A- My class is a 1st grade classroom, 7 out of the 17 children have mild to
severe ADHD. There are 10 boys and 7 girls, 70% white, 20% African-
American, and 10% Hispanic. These children love to learn by visual
examples.
S- After this lesson my students will have a developed a clear
understanding of the twelve months on the calendar along with
different variations of holidays in the months. Although 7 students
have ADHD I will keep them focused by keeping the whole class
involved in the conversation, and making sure they are active in the
discussion. By the end of the day the students will have 90% accuracy
of the concept.
S- During this lesson I will use a calendar attached to the white board,
and magnets with the student’s name and different holidays. Students
will put their name on which month they were born in and a holiday in
which month it takes place. If a holiday is not available already to
them I will have them tell me which holiday it is and which month it
takes place.
U- Before I do this lesson I will double check to see if I have every name
written out, all twelve months ready, and the well-known holidays to
the students ready.
R- I will hand-out a worksheet to take home for the students to ask their
family members, bus drivers, neighbors, and etc. important holidays to
them or their birthdays and which month it is in.We will share this in
class the next day, and then go over the months again as practiced.
E-Before this lesson I will make sure my students are ready for this
concept. During this lesson I will make sure my students, especially
those with ADHD are staying interested. The day after the lesson when
going over the worksheet I will asset to see if the information was well
taught.
