The document analyzes coherence in English essays written by non-native Spanish and Catalan students studying sociology. It finds that the most common errors relate to incorrect verb usage, especially problems with subject-verb agreement. Lexical choice errors and incorrect use of articles are also frequent. While some errors stem from interference from the students' first language, others relate to developing English proficiency. Overall, the study aims to understand challenges non-native students face regarding text coherence to help improve English for Academic Purposes programs.
