Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch post-impressionist painter born in 1853 who devoted his life to art starting in the 1870s. He was influenced by the impressionists and post-impressionists during his time in Paris in the 1880s. Van Gogh struggled with mental health issues throughout his life and died by suicide in 1890 at the age of 37. His paintings were characterized by expressive brushstrokes, swirling colors, and emotion, as seen in his most famous works Starry Night and Sunflowers.
