxide, and releases oxygen as a byproduct. This is arguably
one of the most important functions of plants, because oxygen is such a vital ingredient to life on
Earth. With their oxygen producing capabilities, plants have been coined as, The Lungs of the Earth .
Another benefit that plants provide to their ecosystems that has only been discovered since an increase
in human pollution is their detoxification potential. Many plants

The Political Reform Of A Democracy Essay
The basis of a democracy goes back as far as 507 B.C. It was introduced by Ancient Athens first
leader Cleisthenes. His primary mean was to ensure equality among his people; however, Cleisthenes
equality declaration only spread so far and accomplished so much. Only forty thousand men over the
age of eighteen were allowed to be part of Athens political affairs. This Athenian democracy was
separated into three parts: the ekklesia a sovereign governing body that wrote laws and dictated
foreign policy; the boule a council of representatives from the ten Athenian tribes; and the dikasteria
the popular courts in which citizens argued cases before a group of lottery selected jurors. Cleisthenes
democracy only survived for two centuries. However, his political reform of a democracy is one of
Ancient Greece s best contributions to the entire world. Democracy is defined as a form of
government in which the supreme power is vested in the people, and exercised directly by them or by
their elected agents under a free electoral system. It is also defined as a state of democracy
characterized by formal equality of rights at privileges. In short terms, a democracy is ran for the
people, by the people. It is primarily focused on the equality among people, and those same people are
able to control who holds the power in their economy. We, the United States, run as a democracy.
Though, the electoral votes are those that are only accounted for in the election, our vote

D-Day The Invasion Of Normandy Essay
The Battle of Normandy was a turning point in World War II. Canada, America, and Great Britain
arrived at the beaches of Normandy and their main objective was to push the Nazi s out of France. The
Invasion at Normandy by the Allied Powers winning this battle lead to the liberation of France and
Western Europe. Most importantly Hitler was being attacked from both the eastern and western front,
and caused him to lose power. If the Allied Powers did not succeed On D Day, Hitler would ve taken
over all of Europe. In a document written by General Dwight Eisenhower he persuades the allied
powers to invade Normandy. Dwight Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890. Eisenhower became

Nazi s had occupied France at the time and had taken control. France was part of the allied forces and
was under attack by the Nazi s. As part of the Allied Powers America, Canada, and Great Britain came
to the rescue. Dwight Eisenhower was the leader behind this invasion. In December 1943, Eisenhower
was put in charge of Operation Overlord the long waited for attack on mainland Europe. Such an
attack would require detailed and meticulous planning which is why Eisenhower was picked to lead
this plan by the combined chief of staffs. In excerpts from General Eisenhower s document the Order
of The Day which he gave to the soldiers on D Day he states In company with our brave Allies and
brothers in arms on other fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the
elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free
world. / But this is the year 1944!/The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching
together to victory! I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will
accept nothing less than full victory!(Eisenhower 1944). General Eisenhower explains that the allies
should come together, and they will bring forth destruction upon the Germans. He also states that in
the document they will force the Nazi s out of Europe and France will be freed. Eisenhower

A Study On The Concord Waterfall
Grenada is one of the islands in the Caribbean that has the potential to capture both local and foreign
markets in terms of Eco, Health and Wellness Tourism, but there are some challenges that have ensued
in establishing this product on the market. This study is mainly based on the principles of
................................ and how it can be applied or is applied to the Concord Waterfall which is the
focus of my study. The Concord Waterfall is an ideal location to invest in the area of eco, health and
wellness tourism.
Presently, in the Caribbean region health and wellness sector has an estimated value of USD 180
million. Although the health and wellness sector has the ability to contribute significantly to the region
s development, it is still due to the lack of integrated strategies among the Caribbean countries to cater
to the development of this sector of the countries. To compare, Thailand s export of health and beauty
products in 2005 was estimated at $8.72 million USD according to Department of Export Promotion
while the Spa industry generated a staggering $155 million USD in revenue increasing year on year
(Tourism Intelligence International (TII) 2009). This trend stands to be the most compelling argument
for pursuing Wellness Tourism development in Grenada who is geographically much closer to the
significant USA and UK markets and speak the same language. (Russell, 2013)
Given spa and wellness service s strong historical foundation and broadening scope, this niche may

