How Did The King Nebuchadnezzar Symbolize Rome
Introduction
King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream about a statue. Its head was made out of gold and it
symbolized Babylon. Its shoulders and torso were made of silver and it symbolized the Persians.
Its lower body was bronze and that symbolized the Greeks. Its feet were iron mixed baked clay and
it symbolized the Roman Empire. This statue was showing the kingdoms that were coming.
Babylonians
The Babylonian Empire lasted for 87 years, from 626 539 B.C. The army of Babylon took captives
from Jerusalem. Babylon was the kingdom where Nebuchadnezzar was king. He was the king
who had the dream. Daniel was the man who interpreted the King s dream in 605 B.C. In 586
B.C., the temple was destroyed and Jerusalem was damaged. In 539 B.C., Babylon was destroyed ...

They withdrew from Roman law and went out into the desert. They wore white, shared everything.
They studied the Bible, copying it nad waiting for two messiahs. Waiting for a cosmic battle
between them, the sons of light, and the sons of darkness. Wanted to obey and stay true to God.
The Zealots cause increased in popularity. Simon and Judes could have been zealots. They thought
the Messiah would be a political leader. Disliked the Greeks, Romans, Sadducees. King David and
the Maccabees were their role models. A new Jerusalem was coming soon, they thought that was
Heaven. They were actively destroying people.
The Pharisees continue to separate themselves from the influence of Hellenism, but still remained a
part of mainstream society. They thought God was punishing them with foreign governments. They
culturally and religiously separated themselves. They devoted themselves to the details of the law.
They taught in the synagogues. They kept the mishna (orally added on laws). They resisted
Hellenism by following all the laws and the mishna. During this time synagogues flourished and in

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is on the Raise Essay
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is defined as mental health disorder triggered by a
terrifying event (Mayo Clinic). This ordeal could be the result of some sort of physical harm or
threat to the individual, family members, friends or even strangers (NIMH). While PTSD is
typically associated with someone who has served in the military, it can affect more than just that
genre of individuals. It could affect rapevictims, victims in a terrorist or natural disaster incident,
nurses, doctors, and police and fire personnel and bystanders. PTSDcan manifest itself in many
forms. The primary signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder include but are not
limited to re experiencing symptoms (flashbacks, bad dreams, frightening... Show more content on

Of those who do, 8% of men and 20% of women will develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(August 2013).A study was done on 810 nurses from a University hospital by having them fill
out a detailed questionnaire. Of the 810 nurses, 332 responded by completing their
questionnaire. The results showed that 22% had symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
and 61% met the diagnostic criteria of PTSD (Depressed Anxiety, 2009). This study shows a
high rate of PTSD among nurses but the percentages could be higher due to many not reporting
or admitting they have symptoms. Another study done in Australia showed that nurses in
remote areas are more likely to experience violent crimes in the workplace which can lead to Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder. In this study 349 nurses working in remote areas of Australia
responded. 88.5% were female in the age range of 20 68 years. In the 12 months preceding the
survey, the workplace violence incidents that were the highest are verbal aggression (79.5%),
property damage (31.6%), and physical violence (28.6%) (trends in workplace violence in remote
areas). This survey provides a statistically significant correlation between workplace violence and
PTSD symptoms. It is no surprise that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is on the rise and is
considered an occupational hazard for nurses. The National Institute of Mental Health calculates
that 7.7 million adults or 3.5 % of the adult population

Beale Street Compare And Contrast
As segregation began to disappear, so did black only shopping centers and the beloved Beale
Street. Unfortunately, in the 1930s the Great Depression inhibited Beale, and remained for thirty
years, turning Beale into a ghost town. Beale Street had become a wasteland of abandoned and
boarded up buildings where trash littered otherwise empty streets. Locals became weary when
rumors of the decline of Beale spread throughout the nation. However, in 1982, John Elkington
took ownership of the new redeveloping of Beale Street. Renovations began to spark, allowing
contractors to bulldoze the entire neighborhood. When Elkington accepted the long and difficult
task of bringing Beale and the surrounding city of Memphis back to life in 1983, the city it s self
began to grow, once again. Beale Street gradually began... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they both offer. Nevertheless, while the citizens that reside in the metropolitan area would agree
that they cherish their street, just the same as Memphians do their Beale Street. While both

Bourbon Street, Mardi Gras is the top event that is held at Bourbon and is primarily what
Bourbon is known for. Mardi Gras is a festival that is held once a year, primarily after lent, which
has originated from a catholic culture. During this festival, people are dressed up in exotic

What Is The Contribution Of The Functionalist, Conflict...
Sociology is the study of society, it uses its methods in systematic way, and are usually empirical.
Since it is the study of scientific society, human social life, more than aggregate of individuals. In
order to understand any issue related to sociology such as race, gender, caste, culture and marriage
etc. We need to understand its three main perspectives, functionalist perspective, conflict theory and
symbolic interactionism. Functionalist Perspective is all about progress in the society through
harmony, because society has a system which is interconnected Therefore, we need to maintain a
state of balance and social equilibrium for the whole Herbert Spencer, Emile Durkheim, Talcott
Parsons and Robert Merton have largely contributed to functionalism. Conflict Theory views life as
competition, distribution of limited resources, power. Its main criteria is to maintain social order
by dominance and power instead of harmony. Karl Marx is the one to put forward the conflict
theory. Unlike conflict theory and functionalist perspective, symbolic interactionism neither deals
with harmony in the society nor with the society with dominance or power. In fact it deals with the
interaction that includes gestural communication. Max Weber contributed for the symbolic
interactionism. Sociologywas first coined in 1780 in France. Then, it was again independently
defined by the one of the founding fathers of sociology, Auguste Comte. Comte was successful in
bringing scientific

Sorrow s Motherhood
Morrison, through Sorrow s experience, portrays how motherhood can be salvation for those
trying to assimilate into the codified characteristics of the feminine gender. Morrison describes
Sorrow with unfavorable imagery marked by a history of misery. Sorrow grew up on a ship,
and was the only one that survived the shipwreck. She was later found by the Sawyer and his
wife. The wife tried to make Sorrow mind the geese (Morrison 140), but this resulted in more
trouble than assistance; therefore, the wife put her to simple cleaning tasks (Morrison 141), which
was still was to no avail. Sorrow s inability to complete these traditionally feminine tasks conveys
that she grew up around very few, if any, women while on the ship and was not trained

Effects Of Automatic Word Reading And Identifying Direction
The Effects of Automatic Word Reading and Identifying Direction
Whether it is the modern day issue of texting and driving or simply studying for an exam in a noisy
room most people experience distraction every day. What people may not know is how those
distractions cause interferences when processing information; this is the underlying problem and
has been known to be tested through something called a Stroop experiment. From referencing the
original Stroop test that examined the interference of color word association to other variations
using shapes, emotions, or spatial locations, we can still learn a lot from Stroop experiments.
When the stimulus contains both the target and distraction, perceptual load increases and
suggests higher interference also. This is due to the fact more attention is brought to the target
and when this is shared, it also brings more focus to the distracter. (Lavie 2005) When
referencing and building off the original Stroop test it is important to know the original theories
and ideas. In the first experiment, Stroop (1935) used 5 different colors; purple, brown, green,
blue, and red. Each individual color was written in the 4 other colors the same amount of times.
For example, the word blue would be written in the color red and the participants had to name the
color that the word was, not what it said. The subjects were selected randomly and were shown a
list of 10 words and were told to read them as fast as they could. They first did this

Personal Growth At My Father s Hardware Store
Spending the last two years working full time at my father s hardware store has been a period of
major personal growth for me. For the first time, I took on a serious role in the business. I was
no longer the boss son: I was tasked with trying to turn around a business that had been
struggling for quite some time. When I graduated college I knew I wanted a career as an
attorney. Prior to committing myself to law school, I wanted to gain some insight into the legal
world through experience. But after six months I was unable to find a job or internship in the
legal field. One summer night over dinner, I was updating my father on my job search and career
prospect, which was difficult to admit. As supportive as he tried to be, I could see his
disappointment. He then proposed I come to work at the hardware store and see if I could help get
it back on track. He no longer had the time or energy to invest into the business.
I didn t see how working there could be beneficial for me. But after thinking it over for several
days, I realized this might be an exciting opportunity to challenge myself. I was to assume the role
of store manager, a role that is exhausting in a small business where I would be responsible for
every single thing that goes on. I spent the first few days critically and holistically assessing the
business, trying to figure out potential causes of the business decline and how I could help
improve it. I noticed how many customers would walk in and walk out

