A Research On Sustainable Engineering Building
Sustainable Engineering Building In our world, today we make more and more discoveries every day
and with that new knowledge comes innovation. Since the engineering building was first built in the
late 1890 s, there have been many advances in becoming a more environmentally friendly building. It
is time to transform this historical building into what will be one of the greenest buildings on any
campus in the world. Before the University was Texas A M, it was initially owned and called East
Texas State University. It was not until 1995 that the school was bought by Texas A M. Texas A M
University Commerce was originally established by William L. Mayo at Cooper, Delta County, in
1889. But sadly after five years the school caught fire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toxins have leached out of industry facilities and factories into water supplies such as streams, rivers
and into the world s oceans. Marine and aquatic life has suffered as a result of these poisonous
chemicals contaminating ocean beds, wetlands and marshlands. Once a healthy food source, seafood
and fresh water fish are often dangerous to eat due to mercury and other harmful and deadly chemicals
found in randomly tested fish and seafood. (Painter 2017) Sally brings up an excellent point when the
says that toxins have leached out of facilities and factories because when most think of going green
they think how to save energy. But going green is not just about saving energy; it is about making a
cleaner environment at the same time. What is sustainable design? For the past, the art of creating a
building was much more simple due to the fact that there were not as many requirement on size,
efficiency, and economy. There was not a care in the world on what effects these buildings would have
on the future civilization. But in the world today, the construction industry has become much more
concerned with what the future holds. According to Daniel Vallero and Chris Brasier, sustainable
design or Green Design is Green design encompasses numerous ways to improve processes and
products to make them more efficient from an environmental standpoint. (Vallero, Brasier) In other

Lobster Industry
In Where Have All the Exploiters Gone? Co Management of the Maine Lobster Industry , author
James M. Acheson validates Garret Hardin s logic in Tragedy of the Commons that property rights do
in fact help conserve resources. Acheson also refutes basic principles set forth by Hardin that users of
open access resources have no vested interest in preserving resources over the long term and are
unable to generate regulating mechanisms.
The Maine Lobster fisherman have developed a widely used and accepted territorial system for
regulating access to lobster fishing grounds on the coast of Maine. The system is an informal system
that it is not legislatively created or mandated, but is communally imposed and enforced by the local
fishing communities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fisherman strongly believed that the notching process during culling, which made the sexually
proven females off limits and illegal to harvest in the future, helped in the conservation efforts and
ensured those proven breeding females would be returned to the waters. There they would be legally
protected to continue breeding without danger of being harvested in the future. Studies validated the
local fishermen s theory that females in the population showing spawned eggs were statistically more
likely to breed again and consequently would increase the egg stock in the waters and health of the
lobster populations. The Department of Marine Resources felt that the notching of the females created
conditions for infection of the females at the notch location. However, the Department yielded at the
insistence of the fishermen. There was evidence provided that the practice was in fact helping the
conservation effort. In addition, there was much discussion between the groups of the effectiveness of
conservation efforts such as minimum harvest size, trap limits, licenses and escape vents on traps. The
lobster fishermen actively participated in the decision making process and worked through their own
lobbying efforts to guide and shape legislation for the Maine lobster industry that both reflected their
own conservation

The following case study critiques Upton s vision to establish a sustainable community through
implementing comprehensive sustainable strategy. The urban periphery development is thought to
demonstrate superior execution of sustainable principles in development (Jackson 2007). As a parallel,
the report focuses on the development of Upton s design code and demonstrates how large scale mix
use developments can incorporate sustainable practice and principles of urban growth. Site Context

area of strategic economic and population expansion situated south west of the central core. The area

The multi faceted characteristics of high quality urban extensions are detailed in the Sustainable
Urban Extensions: Planned through Design (2010), a report from the Princes Foundation, focusing
particularly on the quality of new housing. Paraphrased below are the proposed requirements to create
a successful development indicated by the report: High density and compact design; A mix of housing
types and tenures; Legible neighbourhoods; Communal areas of green space and; Communal
amenities and facilities. The report identifies the physical attributes of a sustainable urban extension,
focussing on quality of new housing. Higher density, a mix of housing types and tenures, legible
neighbourhoods, communal areas including green space and communal amenities and facilities are all
observed as necessary. However, due to adverse effects of the economic downturn, Upton is yet to
provide the substantial amenities as originally proposed. Consequently, residents of Upton will require
transportation to obtain essential services, thus partially offsetting the sustainable premise of the
scheme. Breheny et al (1993) considered the design characteristics of new communities and
summaries the dominant tendency towards oversimplified and functional concepts. In urban
extensions there is an inclination to focus heavily on traditional features of an English Village,
resulting in a pastiche urban fabric, with Poundbury Dorchester

Internet Privacy Essay
With the internet gaining such popularity, privacy has become a thing of the past. People have come to
accept that strangers can view personal information about them on social networks such as facebook,
and companies and the government are constantly viewing peoples activity online for a variety of
reasons. The government has attempted to help the consumer regain their privacy online by passing
the Consumer Internet Privacy Protection Act of 1997, although it is difficult to enforce and has
become outdated with the fast moving tendency of the constantly changing internet. Some companies

They also share personal information including email to several other websites, resulting in endless
spam. A study was done that proved at least 45% of the top 185 most visited websites are sharing user
information with another website and often, they share with at least four other websites. On many
websites, at the end of their privacy policy is a small, pre checked box that asks the user whether this
website can share your information with other websites. Many people don t even see this box, and end
up agreeing to it because it is so discreet and already checked off. Furthermore, Online advertising is
an enormous source of information collected about consumers, and serves as an important lens to
focus our understanding of data collection and use. (Harbour) These companies use text files called