President Richard Nixon s Political Scandal
The Richard Nixon Assignment
United States President Richard Nixon was involved in a major political scandal during the 1970s that
resulted from a break in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters. The scandal was known
as the Watergate scandal. The scandal was called Watergate because it occurred at the Watergate office
complex in Washington, D.C. Nixon and his administration attempted to cover up the scandal, but the
scandal was discovered and investigated by Congress. The scandal comprised of illegal activities such
as bugging of offices, ordering investigations of activist groups and political figures with the use of
the FBI, CIA, and IRS. There were several abuses of power during the scandal and the results of the
scandal and investigation were indictment of sixty nine individuals and Richard Nixon resigning his
office as President of the United States.

The assignment also asked us to determine a baseline or steady tone that was contrasted by pitch or
different vocal pitch. After listening to nearly all of the tapes and reading the transcripts, if I were an
investigator, I would have to say yes there was a clear difference in Nixon s vocal patterns in nearly all
of the tapes that I listened to. During normal conversations that didn t deal with business, his tone
seemed very relaxed, but when questions of the scandal or blackmail came up his voice got louder and
his tone was in my opinion that of an angry, defensive, or frustrated individual. His tone jumped from
relaxed and calm to higher pitches and defensive throughout all of the

The Early Childhood Education Of Literacy And Numeracy
Introduction Literacy and numeracy are the most vital skills for any individual in modern society. The
early childhood education of literacy and numeracy is of great importance to not only intellectual
growth but also to emotional and social development in later years. Literacy is one of the fundamental
ability for one to be able to make sense of text, signs, books, and modern technologies. Numeracy
includes aspects such as number sense, computation, measurement, and geometry, which are all vital
to one s daily and professional life. The first few years of one s life is the key period to establish
literacy and numeracy as one s brain development is at its peak in this period, and the better the
foundation of literacy and numeracy is, the more likely one is going to successful in academic and
social performance in later years. Also as a social experience, literacy and numeracy education is
greatly influenced by one s social environment, or in early childhood settings, one s family
environment. Bronfenbrenner s (1979) ecological systems theory is the foundation of ecological and
sociocultural guideline of literacy and numeracy education in early childhood settings. The theory are
essentially a set of interconnected and yet isomorphic layers of systems that affect the development of
the children from a social aspect, e.g. the microsystem describes the interaction between the carer and
the child, mesosystem describes the interactions between the family and the teacher,

Cinematic Techniques In Rear Window
Rear Window One of the the most important elements of Rear Window, and a very clever tactic used
by Hitchcock in Rear Window is realism. Ever Since I watch Alfred Hitchcock Rear Window, there is
one thing that I wanted to talk about, the film sense of realism, there is couple element that make this
whole film feel so real. Throughout the film, the cinematographer uses shots of panning and zooming
to make it ever more realistic and makes it seem like the audience are viewing this whole film from
the eyes of the main character L.B. Jeff. The perspective was never change, it is walys constantly
limited, as L.B. is in his wheelchair, there are many part of the film, due to the viewing is being
limited, we are asked to draw our own conclusion, and it also makes us more involved, and feels like
we are somehow really in the movie. However, with the help of the binocular and his camera lenses,
both L.B. and the spectator could get a better look at something. But even through the binocular and
camera lenses, there is still a good use of limited viewing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only does the lighting tells us the tone of the film, but it also provides a psychoanalytic aspect of
the film, through lighting we are told when to be scared , when to be fearful, and when to be anxious.
It also uses a lot of shadow effect to help the audience to see what is part is visible either from L.B.
apartment looking into his neighbor s apartment, or the way around. Nearly at the final scene, when
L.B. is spying at Mr. Thorwald, he hurry up turn his light off to prevent Thorwald from seeing himself,
it is just exactly what we do in real life when we did not want anyone to see us. In final scene when
Thorwald tries to kill L.B., L.B. uses camera flash to protect himself, as he flash his camera light, the
screen turns red for a second, it makes us feel that we are in Thorwald position, really feel like we got