Symbolism In Everything That Rises Must Converge
In Flannery O Connor s short story, Everything That Rises Must Converge , O Connor uses the
symbolism of the violet hat and the shiny new penny along with all of the things Julian s mother
has done for him throughout his life, to place the broader societal conflict of race relations within
the context of the unstable relationship Julian has with his mother, showing how poor southern
whites used blacks to elevate themselves. Julian s clashes with his mother over morals, race, and
appearances mimic the greater conflict of racial relations in society. Everything Julian s mother
sacrifices for her son isn t out of love for him; she puts him before herself only to make him fit the
Godhigh criteria, and in turn uses him to separate and elevate... Show more content on

From the beginning of the story we see that it s clear Julian s mother is obsessed with her
appearance. The fact that her family once had political influence and wealth (p.407), not to
mention power over the lives of 200 slaves (p.408), and now no longer has it, deeply troubles
her, prompting her to overcompensate for this loss by always dressing and looking her best in
public. When the violet hat is first introduced we learn that, [t]he hat was new and had cost her
seven dollars and a half, (p.405) She later states that she could, pay the gas bill with seven fifty,
(p.407). It is clear that with those prices and her issues with integration that this story took place
in the 1960s. From this we know that Julian s mom has expensive taste in clothing. Which
reveals that she puts her appearance before her bills, emphasizing the importance of her sense of
identity is. Her identity is what sets her apart from the rest of society, and is what her ancestors
used to elevate themselves above African Americans. It is apparent throughout the story that
Julian s mother has a preconceived notion of how things in society should be, depicting her to be
a bigot. This is a result of her upbringing, it s all she s ever known. The reason why segregation
was so important to poor Southerners was because they were

Changing Organizational Practices Of Contemporary Companies
In considering the diverse and ever changing organizational practices of contemporary companies,
our group proposes to do research on the study of identity and difference in the workplace.
Specifically, how identities, sense of self, and differences ultimately affect the choices that
organizational members make when accepting, negotiating, and resisting domination in the
workplace (May et al., 2005). In our research, we hope to discuss alternatives to dominant
narratives, while at the same time not completely dissolving them.
We agree that identity can be a person s best asset in today s workplace. A person s unique sense of
self has become more and more apparent and applicable in today s organizational life. The idea that

Due to this shift in workplace ideology, we believe more research is needed for identity regulation,
identity as a fixed aspect of self, the idea that organizations, themselves, have identities, and how
our changing social text influence and manipulate our identity in today s work environment.
We will discuss how organizations who have a strong set of shared values can utilize their
employee s identity and difference by providing organizational protocols as well as individual
guidelines to build the most productive and sincere worker. Our future study proposal would
analyze how an organization might function while allowing its member s identity to have a more
relevant role in the workplace. Our paper will ask, how does identity regulation ethically work to
articulate and discuss the differences among organizational members? Specifically, when one
particular and privileged social construct of normalcy comes to dominate over other equally
plausible alternatives (Mumby, 1987). Following this, we will discuss ways that organizational
members actively respond to their organizational positioning by discussing the identities that have
been largely defined for them by organizational discourse. Alvesson Willmott (2002) refer to this
process as identity work. In working through Mats Alvesson s seven sense making devices or
images, as well as potentially providing more examples, we hope to gain some perspective on how
members respond to their organization s

Similarities Between Wordsworth And Tintern Abbey
Wordsworth s Tintern Abbey when compared to Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
argues that the poet creates meaning from surroundings by offering a background story or outright
pointing to a moral of the circumstances. However, Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
states that the reader is the one to decipher meaning from the circumstances; the poet can only
create the story, but ultimately leaves it up to the readers to derive the meaning for themselves.
Tintern Abbey is told from the narrator s point of view as Wordsworth. In it, he observes the
picturesque beauty of nature contrasted with man made structures like overgrown fields and a
dilapidated church. He expresses his feelings of how such a sight, In hours of weariness,... Show

The point of such poems like Tintern Abbey or The Rime of the Ancient Marinerwas so that the
poet could transfer from our inward nature a human interest and semblance of truth sufficient to
procure from these shadows of imagination that willing suspension of disbelief for the moment,
which constitutes poetic faith (567). It was so that The Rime of the Ancient Mariner could be
written with enough details to describe what was happening, even with added side notes for
additional clarification, but leave it up the reader to deduce the meaning for themselves by the
feelings the poem might inspire within them. Coleridge s critique for Wordsworth was that his use
of extra colloquial language made his poems too common an experience to incite greater emotion

Male Dominance In Latin America Analysis
Superiority?
The idea of Male Dominance is common throughout most of the developing countries in the world.
According to Huffington Post, While women s economic status varies from country to country in
the Americas, one feature in every country studied was that there are also huge inequalities among
women themselves. Women earn between 60 percent and 90 percent of men s average income. At
the same time, the percentage of women heads of households grew from 22 percent in 1990 to 31
percent in 2008, according to the United Nations . (What Gender Inequality Looks Like In Latin

The History Of Pizza By Matt Lezotte
The History of Pizza By Matt Lezotte
Pepperoni? Sausage? Olive? It seems like everyone likes pizza whether its one way or another.
Pizza has become the most common favorite food among Americans and you can see it s
popularity all over the world. People crave it so much that now you don t need to leave your home
to get a slice of pie. Even in Italy pizza vending machines are starting to appear. Every second
about 300 pizza slices are about to be eaten. The trend has no end in sight and with chains like
pizza hut finding ways to reinvent the pizza people will likely keep buying those delicious slices of
joy. But where did pizza begin? Many know it started in Italy but most just assume it has been
around forever. The early ideas of pizza didn t even come to be since the 1700 s. Pizza started in
Naples. Soon immigrants lead to the first sightings of pizza in America. Then New York wanted
to make pizza easy and inexpensive. Chicago reinvented it so one could eat with a fork and
knife. Pizza keeps evolving and growing and it is truly one of the best inventions ever to exist.
But it started as something only a poor man would eat. The origins of pizza trace back to around
the late 1700 s. People ate flat bread with cheese on it and sometimes a sauce was added. This
was mildly popular but often the flatbread would contain fancy oils and herbs with fine cheese on
top. Many higher ranked Italiens would eat flatbread but with oils and herbs on top to make it taste

Frankenstein and the Environment
The environment has a lot to say in Marry Shelly s Frankenstein. It seems to reflect somewhat
what is going on emotionally with Victor in the story. Victor finds solace in solitude with
nature, and appears to use it as a coping mechanism to escape from the horrors of his life. Nature
also ties into how the monster Victor has created feels, but in a much different way than it does
for him. Victor becomes ill sometime during the story after he leaves home and goes off to study
at college. It is assumed by his father that he will feel better after being with his family and
Elizabeth, the woman who he will later marry. But really all Victor wants is to take a breath of
fresh air alone, showing how he truly feels about solitude and the environment. It makes the reader
wonder what he really cares about, and if he even misses his family. We passed a fortnight in these
perambulations: my health and spirits had long been restored, and they gained additional strength
from the salubrious air I breathed, the natural incidents of our progress . . . Throughout everything
that happens to Victor in the book. Including the death of his mother, brother, Elizabeth, and his
father. All that seems to calm him is his return to nature. I discovered more distinctly the black
sides of Jura, and the bright summit of Mount Blanc; I wept like a child: Dear mountains! my
own beautiful ale! how do you welcome your wanderer? Your summits are clear; the sky and lake

1.Introduction In 1965, Zadeh.L.A[16] introduced the study of fuzzy sets. Mathematically a
fuzzy set on a set X is a mapping Вµ into [0, 1] of real numbers; for x in X, Вµ(x) is called the
membership of x belonging to X. The membership function gives only an approximation for
belonging but it does not give any information of not belonging. To overcome this, Gau.W.L and
Buehrer.D.J[7] introduced the concept of vague sets. A vague set A of a set X is a pair of
functions (tA,fA), where tA and fA are fuzzy sets on X satisfying tA(x)+fA(x)≤1, в€

Mcdonald s, Burger King, And Taco Bell
Have you ever wondered what makes a Big Mac so delicious in such a short amount of time?
McDonald s can make your meal in the time it takes you to swerve around the corner of the drive

meal when there is a fast food chain up the block that has dinner in five minutes for half the cost.
With Americans so invested in technology, work, and school, many turn to these unhealthy
choices to save time. This fast food epidemic has led to child obesity, adult obesity, and much
more cases of diabetes. Now, children and even adults don t know the normal food portions to

of their large muscles that they use to walk, run, throw, and catch, among other movements and
activities. Within the gross motor domain, Aidan received a subdomain standard score of eleven,
which falls in the average range. This puts his developmental age at three years and four months.