Feminism in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel Essay
Feminism in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
There are many different definitions of feminism. Some people regard feminism as the idea that
women deserve the same amount of respect that men deserve. There are the other schools of feminist
thought that hold women superior to men. Yet another believes that the gender roles controlling
women are artificially created and not innate knowledge, and thus men and women are equals with
only history the determining factor and how gender equality is established. There are clear feminist
overtones in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel. Esquivel pointes to a more radical
definition of feminism in Like Water for Chocolate. The story focuses on mostly female characters

Mama Elena goes on, for better or worse, attempting the best she can to raise a family in the
tumultuous time of the Mexican revolution. She struggles against her rebellious daughter in her own
attempt to keep her family s heritage and traditions alive. Not only does she raise a family but she also
runs the ranch on which the live and on derive their sustenance. Early on in the novel we see that
Esquivel presents a character that deserves the same amount of respect normally giving to a male
character in this same role. By placing this normally male role in a woman Esquivel questions the
typical role of the woman in a home of just raising children by bestowing additional responsibilities.
We see elsewhere in the novel the strength in Gertrudis, Tita s sister. Gertrudis escapes the ranch after
reacting mysteriously to one of Tita s recipes. She runs away with a rebel soldier, works in a brothel at
the Mexico Texas border, and eventually returns to the ranch as a general in the revolutionary army.
Here we witness the creation of a second strong female character. When we first see Gertrudis we see
just another female character. But after her return we find that she has become a leader of in the
revolution. Again Esquivel takes a potion that is typically male associated and fills that role with and
equally respectable female character.
There is then the focal character, Tita. Tita is the pivotal character in defining Like Water for

Patsy Ramsey Case
Based on the research I conducted on the Ramsey case I would have to conclude the Patsy Ramsey is
the one that killed her daughter. Here s why I focus on Patsy Ramsey. First, the ransom note was
found in the kitchen where Patsy went first thing every morning to fix herself a cup of coffee. How
would a killer know this is where she would be going to first?
Second, the ransom note was written on a notepad the Ramseys had in their house along with using a
pen they had as well. If a kidnapper already knew they were going to kidnap someone, they should
have already written the note out or typed the note instead of physically writing the note. The
kidnapper knew they would have been taking JonBenet, so they would have been thoroughly
prepared. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ramsey, but as the note drags on, he is then referred to as John. That makes it much more personal
and would be someone that knows him. I can t see a foreign faction calling him by his first name.
Fifth, the note was also long for a ransom note. Usually a ransom note is very short and to the point
such as give us this amount of money or the person dies if you don t do exactly as I say. There was
also a practice note found. What kind of kidnapper practices their ransom note at the scene? You
would have to feel extremely comfortable to know that no one in the house would wake up and catch
you in the act of writing a 3 page ransom note, much less write a practice note first.
Sixth, the ransom note also stated to not have anyone in the house contact the authorities or talk to
anyone about the case or JonBenet would die. However, Patsy Ramsey did call the police and invited
friends and family over to discuss the case. If they did this, their daughter would be beheaded. But yet,
JonBenet was found strangled and beaten which is far from a beheading.
Seventh, there was no forced entry into the house which means it would possibly have been someone
from inside the house or someone that had access into the house to have committed the

Heavy metal became popular in the early 1980s with famous bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica,
Megadeth for their epic headbangs and guitar riffs in live concerts. Although, lyrics can definitely taint
heavy metal as dark. For instance, breathtaking composer, Marilyn Manson is known for horrifying
the audience for having provocative outfits and different color eyes. Despite being peculiar, Manson
reached number three on the Billboard albums chart...sold 1.4 million copies from Antichrist Superstar
(McConnell 2). As scary Marilyn Manson appears on pictures, credit must be given to him because he
quickly achieved fame. In fact, one of the famous songs is The Beautiful People which criticizes the
privileged. Manson and Twain had similarities because both are known for a specific composition
piece and receive critics of their works. Once again, censorship appears to cover work because heavy
metal promoted or condoned illegal drugs (Censoring 5). A generalization is clearly made by ignorant
individuals that do not give an opportunity to listen to music. Music is about expressing ideas or even
protesting about injustice in society. If people want to be judgemental about Twain, heavy metal or
anything that is out of the box, the realization that diversity is

Examples Of Altruism
Altruism is the virtue of unselfishness. It is the principle and practice of concern for others. T ypically
it is associated with selfless acts like volunteering and helping the less fortunate. Altruists are
commonly stereotyped to those who ve given greatly to those in need, to the extent in which they
seemingly put those in need over themselves. The Dalai Lama and Mahatma Gandhi are common
icons for this theory.
Pure altruism is the form of the virtue in which one can perform altruist acts while remaining
completely unselfishly motivated. A circumstance of this would be donating money for the benefit of
others with no personal self satisfaction or mental rewarding. An example of a pure altruist act is an
innocent mother risking her life to save her young child, and dying as the result of saving her child. I
do acknowledge a fair hearing towards this and agree it is morally courageous in our present western
society. However, seemingness is a true factor that is predetermined in this sense. It s not the question
of what the mother gains from death that s important, but the theme of absence gained from living.
More specifically, the mom subconsciously concluded

