CI/CD aims to allow teams to deliver software quickly and reliably by automating the build, test and deployment processes. This helps reduce bugs, ensures all code changes are validated, and provides live documentation of how to build and release software. The document outlines best practices for CI/CD like naming conventions, email notifications on failures, and provisioning testing environments to validate code changes before production deployment. It also notes potential problems like dependencies on specific operating systems and challenges with infrastructure provisioning.

Linux Collaboration Summit Keynote: Transformation: It Takes a Platformcornelia davis
The last decade has seen a revolution in the manner in which digital experiences are brought to consumers. The companies who are not just meeting increased consumer expectations, but are defining them, are operating within very different organizational structures than their predecessors, and are wrapping new processes around them. And they are using a fundamentally different toolset than before. In this talk we will cover a set of processes that serve this new paradigm and we’ll study the patterns that must be present in supporting software development and runtime platforms.

[WSO2Con EU 2017] Continuous Integration, Delivery and Deployment: Accelerate...WSO2
Continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment are essential practices adopted by agile organizations to meet the new demands of digital transformation. Ultimately, the goal is to accelerate development and test processes and get new code out to production fast. This slide deck focuses on sustainably flowing ideas into the hands of customers in the form of innovative digital capabilities and applications, and continuously improving the digital business with CI/CD.
“I have stopped counting how many times I’ve done this from scratch” - was one of the responses to the tweet about starting the project called Spring Cloud Pipelines. Every company sets up a pipeline to take code from your source control, through unit testing and integration testing, to production from scratch. Every company creates some sort of automation to deploy its applications to servers. Enough is enough - time to automate that and focus on delivering business value.
In this presentation we’ll go through the contents of the Spring Cloud Pipelines project. We’ll start a new project for which we’ll have a deployment pipeline set up in no time. We’ll deploy to Cloud Foundry and check if our application is backward compatible so that we can roll it back on production.
Learn how Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) provides the process for capturing detailed requirements as acceptance criteria and turn them into as test cases before development begins using Behavior Driven Development (BDD). The BDD approach and Gherkin format is the language used to create easy to understand and actionable scenarios that map from the functional level to the components and units. We will discuss the different approaches to TDD including a realistic approach leveraging BDD to a purest standpoint where TDD use the tests to drive the design of the application. Finally understand how the tools in Visual Studio and Team foundation Server to support BDD such as SpecFlow (Cucumber in .NET), Refactoring tools, and Test Cases in MTM.
Succesful Testing The Continuous Delivery ProcessHuib Schoots
Many organisations want to shorten their time-to-market. By implementing agile they try to shorten the delivery time. Agile projects use practices like continuous integration, automated deployment, (acceptance) test-driven development and regression test automation to get to continuous delivery. In this process build, integration, test, and deployment automation plays an important role.
The delivery of software has to become fast and reliable. But what does it take to get to continuous delivery? What are the testing challenges we face in a continuous delivery? Which test strategies can we apply be able to test continuous delivery?
This talk zooms in on fully automated unit testing and a high degree of automation in the business facing testing to get to continuous delivery. It focusses on solutions (tooling) within a continuous delivery model from a testing perspective. It gives the participants insights in the use of requirements management tooling, test solutions built with tooling like Selenium and Fitnesse, JMeter, Appdynamics and other tooling. How can deployment processes be implemented with the use of the right (often lightweight) tooling? Which test strategy fits in this process and how to organize collaboration between developers, testers and operations?
Finally this talk gives practical examples of projects were these solutions were used.
What will be the learning moments for visitors?
* What is continuous delivery?
* What test challenges do we face in continuous delivery?
* Which test and tool strategies can we apply to continuous integration?
* What makes these strategies successful?
* Lessons learned in testing continuous delivery: what worked, what was the context and what didn't work so well?

Continuous delivery is everywhere. Really?! Many teams still struggle to deliver well-tested product increments on a regular basis. Usually with the same old excuse: the (non)-functional tests are too complex and too expensive to implement thoroughly. But exactly the opposite is the case! In this talk, we briefly review the importance of early and regular testing of cloud-native applications and explain why monolithic CI pipelines are a dead end. We then show how easy it is to run integration, performance, security and acceptance tests continuously using Testkube directly on your Kubernetes cluster, fully integrated with a GitOps approach.
You've heard about Continuous Integration and Continuous Deilvery but how do you get code from your machine to production in a rapid, repeatable manner? Let a build pipeline do the work for you! Sam Brown will walk through the how, the when and the why of the various aspects of a Contiuous Delivery build pipeline and how you can get started tomorrow implementing changes to realize build automation. This talk will start with an example pipeline and go into depth with each section detailing the pros and cons of different steps and why you should include them in your build process.

Continuous Delivery ist allgegenwärtig. Wirklich?

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Let's dive deeper into the world of ODC! Ricardo Alves (OutSystems) will join us to tell all about the new Data Fabric. After that, Sezen de Bruijn (OutSystems) will get into the details on how to best design a sturdy architecture within ODC.
Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Builder.ai Founder Sachin Dev Duggal's Strategic Approach to Create an Innova...Ramesh Iyer
In today's fast-changing business world, Companies that adapt and embrace new ideas often need help to keep up with the competition. However, fostering a culture of innovation takes much work. It takes vision, leadership and willingness to take risks in the right proportion. Sachin Dev Duggal, co-founder of Builder.ai, has perfected the art of this balance, creating a company culture where creativity and growth are nurtured at each stage.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

2. Motivation
Allow us to deliver anytime anywhere (top priority)
Decrease feedback loop
Tell the dev that he broke something
Introduce a relyable way to “smoke out” the project
Prevent “Works on my machine” lazy practice
Provides a live documentation of “how to build”
Validate against “latest master” status after each push
3. Allow us to deliver anytime anywhere
End user wants everything delivered FAST
Delivering requires thorough documentation
•(which is a thing that we are BAD at)
•(and automation solves this by providing a ”working example”)
We need to “document” how to release
The act of delivery prevents code from being developed on PRODUCTION
machines
The granule of release is the granule of reuse
4. CI outline

14. Best practices
Every JOB name should be named by it’s JIRA TAG
Every CI job should be prefixed by the CI prefix
Every CI build version should be the SVN version
Every CD job should be prefixed by the CD prefix
Every failure should send an email to project owner AND departmant manager.
There should be a NG QA test machine dedicated for all projects / per project (if not applicable)
All artifacts will be sent to SYSTEMS FTP
15. Problems
• Main controller is a windows machine
– We’ll handle linux/debian/kolibrios when a
problem is met.
• Provisioning is a pain!
– ???
• Anywhere?!?!?!
Editor's Notes
But hey – this makes sense as the whoe world is the behaving the same way….
SVN version > version.txt
Then display the version.txt somewhere.