Hence these changes were not the outcome of internal changes but of external changes. Deregulation
has opened up new opportunities for banks to increase revenues by diversifying into investment
banking, insurance, credit cards, mortgage financing, depository services, securitization, etc. Now all
the banks have started with the concept of multi channels, like ATMs, credit cards, debit cards,
telephone/mobile banking, internet banking, call centers, etc. The role of banking is redefined from a
mere financial intermediary to service provider of various financial services under one roof acting like
a financial supermarket. International Journal of Management and Strategy ISSN: 2231 0703

Underlying forces for change Developments in communication systems, coupled with blurring of
differences between banks and non banks and globalization have aggravated the competitive
environment. Technology became a key differentiator for the new private sector banks. The
technological superiority helped these private sector banks to have upper edge over public sector
banks. The traditional source of income (Net Interest margin = Interest Earned Interest Expended) was

Medical Ethics Case Study
Introduction
Professionals in every field are always confronted with some kind of ethical issues. It has however
been noted that these ethical issues become high in magnitude and extent when public officials are
involved. Due to the involvement of human life, an industry like healthcare holds ethics in highest
regard. Even though these healthcare practitioners are highly trained to deal with issues of these kinds,
their decisions can sometimes have a lasting impact on their professional and personal lives (Edwards
2009).
The general awareness among patients on their rights during a medical procedure often conflict with
the morals of the healthcare industry. Many times healthcare professionals are caught between ...

Yeo (2010) point out that the possibility to retain some information from patients has been ordered for
long in Australian law, as in other countries for the benefit of the patient. This has now been combined
with the greater autonomy acknowledged to the patient in many jurisdictions. Although a clinical
approach reveals that loyalty should guide the patient physician relationship, there are still some
situations in which information consent and truth telling may be controversial: in some circumstances,
the physician should or may not tell the truth. The case at hand poses a dilemma regarding the right to
know (Cherry Jacob 2008).
There are a number of key elements that help to provide a framework that enhances truthful
communication. Firstly, there is the need to develop open and honest communication from the very
beginning of the patient health professional relationship. Secondly, the health professional needs to
use patient penchant as a weigh by asking them what they wish to know, how much they wish to
know, and determining what they already know. In other words, it is a responsibility of the health
professional to get a feel for the situation, including the patients perception of the situation (Ashcroft,
Dawson Drape 2007).
However, in the patient physician relationship, two autonomies are

Pros And Cons Of The President Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson was elected as President of the United States because the American people saw him
as a man for the people. His leadership during the Battle of New Orleans gave him the respect of
wealthy businessmen, and his worker roots gain the support of those who were struggling to carve
their own a comfortable and suitable position. The duty of the President is to watch over the people by
vetoing bills, making treaties, enforcing the nation s laws, and is the Commander in Chief of the
armed forces. President Andrew Jackson should not have been impeached because he did all these
things for the good of the people. All of his actions and parts he played in bank wars, nullification
crisis, and native american removal were constitutional. Overall ... Show more content on

The Bank war started in 1832 when the congress, lead by Henry Clay, renewed the Second National
Bank s charter even though it wasn t meant to expire till 1836. The Second Bank centralized financial
might, jeopardizing economic stability, and it did not answer to anyone within the government. That
partly concerned Jackson because he had no way to control it. Also because of his previous election
experiences, he thought that a bank with that much power could not remain free from the electoral
process. That was one of his reasons for wanting the bank gone, the other was that he saw the national
bank system as corrupt and unjust because it only benefited the elites and was suspected to favor the
wealthy. Jackson knew that if the bank was not shut down the gap between the rich and poor would
keep growing, resulting in an unstable economy. By vetoing the bank s charter, withdrawing the
federal government s deposits from the Bank of the United States, and placing it in state banks called
pet banks he was helping then general people and working for the good of the nation. Taking out
money from the Second National Bank was a clever way to get what he wanted, but he was simply
looking out for the common man. Because the bank only helped the wealthy, a small percentage of the
population, he was taking care of the general people and not letting the priority fall to a minority who