Taking a Look at Chick-Fill-A
Which came first: the chicken sandwich or the egg sandwich? The world may never know. However,
the world does know the chicken sandwich easily trumps an embryonic hoagie. The hard working
Samuel Truett Cathy rose from the ashes of the Great Depression and established his own ideas of
modern chicken consumption. In 1946, Cathy constructed a small restaurant, the Dwarf Grill, which
was named after how miniscule the space was. Four tables and ten stools later, Cathy desired an
expansion and to revolutionize the world of accelerated dining. He yearned for a poultry meal that was
as elegant as a beef filet (hence the name Chick Fillet , however, neither time consuming to craft, nor
expensive to purchase (Starrs). The owners of Goode Brothers Poultry, a business in Atlanta, Jim and
Hall Goode, were approached by an airline to design a boneless, skinless chicken breast that would fit
in the plastic trays they used to serve meals on planes. After accomplishing such an innovating tax, the
Goode s had remaining pieces of chicken; that is where Samuel Truett Cathy enters in this poultry
fairytale. Cathy s Dwarf Grill neither excelled nor failed, though, it enabled Cathy to further his
ambition, essentially a springboard to success. However, the business itself lacked potential to grow.
The Goode s approached Cathy to develop some sort of innovative method with the left over chicken.
Having previously toyed with idea of chicken already, Cathy undoubtedly took the challenge. The

Advantages And Drawbacks Of Ipo
Drawbacks of IPO s It is true that IPO raises huge capital for the issuing company. But in order to
launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO), it is also necessary to make certain investments. Setting up an
IPO does not always lead to an improvement in the economic performance of the company. A
continuing expenditure has to be incurred after the setting up of an IPO by the parent company. A lot
of expenses have to be incurred in the form of legal fees, printing costs and accounting fees, which are
connected to the registering of an IPO. Such expenses might cost hundreds of US dollars. Apart from
such enormous costs, there are other factors as well that should be taken into consideration by the
company while introducing an IPO. Such factors include the rules and regulations involved to set up
public offerings and this entire process on the other hand involve a number of complexities which

With that ball pitchers were allowed to scuff, cut, and spit on it, affectively being able to make the ball
dance and harder to hit. People put the end of the dead ball era on the 1919 season when Babe Ruth hit
an unheard of 29 homeruns. People began to pack the stands to see the long ball, so owners decreased
the dimensions of the fields thus increasing the odds of someone hitting a homerun. They also added
rules to the pitchers against scuffing and cutting, and the balls were switched out more frequently too.

[v] Though Jastrow treats the issue as settled and declares that scientists have finally been defeated, it
is too early to reach any judgements on the implications the new cosmology has for both science and
religion. Our image of the origin of the universe is not yet complete and further investigations must be

The idea that the universe had an origin was a result of the discovery of the expansionary universe.[vi]
The theoretical groundwork for the expansionary universe theory was conceived, ironically, by Albert

social networking sites let the individuals who utilize them make individual profiles, while interfacing

The Beliefs Of Judaism, Zionism And Judaism
There will always be differences in religion, history has shown us that. No one can ever be truly
correct; someone will always interject or disagree and there will always be conflict when it comes to
religions. Whether it comes down to debates, or even wars have been fought because of difference in
religion. One religion in particular follow the same doctrine, but have different views on it, and that
religion is Judaism. In Judaism, there are the secular Zionistic Jews and then there are True Torah
Jews. Both believe in the same thing, but the way they carry it out is very different. The first question
is, where did Zionism come from and how did it become popular? Zionism all started with a man
name Theodore Herzl about one hundred years ago, and he got the great idea of starting a movement
of taking the sacred True Torah Judaism and changing it a little bit. He wanted to start a branch of the
religion and make it more secular, by not studying the Torah, and making Judaism more territorial by
thinking that this religion should be in one area and that is modern day Jerusalem, or Israel. Instead of
being like most religions where they want to spread the word and go out and convert others into what
they believe. Zionist think that they should cut everyone off and go back to the promise land. Laura
Wharton, of the Jerusalem City Council, wrote about Zionism and said Theodor Herzl s vision was of
Israel as a haven for the Jewish people (p75). Laura touched base on Theodor did

Making Preservation Possible For City Skylines
Devon O Geary Mrs. Hinner LNG 341 11 November 2015 Making Preservation Possible City
skylines can be easily recognized for their unique architectural features, such as sharply pointed
steeples, dramatic heights, and distinctively shaped buildings. In the United States, the skylines of
New York, Chicago, and Seattle show familiar features, such as the Empire State Building, the Sears
Tower, and the Space Needle respectively. Buildings in Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah,
Georgia are also acclaimed for their quaint style and Southern Charm. Many of these notable
architectural works of art, referred to generally as historic buildings or historic structures, would cease
to exist without the hard work of preservation societies. These societies, as well as the notable
architecture they preserve, provide educational lessons outside of the traditional classroom for today s
youth. For these reasons, the nation s historic buildings need to be preserved and restored to their
original glory. More state and city governments should follow the federal government s lead and
provide tax incentives to encourage builders to remodel, and thus preserve historic buildings,
preventing the demolition of iconic landmarks. A historic building is any place with historical context.
The word historic is defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary as famous or important in history; having

