SELF DESCRIPTION
I have three different Masters degrees:
1. in the field of psychology
2. in theology
3. mostrecently in social work (Specialization in International and CommunityDevelopment).
In addition to the masters degrees, I have two Bachelor degrees
1. Social Work
2. Food Sciences and Technology.
I have worked, at different times of my life, across more than twenty years before I voluntarily
retired in 2009, as a public servant. My retirement was as a result of my family’s immigration to
Canada. My most recent work experince now is as a Graduate Research Associate in the Faculty
of Social Work ,University of Calgary, Canada. Also, I have worked for a number of Implemeting
Partners (IPs) of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), as well as
the Department for International Development (DFID), the United Nations Children’s Fund
(UNICEF) and British Airways as a donor organization supporting community development
projects.
I will describe myself as a community organizer and capacity building development specialist .I’m
an articulate person and someone who works to establish standards ,motivating and in a creative
environment. I am a self-starter and someone who appreciates how personal efforts contribute
to team / community efforts. As well, I am a trained family support counselor, and I am an active
supporter of innovations, and as a business owner. I am an independent, strategic thinker, honest,
anayltical and result-based person. These are some of my core values that defines me as a
person.

HIGHLIGHTS OF PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
 Developmental Evaluator (DE) for the Alberta Men’s Survey on Healthy Relationship and
Violence Prevention amongst men. Conducted the qualitative interviews for the leadership
team of the survey, developed an interview guide, involved in data analysis and organized
healthy relationship dialogues. Men have expressed some of the services and supports
they need from this survey. Top on this is a center exclusively for men to meet. Depression
and anxiety are some of the mental health limitations that the survey research identified
as contributing to men’s well-being. Click here to view the survey website and preliminary

 Developed a website for my MSW capstone project that showcased some of my
learnings, Theoretical Framework for my project and reflections .Click on this link to

 Coordinated a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) / Global
HIV/AIDS Initiatives Nigeria (GHAIN) / Presidential Emergency Plan for Aids Relief
(PEPFAR) program implementation strategies for over 40 Implementing Agencies (IAs)
partners with an average annual budget of $1.5M in a two year period in supporting people
who are living with HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB). Over two thousand people living with
HIV/AIDS and TB had access to prevention, care and treatment programs. The Federal
Government of Nigeria (GoN) also provided counterpart funding for this project.

 Contributed to Results Based Management (RBM), Performance Measurement
Framework (PMF), Project Implementation Plans (PIP), Mid-Term and Annual Project
Reports, Program close out in the GHAIN / PEPFAR Project.
 Supported the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF), Canada, Mustard Seed and Aspen
Family Services (local non-profit agencies) in the Housing First Harm Reduction Model in
housing and rehousing morethan four hundred homeless people in three months.Funding
for this project totals $2.6M provided by CHF, the Government of Alberta (GoA), Canada
and private donors as part of the strategic ten year plan to end homelessness in Calgary.
These homeless individuals had access to case management and better crisis
intervention. This resulted in better health outcomes, self-independence and increased
self-esteem.
 Supported the management and coordination of men, money and materials, community
organizers and organizations and resources in a three year $5M USAID school
improvement grants to improve Literacy and Numeracy for elementary students. School
enrolment and retention increased from 2% to 13% in the community. Community
engagement and participation also increased by 35%. Parents Teachers Associations
(PTA) were able to write simple proposals and retire funds as part of capacity building in
the intervention.
 As an independent private consultant, coordinated the disbursement, monitoring and NGO
capacity building of the $1M USAID grant in the Ambassadors’Girls’ Scholarship Program
(AGSP) in more than five states in Nigeria for one thousand out of school girls to retain
and finish their elementary and junior high school education. More than half of these girls
graduated from elementary school to junior high school. The ones in the junior high also
graduated to complete their high school education. Evaluation report showed that one
quarter of the girls graduated from high school to post-secondary schools in their
communities.
HISTORY OF PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT AND ASSIGNMENTS
 Graduate Research Associate(Consultant) March 2015 - Present, Faculty of Social
Work, University of Calgary, Canada
Responsibilities:
 Developmental Evaluator (DE) for the Albert Men’s Survey (AMS).AMS is the project that
researched on at men’s well-being and healthy relationship in violence prevention
amongst men in Alberta, Canada.
 Developed all the tools and procedures for the Ethics application for the survey through
The Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (CFREB) of the University of Calgary. I
also provided trainings to stakeholders on the DE process.
 Designed the questionnaires for both qualitative and quantitative interviews for the
leadership team of the survey
 Supporting in academic literature reviews
 Supporting in data gathering/collection and data analysis
 Group Family Counselor, September 2013 to April 2015. YWCA of Calgary, Canada
Responsibilities:
 Intake for clients involved in Domestic Violence (DV)

