This document provides instructions for an exercise in biomimetic interface design. Students are asked to empathize with a non-human user and design a device to improve their communication abilities. The design process involves defining user needs, ideating alternatives, prototyping a physical solution, testing it, and getting feedback. Students are encouraged to follow brainstorming and prototyping rules like deferring judgment, building on ideas, and testing early iterations. The goal is for students to present their design solutions before the end of the class period.