The Demand And Production Of Atlantic Salmon Essay
In the ever expanding field of aquaculture, the demand and production of Atlantic salmon (Salmo
salar) has increased substantially, having grown over six fold in the last two decades worldwide
(Howard, 2014; Murray, 2014). Increased emergence of parasitism and disease has met this expansion,
particularly in areas where disease control strategies are not yet locally coordinated (Murray, 2014).
Salmon lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) have significantly impacted the salmonid farming industry
since the 1970s, affecting economic costs and fish welfare, and contributing to secondary parasiticide
effects and drug resistance (Costello, 2009; Ljungfeldt et al., 2014; Torrissen et al., 2013). As of 2009,
L. salmonis has affected the industry in Norway, Canada, Ireland, Scotland and Chile, whereas in
other countries, including New Zealand, it has not yet presented a problem (Costello, 2009). Various
treatment, management and prevention strategies have been suggested and implemented in high
production areas, which may provide useful models for potential risk of sea lice parasitism in New
Zealand.
In the last decade, a high demand for protein rich, heart healthy salmon has precipitated an
aquaculture surge, which currently supplies seventy percent of the global salmon market (Howard,
2014). Due to consumer and environmentalist demands and the risk of spreading disease between
farmed and wild populations, nationally directed aquaculture legislation has bolstered industry

Pop Art was an art movement that originated in the 1950s but swept across the American media

Theme Of Corruption In The Miller
Consistently dishonest to his customers, The Miller is a great example of this kind of corruption. The
main job of The Miller is to sell grain to families, thus providing them with food. The moral
expectation of this job seems high, as families who must pay for grain are of a lower class. As a result,
The Miller is most likely seen as a savior to many people of the lower class. Chaucer, at first, supports
this saying, His mighty mouth was like a furnace door. / A wrangler and buffoon, he had a store / Of
tavern stories, filthy in the main (Chaucer 575 577). In other words, The Miller seems to be an overall
well rounded, humorous guy. So much so, that no one has any reason to think that he might be
cheating them out of their money. Yet, in the very next line, Chaucer describes him in a much different
way: His was a master hand at stealing grain. / He felt it with his thumb and thus he knew / Its quality
and took three times his due ( The Miller 578 580). Obviously, The Miller is receiving more money
than he actually deserves because he places his thumb on the scale, making the grain weigh more.
Although no one is aware, The Miller constantly takes advantage of his clients by making them pay
more than their fair share. Although he does not appear corrupt to most, The Miller is dishonest and
cheats many people who are involved in his trade.
Chaucer also stretches this theme seen in The Miller into The Doctor s prologue. In general, Doctor s

Do you know what had created chaos in 1938? The War of the Worlds radio drama by Orson Welles

Dreaming of A White Christmas it s a very different title to other songs. Bing Crosby wrote this song
because he had a purpose to tell parents and us they key memories. Key memories of the holiday
season that most people love and cherish. This song had some literary devices I wanted to discuss.
One of the literary devices that got my attention was imagery. This song has imagery because in (1:1)
it say White Christmas this makes me imagine the snow falling during the time in December. You can
also imagine people having fun, spending time with their family during a White Christma. Another
imagery that many people can imagine is (1:6) With every Christmas card i write it makes you
imagine. It gives you a sense of people sending Christmas cards to their family or to special people.
The last imagery is my favorite one. Its is (1:12) To hear sleigh bells in the snow makes me imagine
the soft, and beautiful sound of sleigh bells during Christmas time it s an amazing feeling you get. ...

Bing Crosby used rhyming to make the song have a beat to it. In (1:1,2) this is rhyming going on
there. The rhyming is between the word know and snow. Bing Crosby did a good job of rhyming with
this song. In (1: 3) you can also find rhyming their with the words treetops glisten and children listen.
The writer made a good job because if treetops glisten children will listen. Most of his rhymes are
typical human extinct. The rhyming that got me curious was the rhyming in (1: 6,7,8) because he
ended all his sentences with words that rhyme and he did not do that with his other lyrics. This one
literary device that got me

How Is Rip Van Winkle A Hero
Rip Van Winkle is an ineffectual male hero who cannot support his farm or family. Instead of facing
the consequences of his idleness and facing his wife, who certainly makes the problem worse instead
of better, he sleeps for twenty years. Finally, he is of such an age that his idleness is excusable and
allowed. This makes him an antithesis to the American dream. He has no ambition, he does not work
hard for himself, and he does not rise above where he began. He just likes to chat and have friends. He
also sleeps through what was the defining moment of American history, and upon waking, he does not
even care. This develops him as the American anti hero, for he takes no part in the country s founding
or history. His story makes sense as more of an Old World story, one that the Dutch settlers, in their
relatively old village, can retell. The story also shows that great historical events are often less
important than the daily happenings in an individual s life. The only oppressor Rip Van Winkle cares
about having overcome is his wife. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

state of affairs which appears to be a lesson and warning for Irving s male and female readers alike.

Accused murderer Belva Gaertner, 1924 (National Geographic, N.D)
Sequins, glamour, sex and murder sounds like the stuff movies are made of but the award winning,
longest running American musical Chicago is based on the true murder cases of Belva Gaertner and
Beulah Annan who were accused of killing their partners under the influence of alcohol and Jazz
music in 1924. Maurine Watkins made Chicago what it is today. Maurine was a former reporter who
followed the murder trials of Gaertner and Annan; her inquisitive mindset into the way the women
were prosecuted sparked her to write the play Chicago in 1926. From then on the show has gone to
Broadway in 1974 and revived in 1996. In 2002 it was then turned into a movie casting major stars
such as Catherine Zita Jones. Chicago follows Roxie Hart, a wannabe celebrity who is arrested for
murdering her lover whilst trying to convince her soft, pushover of a husband, Amos, to lie for her.
Roxie is sent to the Cook County Jail where she meets her idol, a performer and double murderess
Velma Kelly. Billy Flynn, a greedy sex driven lawyer is to represent both of the murderesses, but the
stakes rise rapidly as the two women fight for the spotlight of newspaper headlines. The ageless music

