Editor's Notes
- Our group were established in 1996, which meant 2016 was our 20th anniversary. We decided that we should do something to mark this and the original idea was to host an event simply to celebrate. Myself and Jamie met with our department’s communications manager and our ideas quickly developed into something more substantial. We felt that if we were going to put the time and effort into publicising and holding an event then we should take the opportunity to maximise the output. So as well as aiming to raise awareness of the group we decided to turn the project into a prioritisation project – not just for our group, but for the tobacco control research community more general. As our aspirations got bigger we realised that we would need to apply for funding outside of our infrastructure grant and so we applied for and were successful in receiving funding from the NIHR School for Primary Care Research