Aidan received a standard score of 71, which falls into the mild developmental delay range. This
domain is then grouped into three subdomains; attention and memory, reasoning and academic
skills, and perception and concepts. In the attention and memory subdomain, the child is
assessed in their ability to recognize and attend to various situations around them, and their
ability to remember certain information. In this domain, Aidan received a standard score of 3,
which falls into the delayed range, and is consistent to the developmental age of a one year, nine
month child. One of Aidan s strengths in this area was that he is showed his ability to pay
attention during a certain activity for up to three minutes. He was also able to find an object
that was under one of of the two cups being used. One thing Aidan is still working on is reciting
words from a movie or from a book when asked. One other activity that Aidan did not yet master
was pointing to the one hand that had a toy in it. In the second subdomain, reasoning and
academic skills, Aidan received a score of 8, which is in the average range. This is consistent to
the developmental age of 2 years and 6 months. One of Aidan s strengths in this area was his
ability to match similar colors together. Another one of his strengths was that he was able to stack
nesting blocks on top of one another according to their size. Two things Aidan is still working on is
naming his colors and identifying and grouping common objects. The third and last subdomain is
perception and concepts. Aidan received a standard score of 3 in this subdomain, which falls under
the delayed range. This also states that his developmental age is at 2 years and 2 months. Aidan
showed his strengths of matching the same shapes together, building puzzles, and identifying
objects that were familiar to him.

Evans also looks to distinguish the difference between a defense and a theodicy. Evans purpose
introducing these theodicies is to merely show that each has its own place within the discussion
of the problem of evil, but none of them sufficiently answers the problem of evil. The second
chapter found in The Problem of Evil, begins to address the logical problem of evil. Within this
chapter Evans breaks down Alvin Plantinga and the free will defense. Here Evans compares the
logical arguments of J.L. Mackie and Alvin Plantinga. Mackie uses a deductive argument to state
that if God is all knowing, all powerful, and all good, then evil cannot exist. This would be a
contradiction to logic. Plantinga provides a valid argument involving free will to make the case
for the existence for evil. Evans uses the remainder of the chapter to compare and contrast the two
views. Chapter three evaluates the evidential problem of evil. In this chapter Evans uses William
Rowe s version of the evidential problem. Using Rowe s argument as a base, Evans then notes the

Workplace Discrimination In America
Shaun Herman
DIT 4 TASK 3 Topic
12/8/15
Workplace discrimination is a problem in America. Some people in America claim that affirmative
action would solve that problem. The UK, India, and Canada already have forms of affirmative
action in place in their countries. It could be beneficial in America to use parts of affirmative action.
The solution to workplace discrimination in America is affirmative action because it forces
governments and businesses to favor members of a discriminated group in our American culture.
The problem of workplace discrimination in America is seen by some people as not a real
problem, but it is. The fact is that we the United States of America are not following what our
legislature has put into law. Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (CRA) of 1964 it is illegal for
an employer to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex (gender), religion, or national origin.
This applies to all employment situations including hiring, firing, training, promoting, benefits, and
wages (What is Racial Discrimination in the Workplace? Examples, Statistics Cases. (n.d.)) Those
words are all right there in front of us however we as a society to not abide by them. The UK,
Canada, and India all have affirmative action plans in effect in their nations. Some different than
others. In the UK ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an age old caste system that has certain people up a ladder of social classes and that is just
apart of the Indian culture. However, this system has something called quotas in their version of
affirmative action which means that in a particular job there has to be a certain amount of people
from a certain caste in that job. So for example if an employer has 20 jobs to fill 5 of those jobs
are automatically reserved for that certain caste class. However, according to the economist, The
overall effects therefore are probably limited, and certainly hard to

The Between Self Disclosure And Computer Mediated...
This article explores the difference between self disclosure in Computer Mediated
Communication (CMC) and Face to Face Communication (FTF). More specifically, this article
focuses Joseph Walther s Hyperpersonal Model from 1996, and presents an attributional
extension on the model. The article begins by discussing the presence of self disclosure on the
internet, stating that self disclosure is rife in profiles for online dating and that the average
Facebook user discloses approximately 25% of the standard information that could be disclosed .
The article states that while there has been lots of research articles on the reasons that self
disclosure is so prevalent in CMC, such as anonymity and selective self presentation, they all seem
to make the assumption that increased self disclosure in CMC directly results in increased
intimacy. Hence, while research has shown that people disclose more information in CMC relative
to FTF, no one has empirically proven the impact of self disclosure on intimacy in CMC.The article
continues by defining the concepts and theories crucial to understanding the topic at hand. The
disclosure intimacy link is a theory which states that self disclosure is directly proven to foster
intimacy in a relationship (Sternberg,1988). The Hyperpersonal model sets out to explain the
reason why some online relationships tend to be more intimate than FTF relationships (Parks
Floyd, 1996). The Hyperpersonal Model states that CMC can be Hyperpersonal

Woman Warrior Character Analysis
The In Between Who am I in relation to others? Imperative to answering this question, in fact the
answer itself, is a personal understanding of what is I and what is other . Despite the ostensive
brevity of the question, it is an especially challenging one to answer for Maxine Hong Kingston.
Throughout her memoir, Woman Warrior, she constantly struggles to define her I , or rather her
self . In this autobiography she attempts to write [herself] into being (Gates 57) as an American
by reconciling her Chinese heritage with her experience growing up as a second generation
American. To assess the ways in which Maxine does this, Kingston s Woman Warrior (1976),

interaction with a ghost best illustrates this idea. Kingston and her siblings would watch these

Essay on Foaling Report
It is said that the horse is the most insufficient domestic animal at breeding and reproducing. This
is largely because breeders have manipulated the gestation periods of the mare so that they are
out of season breeders. The gestation length of a mare is in between 335 and 340 days. This
leaves little time in the year to successfully rebreed a mare after foaling. Because of this, there
needs to be considerable time taken to effectively care for the pregnant or open mare. Nutrition is
an early factor in the gestation of the mare, this is then followed by the necessary vaccinations and
deworming programs that should be routinely scheduled. The preparations of the stall and the mare
are easy to ready for foaling, most can be done well ahead... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The third trimester is the period of the greatest amount of growth in the fetus, 60 to 65 percent of
the growth occurs during this time (Blanchard et al., 2003). For this reason in the last three months
of gestation the crude protein content of the total ration should be increased to around nine to ten
percent (Blanchard et al., 2003). Another factor that affects the horses ability to attain proper
nutrition is the dental health of the mare. The horse s teeth should be examined and or floated
every six to twelve months to ensure proper chewing, which in return helps maintain the optimal
body condition (Blanchard et al., 2003). Lastly, fescue grass needs to be completely avoided in
the diet of the pregnant mare. The fungus found in fescue causes the placenta to thicken and
become unusually tough. It can cause a prolonged gestation date, abortion and or dead or weak
foals and potentially higher prenatal foal mortality (Reed et al., 2004) Second to nutrition of the
mare are vaccinations and deworming programs. Each should be specific to the needs of the farm
and even more so, to that of the gestation period of the mare. The point of vaccinating and
deworming the mares is to protect the mares from any infectious diseases or parasites that can
adversely alter the fetus and, in some cases, cause abortion. It is suggested in many

