3. COMPUTER NUMERICAL CONTROL(CNC) Plotter is a special
type of printer that uses a pen to draw images on solid
surfaces using logical instruction interfaced with a computer.
CNC plotter machine is a 3D controlled 2D plotting machine
it can be used for PCB design ,LOGO DESIGN etc.
In this project we are using very low price spare parts to
design a CNC plotter.

4. The objective of the project is to design and implement a
CNC plotter machine drawing surface area is an A-4 size
which will be in a solid surface.

5. A CNC plotter is able to draw complex line drawings . The
coordinates are uploaded to the machine controller by a
separate program and the image file transformed to the G-
code via software then this code transfer to the controller by
which the mechanism is instructed to draw the image.
We are making CNC with the help of ARDUNIO based design
using ATMEGA MICROCONTROLLER.
Machine have three motors to implement the X, Y and Z
axis .

7. For making CNC plotter two software are used
1. INKSCAPE
2. FRITZING
INKSCAPE –
This is the software which is used for the designing the
plotted diagram or text in which the software G code file of a
selected image or text is created G code is commonly used
when X,Y and Z coordinate are used .
FRITZING –
It is friendly open source circuit simulator software which is
mainly used in PCB design.

10. BRESENHAMS LINE ALGORITHM is used in CNC plotter by it we
can control the stepper motor in X, Y and Z direction.

11. The two dimensional mechanical design of the body of CNC
has to be made by using
Stock material
1. wood
2. PVC board
3. metal rod

1. stepper motor (2pieces) - 3 to 6 volts
2. servo motor – 4.8 volts
3. power supply – 12 volts
4. arduino uno (R3)

12. The pen of the machine can be replaced by a laser to make it
work like a cutting machine
The pen can be replaced by a powerful drill so that it can be
used for both milling and drilling purposes.

13. This project is about building a machine prototype of a CNC
plotter machine which is able to draw a PCB layout.
This is a low cost project as compared to other CNC product.
The machine is designed with a very simple construction
scheme and can be carried anywhere without much effort.
The pen can be replaced with a pinhead or laser head or any
other tool for different purpose of use.