  • 2. A Survey On Windshield Surveys Windshield survey Boundaries The boundaries of the windshield surveys consisted of the north to south areas located between The Gateway Park and 16th street, and west to east areas between 4th avenue and Arizona. This location is often referred to as Historic Yuma or Old Yuma and contains many historical buildings. Housing and Zoning The buildings found in this area range from historical buildings built in the 1900 s to newer homes and commercial buildings. Houses are generally older with some newer homes scattered throughout the area. The quality of the homes range from dilapidated to immaculate. Many of the older homes in Old Yuma did not appear to have air conditioning as doors and windows were left open to circulate air, versus the new homes, which contained AC units either on top of the roof or on the ground. All homes appeared to have plumbing and electricity. Homes were generally in close proximity to one another and appeared to have seemingly small lots. There were several abandoned or boarded up homes in the area. Older motels and single story apartments were visualized in the area. Closed down and boarded up motels, hotels, and homes were scattered throughout the area. A homeless shelter was located in a isolated area next to the railroads and county line. Open spaces There were open lots near the shelter, Gateway Park, and between residential homes. Many of the lots contained trash and overgrowth. The sidewalks, highways, and paved/dirt roads were all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Marine Pollution In The Great Barrier Reef What is Marine Pollution? Marine pollution is the spreading of harmful substances into the ocean. Oil, carbonic acid and plastics are harming the marine environment as well as the wide variety of animals and plants within. Marine pollution is caused by many industrial and domestic activities such as oil spills, garbage dumping, factory waste disposal and the burning of fossil fuels. A few of the main causes in the great barrier reef are oil spills, the burning of fossil fuels and general waste.Fossil fuels affect the reefs by the carbon dioxide from the fossil fuels accumulates in the atmosphere. As carbon dioxide enters the ocean, it reacts with the seawater to form carbonic acid. The carbonic acid harms oysters, mussels and clams, floating marine snail as well as the coral reefs all of which are significant to the marine food webs. The oils spills can kill the animals or delay their reproduction, growth and development. The entire reef ecosystem can suffer from an oil spill, affecting the many species of fish, crabs, and other marine animals that live in and around the coral reefs. Who is involved with Marine Pollution? Many people are to blame for Marine Pollutions in the Great Barrier Reef. Anyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Natural Capitalism is another crucial component of sustainability. Maria Stamas, analyst at Rocky Mountain Institute (an American organization dedicated to sustainability, working with more than 80 fortune 500 companies) and strong proponent of Natural Capitalism explains the principles behind the concept, Natural Capitalism is about productive use of resources, biomimicry (modeling manufacturing process on biological ones), reinvesting in natural capital (business and government should invest in sustainable agriculture), and service based economy. People want hot showers and cold beer; they don t care about how these services are produced. In other words it is not essential that we use fossil fuels to create the showers and drinks. Instead we can create more efficient processes and use renewable energy technologies to power them. The Kyoto Protocol, a set of international courtesy rules introduced at the Earth Summit in 1992, was one of the biggest steps taken in the direction towards reducing carbon emissions in industrialized countries. This protocol aimed at a five pronged approach: commitment (towards reduction of greenhouse gases), implementation (of clean mechanisms), minimizing impact (on developing countries), integrity (through accounting, reporting and review) and compliance (through ... Abstract In today s society, the international trading constitutes an increasingly significant portion of the world economy than ever before. Having opened more subsidiaries in different countries and invested in foreign markets, companies and investors are more exposed to problems reading accounting records and auditing reports composed under different accounting principles. To better understand the reason behind the accounting diversity, we need to dig into countries different cultural background which imposes great influence on formation of accounting and auditing principles and ways people practice. This paper will analyze how culture affects financial reporting and auditing with the support of classic culture theories and facts. Introduction International accounting, a term given birth by modern society, is a concept which encompasses all function areas of various accounting principles and practices followed by every nation in the world. The international accounting consists of three different levels. First level is the supranational level which signifies principles, standards and guidelines of