1.1 Explain The Importance Of Assessment In Research
It is important to identify needs early and seek consent, before you do a common assessment you
should check who else is working with the child or young person. You should also check whether a
common assessment already exists. This will be assisted by the introduction of contact point, which
will indicate whether a Child Assessment Framework exists for a child or young person and the
contact details for the practitioner who holds the CAF or who acts as lead professional (Contact point

As well as observing children and noticing what they are doing, there are some simple methods you
can use to record what you are seeing such as structured recording, tick charts and checklists. A
structured recording involves looking out for particular skills or behaviour that children show. Many
settings do this by using checklists or tick charts. There are many advantages to using checklists and
tick charts. They are easy and quick to use and they can be repeated on the same child at a later date to
see if the child has gained further skills. This means that progress can be mapped. The main
disadvantage of this method is that it is quite narrow as it focuses the observer on looking only for the
skills that are on the checklist or tick chart. A holistic assessment will help the family, school, nursery,
teachers and health practitioners to see what the child that is being accessed can do and how they can
be supported to develop further. A holistic assessment addresses the main areas that impact children
and young people s potential to achieve these outcomes: Be

Lovable Jerk Film Analysis
It is these three, however, who absolutely make the film what it is. Such unparalleled acting and

much more compelling story and give stunningly impressive performances that far supersede the

Hallmark s writers seem to avoid the pitfalls we sometimes witness when viewing films that revolve

As the lovable jerk, Travis portrays the smooth talking, forward thinking Will who is often looking for

Many aspects color how exactly a translator interprets a text, allowing for a great deal of variation to
occur between different translator s versions of the same text. This holds true for the Middle Eastern

between the extensive numbers of English translations that have been released over the past three

People expressed their feelings or thoughts of the great depression in many different ways including
that of songs or speeches. Many songs included lyrics that symbolized wanting freedom to a place that
was not suffering. Reading the lyrics of No Depression in Heaven by The Carter Family hinted some
of the troubles that our nation was dealing with. Within the lyrics they stated that In that bright land
there ll be no hunger, no orphan children crying for bread, no weeping widows toil or struggle, no
shrouds, no coffins, and no dead . They would like to go to a place with no depression. Some would
say hope played a big factor during this time period, but hope could not be upheld if the goal is not
reached. This New Deal never ended the economic drought that the U.S was stuck in. Many programs
such as the Agriculture Adjustment Administration grew taxes and led to more starvation. Farmers
killed off certain animals and crops as they were told to by the AAA. Many could not believe that the
federal government was condoning such an action when many Americans were starving . Although
there was a counter to this issue. The WPA did provide meals for hungry children. In the past year and

Trauma And Stressor Related Disorder
In the DSM 5, PTSD is listed under Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders. In order for a person to be
diagnosed with PTSD, they must meet a number of criterion the first one being exposure to actual or
threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence. If the person does not meet this criterion, they are
automatically exempt from being diagnosed with PTSD. This alone is incredibly restrictive, ignoring
many groups of traumatized victims including those with psychiatric diagnosis, or those being

In creating the opportunity for more individuals to be diagnosed with a post traumatic syndrome, C
PTSD creates a dignified title for individuals who have already endured so much. Victims of
childhood trauma account for a portion of this group. Abused children have to undergo a series of
adaptations in order to experience self preservation. The three major forms of adaptation include
elaboration of dissociative defenses, development of fragmented identity, and pathological regulation
of emotional states. When a child falls prey to an abuser, they cannot form inner representations of
safety. Not only do they become attached to strangers, but they also cling to their abusers. During this
time, Herman refers to fragmentation as becoming the central principle of personality organization .
Normal regulations of emotional states are also disrupted, resulting in dysphoria, chronic anxiety, and
chronic depression which can last into adulthood. Normal regulations of emotional states are also
affected by the elaboration of dissociative defenses. When an individual becomes too accustomed to
using dissociation as a defense mechanism, they can experience something referred to as annihilation
panic . When annihilation panic ensues, only extreme shocks to the system (such as self mutilation)
can help them separate themselves from dissociation. Though these adaptations are crucial for

lot of rushing yards are going to be given up, what was vital was to limit the touchdowns allowed
through the running, which Michigan State was able to succeed in only allowing two rushing

Designing The Data Collection Method For A Marketing...
While Market Researchers may not understand the complete environment in which the decision maker
operates, it is imperative that the Market Research address the real decision problem and not simply a
visible, but incorrect, aspect of it. A marketing research project can be viewed as a series of steps that
includes formulating the problem, determining the research design, designing the data collection
method, designing the forms, designing the samples, collecting data, analyzing and interpreting the
samples, analyzing and interpreting the data and preparing and finalizing research reports. When the
problem is formulated correctly research can provide important information including specifying the
objectives of the research project. When formulating the problem the first role that market researchers
take is finding the problem that is to be solved.

