Definition
 The process of data collection of student performance
 It monitor the progress . The instructor know that how much and how learn
from the subject
 Give feedback to the teacher
 Example : examination , quiz, sendup etc
Characteristics of class room assessment
 Focus on student learning
 Direct involvement of teacher can improve the learning of the student
 The quality of student learning improve by grading , division
 Help to motivate students
 Provide opportunities for discussion
 Through classroom assessment teacher can easily know that how student
much learn from their knowledge
Types
1) formative assessment
 It can take during the class and during syllabus
Purpose : to make judgment about student achievement and assign grades
Example : mids , quizzes , surprise test
2) Summative assessment
 The assessment that should be taken after completing whole syllabus
Purpose : used as feedback devices
Example : final exam, sendups etc
Guiding principles
 Clear thinking and effective communication between teacher and student
 Students are the assessment key : teacher direct the assessment that what
student learn and how they feel about learning
 Assessment is an intrapersonal activity( the ability to examine yourself , own
character )
Quality standards :
 Clear target
 Focused purpose
 Proper method
Assessment options
Selected assessment :
This category include all of the objectivity scored paper
Essay assessment :
Essay assessment are the view point supported by avidence it may vary from a
few paragraph or a number of pages . Essay questions are generally open ended
Performance base assessment :
The task challenges to the students to use their higher order thinking skills to
create a product or complete a process
Personal communication assessment :
One of the most common ways teacher gather information about day to day
student achievement in the classroom is to talk to them
Test
 T test is usually to describe a systematic procedure( based on critical thinking
for obtaining a sample of student behavior
Functions :
 They provide information that are useful for improvement of instruction
 In making administrative decisions
 For guidance purpose
Concept
 Test is focus on a particular domain ( area of control or sphere of knowledge )
 Test is made up of items
Tow main types of items
Selection type :require the student to select the correct or the best answer from
he given option
Supply type : fill in the blanks or essay type
Non test
 Non test techniques refer to those techniques which do not involve a test
 Assessment tool that can used for observation
Oral and written form ( research on a topic and then present it oraly or in
written form )
 Teacher observation
 Journal