Digital Classroom Plan Analysis
The Volusia County School District adopted in December 2015, it s Digital Classroom Plan. This
plan was created to support the instructional shifts required by Florida Standards through the use of
digital tools and technologies. The plan also supports the Digital Learning Now Act (July 1, 2011),
which requires school districts to offer virtual instruction and requires online learning as a
requirement for high schoolgraduation. The plan also included professional development and
curriculum resources for teachers for digital instructional materials aligned to Florida Standards,

level: Lead Facilitator of DCP and Digital Resource Teacher on Assignment. The Lead Facilitator
position s salary would be $69,000 for 12 month position and the TOA salary would be $39,000
for 10 month position. These positions would oversee training during professional development
and troubleshooting issues with Canvas and other digital tools being used by the district. These
costs would be similar to the current cost already being spent on Sharepointe and Moodle, which
will be eliminated after Canvas has been purchased. The two new positions are being paid through
a grant through the State of Florida for implementing a Digital Classroom Plan and would not be
added to the district s current budget. The overall management of the plan would be overseen and
tracked by the Director of Technology Services.
This project is a real life scenario, and is being considered by Volusia County School District.

The user, depending on individual needs, will need to judge the timing of his diuretic use in
relation to the weigh in or show. The whole intake/preparation schedule should also not run
longer than a few days, so as to minimize potential health risks. It is also much more effective
when the athlete is familiar with the process well before actually needing to do so. This way
frantic last minute diuretic use can be avoided, as the user should be fully prepared. When
administered haphazardly, it is very easy to achieve too great a diuretic effect. The result in this
case might not be a defined look, but a flat, deflated appearance brought about by severe

Applying A New Localization Approach Based On...
пїјA fine grained Indoor Localization using Multidimensional WiFi Fingerprinting
Abstract Although fingerprint based localization is promising for indoor applications, its accuracy
remains a huge challenge. Most existing approaches depends on the Radio Signal Strength (RSS) to
generate fingerprints. Merely using RSS is unable to accurately localize since such an one
dimensional fingerprint is serious influenced by the interference and multipath effect in the indoor
environment. In this paper, we propose a new localization approach based on multidimensional
WiFi fingerprint. Instead of using RSS only, we employ RSS, transmitted power, and channel
information to construct fingerprints. The extension of fingerprints enables fine grained
localization and tracking services. We also deign a cosine similarity based matchingalgorithm and
enhanced particle filter mechanism to realize the localization and tracking. Extensive experiment
and implementation results show that using the new fingerprint can achieve an accuracy within 2m
in 90% testing points, with good adaptability to complex indoor environments.

Brown V Board Of Education (Brown) (1954) Marked A Historic
Brown v Board of Education (Brown) (1954) marked a historic victory for civil rights in the
United States. Chief Justice Warren declared the Separate but Equal doctrine unconstitutional,
thereby moving the nation one step closer to a more integrated society. However, despite Brown s
monumental win for racial equality, it is undoubtedly obvious that the Court overstepped its
boundaries in trying to push for progress. In Brown, the Court was unjustified in its actions to
overrule Plessy v Ferguson (Plessy) (1896) and violated its constitutional limit in order to promote
racial integration in public education. In order to fully examine the background and context in
which Brown rose, we must examine Plessy. Plessy was heard in the Supreme... Show more content

Discussing the ambiguities of determining one s race proved irrelevant to this case for Plessy s
race wasn t explicitly stated on the record (Urofsky, 186). Also, the altercation between the
conductor and Plessy had nothing to do with the Conductor s ability to determine Plessy s race
because it was Plessy who self identified as being colored (Urofsky, 186). Lastly, regarding the
constitutionality of the Separate but Equal doctrine, Justice Brown believed racial separation to
be different from racial subordination (Urofsky, 187). He explained that the feeling of inferiority
solely derives from how Black Americans perceive the doctrine, and not from the actual doctrine
itself (Urofsky 187). This decision in Plessy legitimized racial segregation and upheld the
constitutionality of Louisiana s doctrine. By the time Brown rolled around, America was in dire
need of a remedy caused by the aftermath of Plessy. Brown was a compilation of four similar cares,
all dealing with the question of whether primary and secondary public school should be racially
integrated. Segregation kept Black students from attending schools closer to home, sometimes
forcing young kids to travel miles away from home to receive an education. Segregation was getting
ridiculous to the point where White Southerners would build a completely new institutions, just to
stop Black students from entering their schools (Urofsky, 279). With Brown, plaintiffs sought to

If we ask why our social evolution has become so maladaptive, we come immediately upon the
key influence of mass advertising. From an early age, we are bombarded by powerful imagery,
deployed through a hypnotic medium, television, that bypasses conscious filters to directly
influence our subconscious mind. The vivid imagery of television and movies create a seamless
virtual reality that programs our collective nervous system. From America to China, consumerism
has become an organizing principle for billions of peoples lives.
Zen Buddhist philosopher David R. Loy states:
Consumerism requires and develops a sense of our own impoverishment. By manipulating the
gnawing sense of lack that haunts our insecure sense of self, the attention economy insinuates its
basic message deep into our awareness: the solution to any discomfort we might have is
consumption. Needless to say, this all pervasive conditioning is incompatible with the liberative

Fear And Mass Hysteria In Arthur Miller s The Crucible
Fear in The Crucible Fear is a powerful emotion. It defines humanity. The sole reason humans
continue to progress and invent is due to the fear of the unknown. Humans have feared the
unknown since the beginning of time. Therefore, it is logical that knowledge creates security. In
scientifically ignorant societies such as puritan Salemin 1692, fear runs rampant when dozens of
innocent people are accused of witchcraft and some hanged. In Arthur Miller s famous play
The Crucible, mass hysteria leads to the wrongful accusation and hanging of dozens of Salem
citizens for witchcraft. It also happened in 1962 when 62 textile workers came down with a
disease that was blamed on the bite of a Junebug. When fear becomes widespread and delusional
as it has in Salem, it is not fear anymore; it is mass hysteria, a condition affecting a group of
persons, characterized by excitement or anxiety, irrational behavior or beliefs, or inexplicable
symptoms of illness. The human behavior of mass hysteria is evident in both Arthur Miller s
The Crucible and in the modern event The June Bug Epidemic. The emotional mass hysteria that
drives the plot of Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, is a wildfire ignited by several sparks in Act
1. As witchcraft first appears, Hale proceeds to ask Abigail and Tituba questions and Abigail
quickly turns the blame on someone else. During the questioning of Abigail, Hale asks her a

your binder and place on your desk. Right before you attempt to make a paper airplane you
realize you have no idea how to make a paper airplane and once again you lose that excitement
you were waiting for. Well today is your lucky day because today is different, not only will you
feel that excitement you long needed but the ability to make a paper airplane. First, and the
most important is a piece of paper because without the paper how are you going to make an
airplane? Any paper will do find but make sure it s not to flimsy so when making the airplane it
doesn t collapse when making the folds on the plane. Also, the bigger the paper the bigger folds
you will have to make on the plane but that does mean the airplane will fly further then a regular
piece of paper. Once you have the paper take one side of the