Bargaining Power Of Suppliers For Airtel
Since telecom industry is very susceptible to price war and bargaining power, suppliers are chosen
carefully so that the bargaining power of suppliers is low and the profitability of the company is not
slashed down.
The major suppliers whose bargaining can influence the profitability of Airtel are as follows:
i. Mobile Tower Companies Below is the list of companies who own mobile towers in India and their
market share. Currently uses the mobile towers offered by Bharti Infratel Limited and Indus Towers
Limited.
From the above figure we find that there are many companies who provide the mobile tower facility.
Also, there is very less or no scope for forward integration by these companies. It is unlikely that these
companies will enter the telecom industry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

6.2 Bargaining Power of Buyers
Buyers in telecom industry can be classified in two categories depending on the type of consumers,
Individual and Enterprise Customers. Enterprise customers are organizations like banks, IT
companies. There are multiple players in the telecom industry like Airtel with variable product
offerings and prices which gives buyers many options to select operators and thus increase the
bargaining leverage.
Different aspects of bargaining powers of buyers which affect the profitability of Airtel are:
i. Switching Costs: The cost of a new connection is very low and sometimes subscribers obtain new
connections for free. The introduction of Mobile Number portability (MNP) has increased the buyer
power of switching to other service providers very easily. Airtel faces a higher bargaining power of
buyer due to low switching costs.
ii. Buyer Competition: Majority of the revenues for Airtel is generated by enterprise customers who
show that there is higher buying

Causes Of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is one of the most prominent and serious conditions associated with
Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). There is no cure, and infants born with this condition
display facial abnormalities, wide set and narrow eyes, growth problems and dysfunction of the
nervous system.
Cause
FAS is caused by consumption of alcohol by a pregnant mother. The alcohol travels across the
placenta and into the fetal blood circulation where it breaks down at a much slower rate than in an
adult s body. Because the alcohol takes longer to break down, the levels build up and cause the fetus to
develop improperly. No amount of alcohol is safe when a woman is pregnant.
Signs and Symptoms FAS is diagnosed when a group of symptoms are

The Pros And Cons Of Heroku
We believe that today the most value is in productivity and agility how fast you can hit the market,
how fast can you change and that s really all about developer s productivity and that s what Heroku
focuses on as an application platform, Heroku is an application platform that allows its developers to
push application code to the Heroku and then they run that code for the developers this is basically
what Heroku does, however Heroku does this in a dramatically different way than traditional hosting

configuration for even a slight scaling and then write the application on top of that, it was surely a
lengthy and tricky process but now developers only need to think and create there application and

Changes in Bangladesh
Changes in Bangladesh
Bangladesh came to today s shape through a long history of political evolution. Bengal was probably
the wealthiest part of the subcontinent up till the 16th century. The area s early history featured a
succession of Indian empires, internal squabbling, and a tussle between Hinduism and Buddhism for
dominance. All of this was just a prelude to the unstoppable tide of Islam which washed over northern
India at the end of the 12th century. Mohammed Bakhtiar Khalzhi from Turkistan captured Bengal in
1199 with only 20 men. That was just the beginning. The journey of Bangladesh goes on.
Today here I am going to state the changes I have experienced through my life. So it will be a

Climate Change:
As one of the countries most seriously affected by climate change and natural disasters, Bangladesh
has been forced to be resourceful and resilient. Without outside help, however, the country of 160
million will not have the capacity to address climate related environmental changes as their severity
and frequency increase. The United States should augment its focus on adaptation measures when
providing the South Asian nation with aid.
The repercussions of global warming on Bangladesh are diverse and wide reaching. The
environmental changes that are occurring directly affect all aspects of society. Human health, food
security, industry and energy security, infrastructure, and economic development are all threatened by
climate change. According to the World Bank, 40 percent of foreign aid to Bangladesh is vulnerable to
climate related factors. In a country as densely populated as Bangladesh, even small scale shifts in
ecological systems have a profound humanitarian

Introduction
Many people today have their thoughts on how the Earth was created. Christians take a biblical
perspective of how the universe was created by a creator. One thought that Christians believe is that
God created the earth and accomplished this in six days and rested on the seventh day. This is the
model of how a week is set up and the model that we currently follow. Jon W. Green states though
differences of opinion exist for various doctrinal issues within Christianity, few are more divisive than
controversies surrounding the days of creation and the age of the Earth. As stated previously many
people have thoughts and are curious as to how the Earth itself came into existence. When it comes to
the scientific community there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Mortenson, 2011) Young Earth Creationist believe in the idea of the Hebrew word Yom. (Morris,
2011) This word translates to mean a literal day and is used in Genesis to describe each day of
creation. We as Christians must take the Bible as true, this being the whole bible including the Old
Testament. In regards to the age of the Earth, young earth creationist take Genesis 5 as a genealogy of
the Earth. The genealogies of Genesis 5 as well as 11 give people an idea of the years and happenings
from Adam to Abraham. Scholars can mostly agree that Abraham lived about 2000 BC. All of these
facts then set the date of creation at approximately 6000 years ago. (Mortenson, 2011)
Old Earth View
In response to the young earth six day creation of the Earth idea, secular scientist have developed the
idea of the Big Bang theory. According to the big bang theory, the universe began by expanding from
a minuscule volume that possessed extremely high density as well as extreme temperatures. Initially
the universe was significantly smaller than a pore on your skin. (Takahashi, 2000 ) It is thought that
this happened about 10 20 billion years ago. According to Yuki D. Takahasi (2000) in his article Big
Bang: How did the Universe begin? He states 3 main observations that point to truth in the Big Bang
Theory. Number one is astronomers have found that the universe continues to expand which means
that the

