Education
The University of Edinburgh (Economics MA Hons) - September 2013 to present
Newcastle Royal Grammar School, Newcastle Upon-Tyne - September 2003 – 2013
Throughout my time at the University of Edinburgh I have undertaken a combination of both numerical as well
as theoretical courses as part of my undergraduate studies, which has allowed for the development of the
foundation of mathematical and analytical techniques I initially began to develop during my school education.
The focus of many the courses I have enrolled in has been on the development of my ability to understand
fundamental economic analytical techniques associated with theoretical and statistical techniques. The degree
program has also required the modelling of, and systemically operating through, data heavy projects alongside a
series of presentations among our peers helping to improve my communicative and investigate abilities.
I am currently achieving grades, both in examination and semester based assessments, to indicate I am on
course to achieve an Upper Second Class classification at the end of the Undergraduate program.
Experience
As of July 2016 I have worked for the Edinburgh University Student Association (EUSA)
I have been employed as a House Team Member. My position within EUSA has involved working
throughout the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, of August this year, which has developed and advanced my capacity
to operate within a high paced environment given the influx of people to the city during the month. On a day to
day basis, as a house team member were responsible for ensuring the comfort and safety of all our customers as
well as monitor and maintain of the premises and facilitate the smooth running of events across all EUSA venues
as well as being dependable for maintenance, appearance and cleanliness of the premises working within the
team, as well as individually.
Between October 2014 and April 2015 I worked as a part-time Sales Advisor in the House of Fraser.
My position there, in Edinburgh, involved the provision of a consistently high level of customer service,
which has become associated with the name over the company’s history, adapting uniquely to everyone that
visited the department, both as an individual as well as part of a team. As a member of the team, I was involved
in supporting and advising my colleagues wherever possible to contribute to the running of the business. This
form of service involved both cash and stock handling as well as product organization whilst on the floor. In
addition, we were responsible for the implementation of the decisions and help introduce strategies manufactured
by the managers. My time employed at House of Fraser no doubt enhanced my interpersonal and problem
solving abilities.

Work Experience at AWS Accountancy Limited
3, Berrymoor Court, Northumberland Business Park, Cramlington, Northumberland, NE23 7RZ

I was fortunate enough to gain a week's worth of work experience during the Christmas Holidays
whilst in my final year of school in 2013. This allowed me to gain an insight into the
fundamentals of day-to-day business in an accountancy firm. Given the subjects I was studying at
A-level (Economics, Maths and History), this provided the perfect opportunity to observe and
engage in the applications of some of the skills and abilities I was developing in my studies.
Additional Information
Throughout my time at school I took part in; a World Challenge expedition to Mongolia during the summer 2012 and
the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and I was actively involved in various sports teams, for the most part with the
football team. Alongside this Outside of school I was involved in the Alnmouth Junior Golf Team, as well as
Morpeth Town Juniors which was the local football team in my area, and I continue to play golf and football regularly
in my spare time at university.
Whilst at University, I took part in the Edinburgh Jailbreak 2014, raising money for Penumbra (a mental health charity
based in Scotland). Additionally, I have continued to play football as part of the one of the University’s societies and
remain a single-figure handicapper at Alnmouth Golf Club. I recently was a part of the Edinburgh University R.A.G’s
Race2Paris, again raising money for Penumbra that continue to do great work supporting and facilitating the recovery
of those who suffer from problems concerning mental health. I have also started to volunteer with the events run by
the team of people that make up Edinburgh R.A.G who organise the fundraising throughout the year.