How Does Iron Affect The Body
The mineral iron (Fe) is a crucial substance for the human body. Many parts of the body,
including red blood cells, require iron in order for the body to function normally. Only specific
amounts of iron are absorbed by the body to maintain homeostasis. However, iron is a very toxic
mineral so if there is too much ironstored in the body, it can lead to serious consequences. People
that suffer from haemochromatosis, a hereditary iron disorder, are unable to regulate the amount
of iron absorbed from their diet. Almost all iron in the intestine is absorbed into the blood stream
and because the human body has no major way to rid of excess iron, it is stored in organs and
joints of the body where it can cause serious harm. Typically, the body stores one gram or less of
iron but people with haemochromatosis can have up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iron homeostasis is controlled though a negative feedback loop that involves hormones, including
Hepcidin, which are released to control the absorption of iron. With haemochromatosis, the
production of these hormones is affected. Over time, the build up of iron has a serious effect on
cells in the body which can lead to other fatal diseases or even premature death.
It is vital that the body contains a stable amount of iron. This level of iron is regulated through
iron homeostasis. On average, people take in 10 to 20 mg of iron a day but only absorb 10%.
Usually around 1mg of iron is also lost each day meaning the gain of iron equals the loss. This
maintains iron in the body at a stable level. Iron and many other minerals are absorbed through
enterocytes, absorbing cells that make up the small intestine. These cells are the regulators for
how much iron is moved into the blood stream meaning they only move it if the body sees a need
for it. When iron is taken in through food it travels through the digestive system down to the small
intestine in the form of Fe3+ (from plant matter) or Fe2+ (from meat). If it is the form 3+ then it is
turned into the

Nevada Is Not The Typical Lawyer
While Papantonio was able to predict a few quality of Nevada based on his research, Nevada is
not the typical lawyer. Papantonio sent out his survey to hundreds of lawyers and his data was
based on people who practiced in the 1990s, naturally some things that he predicted would be
incorrect. It s also worth noting that it s implausible that a lawyer would match the study in every
category anyway. On average Nevada is a better attorney than his colleagues. Unlike the typical
attorney Nevada did take time off for vacation. Another characteristic that Nevada doesn t share
with the average lawyer written by the scholars is that he handles far more cases on a yearly basis.
A stated similarity is the negative attitude toward the field but this... Show more content on

Clients have respect for Nevada s work because it helps them to resolve fears that they could
have developed thinking about their mortality. Client are appreciative that concerns are met and
that Nevada has taken the time to explain every step. The week before I arrived to work at the
firm Nevada had taken a week long vacation but, that behavior was seen as rare within the
confines of the book. Papantonio accounted that between 20 and 26% of lawyers demand 5 to 4
weeks respectfully of vacation (Papantonio, 1995). He proceeds to state that only 8% took 5
weeks off and 16% took 4 weeks off (Papantonio, 1995). Lawyers are by their very nature
workaholics and they will refuse to take time off but, Nevada was not constrained to that style of
thinking. He took time off to travel and relax which in turn mitigated is potential to burnout. The
fact that most lawyers work 250 hours or more a month should equate that they need to take time
off from time to time but, most lawyers ultimately refuse to. Papantonio accounts in his survey that
41.1 % of survey recipients can t relax (Papantonio, 1995). As against his time during the
internship, Nevada was refreshed and motivated to try new ideas. A vacation every once and while
seems to be a necessity to prevent burning out. Once he returned from his

Hb2 Research Paper
hb2 is a new law ongoing in North carolina. It removes protections for gay and lesbian workers.
Permitting an employer to fire them for their love interest. And also requires transgender
individuals to use their assigned birth sex bathrooms. Cities in North Carolina are also now not
allowed to enforce their own anti discrimination protection laws. Many companies and performers
have started a boycott against north carolina in protest of this law. High point market a home
furnishings trade show, has reported many customers changing their minds on living in north
carolina due to this law. Chris Bruning, president of Groovystuff a designer was outraged. Saying
his two person staff could be escorted out of a bathroom based on unfounded suspicions. Creating a
very hostile work environment. (Ultimate economic impact of HB2 uncertain as opposition grows)
Some analyzers are predicting that attendance at the high point market, running through wednesday

Tyco s pioneers, especially Kozlowski and Swartz, had little, if any, see for its partners as seen by
the skeptical, extreme, exploitative spending of the partner s cash on individual interests. As an
immediate aftereffect of this exploitative and illicit behavior, numerous representatives lost their
benefits. That can scarcely been sorted as enhancing the personal satisfaction of workers and their
families.
Kozlowski and other board individuals had cheated and misdirected speculators by keeping stock

In Cold Blood Rhetorical Analysis Essay
In the opening of Truman Capote s In Cold Blood, Capote illustrates the town of Holcomb,
Kansas as a minuscule, insignificant town. Capote mentions that no one, even fellow Kansans,
are acquainted with this small town. Capote applies many rhetorical effects to describe his view
of the town of Holcomb, such as imagery and tone. Capote utilizes imagery to paint a picture of
the small town of Holcomb. Capote wants his readers to relate to the tiny town. He portrays
Holcomb as out there. By describing a town as out there, the readers immediately know that the
town being described is small and empty. The readers can think of a town that is far from the busy
city. Capote wants the readers to think of Holcomb as a town where tumbleweeds pass through
without anyone noticing. Some readers may even relate to this tiny town because they came from a
small town of their own. In the second paragraph, the author characterizes the streets... Show more

At the beginning of the opening, the author s tone is relaxed. He talks about how small the town
is. Capote mentions that nothing ever happens in Holcomb. He describes the town as a desert.
There is not much to see. In the fourth paragraph, the author begins to talk about the school in
Holcomb. When he describes the school, Holcomb starts to sound like a very conceited town.
Capote characterizes the school as a good looking establishment. He describes the school like this
because the readers will compare the charming school to the boring town. The readers will wonder
why this small town owns such a outstanding school. In the last paragraph, the tone dramatically
changes. Capote writes, ...few Americans in fact, few Kansans had ever heard of Holcomb. The
author implies that Holcomb will soon be what everyone is talking about. The author also says that
the town was happy that they have kept a low profile. The author hints that everything will soon

Mission Statement Analysis
Mission Statement and Code of Ethics For this assignment I choose to look at two companies I
am currently working for. I have been with these companies for a few years and I have worked in
different positions within the companies. I feel I have a sense of how they are managed and can
compare my experiences with them to their goals of the mission statementsand code of ethics.
The Home Depot Mission Statement The first company is The Home Depot. After reading the
mission statement I feel that it fits the company. It points out clearly being in the home
improvement business and the main focuses are pleasing the customers, having the better price and
more products than competitors. Working in my store I have experienced management... Show

Overall they were generalized. As an employee for the company I had not seen this until just
recently when the district manager brought them to our store so I read through it and signed a
document confirming I had. I do think we live these values each day through our working habits
in the workplace but I feel the company is slacking with giving the information or expectations of
the code to the employees. If the company doesn t provide the knowledge and training really
necessary to work by the company s code of ethics then what is the point of having one?
In conclusion The Home Depot mission statement and code of ethics were relatively good and
the company does walk the talk they are giving out. With Burger King the company s mission
statement follows their main goal but I feel they are slacking with the code of ethics and not
exposing the employees to it. Overall I think both companies are good places to work and I have
enjoyed being with them and feel I m doing my part to contribute to their goals.

Bodily Piercing and Tattooing
Bodily piercing and tattooing are regarded to some as art or adornment, to others, a purposeful
religious sentiment. Many individuals fail to entirely consider the fulminant risks associated with
penetrating subcutaneous tissue with foreign bodies. The human body is composed of complex
systems and mechanisms, which interact in order to maintain homeostasis. When deviancy disrupts
the bodily chemical reactions, the internal processes operating to uphold optimal living conditions
will be altered. The human body requires tight limitations of cell, tissue, organ, and organ system
activity in order to function properly. As humans, bodily piercings are considered foreign,
unfamiliar objects to our anatomy. Correspondingly, our bodies have been known to, at times reject
these piercings potentially resulting in medical ailments. In healthcare, providers are increasingly
faced with treating complications related to body piercing. (Ramman ) Ear and nose piercingare the
earliest documented styles of piercings dating from 1500 BC. African and American cultures
discovered oral piercings, including those of the lip and tongue. While the nipple and genital
piercings have been said to derive from ancient Indians. The contemporary way of life brought
about different styles and methods of piercing, such as surface piercing. The investigation of the
impact on health care providers and practice of bodily piercing has been researched and is
continuing to be examined currently. The hazardous

Communication with people increases mental stimulation. Other things that have been shown to
increase mental stimulation include recalled memories and entertainment that is provided by
animals. In atmospheres that feel depression or like an institution, just the presence of animals can
make it seem much brighter. Additionally, animals increase amusement, laughter, and play for the
individuals around them. These distractions from their current situation can decrease their feelings
of isolation or alienation that go along with their situation (Holistic Online, 2007).