  • 2. A Research On Sustainable Engineering Building Sustainable Engineering Building In our world, today we make more and more discoveries every day and with that new knowledge comes innovation. Since the engineering building was first built in the late 1890 s, there have been many advances in becoming a more environmentally friendly building. It is time to transform this historical building into what will be one of the greenest buildings on any campus in the world. Before the University was Texas A M, it was initially owned and called East Texas State University. It was not until 1995 that the school was bought by Texas A M. Texas A M University Commerce was originally established by William L. Mayo at Cooper, Delta County, in 1889. But sadly after five years the school caught fire ... Marine and aquatic life has suffered as a result of these poisonous chemicals contaminating ocean beds, wetlands and marshlands. Once a healthy food source, seafood and fresh water fish are often dangerous to eat due to mercury and other harmful and deadly chemicals found in randomly tested fish and seafood. (Painter 2017) Sally brings up an excellent point when the says that toxins have leached out of facilities and factories because when most think of going green they think how to save energy. But going green is not just about saving energy; it is about making a cleaner environment at the same time. What is sustainable design? For the past, the art of creating a building was much more simple due to the fact that there were not as many requirement on size, efficiency, and economy. There was not a care in the world on what effects these buildings would have on the future civilization. But in the world today, the construction industry has become much more concerned with what the future holds. According to Daniel Vallero and Chris Brasier, sustainable design or Green Design is Green design encompasses numerous ways to improve processes and products to make them more efficient from an environmental standpoint. • 3. Lobster Industry In Where Have All the Exploiters Gone? Co Management of the Maine Lobster Industry , author James M. Acheson validates Garret Hardin s logic in Tragedy of the Commons that property rights do in fact help conserve resources. Acheson also refutes basic principles set forth by Hardin that users of open access resources have no vested interest in preserving resources over the long term and are unable to generate regulating mechanisms. The Maine Lobster fisherman have developed a widely used and accepted territorial system for regulating access to lobster fishing grounds on the coast of Maine. The system is an informal system that it is not legislatively created or mandated, but is communally imposed and enforced by the local fishing communities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fisherman strongly believed that the notching process during culling, which made the sexually proven females off limits and illegal to harvest in the future, helped in the conservation efforts and ensured those proven breeding females would be returned to the waters. There they would be legally protected to continue breeding without danger of being harvested in the future. Studies validated the local fishermen s theory that females in the population showing spawned eggs were statistically more likely to breed again and consequently would increase the egg stock in the waters and health of the lobster populations. The Department of Marine Resources felt that the notching of the females created conditions for infection of the females at the notch location. However, the Department yielded at the insistence of the fishermen. There was evidence provided that the practice was in fact helping the conservation effort. In addition, there was much discussion between the groups of the effectiveness of conservation efforts such as minimum harvest size, trap limits, licenses and escape vents on traps. The lobster fishermen actively participated in the decision making process and worked through their own lobbying efforts to guide and shape legislation for the Maine lobster industry that both reflected their own conservation ... The report identifies the physical attributes of a sustainable urban extension, focussing on quality of new housing. Higher density, a mix of housing types and tenures, legible neighbourhoods, communal areas including green space and communal amenities and facilities are all observed as necessary. However, due to adverse effects of the economic downturn, Upton is yet to provide the substantial amenities as originally proposed. Consequently, residents of Upton will require transportation to obtain essential services, thus partially offsetting the sustainable premise of the scheme. Breheny et al (1993) considered the design characteristics of new communities and summaries the dominant tendency towards oversimplified and functional concepts. Some people regard feminism as the idea that women deserve the same amount of respect that men deserve. There are the other schools of feminist thought that hold women superior to men. Yet another believes that the gender roles controlling women are artificially created and not innate knowledge, and thus men and women are equals with only history the determining factor and how gender equality is established. Early on in the novel we see that Esquivel presents a character that deserves the same amount of respect normally giving to a male character in this same role. By placing this normally male role in a woman Esquivel questions the typical role of the woman in a home of just raising children by bestowing additional responsibilities. We see elsewhere in the novel the strength in Gertrudis, Tita s sister. Gertrudis escapes the ranch after reacting mysteriously to one of Tita s recipes. She runs away with a rebel soldier, works in a brothel at the Mexico Texas border, and eventually returns to the ranch as a general in the revolutionary army. Here we witness the creation of a second strong female character. When we first see Gertrudis we see just another female character. But after her return we find that she has become a leader of in the revolution. Again Esquivel takes a potion that is typically male associated and fills that role with and equally respectable female character. There is then the focal character, Tita. First, the ransom note was found in the kitchen where Patsy went first thing every morning to fix herself a cup of coffee. How would a killer know this is where she would be going to first? Second, the ransom note was written on a notepad the Ramseys had in their house along with using a pen they had as well. If a kidnapper already knew they were going to kidnap someone, they should have already written the note out or typed the note instead of physically writing the note. There was also a practice note found. What kind of kidnapper practices their ransom note at the scene? You would have to feel extremely comfortable to know that no one in the house would wake up and catch you in the act of writing a 3 page ransom note, much less write a practice note first. Sixth, the ransom note also stated to not have anyone in the house contact the authorities or talk to anyone about the case or JonBenet would die. However, Patsy Ramsey did call the police and invited friends and family over to discuss the case. If they did this, their daughter would be beheaded. But yet, JonBenet was found strangled and beaten which is far from a beheading. T ypically it is associated with selfless acts like volunteering and helping the less fortunate. Altruists are commonly stereotyped to those who ve given greatly to those in need, to the extent in which they seemingly put those in need over themselves. The Dalai Lama and Mahatma Gandhi are common icons for this theory. Pure altruism