 Facilitate psycho-educational groups for men and women using the sociological
framework
 Ensure that ethical standards of clinical practice are maintained at all times while

 Family Support Worker, September 2012 to September 2014, Calgary Urban Project

Responsibilities:
 Facilitated Nurturing Parenting Classes,
 Facilitated a psycho–education sessions for married couples in a program called
Supporting Fathers Involvement (SFI). This program strengthens intimate relationship
 Supported clients in the interpretation of the Alberta Child, Youth and Family
Enhancement Act as advocate
 Provided a rights-based advocacy focus through continuously improving practices and
implementing innovative initiatives in the child welfare system
 Community and Neighborhood Coordinator, April 2011 to March 2012, United Way of
Calgary and Area.
Responsibilities:
 Supported community engagement and consultations on issues of poverty, education,
health and social capital
 Researched a social enterprise models for marginalized men and women immigrants to
Canada
 Shelter Team Lead, April 2011 to April 2013, Mustard Seed Society
Responsibilities:
 Facilitated the $3.5M case management, housing first, harm reduction model strategy in
housing over five hundred homeless men and women into stable and affordable housing
with funding from the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF), the Government of Alberta

 Supervised and assessed the annual performance evaluation for more than ten program
staff for organizational rewards, recognition and promotion
 National Program Officer, January 2008-March 2009, Family Health International (FHI).

Responsibilities:
 Facilitated the country program reviews in Program Implementation Plan (PIP),
Performance Measurement Frameworks (PMF), Results Based Management (RBM)
Monitoring and Evaluation plan in the $250M USAID, Presidential Emergency Plan for
Aids Relief (PEPFAR) and Global Funds to Fight HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis
(GFTAMT) in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria
 Trained more than two hundred Implementing Agencies (IAs) partners in program
management, simple fund retirement and Implementing Partner (IP) program overview.
 Team Lead/NGO Trainer, 2002 to 2004, World Education Incorporated (WEI), Boston,
MA.WEI is a USAID Implementing Partner (IP)
Responsibilities:
 Managed over twenty program staff, budget and community grants.

 Trained and reviewed over two hundred community grant proposals for funding with over
$4M in school renovation work, teacher training and policy enhancement.
 Supported an innovative grant of over $1M for community enhancement and community
engagement and consultations
 Gender Based Education Consultant, 2004 to 2008, World Education Incorporated
(WEI), Boston, MA
Responsibilities:
 Supported more than 600 out of school girls with over $2M in four years to complete their
junior and senior high school education in the Ambassadors Girls’ Scholarship Program
(AGSP).AGSP was fully funded by USAID with cost share from the communities and
partner NGOs
 Program Director/Research Coordinator, 2005 to 2007, HIV/AIDS Community Agency
(HVCA), Lagos, Nigeria. HVCA is a community non-profit agency funded by the National
Action Committee on AIDS (NACA) and Lagos State AIDS Agency.
Responsibilities:
 Managed more than 120 field trained research assistants and ten program staff in the
$1.5M community grants from NACA to conductKnowledge, Attitude, Practiceand Beliefs
(KAPB) on HIV/AIDS from twenty municipalities in Lagos State
 Collaborated with more than thirty stakeholders in identified municipalities and developed
strategies to address systemic issues to effect change in the in the course of the research
 President: Rotary Club of Somolu (RCS) District 9110, Lagos, and Nigeria (2000-
2001). RCS is a member club of Rotary of International based in Evanston, Illinois,
Chicago.
Responsibilities:
 Presided over club and board meetings and appointed committee chairs and members
 Conducted over four club assemblies
 Managed an annual budget of over $10,000 for the club. Created a budget and managed
club finances, including an annual audit
 Supported more than ten small community driven development projects with a face value
of $3,000
 Worked with the District Governor (DG), Assistant Governor (AG) and senior members of
the club in achieving local, national and global Rotary roles around the world
 Chief Community Development Advisor, 1992-2002, Lagos State Local Government
(Municipal) Service Commission, Lagos, Nigeria
Responsibilities:
 Supported an urban sustainable development program CHANGE FOR GOOD sponsored by
British Airways and UNICEF for urban slums communities in infrastructures development
especially in the area of water and sanitation
 Supported more than hundred women with over $200,000 in four years in a micro credit
program to improve their business and support their families
 Supported the training and grants in aid community development program in fifteen
communities with an average grant of $10,000 per community in a year for five years. This
resulted in self-sustaining community initiatives