Protecting the United States from Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction through the National
Missile Defense Program
Ever since nuclear weapons of mass destruction have existed, people have been attempting to
create ways to prevent a war that would bring about a worldwide Arma geddon. Many of today s
top military and government officials have been studying ways in which the United States can
protect itself from a nuclear missile attack. What they have come up with is the National Missile

The fear of an attack, however, stayed with many people. It became the goal of the United States
to stockpile weapons, to use in the event of a nuclear attack from the Soviet Un ion or other
nuclear super power. A few years later, during the Nixon Presidency in 1968, the United States,
USSR, and a number of other states signed the Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty. The NPT was
designed to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and technology from the super power states to
the still developing states. (Winkler 1999, 182)
In 1972, four years after NPT was signed and ten years after the Cuban missile crisis, the United
States, in conjunction with the USSR, signed the ABM Treaty. The ABM treaty was designed to
regulate the number of anti ballistic missile systems, or defense shields, of both the United States
and the Soviet Union to two, and later agree ments brought that number down to one. (Winkler
1999, 187) It did nothing, however, to regulate the number of missiles a state could possess.
During all this time, however, US Soviet relations remained tense. The Ameri can government
taught the American people to live in fear of a possible pre emptive nuclear strike by the Soviets.
According to author Allan Winkler, this is when then President Ronald Reagan began to design his
Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) pro gram, or Star Wars, as many people referred to it as. (204)