accounting, auditing and taxation issued by supranational organizations such as UN, OECD and IFA (International accounting, Timothy and Hector, 2011, P1). • 8. The Mayflower Rebellion The first Pilgrims in America set sail from England on the Mayflower in September 1620. More than 100 people were aboard the ship, many of them seeking religious freedom in the New World. In November the ship landed on the shores of Cape Cod which in present day would be called Massachusetts. The intended destination was near the Hudson River in Virginia, an already established colony. They sent out a search party toward the end of December to look for the group of passengers but the pilgrims had landed at Plymouth Harbor by mistake. Originally there was another ship that set sail along with the Mayflower called the Speedwell. The smaller vessel was not able to make the journey so it returned to port by September. A few important people travelled on the Mayflower including Myles Standish, a soldier who became the military leader of the new colony. College Tuition Benefit Analysis Imagine somebody having just graduated from high school, and they are trying to get into a college, but they don t have to much say as to which college they go to because many students cannot afford to go to a nice college let alone a cheap college. For some people it s harder to imagine, but for others that is the life that they are living right now. According to the College Board of Education tuition has increased by 8.6% since 2012, meanwhile average household incomes have only increased by 2.23%. The following tuition increase trend is becoming a serious threat to American society, and must be slowed down. At this rate families will soon have no hope of ever paying for college debt. Many people want to blame the government to contributing greatly to the recent increase in tuition by saying there used to be a plethora of public funding opportunities for colleges, but that they were then all slashed. • 11. Comparison In Society In Fahrenheit 451 And Today s Society Comparison in societies in Fahrenheit 451 and today s society Fahrenheit 451 has a great deal of government control, technology that is advanced it is injurious to the society and the people there, and that censorship has been a terrible thing for the people. Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 reveals how the society, which is a dystopia can be detrimental with more government control, and how censorship blinds the people in the society, and how technology gets to advanced it can be a inimical thing and how it has been shown or not shown in today s society. Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopia that has too much government control, technology that is used to blind the people in the society so that nobody questions anything about what is going wrong in it. Also, the technology is advanced by a metallic hound that hunts and captures criminals. He also manages to incinerate the Mechanical Hound, but not before he is injured by it. . This one example of how the advanced technology is harming the society. The Hounds are programmed to capture or kill people who are caught violating this law. They also deceive people with fancy new technology, such as giant TVs that are installed into the wall it keeps them from questioning or think about their life and everything that goes on. This is the main reason why people do not see anything wrong with the dystopia, they are in because the government explains that the books are full of false ideas such as firefighters use to put out fires instead of ... Gender Expectations In Of Mice And Men Justin Millsap Mrs. Wiedman English 3 2 Period 6 20 May, 2018 Gender Roles In life many people have gender expectations such as women should stay home and clean the house, take care of the kids, cook, etc. For men they have the expectation to work hard to pay the bills and put food on the table. The book Raisin in the Sun and Of Mice and Men, many characters catch this stereotypical energy. In today s generation people see society expecting a certain gender to do certain things everyday. For an example, in the book Of Mice and Men, Crooks stated, Candy s face had grown redder and redder, but before she was done speaking, he had control of himself. He was the master of the situation. I might of knew, he said gently. Maybe you just better go along an roll your hoop. We ain t got nothing to say to you at all. We know what we got, and we don t care whether you know it or not. • 16. Summary Of Tchaikovsky s The Nutcracker And Stravinsky Tchaikovsky s The Nutcracker and Stravinsky s Rite of Spring are two of the most influential ballets to ever be recorded. Their ballets have been played and duplicated for many years. I will start this paper with a summary of each composer which will include where they are from culturally, geographically and musically. Then I talk about each ballet. Where it was written, the story behind each piece, and its reception now and its reception at the time it was published. I will also include the popularity of each ballet in other forms such as Disney. Finally, I will provide a detailed concert report of each ballet. