Background
• Very high raw material and energy consumption
• More than 50% of all materials extracted from
earth are transformed into the sector
• Construction and Demolition Wastes amount to
more than 450 m tonnes / year in the EU

What is expected
• Innovative construction products and related
processes that reduce consumption of resources,
embodied carbon and production of by-product
waste (= 2011 text – finetuning in 2012)
• Significant environmental impact in all phases
(construction, maintenance, repair, retrofitting or
demolition).

Types of ongoing projects
• New construction products/materials
e.g. Insulation materials using recycled waste (EAMT, Insulat FH), environmentally
& health friendly materials (ECBP)
• Innovative water systems (including water
saving and reuse)
e.g. System for leakage detection, reuse of grey water for non potable water
demand (AutoLeak, Cyprobell)

INSULATFH
• New process to produce pre-insulated timber
frame panels with cellulose pulp insulation
• Project features:
Processing of waste paper into pulp
Controlled filling into wall panels
Delivery of complete panels to the building site

Product)
• New product : a wooden floor adhesive that
does away heavy metals and VOC
• Project features:
Increasing/optimising production capacity
Searching for local distributors in EU

• Introduction to EU markets of an eco-friendly
construction system for industrial and
commercial buildings
• Project features:
Bringing up together architects, timber construction engineers,
building and sofware engineers
Building 18 buildings targeting first in Austrian market
Set up of a franchise system to reach EU market

17. Indicative Timetable
• Call publication: early May 2012
EU INFO DAY on 08.05.12 in Brussels : register !
•Deadline for submission: September 2012
• Selected projects will start from May 2013 : costs
occurred before that won’t be eligible
• Project duration : maximum 3 years

18. Indicative budget
• 2012 budget ~ 35-40M €
• About 1,4 m € total costs per project
• 50% co-financing
• 2011: 45/50 projects selected out of 280

19. Who can apply
• Priority given to SME and private beneficiaries
but any legal persons can apply…
• … if established in EU and other countries that
have joined the initiative
• No EU partnership required but EU added
value, an award criteria
