Mr. Arlington Sands Started his career as a counselor at Martin Luther King Elementary after at that position as counselor became Chief of police Arlington Sands started as
Auxiliary
police officer in 1981 and promoted to part time police officer {1983-1994} and then to lieutenant {1994-1995} reduced crime by 18%(1997) and set a record for the
largest
Marijuana bust in the city {1996} Initiated State of Florida accreditation process for the department, developed Law enforcement Seminar for all ministers, and organized
town hall meetings for citizens to to voice concerns, street marches in all the drugs areas, an a Burglary Prevention Programs for all city business partners.

Seasoned Professional Public Servant with
eighteen year career with the City of Opa-Locka
Police Department, Including two year, including
two years as Chief Police where he over seen over
50 officer, two years later as Opa-Locka City
Manager conducting and coordinating city every
day business and finance as the City Manager.
Interviewee’s Background
As Chief Police he accomplished a number of
goals like organizing a labor management team so
that officers can attempt to resolve problems this
accomplishment allow 300 people from the city to
come together and rally against drug usage and
dealings in the neighborhood.
As a manager Mr. Sands says he label himself as
an everyday joe, repeating the phrase I'm no
better then the next person just choose to take a
different route to gain the success.

What expectations do you have as a manager
The first thing Mr. Sands
stated was communication
goes along with manager and
employees no matter the
position are title each my
hold at company our facility
without everyone being on
the same level any task will
be impossible.
What do you teach as a manager and what
do you expect as manager
Mr. Sands spent 25 years in the
education field where he
taught many things to students
as a counselor, using the same
methods he took it to the
police department and city and
what he taught was self
accountability for responsibility
of any action whether its right
are wrong action. Expecting
every one to hold a
professional standard at all
times do you job with uniform
standard.
Do you intimidated your employees with
wild jesters
The answer was no,
intimidated your employees is
the last thing you won't to do
as a person with authority. His
background in Sociology
helps with learning individuals
ways and patterns so wouldn't
have awarkard conversation
are relationships. As the
manager you have to respect
employees for how they are
and what they our worth to
you and your company.
I learned that pursing my degree
as an Entertainment Business
Agent networking and building
strong relationships will help.
Just your the manager means that
your job isn't too make others
stress about clocking in to work
our making them feel irrelevant.
Respect your employees make
sure the relationship between one
another is genuine and fresh
always remember to look at your
self as a everyday Joe.
What I learned from this Interview
Pros and Cons running the city
I would be interested in a position with the city,
reason being is that the relationship you develop
amongst other people in the city and other officials
outside of the city limits.
The Cons will be answering to the big fish up the
ladder of politics setting down and convincing the
board to pass certain laws are funds for city
development.
