ANNUAL
REPORT
Coaching With Substance
We nurture public trust by holding ourselves to the highest standard of
performance, ethics and confidentiality. Our exceptionally low overhead
means that more money is directed to serving the community by providing
further encouragement, education and the means of prevention. To date
we have not been able to secure government funding for our coaching services but our community
network continued to support us in referring their loved ones who need transformation.
A highlight for the year is the confirmation of candidature for my Doctoral Studies (20 April 2016),
which means that I am officially in research mode as I uncover the effects of Collaborative Peer
Recovery Coaching in people with poly drug use issues, that also have depression, anxiety or bipolar
issues
On the social front, we have cultivated many Facebook groups and pages so that we can reach
those that are unable or unwilling to seek traditional help. We also have more face to face interac-
tionswith clients as we open our doors for meditation and recovery networking weekly.
We hope you enjoy reading our productive journey for the 2015-2016 Financial Year. Help us contin-
ue to serve our community, keeping it safe from the harms of behavioural addiction and substance
abuse by referring to us, those that need our services, so we can keep doing what we do best.
Last of all, we are eager to take our service to more people, hence donations are always put
to wonderful use. All donations (over $2) are fully tax-deductible, our donations portal has already
raised over $60,000, go to: www.givenow.com.au/coachingwithsubstance

To forge relationships with Mayor Tom Tate,
Maria volunteered at the elections and joined
the Mayor and her wife, Ruth at the Victory
Party afterwards. We hope to work with the
Mayor’s office or be one of the beneficiaries for
the Lord Mayor’s Ball.
My coach has awarded me a scholarship to his
Champion’s MasterMind Club for referring the
most number of colleagues to his program. Our
Mastermind group of seven learned in greater
detail how to have a profitable program that we
can sell and make money from. I also picked up
a client to coach and this was a great bonus.
5. Political Networking:
Election for Mayor Tom
Tate
1. Mastermind Group by Steve Brossman
6. High Tea with Bert Van Menen, MP
Another event attended was the High Tea or-
ganized by Bert Van Menen, MP at his resi-
dence in Willow Vale. A few key people were
met and speaking engagements secured.
2. Podcasters Secret Weapon: This is a complete course that contains everything I need
to know about launching a successful podcast, getting big names on this show and
boosting downloads. It includes 12 weeks of group coaching and interaction with other
students on Facebook. This cost $4200 on a payment plan.
3. 6-Figure Coach: We were taught how to launch funnels (Clickfunnels) and member-
ship sites that can generate six figures a year in clients and members. This is a complete
course teaches us how to make $10,000/week with a $5,000 product, which equates to 2
sales per week, this means I ring five people a week from the twenty leads generated and
for this we must launch three marketing campaigns and spend around $500 a week in
FB ads.
4. Scholarship for Role of Not-for-Profit Chairman: Australian Scholarships Foundation
awarded Maria a 100% scholarship to attend the Australian Institute of Company Direc-
tors’ The Role of the Not-for-Profit Chairman course. It was attended by other Chair mem-
bers, such as those from Lives Lived Well and Crimestoppers, to name a few. It was a great
day of learning with lots of networking value.

The University of Queensland has awarded Maria Pau, Founder of Coaching with
Substance a Confirmation of Candidature to officially continue her research on the impact
of Collaborative Peer Recovery Coaching on those with co-morbid (depression, anxiety,
PTSD, ADHD) polydrug use and abuse issues on the 20th of April, 2016. She has also sub-
mitted her Ethics application and this has also been approved which means she is in her
second year of her Doctoral Studies and due to finish her dissertation by mid-2018.
This study will provide important data on coaching drug and alcohol clients, which may be
duplicated elsewhere. The findings from this dataset can be a catalyst for a deeper insight
into the influences of coaching for Australians suffering problematic drug and alcohol use
behaviours. It examines the client’s willingness to abstain and how motivated they are in
achievement of abstinence goals. Her study will examine the coaching sessions and the
transcripts of these coaching sessions (over 3500 pages of transcripts) to study the impact
of Collaborative Peer Recovery Coaching on recovery capital resources and abstinence.

Expenditure Summary:
As for loans and expenditures, we have lowered our loans from $40,140
last financial year to now only $28,974, paying off $11,160 to date.
We operate a very lean charity, considering our face to face expo-
sure (130,000++ individuals reached), social media mileage (139,000

people) and service delivery numbers (107 individuals transformed through coaching or
training). Keeping the overheads low was possible through the work of our Founder, who
volunteers her time and the other Board Members who give generously, as well. Outsourc-
ing work through Upwork and hiring people from the Philippines also keeps the salaries
very low, where casual marketing staff that would have cost $30,000 a year is only setting us
back a few thousand.