Its shoulders and torso were made of silver and it symbolized the Persians. Its lower body was bronze and that symbolized the Greeks. Its feet were iron mixed baked clay and it symbolized the Roman Empire. This statue was showing the kingdoms that were coming. Babylonians The Babylonian Empire lasted for 87 years, from 626 539 B.C. The army of Babylon took captives from Jerusalem. Babylon was the kingdom where Nebuchadnezzar was king. He was the king who had the dream. • 3. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is on the Raise Essay Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is defined as mental health disorder triggered by a terrifying event (Mayo Clinic). This ordeal could be the result of some sort of physical harm or threat to the individual, family members, friends or even strangers (NIMH). While PTSD is typically associated with someone who has served in the military, it can affect more than just that genre of individuals. It could affect rapevictims, victims in a terrorist or natural disaster incident, nurses, doctors, and police and fire personnel and bystanders. PTSDcan manifest itself in many forms. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of those who do, 8% of men and 20% of women will develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (August 2013).A study was done on 810 nurses from a University hospital by having them fill out a detailed questionnaire. Of the 810 nurses, 332 responded by completing their questionnaire. The results showed that 22% had symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and 61% met the diagnostic criteria of PTSD (Depressed Anxiety, 2009). This study shows a high rate of PTSD among nurses but the percentages could be higher due to many not reporting or admitting they have symptoms. Another study done in Australia showed that nurses in remote areas are more likely to experience violent crimes in the workplace which can lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In this study 349 nurses working in remote areas of Australia responded. 88.5% were female in the age range of 20 68 years. In the 12 months preceding the survey, the workplace violence incidents that were the highest are verbal aggression (79.5%), property damage (31.6%), and physical violence (28.6%) (trends in workplace violence in remote areas). This survey provides a statistically significant correlation between workplace violence and PTSD symptoms. It is no surprise that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is on the rise and is considered an occupational hazard for nurses. Unfortunately, in the 1930s the Great Depression inhibited Beale, and remained for thirty years, turning Beale into a ghost town. Beale Street had become a wasteland of abandoned and boarded up buildings where trash littered otherwise empty streets. Locals became weary when rumors of the decline of Beale spread throughout the nation. However, in 1982, John Elkington took ownership of the new redeveloping of Beale Street. Renovations began to spark, allowing contractors to bulldoze the entire neighborhood. When Elkington accepted the long and difficult task of bringing Beale and the surrounding city of Memphis back to life in 1983, the city it s self began to grow, once again. • 5. What Is The Contribution Of The Functionalist, Conflict... Sociology is the study of society, it uses its methods in systematic way, and are usually empirical. Since it is the study of scientific society, human social life, more than aggregate of individuals. In order to understand any issue related to sociology such as race, gender, caste, culture and marriage etc. We need to understand its three main perspectives, functionalist perspective, conflict theory and symbolic interactionism. Functionalist Perspective is all about progress in the society through harmony, because society has a system which is interconnected Therefore, we need to maintain a state of balance and social equilibrium for the whole Herbert Spencer, Emile Durkheim, Talcott Parsons and Robert Merton have largely contributed to functionalism. Conflict Theory views life as competition, distribution of limited resources, power. Its main criteria is to maintain social order by dominance and power instead of harmony. Karl Marx is the one to put forward the conflict theory. Unlike conflict theory and functionalist perspective, symbolic interactionism neither deals with harmony in the society nor with the society with dominance or power. In fact it deals with the interaction that includes gestural communication. Max Weber contributed for the symbolic interactionism. Sociologywas first coined in 1780 in France. Then, it was again independently defined by the one of the founding fathers of sociology, Auguste Comte. Comte was successful in bringing scientific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Sorrow s Motherhood Morrison, through Sorrow s experience, portrays how motherhood can be salvation for those trying to assimilate into the codified characteristics of the feminine gender. Morrison describes Sorrow with unfavorable imagery marked by a history of misery. Sorrow grew up on a ship, and was the only one that survived the shipwreck. She was later found by the Sawyer and his wife. The wife tried to make Sorrow mind the geese (Morrison 140), but this resulted in more trouble than assistance; therefore, the wife put her to simple cleaning tasks (Morrison 141), which was still was to no avail. • 7. Effects Of Automatic Word Reading And Identifying Direction The Effects of Automatic Word Reading and Identifying Direction Whether it is the modern day issue of texting and driving or simply studying for an exam in a noisy room most people experience distraction every day. What people may not know is how those distractions cause interferences when processing information; this is the underlying problem and has been known to be tested through something called a Stroop experiment. From referencing the original Stroop test that examined the interference of color word association to other variations using shapes, emotions, or spatial locations, we can still learn a lot from Stroop experiments. When the stimulus contains both the target and distraction, perceptual load increases and suggests higher interference also. This is due to the fact more attention is brought to the target and when this is shared, it also brings more focus to the distracter. (Lavie 2005) When referencing and building off the original Stroop test it is important to know the original theories and ideas. In the first experiment, Stroop (1935) used 5 different colors; purple, brown, green, blue, and red. Each individual color was written in the 4 other colors the same amount of times. For example, the word blue would be written in the color red and the participants had to name the color that the word was, not what it said. The subjects were selected randomly and were shown a list of 10 words and were told to read them as fast as they could. They first did this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Personal Growth At My Father s Hardware Store Spending the last two years working full time at my father s hardware store has been a period of major personal growth for me. For the first time, I took on a serious role in the business. I was no longer the boss son: I was tasked with trying to turn around a business that had been struggling for quite some time. When I graduated college I knew I wanted a career as an attorney. Prior to committing myself to law school, I wanted to gain some insight into the legal world through experience. But after six months I was unable to find a job or internship in the legal field. One summer night over dinner, I was updating my father on my job search and career prospect, which was difficult to admit. As supportive as he tried to be, I could see his disappointment. He then proposed I come to work at the hardware store and see if I could help get it back on track. He no longer had the time or energy to invest into the business. I didn t see how working there could be beneficial for me. But after thinking it over for several days, I realized this might be an exciting opportunity to challenge myself. I was to assume the role of store manager, a role that is exhausting in a small business where I would be responsible for every single thing that goes on. I spent the first few days critically and holistically assessing the business, trying to figure out potential causes of the business decline and how I could help improve it. I noticed how many customers would walk in and walk out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Symbolism In Everything That Rises Must Converge In Flannery O Connor s short story, Everything That Rises Must Converge , O Connor uses the symbolism of the violet hat and the shiny new penny along with all of the things Julian s mother has done for him throughout his life, to place the broader societal conflict of race relations within the context of the unstable relationship Julian has with his mother, showing how poor southern whites used blacks to elevate themselves. Julian s clashes with his mother over morals, race, and appearances mimic the greater conflict of racial relations in society. Everything Julian s mother sacrifices for her son isn t out of love for him; she puts him before herself only to make him fit the Godhigh criteria, and in turn uses him to separate and elevate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the beginning of the story we see that it s clear Julian s mother is obsessed with her appearance. The fact that her family once had political influence and wealth (p.407), not to mention power over the lives of 200 slaves (p.408), and now no longer has it, deeply troubles her, prompting her to overcompensate for this loss by always dressing and looking her best in public. When the violet hat is first introduced we learn that, [t]he hat was new and had cost her seven dollars and a half, (p.405) She later states that she could, pay the gas bill with seven fifty, (p.407). It is clear that with those prices and her issues with integration that this story took place in the 1960s. From this we know that Julian s mom has expensive taste in clothing. Which reveals that she puts her appearance before her bills, emphasizing the importance of her sense of identity is. Her identity is what sets her apart from the rest of society, and is what her ancestors used to elevate themselves above African Americans. It is apparent throughout the story that Julian s mother has a preconceived notion of how things in society should be, depicting her to be a bigot. This is a result of her upbringing, it s all she s ever known. The reason why segregation was so important to poor Southerners was because they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Changing Organizational Practices Of Contemporary Companies In considering the diverse and ever changing organizational practices of contemporary companies, our group proposes to do research on the study of identity and difference in the workplace. Specifically, how identities, sense of self, and differences ultimately affect the choices that organizational members make when accepting, negotiating, and resisting domination in the workplace (May et al., 2005). In our research, we hope to discuss alternatives to dominant narratives, while at the same time not completely dissolving them. We agree that identity can be a person s best asset in today s workplace. A person s unique sense of self has become more and more apparent and applicable in today s organizational life. The idea that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to this shift in workplace ideology, we believe more research is needed for identity regulation, identity as a fixed aspect of self, the idea that organizations, themselves, have identities, and how our changing social text influence and manipulate our identity in today s work environment. We will discuss how organizations who have a strong set of shared values can utilize their employee s identity and difference by providing organizational protocols as well as individual guidelines to build the most productive and sincere worker. Our future study proposal would analyze how an organization might function while allowing its member s identity to have a more relevant role in the workplace. Our paper will ask, how does identity regulation ethically work to articulate and discuss the differences among organizational members? Specifically, when one particular and privileged social construct of normalcy comes to dominate over other equally plausible alternatives (Mumby, 1987). Following this, we will discuss ways that organizational members actively respond to their organizational positioning by discussing the identities that have been largely defined for them by organizational discourse. Alvesson Willmott (2002) refer to this process as identity work. In working through Mats Alvesson s seven sense making devices or images, as well as potentially providing more examples, we hope to gain some perspective on how members respond to their organization s ... • 11. Similarities Between Wordsworth And Tintern Abbey Wordsworth s Tintern Abbey when compared to Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner argues that the poet creates meaning from surroundings by offering a background story or outright pointing to a moral of the circumstances. However, Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner states that the reader is the one to decipher meaning from the circumstances; the poet can only create the story, but ultimately leaves it up to the readers to derive the meaning for themselves. Tintern Abbey is told from the narrator s point of view as Wordsworth. In it, he observes the picturesque beauty of nature contrasted with man made structures like overgrown fields and a dilapidated church. It was so that The Rime of the Ancient Mariner could be written with enough details to describe what was happening, even with added side notes for additional clarification, but leave it up the reader to deduce the meaning for themselves by the feelings the poem might inspire within them. Pizza has become the most common favorite food among Americans and you can see it s popularity all over the world. People crave it so much that now you don t need to leave your home to get a slice of pie. Even in Italy pizza vending machines are starting to appear. Every second about 300 pizza slices are about to be eaten. The trend has no end in sight and with chains like pizza hut finding ways to reinvent the pizza people will likely keep buying those delicious slices of joy. But where did pizza begin? Many know it started in Italy but most just assume it has been around forever. The early ideas of pizza didn t even come to be since the 1700 s. Pizza started in Naples. Soon immigrants lead to the first sightings of pizza in America. Then New York wanted to make pizza easy and inexpensive. Chicago reinvented it so one could eat with a fork and knife. Pizza keeps evolving and growing and it is truly one of the best inventions ever to exist. But it started as something only a poor man would eat. The origins of pizza trace back