Drought can have various impacts that can be classified into environmental, economic, and social impacts. Environmental impacts include crops not growing well, endangered species being wiped out, and little or no fresh drinking water. Economic impacts consist of ships not being able to travel on waterways, farmers struggling to earn a living without crops to sell, and farmers needing to spend more money on irrigation. Social impacts comprise of clay soils shrinking and causing structural damage to buildings, people moving from rural areas to towns, and people suffering mental and physical stress.
