Claude Monet was a famous French impressionist painter born in 1840 who lived in poverty in France as a child. He was influenced by other artists like Eugène Boudin and was a leader of the impressionist movement known for his bright, cheery paintings using short brush strokes with little detail that focused on capturing nature. Some of his most famous works include Cliff Walk at Pourville, Water Lilies, and The Artist's House which all displayed his signature stylistic traits of short brush strokes, an emphasis on color over detail, and reflections of nature.
