The Eagle Alert program is Houston Community College's early alert system to identify students struggling academically or personally. A committee reviewed the existing program and recommended keeping the current tool in PeopleSoft but developing training and standards. They formed a subcommittee to determine enhancements for faculty, advisors, and students. In spring 2016, over 5,000 alerts were issued across the colleges. The top reasons for alerts were poor class performance, missing classes, and personal issues. Most alerted students did not improve their grades or complete the semester successfully. The presentation outlines next steps like communicating data, providing training, and recognizing high performers.

5. Eagle Alert is the new name for Houston Community College’s Early Alert
Program which is designed for faculty to identify early in the semester,
students who are having academic or personal difficulty that interferes with
academic success and progression.
Referrals are sent to the advisor or counselor who in collaboration with faculty
and other related stakeholders works to increase the chances of success and
retention of referred students.
The purpose of Eagle Alert is to identify issues that prevent student success
and to connect students to available resources that will enable them to
progress and complete their courses successfully and on time.

6.  Increase the number of students who successfully complete
12-15 credits in a semester.
 Reduce the number of students who earn grades of D,F, or W.
 Create opportunities for faculty, advisors, counselors to work as a
team to help more students succeed.
 Provide referred students opportunity to Bounce Back and have a
successful semester.

 Schedule Campus visits to hear from all stakeholders and