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born April 25, 1840, in Votkinsk, Russia. Tchaikovsky was the second of six born children. He started composing when he was four years old. When he was in his teens his mother died. It was at this point that his dad realized that his son had a talent in music. So he sent him off to St. Petersburg Conservatory. Though these two works were produced almost four hundred years apart, many of the themes and aesthetics from the original are able to shine through a modern lense. The film successfully utilizes many of the original themes, motifs and characters as well as the plot without producing a carbon copy of the play. Jarman s ability to successfully transform the text to fit the socio political climate of his time is what sets this adaptation apart from similar works. The film adaptation of Edward II pays homage to its roots, and yet manages to set itself apart as an independent work of art. One of the political themes that it borrows is the idea of a ruling party deciding whom one can be in love with. Although the force a player can put is various, the player would generally use the full force since the green pig is not at a close distance. The Rules Of Oppression By Friedrich Nietzsche The Rules of Oppression For this assignment, I was asked to create an essay demonstrating my knowledge from the semester, by elaborating on the topics discussed in class on philosophers of morality. The philosopher that maximized my attention was Friedrich Nietzsche. Per Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Nietzsche wrote on on truth, morality, language, aesthetics, cultural theory, history, nihilism, power, consciousness, and the meaning of existence. (Wilkerson) Nietzsche s work on morality, titled Master and Slave Morality implemented questions I have pondered in regards to the choice of who controls power in the world, because it is often that those control power assumed their position by bullying those who pose a threat, thus inciting an inferior feeling. A question that reoccurred while studying Nietzsche was how do the people who are forced in to his master/slave complex break free of their master s grips? The answer to my question is also in Nietzsche s work, and is titled Transvaluation of Values. Transvaluation of Values occurs when the slave class over throws or resists their masters, (a flip in power structure) therefore those who are placed in the roll of slaves due to their values, and beliefs will continue to break free of their oppression, because of the opportunity named Transvaluation of Values. I will compare the performance of people with intact brains with the performance of so called split brain patients. In many ways, the brains of these two groups are very similar. 1a. The location of the brainstem in the normal brain is near the lower back of the brain, where the cerebrum and spinal cord connect. The brainstem is separated into three parts. However, future investigations may need to adopt techniques that improve upon those used here. 5a. Since brain function is lateralized between the two hemispheres of the brain, normal patients should display a greater relationship between functions usually occurring in the left hemisphere and those performed by the right hemisphere. So in split brain patients, the relationship between hemispheres performing tasks that require to different hemispheres of the brain would be much weaker. The correlational analysis is consistent with the hypothesis because the correlation coefficients for normal brain patients are much higher than the correlation coefficient coefficients for split brain patients when each group performed tasks that required two different hemispheres of the brain. 5b. All the results readily fit the hypothesis. 5c. To improve the correlational study, a researcher should increase the sample size and include more tasks, such as mathematical calculations, reading skills, and creativity, to further test each hemisphere in the brain for both types of patients. 5d. Correlational studies should not be used to test hypotheses because they cannot verify whether or not one variable causes another. Correlation is not the same as causation, since the results have a likelihood to be due to chance. Experiments allow us to manipulate and isolate variables to ensure causation. 5e. Another experiment that can be used to test our hypotheses would be to take four cognitive tests such as math problems, family facial recognition, music recognition, and a reading test first covering the left eye and then the right eye for a group of normal patients and split brain patients to test their abilities. I think the normal patients will do far better in all the tests than the split brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The map generated from dihybrid crosses does not directly translate to the physical location of genes on a chromosome. While gene order is maintained, map distances may not correlate with distances on chromosomes. This is because DNA between genes does not always correspond with map units, and due to multiple crossovers which are unaccounted for in trihybrid crosses. This increases inaccuracy of data, especially between more separated genes. Further, the 50% RF limit leads to less detailed measurements of distances on chromosomes. As recombination does not occur more than 50% of the time, genes further apart on