is the form of the virtue in which one can perform altruist acts while remaining completely unselfishly motivated. A circumstance of this would be donating money for the benefit of others with no personal self satisfaction or mental rewarding. An example of a pure altruist act is an innocent mother risking her life to save her young child, and dying as the result of saving her child. I do acknowledge a fair hearing towards this and agree it is morally courageous in our present western society. However, seemingness is a true factor that is predetermined in this sense. No one can ever be truly correct; someone will always interject or disagree and there will always be conflict when it comes to religions. Whether it comes down to debates, or even wars have been fought because of difference in religion. One religion in particular follow the same doctrine, but have different views on it, and that religion is Judaism. In Judaism, there are the secular Zionistic Jews and then there are True Torah Jews. Both believe in the same thing, but the way they carry it out is very different. The first question is, where did Zionism come from and how did it become popular? Zionism all started with a man name Theodore Herzl about one hundred years ago, and he got the great idea of starting a movement of taking the sacred True Torah Judaism and changing it a little bit. He wanted to start a branch of the religion and make it more secular, by not studying the Torah, and making Judaism more territorial by thinking that this religion should be in one area and that is modern day Jerusalem, or Israel. Instead of being like most religions where they want to spread the word and go out and convert others into what they believe. Making Preservation Possible For City Skylines Devon O Geary Mrs. Hinner LNG 341 11 November 2015 Making Preservation Possible City skylines can be easily recognized for their unique architectural features, such as sharply pointed steeples, dramatic heights, and distinctively shaped buildings. In the United States, the skylines of New York, Chicago, and Seattle show familiar features, such as the Empire State Building, the Sears Tower, and the Space Needle respectively. Buildings in Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia are also acclaimed for their quaint style and Southern Charm. Many of these notable architectural works of art, referred to generally as historic buildings or historic structures, would cease to exist without the hard work of preservation societies. These societies, as well as the notable architecture they preserve, provide educational lessons outside of the traditional classroom for today s youth. For these reasons, the nation s historic buildings need to be preserved and restored to their original glory. More state and city governments should follow the federal government s lead and provide tax incentives to encourage builders to remodel, and thus preserve historic buildings, preventing the demolition of iconic landmarks. • 20. The Demand And Production Of Atlantic Salmon Essay In the ever expanding field of aquaculture, the demand and production of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) has increased substantially, having grown over six fold in the last two decades worldwide (Howard, 2014; Murray, 2014). Increased emergence of parasitism and disease has met this expansion, particularly in areas where disease control strategies are not yet locally coordinated (Murray, 2014). Salmon lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) have significantly impacted the salmonid farming industry since the 1970s, affecting economic costs and fish welfare, and contributing to secondary parasiticide effects and drug resistance (Costello, 2009; Ljungfeldt et al., 2014; Torrissen et al., 2013). As of 2009, L. salmonis has affected the industry in Norway, Canada, Ireland, Scotland and Chile, whereas in other countries, including New Zealand, it has not yet presented a problem (Costello, 2009). Various treatment, management and prevention strategies have been suggested and implemented in high production areas, which may provide useful models for potential risk of sea lice parasitism in New Zealand. In the last decade, a high demand for protein rich, heart healthy salmon has precipitated an aquaculture surge, which currently supplies seventy percent of the global salmon market (Howard, 2014). It suggests that art can be appreciated by all people, from the layman to the wealthy elite, and that education is not something that necessitates a respect or an interest in art. Instead, Pop Art, coined by British art critic Lawrence Alloway, which implies that the most common man can come to understand and appreciate art if the content and mode of creation was more familiar to him. Alloway indicated that the movement was special because of its reliance on the power of the image . • 23. Theme Of Corruption In The Miller Consistently dishonest to his customers, The Miller is a great example of this kind of corruption. The main job of The Miller is to sell grain to families, thus providing them with food. The moral expectation of this job seems high, as families who must pay for grain are of a lower class. As a result, The Miller is most likely seen as a savior to many people of the lower class. Chaucer, at first, supports this saying, His mighty mouth was like a furnace door. / A wrangler and buffoon, he had a store / Of tavern stories, filthy in the main (Chaucer 575 577). In other words, The Miller seems to be an overall well rounded, humorous guy. So much so, that no one has any reason to think that he might be cheating them out of their money. Yet, in the very next line, Chaucer describes him in a much different way: His was a master hand at stealing grain. / He felt it with his thumb and thus he knew / Its quality and took three times his due ( The Miller 578 580). Obviously, The Miller is receiving more money than he actually deserves because he places his thumb on the scale, making the grain weigh more. Although no one is aware, The Miller constantly takes advantage of his clients by making them pay more than their fair share. Although he does not appear corrupt to most, The Miller is dishonest and cheats many people who are involved in his trade. Chaucer also stretches this theme seen in The Miller into The Doctor s prologue. In general, Doctor s are viewed a good, moral, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of facing the consequences of his idleness and facing his wife, who certainly makes the problem worse instead of better, he sleeps for twenty years. Finally, he is of such an age that his idleness is excusable and allowed. This makes him an antithesis to the American dream. He has no ambition, he does not work hard for himself, and he does not rise above where he began. He just likes to chat and have friends. He also sleeps through what was the defining moment of American history, and upon waking, he does not even care. This develops him as the American anti hero, for he takes no part in the country s founding or history. His story makes sense as more of an Old World story, one that the Dutch settlers, in their relatively old village, can retell. There are many advantages to using checklists and tick charts. They are easy and quick to use and they can be repeated on the same child at a later date to see if the child has gained further skills. This means that progress can be mapped. The main disadvantage of this method is that it is quite narrow as it focuses the observer on looking only for the skills that are on the checklist or tick chart. One thought that Christians believe is that God created the earth and accomplished this in six days and rested on the seventh day. This is the model of how a week is set up and the model that we currently follow. Jon W.