to around the late 1700 s. People ate flat bread with cheese on it and sometimes a sauce was added. This was mildly popular but often the flatbread would contain fancy oils and herbs with fine cheese on top. • 15. Frankenstein and the Environment The environment has a lot to say in Marry Shelly s Frankenstein. It seems to reflect somewhat what is going on emotionally with Victor in the story. Victor finds solace in solitude with nature, and appears to use it as a coping mechanism to escape from the horrors of his life. Nature also ties into how the monster Victor has created feels, but in a much different way than it does for him. Victor becomes ill sometime during the story after he leaves home and goes off to study at college. It is assumed by his father that he will feel better after being with his family and Elizabeth, the woman who he will later marry. But really all Victor wants is to take a breath of fresh air alone, showing how he truly feels about solitude and the environment. It makes the reader wonder what he really cares about, and if he even misses his family. We passed a fortnight in these perambulations: my health and spirits had long been restored, and they gained additional strength from the salubrious air I breathed, the natural incidents of our progress . . . Throughout everything that happens to Victor in the book. Including the death of his mother, brother, Elizabeth, and his father. All that seems to calm him is his return to nature. Mathematically a fuzzy set on a set X is a mapping Вµ into [0, 1] of real numbers; for x in X, Вµ(x) is called the membership of x belonging to X. The membership function gives only an approximation for belonging but it does not give any information of not belonging. To overcome this, Gau.W.L and Buehrer.D.J[7] introduced the concept of vague sets. A vague set A of a set X is a pair of functions (tA,fA), where tA and fA are fuzzy sets on X satisfying tA(x)+fA(x)≤1, в€ Ђ x в€€ X. A fuzzy set tA of X ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the attention and memory subdomain, the child is assessed in their ability to recognize and attend to various situations around them, and their ability to remember certain information. In this domain, Aidan received a standard score of 3, which falls into the delayed range, and is consistent to the developmental age of a one year, nine month child. One of Aidan s strengths in this area was that he is showed his ability to pay attention during a certain activity for up to three minutes. He was also able to find an object that was under one of of the two cups being used. One thing Aidan is still working on is reciting words from a movie or from a book when asked. One other activity that Aidan did not yet master was pointing to the one hand that had a toy in it. In the second subdomain, reasoning and academic skills, Aidan received a score of 8, which is in the average range. This is consistent to the developmental age of 2 years and 6 months. One of Aidan s strengths in this area was his ability to match similar colors together. Another one of his strengths was that he was able to stack nesting blocks on top of one another according to their size. Two things Aidan is still working on is naming his colors and identifying and grouping common objects. The third and last subdomain is perception and concepts. Aidan received a standard score of 3 in this subdomain, which falls under the delayed range. This also states that his developmental age is at 2 years and 2 months. Aidan showed his strengths of matching the same shapes together, building puzzles, and identifying objects that were familiar to him. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evans purpose introducing these theodicies is to merely show that each has its own place within the discussion of the problem of evil, but none of them sufficiently answers the problem of evil. The second chapter found in The Problem of Evil, begins to address the logical problem of evil. Within this chapter Evans breaks down Alvin Plantinga and the free will defense. Here Evans compares the logical arguments of J.L. Mackie and Alvin Plantinga. Mackie uses a deductive argument to state that if God is all knowing, all powerful, and all good, then evil cannot exist. This would be a contradiction to logic. Plantinga provides a valid argument involving free will to make the case for the existence for evil. Evans uses the remainder of the chapter to compare and contrast the two views. Chapter three evaluates the evidential problem of evil. In this chapter Evans uses William Rowe s version of the evidential problem. Using Rowe s argument as a base, Evans then notes the various ways that prominent philosophers such as Kvanvig, Alston, and Wykstra have questioned Rowe s argument. The author also states that anytime the problem of evil is considered, expanded theism should be the subject. In chapter four the author looks at the defeat of good and evil. Evans processes the mechanics of defeat, conversion and the defeat of evil, and the disposition to act. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Workplace Discrimination In America Shaun Herman DIT 4 TASK 3 Topic 12/8/15 Workplace discrimination is a problem in America. Some people in America claim that affirmative action would solve that problem. The UK, India, and Canada already have forms of affirmative action in place in their countries. It could be beneficial in America to use parts of affirmative action. The solution to workplace discrimination in America is affirmative action because it forces governments and businesses to favor members of a discriminated group in our American culture. The problem of workplace discrimination in America is seen by some people as not a real problem, but it is. The fact is that we the United States of America are not following what our legislature has put into law. Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (CRA) of 1964 it is illegal for an employer to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex (gender), religion, or national origin. This applies to all employment situations including hiring, firing, training, promoting, benefits, and wages (What is Racial Discrimination in the Workplace? Examples, Statistics Cases. (n.d.)) This article explores the difference between self disclosure in Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) and Face to Face Communication (FTF). More specifically, this article focuses Joseph Walther s Hyperpersonal Model from 1996, and presents an attributional extension on the model. The article begins by discussing the presence of self disclosure on the internet, stating that self disclosure is rife in profiles for online dating and that the average Facebook user discloses approximately 25% of the standard information that could be disclosed . The article states that while there has been lots of research articles on the reasons that self disclosure is so prevalent in CMC, such as anonymity and selective self presentation, they all seem to make the assumption that increased self disclosure in CMC directly results in increased intimacy. Hence, while research has shown that people disclose more information in CMC relative to FTF, no one has empirically proven the impact of self disclosure on intimacy in CMC.The article continues by defining the concepts and theories crucial to understanding the topic at hand. The disclosure intimacy link is a theory which states that self disclosure is directly proven to foster intimacy in a relationship (Sternberg,1988). The Hyperpersonal model sets out to explain the reason why some online relationships tend to be more intimate than FTF relationships (Parks Floyd, 1996). • 24. Essay on Foaling Report It is said that the horse is the most insufficient domestic animal at breeding and reproducing. This is largely because breeders have manipulated the gestation periods of the mare so that they are out of season breeders. The gestation length of a mare is in between 335 and 340 days. This leaves little time in the year to successfully rebreed a mare after foaling. Because of this, there needs to be considerable time taken to effectively care for the pregnant or open mare. Nutrition is an early factor in the gestation of the mare, this is then followed by the necessary vaccinations and deworming programs that should be routinely scheduled. The third trimester is the period of the greatest amount of growth in the fetus, 60 to 65 percent of the growth occurs during this time (Blanchard et al., 2003). For this reason in the last three months of gestation the crude protein content of the total ration should be increased to around nine to ten percent (Blanchard et al., 2003). Another factor that affects the horses ability to attain proper nutrition is the dental health of the mare. The horse s teeth should be examined and or floated every six to twelve months to ensure proper chewing, which in return helps maintain the optimal body condition (Blanchard et al., 2003). Lastly, fescue grass needs to be completely avoided in the diet of the pregnant mare. The fungus found in fescue causes the placenta to thicken and become unusually tough. It can cause a prolonged gestation date, abortion and or dead or weak foals and potentially higher prenatal foal mortality (Reed et al., 2004) Second to nutrition of the mare are vaccinations and deworming programs. Each should be specific to the needs of the farm and even more so, to that of the gestation period of the mare. Applying A New Localization Approach Based On... пїјA fine grained Indoor Localization using Multidimensional WiFi Fingerprinting Abstract Although fingerprint based localization is promising for indoor applications, its accuracy remains a huge challenge. Most existing approaches depends on the Radio Signal Strength (RSS) to generate fingerprints. Merely using RSS is unable to accurately localize since such an one dimensional fingerprint is serious influenced by the interference and multipath effect in the indoor environment. In this paper, we propose a new localization approach based on multidimensional WiFi fingerprint. Instead of using RSS only, we employ RSS, transmitted power, and channel information to construct fingerprints. The extension of fingerprints enables fine grained localization and tracking services. We also deign a cosine similarity based matchingalgorithm and enhanced particle filter mechanism to realize the localization and tracking. Extensive experiment and implementation results show that using the new fingerprint can achieve an accuracy within 2m in 90% testing points, with good adaptability to complex indoor environments. Chief Justice Warren declared the Separate but Equal doctrine unconstitutional, thereby moving the nation one step closer to a more integrated society. However, despite Brown s monumental win for racial equality, it is undoubtedly obvious that the Court overstepped its boundaries in trying to push for progress. In Brown, the Court was unjustified in its actions to overrule Plessy v Ferguson (Plessy) (1896) and violated its constitutional limit in order to promote racial integration in public education. Lastly, regarding the constitutionality of the Separate but Equal doctrine, Justice Brown believed racial separation to be different from racial subordination (Urofsky, 187). He explained that the feeling of inferiority solely derives from how Black Americans perceive the doctrine, and not from the actual doctrine itself (Urofsky 187). • 38. Fear And Mass Hysteria In Arthur Miller s The Crucible Fear in The Crucible Fear is a powerful emotion. It defines humanity. The sole reason humans continue to progress and invent is due to the fear of the unknown. Humans have feared the unknown since the beginning of time. Therefore, it is logical that knowledge creates security. In scientifically ignorant societies such as puritan Salemin 1692, fear runs rampant when dozens of innocent people are accused of witchcraft and some hanged. In Arthur Miller s famous play The Crucible, mass hysteria leads to the wrongful accusation and hanging of dozens of Salem citizens for witchcraft. It also happened in 1962 when 62 textile workers came down with a disease that was blamed on the bite of a Junebug. When fear becomes widespread and delusional as it has in Salem, it is not fear anymore; it is mass hysteria, a condition affecting a group of persons, characterized by excitement or anxiety, irrational behavior or beliefs, or inexplicable symptoms of illness. The human behavior of mass hysteria is evident in both Arthur Miller s The Crucible and in the modern event The June Bug Epidemic. The emotional mass hysteria that drives the plot of Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, is a wildfire ignited by several sparks in Act 1. As witchcraft first appears, Hale proceeds to ask Abigail and Tituba questions and Abigail quickly turns the blame on someone else. During the questioning of Abigail, Hale asks her a question and Abigail s response shocks everyone: HALE. You have sent your spirit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. How Does Iron Affect The Body The mineral iron (Fe) is a crucial substance for the human body. Many parts of the body, including red blood cells, require iron in order for the body to function normally. Only specific amounts of iron are absorbed by the body to maintain homeostasis. However, iron is a very toxic mineral so if there is too much ironstored in the body, it can lead to serious consequences. People that suffer from haemochromatosis, a hereditary iron disorder, are unable to regulate the amount of iron absorbed from their diet. Almost all iron in the intestine is absorbed into the blood stream and because the human body has no major way to rid of excess iron, it is stored in organs and joints of the body where it can cause serious harm. Typically, the body stores one gram or less of iron but people with haemochromatosis can have up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Iron homeostasis is controlled though a negative feedback loop that involves hormones, including Hepcidin, which are released to control the absorption of iron. With haemochromatosis, the production of these hormones is affected. Over time, the build up of iron has a serious effect on cells in the body which can lead to other fatal diseases or even premature death. It is vital that the body contains a stable amount of iron. This level of iron is regulated through iron homeostasis. On average, people take in 10 to 20 mg of iron a day but only absorb 10%. Usually around 1mg of iron is also lost each day meaning the gain of iron equals the loss. This maintains iron in the body at a stable level. Iron and many other minerals are absorbed through enterocytes, absorbing cells that make up the small intestine. These cells are the regulators for how much iron is moved into the blood stream meaning they only move it if the body sees a need for it. When iron is taken in through food it travels through the digestive system down to the small intestine in the form of Fe3+ (from plant matter) or Fe2+ (from meat). If it is the form 3+ then it is turned into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