chromosomes cannot be accurately mapped. However, a more accurate map can be established through adding smaller distances. Emerging techniques facilitate genetic mapping in humans (Altshuler et al. 2008). Genome wide association studies through mapping single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are useful in identifying loci associated with disease susceptibility. SNPs are common genetic variations which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Similarities Between Shinto And Shinto Religion Of the many religions in the world, none are quite as unique as Shintoism. Shinto, meaning the way of the kami , is the indigenous religion of Japan. It is believed to have existed since the 6th century B.C.E. However, there is no documented origin nor is there an established founder. At the center of the Shinto religion is devotion toward various kami and the rituals performed to please them. It does not attempt to explain existence or the afterlife. Instead, Shintoism focuses on interactions with kami and life presently. Unlike most Western religions, there is no all powerful god/gods in Shintoism. All beings (kami or human) are complementary and harmonious with one another. Shinto worship is mainly conducted through ritualistic means. Some of these rituals are performed to gain the favor of specific kami. However, most rituals are performed for spiritual purification to ward off evil kami. Shrines are the primary location where rituals take place. Shrines are built to house one or more kami. It is here that Shintoists may pay respects to specific kami. These shrines can be found throughout the country and even in most Japanese homes. • 38. The Most Important Importance Of Plants In Our Society The importance of plants is often overlooked by the general public. They don t realize when they eat, wear, or build something that none of it would be possible without plants. Complex life itself only exists thanks to the evolution of plants. Throughout this essay, I hope to highlight some of the most important aspects of plants including their ecological roles, historical roles, source of food, medicinal uses, spices, erosion control, soil contribution, and many others. The list of plant importance could go on and on forever, but these seem to play the most pertinent role in our society. Plants provide many products that benefit other organisms and their environments. Perhaps one of the most important roles of the plant is photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which light energy is converted into a usable form. Of this energy obtained by the plant, ten percent is passed on through each level of the trophic chain, and the rest is given off as heat. This theory is known as the 10% Law. The process of photosynthesis also consumes carbon dioxide, and releases oxygen as a byproduct. This is arguably one of the most important functions of plants, because oxygen is such a vital ingredient to life on Earth. With their oxygen producing capabilities, plants have been coined as, The Lungs of the Earth . Another benefit that plants provide to their ecosystems that has only been discovered since an increase in human pollution is their detoxification potential. Many plants ... • 39. The Political Reform Of A Democracy Essay The basis of a democracy goes back as far as 507 B.C. It was introduced by Ancient Athens first leader Cleisthenes. His primary mean was to ensure equality among his people; however, Cleisthenes equality declaration only spread so far and accomplished so much. Only forty thousand men over the age of eighteen were allowed to be part of Athens political affairs. This Athenian democracy was separated into three parts: the ekklesia a sovereign governing body that wrote laws and dictated foreign policy; the boule a council of representatives from the ten Athenian tribes; and the dikasteria the popular courts in which citizens argued cases before a group of lottery selected jurors. Cleisthenes democracy only survived for two centuries. However, his political reform of a democracy is one of Ancient Greece s best contributions to the entire world. Democracy is defined as a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people, and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. It is also defined as a state of democracy characterized by formal equality of rights at privileges. In short terms, a democracy is ran for the people, by the people. It is primarily focused on the equality among people, and those same people are able to control who holds the power in their economy. We, the United States, run as a democracy. Though, the electoral votes are those that are only accounted for in the election, our vote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Second Bank centralized financial might, jeopardizing economic stability, and it did not answer to anyone within the government. That partly concerned Jackson because he had no way to control it. Also because of his previous election experiences, he thought that a bank with that much power could not remain free from the electoral process. That was one of his reasons for wanting the bank gone, the other was that he saw the national bank system as corrupt and unjust because it only benefited the elites and was suspected to favor the wealthy.