homeless population in the city of Calgary

not for profit organization based in Ottawa that works to create the political will to
end poverty and needless suffering)
o Supported Results and other developing partner’s efforts for the Canadian
Government to help over 106 million people especially poorest women to start
small businesses with micro -loans around the world.
o Presented before over 30 Members of Parliament (MPs) at the house of Common
in Ottawa in November 2009 on the current funding and program status for
HIV/AIDS in Nigeria as it affects mothers and vulnerable children with support from
Global Funds and other developing partners

HIGHLIGHTS OF PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS  Developmental Evaluator (DE) for the Alberta Men’s Survey on Healthy Relationship and Violence Prevention amongst men. Conducted the qualitative interviews for the leadership team of the survey, developed an interview guide, involved in data analysis and organized healthy relationship dialogues. Men have expressed some of the services and supports they need from this survey. Top on this is a center exclusively for men to meet. Depression and anxiety are some of the mental health limitations that the survey research identified as contributing to men’s well-being. Click here to view the You tube video training I provided to stakeholders on the DE process.  Developed a website for my MSW capstone project that showcased some of my learnings, Theoretical Framework for my project and reflections .Click on this link to access the site  Coordinated a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) / Global HIV/AIDS Initiatives Nigeria (GHAIN) / Presidential Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) program implementation strategies for over 40 Implementing Agencies (IAs) partners with an average annual budget of $1.5M in a two year period in supporting people who are living with HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB). Over two thousand people living with HIV/AIDS and TB had access to prevention, care and treatment programs. The Federal Government of Nigeria (GoN) also provided counterpart funding for this project.
  • 3. 3  Contributed to Results Based Management (RBM), Performance Measurement Framework (PMF), Project Implementation Plans (PIP), Mid-Term and Annual Project Reports, Program close out in the GHAIN / PEPFAR Project.  Supported the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF), Canada, Mustard Seed and Aspen Family Services (local non-profit agencies) in the Housing First Harm Reduction Model in housing and rehousing morethan four hundred homeless people in three months.Funding for this project totals $2.6M provided by CHF, the Government of Alberta (GoA), Canada and private donors as part of the strategic ten year plan to end homelessness in Calgary. These homeless individuals had access to case management and better crisis intervention. This resulted in better health outcomes, self-independence and increased self-esteem.  Supported the management and coordination of men, money and materials, community organizers and organizations and resources in a three year $5M USAID school improvement grants to improve Literacy and Numeracy for elementary students. School enrolment and retention increased from 2% to 13% in the community. Community engagement and participation also increased by 35%. Parents Teachers Associations (PTA) were able to write simple proposals and retire funds as part of capacity building in the intervention.  As an independent private consultant, coordinated the disbursement, monitoring and NGO capacity building of the $1M USAID grant in the Ambassadors’Girls’ Scholarship Program (AGSP) in more than five states in Nigeria for one thousand out of school girls to retain and finish their elementary and junior high school education. More than half of these girls graduated from elementary school to junior high school. The ones in the junior high also graduated to complete their high school education. Evaluation report showed that one quarter of the girls graduated from high school to post-secondary schools in their communities. HISTORY OF PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT AND ASSIGNMENTS  Graduate Research Associate(Consultant) March 2015 - Present, Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary, Canada Responsibilities:  Developmental Evaluator (DE) for the Albert Men’s Survey (AMS).AMS is the project that researched on at men’s well-being and healthy relationship in violence prevention amongst men in Alberta, Canada.  Developed all the tools and procedures for the Ethics application for the survey through The Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (CFREB) of the University of Calgary. I also provided trainings to stakeholders on the DE process.  Designed the questionnaires for both qualitative and quantitative interviews for the leadership team of the survey  Supporting in academic literature reviews  Supporting in data gathering/collection and data analysis  Group Family Counselor, September 2013 to April 2015.
