Dear Mayor Robert Garcia,
The problem of homelessness in the city of Long Beach is
becoming more prevalent. It’s beginning to affect the local
community and the citizens are beginning to voice their
opinions on the matter. My team and I have proposed a solution

9. to combat the issue and to also provide support to those who are
homeless. We are writing to you to ask for your support in
making our proposal a reality.
Homelessness affects children and families by causing a
weariness of not meeting basic needs and safety concerns.
Families and children feel less safe in the city due to seeing so
many homeless and always thinking they can approach them and
do something. According to the city of Long Beach press
releases, “Findings of the 2022 Homeless Point in Time Count,
the first count conducted in two years due to the pandemic,
reveal that Long Beach identified 3,296 people experiencing
homelessness on February 24, 2022.” Due to the high number of
homelessness, an intervention program would be very favorable
to the city of Long Beach.
We propose a multi-component resource-finding program that
assists individuals facing homelessness in the City of Long
Beach. Homelessness is an issue that deeply impacts all aspects
of an individual's life, and as a developed urban city, many
resources are available. However, these available resources are
hard to find/access when an individual lacks necessities. A
multi-component resource-finding program will support
individuals experiencing homelessness to find resources that
assist them with shelter, job, and financial assistance, assistance

10. applying for government resources(i.e., Food stamps, section 8),
among other methods that will support the individual in
reintegrating into society.
Concerning homelessness in the city of Long Beach, change is
highly needed to improve the city in many aspects, including
the safety of community members and homeless people. As
mayor of the city, you can provide funding as well as endorse
this cause and multicomponent resource program. As mayor,
you know the importance of every community member meeting
their basic needs as well as safety experiences throughout the
beautiful city of Long Beach. Any further questions about our
